Changing Attitude Towards Plastic Surgery and Liposuction

There is a certain stigma associated with plastic surgery, and in the past I’ve been very vocal about being against it. There used to be a time when I would judge someone for altering their physical appearance, but then I realized that I was going against my philosophy of “no judgements”. Who am I to decide what’s best for you or to say something negative about you if I don’t even know you?

For instance, I came across a list of celebrities who had undergone (or allegedly undergone) liposuction, and some of these women I personally admire - like Janet Jackson.

If you do decide to do something like get liposuction because you think it will make you happy, then by all means do it. But ask yourself if it will truly cure the insecurities that you feel about yourself.

I would say that Kate Winslet sums up my thoughts about plastic surgery nowadays:

"Plastic surgery and breast implants are fine for people who want that, if it makes them feel better about who they are. But, it makes these people, actors especially, fantasy figures for a fantasy world. Acting is about being real being honest."--Kate Winslet

I admit that even today I still look at myself in the mirror and say, “Oh, I wish my stomach...” or “Look at that flab...” It’s so easy to focus on the negative, but I’m learning to turn those thoughts around and to just simply say, “I love you.” It does take time to love yourself completely. It’s like any relationship you have in life.

Favorite Classics For Fall 2010: Lace and Leopard Print

I tend not to be a trend follower, but I do like to know about the latest fashion looks and what’s coming up for fall. The fall is my favorite season for fashion because of all the layering and boots. I love boots.

I am excited, though, that many classic styles are coming back for fall 2010. For instance, lace and leopard print are fun and add a little spice to the wardrobe.

Whenever I think of animal print clothing, I picture myself wearing a leopard print pencil skirt (I've had my eye on the Michael Kors skirt pictured here), a nice white sleeveless blouse with ruffles, and a pair of Jimmy Choo heels. As for accessories, I would keep it simple - studded pearl earrings and a simple gold ring.

When wearing animal print, I think it should be worn in moderation. I wouldn't wear leopard print from head to toe!

As for lace, I love that it's being used in everything from trench coats to handbags and even shoes. I especially love lace shoes and handbags.

The beauty of lace and animal print is that you'll probably be able to get a great deal of wear out of anything you buy because they're such classic styles. I would definitely make the investment and buy quality pieces.

Beauty Is: Organized Beauty Products and An Organized Closet

Yesterday I pulled everything out of my closet to reorganize and figure out what clothes to give away. I do this every 6 months or so to preserve my sanity. I just can't stand clutter and messiness. It drives me bonkers. That's not to say that I'm not messy because there are times when my life gets a bit hectic.

Organizing your closet and all of those beauty products is something I highly recommend. Not only will you feel instant zen, you'll begin to discover items you forgot you had. You realize that you don't have to go shopping after all. You've been reacquainted with that pair of brown peep-toe heels that go with all your summer dresses ;)

One area that needed help desperately was my beauty products. I have lipsticks, lip gloss, eyeliners, perfume samples, and hair accessories all over the place. Thank Goodness for the handy-dandy Magnapods. They have magnets so you can attach them to the inside door of the medicine cabinet. I don't have a medicine cabinet, so I've put them on my metal shelf next to the bathroom mirror.

I also organized all the items on top of the dresser drawer in my closet. My jewelry was a mess, so I took a cork board, stuck push pins in it, and used it to hang some of my longer necklaces and bracelets.

So, hopefully this post will inspire you to get organized. I've always believed that a cluttered life equals a cluttered mind. Believe me, your mind will feel so much better after you've organized a closet. Besides, there might be something in there that could be more useful for someone else.

Glamorous Hair in Under 10 Minutes

What is a person's best accessory? No, it's not a nice handbag or a pair of super duper kick-ass shoes. Although, that's what I used to think. Nowadays I'm thinking that a person's hair is their best accessory. Well, besides a beautiful smile, of course :)

As I'm writing this here in the bookstore, I'm looking at a woman wearing a very cute summer outfit. However, all I can do is stare at her hair. It's just THERE. She would have been much better off pulling it up in a ponytail with a nice headband.

It doesn't take that long to put together a nice hairstyle. It doesn't have to be totally done up. Remember that sleek ponytails are always in style. You can even try this fancy stacked ponytail like Lauren Conrad's.

Although I say that treating yourself to a haircut or new hairstyle once in awhile can get you out of a beauty rut, you don't have to spend loads of money to make your hair look glamorous.

I'm in love with Kate Hudson's hair, with its beachy waves and golden color. Her hairstyle is actually very easy to replicate and only takes about 10 minutes to do.

All you have to do is:

1. Spray your hair with a texturizing spray. I use AG's DV8 Texture Spray.

2. Loosely wrap sections of hair around the barrel of a curling iron. I recently received Amika's clip-free tourmaline curler to try out, and love the ease of use - not to mention the pretty tattoo design. It also comes with a black glove so you don't burn those pretty fingers while wrapping your hair around the barrel!

3. Run your fingers through your hair...and Voila! You hair looks effortlessly glamorous.

Why I Love Organic Skin Care Products

As I've mentioned before, organic beauty products have gained precedence in the beauty industry, making their way into the bathroom cabinets of women all around the world.

Although I have yet to go completely organic with my beauty routine, the majority of the skin care products I do use are organic.

Lately I've been receiving compliments on my skin, so it could be a combination of using organic products, getting an occasional facial, or just learning how to slow down and not stress out so much. In fact, I have an appointment for a massage tomorrow that I'm really looking forward to! All of these things do affect how you look and feel about yourself.

The more research I do about beauty product ingredients, the more I'm realizing that organic products would be the best for me. The less toxins I have in my body, the better - especially now that I'm trying to get pregnant. Contrary to what you might think, out here in San Diego the sunny weather, palm trees, and ocean water are not enough to make us feel relaxed and physically beautiful. We do need to pamper ourselves once in awhile with a visit to the spa. I do have to say that a spa located in a nice hotel overlooking the ocean is definitely a nice treat.

When you visit Spa Aquazul at the Hilton Bayfront, that's exactly what you'll start to believe. Of course, I've known this for many years now, but you certainly need a reminder once in awhile.

I was invited to experience the Intraceuticals Infusions treatment and to meet renowned makeup artist, Gina Brooke, who is one of the brand ambassadors. Gina uses the treatment on many A-list celebrities who absolutely love it. Now, I'm not one to go wild just because someone like Madonna endorses a beauty regimen, but after experiencing the facial myself, I can understand why she's addicted to it.

Book Review: "Unforgettable You" by Daisy Fuentes

What is it about a woman that makes her more attractive and desirable besides her stunning physical beauty? Is it that she knows who she is and feels comfortable being in her own skin? Is it that she knows how to carry herself with elegance and grace?

In her book, Unforgettable You: Master the Elements of Style, Spirituality, and True Beauty, Daisy Fuentes shares her thoughts about what makes a woman beautiful from the inside-out. Daisy also dishes out tips and personal, candid thoughts on fashion, sex, relationships, and spirituality. There's even advice on table manners, cell phone etiquette (a must read!), some grammar rules that Daisy feels every lady should know, plus much more.

Unlike other books about beauty, this is not just another one filled with Do's and Don'ts. It's also a workbook in which you get to know more about yourself and how you feel. Daisy says that to know yourself, you have to question yourself fully. Therefore, there are several questionnaires throughout the book and you are given space to fill in your own answers. I like that Daisy shares parts of her own journal so that the reader can know more about her too.

I love that this book is filled with inspirational quotes, pictures of Daisy during her journey to becoming a woman, and interviews with notable people such as Cindy Crawford and Martyn Lawrence Bullard.

When Daisy asks Martyn Lawrence Bullard, "What is the best beauty advice you can give a woman?", his answer is:

"...learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all. Show yourself and others all the beauty you possess inside, and by learning to love yourself, embracing your faults, whatever they may be, and seeing those faults are really just a part of us and by accepting this love them, yourself, and eventually everyone will love you, and through that inner love your outer beauty will shine tenfold."

From beginning to end, this book is filled with the inspiration to be who you truly are and to live a happier, more fulfilling life. After reading it, I almost feel like I personally know Daisy Fuentes. In many ways she and I think alot alike - especially about spirituality. This book made me realize that not all beautiful celebrities are full of themselves!

Classic Style: Clothing For Stylish, Practical Women

This past month I've purchased three black dresses. Boring. I can't help it, tough. I like clothes that I can wear all the time, regardless of what season it is. Once in awhile I'll buy something from Forever 21 that's trendy, but the majority of time I'm in search of something that's comfortable, classic, stylish, and practical. Even when I worked at Contempo Casuals and Wet Seal, I was still shopping in places like Ann Taylor or EXPRESS.

Speaking of, if you're like me and are looking for clothes that can be worn again and again, check out the new pieces from EXPRESS pictured above. All of these pieces can be worn now...and later during the fall.

I really like the black draped mesh mini skirt. Wear it with a tank top and sandals now...then transition into fall with a long-sleeve blouse and tall boots for winter.

Spa Review: Clarins in Bloomingdale's (Fashion Valley Mall)

Recently I was invited to experience the new Clarins Spa in Bloomingdale's at the Fashion Valley Mall here in San Diego. I didn't expect very much because after all, it's a spa in the mall. Little did I know that I was in for a treat!

Before my appointment I decided to do a little research about Clarins spas and discovered that the company believes in manual skin treatments, meaning that they don't use any machines at all. Every treatment is performed with the hands and fingers of the esthetician. I also learned that back in the 1950's the founder of Clarins, Jacques Courtin-Clarins, had created these new message methods using 100% pure plant extract treatment oils.

Annie, the esthetician who gave me my facial, asked me a few questions and assessed my skin. She told me that I had great skin - that it had good elasticity and moisture. She could tell that I drank alot of water. I expressed concerns about the lines in my forehead, so she told me that she would pay attention to that area during the treatment.

As I said before, I wasn't expecting much from this facial. Then I realized that Annie has this healing touch that I can't even describe. I found out that she was trained by the Clarins' international trainer who came all the way from Paris to teach Annie about all the treatments. I could tell that she was trained well. Not only did she gave me a facial, she gave me a shoulder massage, a head massage, and a hand massage. I was so relaxed that I dozed off. I walked out of that room on cloud 9!

There are several facial treatments that you can choose from, plus you have a choice of a 1 hour treatment ($75) or 45 minute treatment ($50). With the one hour treatment you get the plant mask and hand massage.

The Clarins Spa treatment room was very relaxing with its soothing music and candles. Except for the occasional chatter that I heard outside the room from store patrons, it was still a nice experience. I love the idea of being able to get a treatment and then go shopping afterwards. Shopping is SO much more enjoyable after a relaxing facial and massage.

Karl Lagerfeld: Inspiring Us to Channel Our Inner Fashion Icon

The marriage of fashion and art has always been...and always will be. After all, fashion is a manifestation of one's creative vision, which is in essence, a work of art. I believe that some designers are more creative than others, and therefore, more artistic. However, every designer has their own unique vision and we shouldn't take away from that. There is one designer who many consider to be utter genius when it comes to blending art and fashion: Karl Lagerfeld.

Karl Lagerfeld is our modern-day Renaissance Man - a fashion icon turned super-hero, if you will. He saves the fashion world from boredom with controversy, inspiring photography, and poetic sound bites. His uncanny ability to turn the mundane into a work of art ceases to amaze even the most talented artists.

Describing Lagerfeld as a prolific fashion designer is a mild understatement. From Chloe, to Fendi and Chanel, he has churned out enough designs for ten lifetimes. What makes Lagerfeld a true artist, though, is his knack for pushing the boundaries and challenging people to think outside their comfort zones - like the time when Anna Wintour walked out of his Fendi runway show because he used strippers to model his collection.

The one thing, though, that many find intriguing about Lagerfeld is his trademark outfit: White button-down shirt, black tie, and black suit. How could a man so creative get caught up in a fashion rut? Save for the occasional accessory change, he's practically worn the same outfit for years. Skincare Advice From Grandma

"Always take care of your skin and don't wear alot of makeup or else you'll end up with wrinkly skin," my friend's grandma told me one day while she was babysitting me.

I just sat there, nodded my head, and didn't say anything. After all, I was only six-years-old at the time. All I cared about was whether or not I she was going to let me watch TV. Now thirty years later and grandma's advice is echoing in my mind as I write this.

Up until about a few weeks ago I didn't have a set skin care regimen that I followed consistently. I've always been very good at washing my face at night, that much I can say. No matter how tired I am, I still get up to wash my face.

However, now that I've got these small lines in my forehead, I'm beginning to pay more attention to how I'm taking care of my skin. I've come up with a new daily skin care regimen, and so far I'm noticing improvement in my skin tone. So, here is what I'm doing now...

Morning Skin Care Routine:

1. Wash my face with Laszlo Blue treatment bar - I like how this makes my skin feel squeaky clean. No soapy residue feeling. It's supposed to help you get smoother, firmer skin.

2. Apply Avalon Organics Lavender Renewal Facial Serum - My face tends to get red and blotchy at times, so this is good therapy for my skin.

3. Finish with Aveeno's Positively Smooth facial moisturizer - I have combination skin, so I like that this moisturizer doesn't make my face break out. My face feels very soft and supple now.

Night Skin Care Routine:

My nightly routine is basically the same, except that now I'm trying out Femme Science's Age Control treatment. Instead of applying the Avalon facial serum like I do in the morning, I put this on before the moisturizer. Age Control is supposed to "preserve the radiance and beautiful complexion of youthful skin". Femme Science is a fairly new skin care line that is targeting young women who want to combat the first signs of aging. That would be me!

So far I'm happy with Femme Science's Age Control. Along with everything else I'm doing like drinking plenty of water and eating healthy, I'm beginning to notice how much more radiant my skin looks! I don't even want to wear any foundation. So, we'll see how this new skin care regimen works for me. For the past couple weeks I've been really good at following it...

Keep in mind that everyone's skin is different, so you will have to assess your own skin and develop a regimen that is specific to your needs.

Giving Makes You Beautiful

Giving is not only good for the receiver, it makes the giver that much more beautiful. Whether it be a compliment because you like someone's outfit, a friendly smile to the neighbor who looks like she's having a bad day, or giving to a good cause...those kind acts allow you to share good vibes with the community.

Everyday I make it a point to ask, "What can I do today to be of service to others?" I spend a great deal of time thinking of ways to give back and share my talents and gifts with those who may need it.

When you give to others, your body releases endorphins which make you feel good. You're smiling...you're happy...What could be more beautiful?

Natural Beauty Inspiration: Jessica Simpson

Kudos to Jessica Simpson for displaying an au natural look for the May 2010 Marie Claire cover. I was in CVS Pharmacy looking over the fashion magazines when I was prompted to make this magazine purchase just because it's a rare thing to have a celebrity bare it all. No Photoshop...no makeup...just pure, natural beauty!

I LOVE when Jessica says:

"I don't have anything to prove anymore. What other people think of me is not my business."

A couple months ago Jessica did a TV series called "The Price of Beauty" where she traveled the world to learn more about other women's views and perspectives on beauty. This show inspired her to start her own campaign called "A Beautiful Me" that celebrates individualism and positivity.

Today I was inspired to go out with an au natural look...well, almost. I did go out with the bare essentials, though. I'm wearing powder, lip gloss, and mascara by Lavera organic makeup and Bare Natural black eyeliner from L'Oreal.

The One Summer Fashion Staple Everyone Needs

Bright, sunny days are here again, so that means it's time to protect your eyes with a pair of fashionable sunglasses. They can't be anything but, right?!

Well, here in San Diego it seems to always be the season for sunglasses and I always keep a pair handy whether it be in my purse or in the car. On any given day here in Southern California, you'll see people wearing retro-chic sunglasses. Think Grace Kelly in white frames or those Ray ban sunglasses reminiscent of 80's fashion.

For summer 2010 we'll be seeing frames in all different types of fun colors and unique shapes. Also, for more eco-conscious shoppers, there will be sunglasses made from renewable materials.

Regardless if you’re into wearing the latest styles in sunglasses, it should be a staple for the summer wardrobe. Your eyes need protection from those dangerous UV rays. Besides, who wants wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes?

If anything, you can probably make money because you can buy a dozen pairs for around $23 (give or take), take one pair for yourself and then sell the rest to your friends or on eBay. (Yes, that's the entrepreneur in me always at work!) You can also buy sunglass accessories including sunglass cords.

Most health experts agree that losing about 2 pounds a week for the average person can be achieved safely. Armed with this knowledge you will be able to set your goal and a time frame to achieve it. For example, if you would like to lose 20 pounds then you should safely expect to accomplish your goal in about 10 weeks. Having a plan and sticking to it makes weight loss much easier. Having an actual date on the calendar to reach your weight loss goal will allow you to accomplish it in small chunks. This greatly increases motivation and will help you stick to your plan.

Coming up with a plan and implementing it is the actual hard part of weight loss. The easy part is diet and exercise. By simply sticking to low calorie meals and eliminating junk food from your diet, you can see drastic results in your waistline. Most people have incurred weight gain because of poor eating habits. There are a myriad of outlets online which can suggest low-calorie meal options. Planning your meals in advance is a key to losing weight naturally. Many people fix meals at the last minute, and quick meals typically end up being high in fat and calories. Having low fat meals planned out for the week will also help simplify your life. No more rushing around after work trying to find something to fix for dinner. You may also prepare several meals in advance on your days off which can easily be reheated throughout the week.

For many people, diet alone is not enough to shed pounds. Exercising is also an integral part of weight loss. Staying active will help burn excess calories before they can be stored as fat. Fat burning exercise can be accomplished in many ways. Joining a gym to utilize aerobic equipment or simply walking in the evenings can help melt away the pounds. Whatever you decide to do for exercising the key for success is consistency. Any type of exercise can produce good results provided that you do it regularly and that you gradually and slowly increase both the intensity and frequency of your exercise sessions. Every time you exercise your body should be under stress. This is the only way to burn more calories. You need to feel your heart rate increasing and your muscles getting pressure. Doing this regularly you will not only see positive results but you will also notice that your fitness level is improved.

Beauty Is...Saying "Thank You"

For me, there is nothing more beautiful than to be around people who are grateful for what they've been given in life. I do believe that gratitude brings out your inner beauty. Designer shoes, designer handbags, designer clothes...There is absolutely nothing wrong with having these things. I say, if you have the money to buy these things - why not?!? As long as you remain true to yourself and don't take things for granted.

I find that when I remain in a state of gratitude, more of what I want comes to me. I feel grateful for what I have right now and don't complain that other people have more than me. After all, being able to wear a different outfit everyday is actually a luxury for many people around the world.

Gratitude extends far beyond the realm of material things, though. I share gratitude towards the people who help me find that perfect outfit...or gratitude for the healthy foods that are available to eat.

On one of my other blogs I talked about the power of "Thank You" and how the art of writing Thank You cards has been slowly fading away. When I worked at Nordstrom I often sent out Thank You cards to customers and loved it when they came back to shop with me because I took the time to show my gratitude for their business.

Summer is the season for weddings and lately I've been seeing some beautiful wedding jewelry! There's also been a great deal of talk about celebrities (Heidi Klum and Seal come to mind) renewing their wedding vows, so whether you've been inspired to renew your own vows or you'll be making vows for the first time, you'll want to wear jewelry that represents your unique beauty and timeless love!

One trend that I really like is custom design engagement rings. I love the idea of wearing a custom ring that symbolizes your relationship as unique and valuable.

The Journey to Inner Beauty: Seeing the Beauty In Everything

Cristina Carlino wrote a great article about five easy tips to inner beauty - an article that spoke to me in so many ways. However, I really liked her tip about seeing the beauty in everything great and small.

One of my daily rituals is to go out and spend time with nature. Whether it's going out for a walk with the dogs or making a run to the grocery store, I make a point to pay attention to the sounds of birds chirping or to bask in the warmth of the sun.

But it's not just seeing the beauty of nature. I see beauty in the man picking out aluminum cans from trash cans...and there's beauty in the old run-down building in downtown that I pass by sometimes on my way to a favorite coffee shop.

If you have issues with your own self worth or beauty, I highly recommend spending a little time each day focusing on the beautiful things that surround you. Take the focus off of you for once. After awhile you'll begin to realize that there really is beauty in everything - including you!

Fashion Forward: Eco-Friendly Takes the Stage

When you think of fashion, you see runways in Milan, Paris, and New York. You have visions of frou-frou frocks, thousand-dollar handbags, and impossibly high heels. You imagine Hollywood ingénues waltzing down the red carpet, flashbulbs popping as they field the inevitable question, “Who are you wearing?” Not what, who. And then there are the countless style shows, fashion magazines, and even the lady at the nail salon who keeps telling you that your skinny jeans are SO last season. But one thing that definitely does not pop into your head in accordance with fashion is the term “eco-friendly”.

So what does eco-fashion entail? First of all, the fabrics must be all-natural, like hemp, organic cotton, bamboo, or soy silk, just to name a few. Second, they are subject to certain standards of production, including minimal use of chemicals and pesticides during the growing process, sustainable farming practices, eco-friendly certification, and they must be animal friendly. And once the fabrics are produced, they tend to be treated with non-toxic dyes and biodegradable finishes. But how does that translate into the clothes you wear every day?

When you first consider eco-friendly fashion, your mind may gravitate towards something along the lines of homemade hippie hemp-wear. However, this is far from the reality of green fashion today. Sites like www.thegreenloop.com have just as many designers as any department store (if not more), all offering eco-friendly fare. Some of the designers featured on this site include Alchemy, which makes handbags that look like vinyl, but are actually recycled inner tubes from bike tires, EcoSkin, which combines bamboo, Tencel, and Spandex to make stretch fabrics that look and feel like jersey (in styles that are very now), and Sub Urban Riot, which boasts some killer graphic tees made from organic cotton and recycled polymer-based materials. You can also find shoes, jewelry, and even eco-lingerie. And this is just one of many websites devoted to making fashion more eco-friendly!

The other unexpected boon of eco-fashion is the pricetag. Most people think that anything even resembling environmentally sound will automatically raise the sticker price. Not true. The cost of green fashions can be as low or high as clothing at any other retailer, from department stores to designer labels. Prices vary based not only on the product, but also on the designer, just like in any other area of the fashion industry. And even if you were to spend a little more on an eco-friendly outfit, wouldn’t it be worth if for the fact that you are helping to preserve our planet while still looking smoking hot for your date Friday night? In fact, if you do a little browsing, you may find that you can get exactly the fashion you’re looking for, at a comparable price, and show the earth a little love along the way.

The Ideal Man or Woman: Is There Such a Thing As "Perfect"?

What is the ideal man or woman? What is considered "perfect"? These are questions I have asked myself in the past. I know that many of you try to change yourselves to fit this ideal. We want to be what everyone thinks is beautiful, sexy, or appealing.

To expand on what Paige says at the end of the video...In terms of beauty, there is no such thing as "perfect" beauty. I often hear women say about stars and celebrities, "Wow, her skin is so perfect!" or "She has the perfect body!" This idea of being perfect is what makes people feel so insecure about themselves.

It can be a challenge to get out of this mindset of wanting to be perfect when we have so many advertisements, TV shows, movies, and magazines trying to tell us what is beautiful and what is not. These things do play on our minds, whether consciously or subconsciously.

The more time you spend getting to know yourself and accepting yourself for who you are, it gets easier to tune out all the media. You'll begin to realize that everyone is unique and we each have characteristics that make us beautiful.

Meetup With Nine West's Creative Director and Gossip Girl Stylist

It's only once in a blue moon that I get out to a fashion event in San Diego, but recently it seemed like a non-stop fashion fiesta for me...

First stop: Horton Plaza Nine West Event

When I walked up the stairs to the Nine West store, there was a long line waiting outside to meet Fred Allard, the creative director for Nine West. I was very excited about this event because I finally got to meet fellow fashion/beauty/style blogger, Sarah Conley of StyleIt. Sarah is also on the PR team for Nine West (Thanks for the invite, Sarah!), so she traveled from New York City to represent...

I also got to see Crosby Norris of PR Couture whom I haven't seen in years - even though we're both fashion bloggers who live in San Diego! Here's Crosby modeling a pair of very cute gold sandals which she bought that night...

I have these preconceived ideas about French men who work in the fashion industry, but Fred Allard really changed all those stereotypes. He's such a down-to-earth guy who is so passionate about his work. Watch the video below where Fred talks about what inspires him and the future of Nine West...

The next day I ventured out to Nordstrom Fashion Valley (My favorite department store and former employer!) to view the exclusive collection for Nordstrom. Fred and Gossip Girl stylist, Eric Daman, talked about the different spring styles - which is something I should have paid more attention to, but I think I had ADHD that day. There were just too many pretty shoes to look at!

Eric Daman did take a few minutes to tell me about his creative process, shares some thoughts about how he started in fashion, plus he gives us his tips for spring 2010 fashion...

Spending Time With Nature = Beauty and Good Health

Although it is nice to go to a spa and get a massage to feel revitalized and relax tense muscles, for me nothing beats a nice weekend getaway where you can spend time with nature and just be in the moment.

I believe that connecting with nature is one of the keys to good health and happiness. With Earth Day approaching, I highly recommend taking even just a couple hours this week to sit outside and appreciate all the beautiful nature around you.

This past weekend I drove up to Big Bear Lake which is located here in Southern California. Big Bear is known for its ski summit and many people from San Diego or Los Angeles like to go there for a quick getaway because it's only a few hours away.

We hung out right on the lake for most of our stay and just soaked up all the nice, fresh air and beautiful surroundings. It made me think how much more relaxed and beautiful we could all be if we just stopped to enjoy nature once in awhile. Everyone we met who lives there was so nice. You can't help but be that way when you have so much beautiful nature around you!
