Besides saving you money over expensive (and over-hyped) department store skin creams, homemade skin creams can be far superior, both in quality and effectiveness, to anything bought over-the-counter. Furthermore, the ingredients that are added are fresh, all natural, and can be varied depending on your skin type.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The basic "au naturel" skin cream consists of the following four ingredients: blended oils, beeswax, coconut/cocoa butter, and grapefruit seed extract. Blended oils hydrate and nourish skin that has been stripped of its natural oils by washing, and by detergents such as sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). Beeswax forms a protective coating against the elements, such as sun and wind. Coconut or cocoa butter is a more viscous, solid, substance, and provides the base for the cream itself. Grapefruit seed extract is a natural antibiotic, preserving the cream against molds and other hungry life forms.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is great variety in the oils that are used to make up face creams. In order to find out which oils work best for your skin type, I recommend going to a local health food store and trying out small samples of the oils on your skin. Ideally, the oil should "take" and be absorbed by your skin without leaving too much greasy residue. Dry skin types will generally prefer the following oils: avocado oil (also good for sensitive and older skin), sesame oil (a natural sunscreen), peanut oil, and Shea butter (natural sunscreen). Oily skin types will prefer the following oils: jojoba oil (actually a liquid wax, and less greasy than most oils), and grapeseed oil (a dry oil). Wheat germ oil is high in many vitamins and minerals, and so is recommended for all skin types.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Though optional, queen bee's royal jelly and essential oils may also be added into the cream. Royal jelly has antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties, and is packed with rare vitamins and minerals that may promote revitalization and longevity, not only for the queen bee, but also for&lt;br /&gt;your skin . Essentials oils are fragrance oils from plants such as rose, lavender, etc. They can be added simply to scent the cream.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Once you have collected your ingredients, you may combine them using the following recipe:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2.5 oz oil or blended oils&lt;br /&gt;1.5 oz coconut/cocoa butter&lt;br /&gt;0.5 oz beeswax&lt;br /&gt;4 oz. distilled/purified water&lt;br /&gt;30 drops grapefruit seed extract&lt;br /&gt;0.5 oz royal jelly (optional)&lt;br /&gt;4-5 drops essential oil or oils (optional, and can be altered for a stronger/weaker scent)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You will also need a double-boiler, and either a hand or electric mixer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To preserve your cream as long as possible, cleanliness is vital during the actual preparation of the product. Therefore, before any actual ingredient mixing is to take place, pre-wash and dry all your utensils, especially the metal components of your mixer. This is also the reason why distilled/filtered water is recommended in the recipe, as opposed to regular (and possibly bacteria-infested) water.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now that everything is clean, place a pot of water on the stove and heat until the water is almost boiling. Then, place another pot or dish on the water, being careful to not let any of the hot water into this second pot. When all this is set up, combine the blended oils and beeswax in the "double boiler", allowing the ingredients to melt while stirring occasionally (about 10-15 minutes). Remove the melted oils and beeswax from the double boiler and slowly add in the distilled/purified water. Mix with a hand or electric mixer until the water is completely distributed throughout the cream. Making sure the cream is completely cooled, now stir in the grapefruit seed extract, royal jelly, and essential oils. Be careful to not add more essential oil than necessary, as this will make the cream go rancid. This recipe makes about 8 ounces of cream, and takes approximately 25 minutes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The cream should be stored in glass/plastic jars with screw top lids, and should keep for at least 4 months. If you see any kind of mold/bacteria thriving on it, though, throw it out. However in 1998, the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science reported that some sunscreens advertising UVA and UVB protection do not provide adequate safety from UVA radiation and could give sun tanners a false sense of protection.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For those who choose to tan, some dermatologists recommend the following preventative measures:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 204, 51);"&gt;* &lt;/span&gt;Make sure the sunscreen blocks both UVA and UVB rays. These types of sunscreens, called broad-spectrum sunscreens, contain more active ingredients. Return to horizontal position. And after she chopped off her hair into a Kate Gosselin-esque do, she chatted to PEOPLE.com exclusively about the funky new look. “I decided I had no more time to keep drying my hair with having to work late and get up early for the new VBites cafe and restaurant, factory, travelling, school drops, etcetera, so I chopped it off back to how I had it in my twenties,” she explained. And while Heather might be a long way from having to scrimp and save, following her $48.6 million divorce settlement last year, she didn’t splurge when it came to her new cut. “I asked a local village hairdresser if she would do it, and thought what the hell,” she says. “She did a great job. I love it. It’s easy. Any sexual intimacy that is enjoyable and pleasurable promotes well being by providing several physical and psychological benefits. It is believed that sex boosts chemicals in the body that protects us against diseases. Research also suggests that sex and masturbation can help ease joint and muscle pain, combat depression, promote heart health and lengthen one's life span."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dr. Samir Parikh, clinical physiatrist adds, "The basic fact is that a good sex life also means in a larger picture, a good relationship with one's partner and this makes the partner happier, less stressed and by virtue of that physically healthier."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Not just this, sex also accelerates blood circulation and one's basic metabolic rate, which further enhances the well-being of our mind and soul and helps us calm down.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On these emotional benefits, Dr Chugh adds, "A satisfying sexual relationship strengthens the bond between couples, making them feel secure and loved. The feeling of emotional connectedness adds to ones sense of belonging, which in totality helps them achieve a positive physical, psychological and spiritual state that is necessary for one's general health."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Elaborating further, on a scientific angle, Dr Avdesh Sharma, a consultant psychiatrist, and an expert on relationship issues shares, "Sex is a way of bonding at the physical, mental and emotional level and leads to health (including psychological) benefits. If it is used as a mechanical process, it may have limited benefits. There are physiological benefits of positive changes in parameters like pulse, heart rate, reduction in blood pressure (after an increase in B.P. specially if vigourous sex is tried), dilation of blood vessels and capillaries of the skin, leading to a 'glow', burning of a few calories (depending on the duration of the act and vigour), exercising of some of the muscles, thus improving lung capacity (during heavy breathing)."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, we also need to understand that sexual acts work more in terms of improving resistance, but are not a safe guard or a treatment to illnesses. Any sexual act can neither be used as a treatment nor would it change your stresses of life, which one would need to resolve irrespective.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"The extra edge of sex may be due to the feeling of being wanted, an expression of emotions and certain hormonal and physiological changes that happen as an expression of love for another individual. People prefer fast food because it is cheaper and more energy-dense per measure of weight than other healthier foods such as fruits and vegetables that are purchased in a grocery store.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To see whether the location of fast food restaurants in urban areas may contribute to obesity, researchers analysed data from a population health survey of 2900 Canadian adults (18 years or older) conducted in 2002 that was linked with geographic measures of access to food retailers. Based upon a ratio of the number of fast-food restaurants and convenience stores to supermarkets and specialty food stores, a Retail Food Environment Index (RFEI) was calculated for 800 m and 1600 m buffers around people's homes. font-weight: bold;"&gt;(worry/stress)&lt;/span&gt;, and who are constantly depressed tend to be obese, and to also seek comfort in foods that are mainly carbohydrates.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What could possibly be occurring in our brain to make us feel and behave this way?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 204, 51); All participants completed the American Time Use Survey between 2003 and 2006. The activities that the participants engaged in two hours before bed time were recorded.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Television viewing was by far the dominant pre-sleep activity, accounting for approximately 50 percent of pre-bed time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The authors of the study, Mathias Basner and David Dinges of the University of Pennsylvania, were surprised to find that watching television appeared to be the most important time cue for the beginning of the sleep period.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sleeping less than seven to eight hours daily hinders alertness and is associated with increased obesity, mortality and morbidity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dinges said `Given the relationship of short sleep duration to health risks, there is concern that many Americans are chronically under-sleeping due to lifestyle choices`.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dr. Basner added that `watching less television in the evening and postponing work start time in the morning appear to be the candidate behavioural changes for achieving additional sleep and reducing chronic sleep debt. font-weight: bold;"&gt;irl has 56 stars tattooed on face after 'falling asleep'&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A furious Belgian father has gone to the police after his teenage daughter ended up with 56 stars tattooed on her face after allegedly asking the tattooist for "some points of colour".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kimberley Vlaminck, 18, claimed that she asked for only three stars to be tattooed near her left eye as a present from her father, Diego, who was upholding a family tradition of tattoos.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"My father wanted to pay because in our family everyone has a tattoo," she said.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As her father ate an ice cream outside, Miss Vlaeminck claims she fell asleep before waking up to find her face covered in the "nightmare" tattoos.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"When he started to tattoo me, I did not feel pain and I fell asleep. I awoke as he tattooed me on the nose and I saw what he had done. I counted 56 stars," she said.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"I cannot go out on to the street, I am so embarrassed. I just look ugly, a freak, mutilated."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Miss Vlaeminck and her family are seeking damages worth £9,000 to pay for laser surgery to remove the tattoos.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But Rouslan Toumaniantz, who runs the Courtrai tattoo parlour called The Tattoo Box, has denied the allegations and demanded payment of 50 euros for the stars.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"She was awake all the time. I did not hypnotise or dope her, as they say, it was with agreement.
