Hi friends! I am Alyssa, beauxx.com Social Media Coordinator! I have been the one filling your Facebook and Instagram feeds with new arrival updates, blogger photos and all the other goodness beauxx.com has to offer. And now I'm here to talk about my recent trip to Miami! I'm not one to brag but this time I think I have bragging rights, I mean it is Miami we're talking about! So please, sit back, relax and enjoy the recap of my glorious trip (but seriously, the photos are the best part)!

Vacations are always a good way to clear the mind, replenish the soul and to be honest, just to escape for a few days! I've always been a big believer in that and seriously who doesn't love a good, sunny vacation? So that is exactly what I did a few weeks ago. I had this trip planned for a while so when that Friday morning came, I couldn't believe it. Miami here I come! I have family down in Homestead, FL about a 30-45 minute drive from downtown Miami (depending on traffic), so my first few days were spent with them, enjoying each others companying and talking about the old days.

While I was there, Ultra Music Festival was coming to an end, so naturally I had to attend. I have never been to a 'rave' before but I thought, "Hello! I'm in Miami and it's one of the greatest music festivals in the world so YES, COUNT ME IN!" Luckily my wonderful cousin was able to track down some last minute tickets for us, so off we went! We saw some very talented and well known DJs like Krewella, Knife Party, Nicky Romero and Steve Angello to name a few. It is definitely going on my list of fun things I have been lucky enough to do/attend this year. The music, the vibes, the food... it was all that I imagined and more!

Obviously visiting South Beach was a given. It was my time to relax and enjoy that beautiful Miami sun on my skin. It was a great Monday of people watching, sun bathing and the fresh Atlantic Ocean between my toes. I am really not one for the sand and heat but I was in Miami and the water was calling my name. It was just like I remembered and imagined it; colorful buildings, beautiful people, and palm trees like no other. And you best believe I made my way to the popular restaurant and bar Wet Willie's for a nice cold one and the famous Clevelander Hotel for a (few more) drinks!

My last day in this beautiful city, I had a nice brunch with my cousin Anna at Green Street Cafe in Coconut Grove. It was a perfect Tuesday to dress up, have a mimosa and indulge in some french toast, pancakes and bacon! We also decided to flaunt our gorgeous beauxx.com outfits because lets face it, our beauxx.com outfits were to die for! We looked the par walking the streets of Miami and they were screaming photo-shoot time! It was a well-worth extended weekend, but I am glad to be home and back to real life. So, until we meet again Miami, stay beautifully amazing!

Where To Eat

Djemaa el Fna

Unesco World Heritage site, Djemaa el Fna, is a famous square and marketplace in the Medina. By day, you’ll find snake charmers, acrobats and fortune tellers.

As evening approaches, smoke billows through the air bringing with it the scent of exotic spices and culinary creations. Food-stalls lining the square feature exotic fare like sheep head and fortunately (for some) selections more suitable for tamer palates!

Dar Moha

For a more elegant dining experience, visit Dar Moha. Situated in a former riad, Dar Moha has been converted into one of Marrakech's most popular restaurants. When you walk in, you are immediately taken in by your surroundings - lush banana trees and candlelit tables surround an intimate courtyard pool. Serene ambience and delicious food make for a fantastic dinner experience.

Where to Play

There are countless places to play in this desert playground. Here are two of our faves!

Le Comptoir

Chided as too touristy by some, Le Comptoir was just right for this American tourist. Come early evening to catch the belly dancers and party with well-heeled locals and European weekend visitors.

Be sure to reserve a table as maneuvering the bar can otherwise be a challenge.

Teatro

As its name implies, Teatro is all about the show. Stop by this place late night for fun, dancing and flirting with hot Casablanca finance guys visiting for the weekend!

Reinventing the ‘princess’ archetype.

L. A. designer Lauren Elaine Edleson specializes in creating fashions fit for a modern-day princess, and she’s fast developing an enthusiastic following among Hollywood starlets and others who want to rule at red carpet occasions.

Lauren’s styles are doing so well, in fact, that the woman behind the label deserves to boast. But the 27-year-old designer isn’t into that. Instead, she modestly says she’s grateful that things have turned out right because she never had formal design training and had to learn a lot about the business.

“Learning the business ropes was the biggest challenge in the beginning,” she admits. “It’s easy to get lost in the fun, creative side of fashion and forget that business is first and foremost."

No matter, plenty of determination and tons of natural talent have combined to make her career take off. And today her star continues to rise with three divisions: the Black Label collection of flirty, feminine gowns and cocktail dresses; a Black Label swimwear line; accessories, and Laine by Lauren Elaine casual-lifestyle clothes.

With so much going on in her sketchbook, workdays are super-busy. But Lauren seems to thrive on the pace and has clearly found her calling.

Angelina Pitt of La Maison de Fashion, a brand and marketing boutique in Los Angeles, praises the young designer’s drive and abilities. “We enjoy having her as one of our featured designers, and we’re always on our toes to receive her latest collections,” Pitt declares.

Born in San Diego, Lauren was busy mastering the sewing machine at age 6 (Mom enrolled her creative daughter in classes). At age 13, modeling scouts spotted Lauren in a downtown mall and throughout high school her beauty won prestigious assignments with high-profiled clients such as Seventeen Magazine, Chanel and Nordstrom. College days were spent at the University of Texas at Austin where she focused on film production/art direction.

Austin’s artistic atmosphere encouraged Lauren to express herself by making unique clothes for herself and a few good customers. She began using the internet as a fashion-marketing tool, and also dabbled in acting, winning roles in music videos and films such as Miramax’s “Sin City.”

Graduation brought her back to California to pursue acting/ modeling/ fashion fulltime. She modeled for many advertising campaigns and will soon be seen starring in a feature film “Memphis Rising: Elvis Returns,” But her clothing label, launched in 2008-09, gets priority.

“I’m taking real pride in making a quality product and using my former modeling experience to direct my runway shows,” she says.

Lauren’s designs, so cool on the runway, have won raves during California fashion weeks. The styles have appeared in Vogue and Women’s Wear Daily. And you can shop the collection at select boutiques and online.

Future plans?

“Even more regal and elegant things,” Lauren promises. She wants her design image to remain youthful and modern, of course, but also to be timeless and appeal to “princesses” of all ages.
