"Louis" Vintage Knitting Machine w/ Carrying Case

This is a cool find. This is a vintage, "Louis" brand knitting machine in its very own carrying case. The case can even be hung on a wall out of the way.

I am selling it "as is". I have not used it because I do not know how to thread a knitting machine.

There is one attachment and the arm that guides the thread. Also included is a small brush to remove the yarn particles. These snap in place inside the case so they are not damaging the needle hooks.

It measures approximately
36 inches (92 cm) long
6 1/2 inches wide (17 cm)
2 1/2 inches deep (6.5 cm)

Its pretty heavy as it is metal construction. It was approx. 14.5 lbs or 6.6kg

I am not sure how much this is worth. I am open to offers.

Funky Multi Yarn Fashion Scarf

I used multilple types of yarns of different shades and types.

It's light weight and very interesting to study. LOL

Not everyone can learn to crochet by reading a book. When you can watch over someones shoulder, getting the view on the work the same way that you will view it as your working it, makes it a lot easier to learn. Some of you may find it easier to have both a crochet book and this How~to video handy when learning the basics of how to crochet.

It's really simple to learn the basics crochet stitches. I'm not bragging when I say I am self taught. That I learned when I was 13yrs old. The point is that it really is that simple and anyone can learn.

This video will really help get you going in the right direction.

Just think, soon you to will be crocheting up hats and scarfs, doilies and more. Maybe one day you will want to take on a blanket or a sweater set!

Crocheted Baby Beret Hat

I love seeing babies wear beret style hats. I just wish I had one that I could have modeled this one for you.

This one is crocheted in a boucle, acrylic yarn. Unless you look at it really closely, you can hardly tell if it was a knited or crocheted hat. It's a nice light weight hat. I would say perfect for a spring day or a cooler summer day.

This is a One of a Kind hat. Its my own design pattern. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Sorry that the picture doesnt do the hat justice. I will add more pics to the etsy listing once I have them looking better.

Hello Readers!

I hope you had a marvelous Christmas, Hanukkah or whatever you were celebrating this season.
I celebrated Christmas with my hubby, mother and my youngest son and spent a great deal of my time on the phone with my other kids.

I spent quite a bit of time baking and giving away treats this year, but not as much as I did when the kids were younger. Personally, I like the homemade gifts that I receive much better than the do-dads that can be bought in the stores all year round.

One year my sister knitted me a pink sweater. She must think I am a lot bigger than I am because it was many many, did I say many sizes too big for me. But I still wore it. It became my favorite sweater when I was pregnant with my son in the dead of winter though.

Every time I wore it, I thought of all the hours she took knitting it and that it was made for just me. Every time she sat down and picked up those knitting needles, she had to think about me.

You don't get those feelings from an object that someone rushed out to the mall to grab off the shelf for you. The person who did the shopping isnt going to work thinking of the gifts recipient all those hours at work while the worked for the money to make the purchase. But when someone sits down and knits, crochets, bakes or whatever have you, you can be sure they are thinking of the recipient in the back of their minds.

So to me, a home made gift is far superior to anything anyone can buy for me.

Reliving the Good Ol' Days

Have you noticed when you listen to a favorite old song from way back when, when you were growing up you could almost feel yourself there again? Or maybe an old TV show you used to watch? I feel that way when I play some of the old games we used to play when we were kids. :)

I found these games from the 80's trivia craze dayz. You remember when you played Trivial Pursuit or Super Quiz?

Trivial Pursuit was just too hard for a kid my age but Super quiz was waay better and easier. At least I could answer some of the questions and I felt a lot smarter at the end of the game. When I played Trivial Pursuit... well it was just too hard for a 10yr old.

A Goldmine In Crafting Supplies

I am always on the look out for sales and deals on my favorite mediums to work with. My eyes are automatically scanning everywhere I go for the bright twinkle of beads and bold color yarns.

The other day I was in my local thrift shop, which happens to be in a small room at the back of one of the heritage churches in my little town of Clinton. On that particular day, they were holding their monthly "bag sale".

If you are not clear on what a "bag sale" is all about I will tell you. At the particular shop I visit, a lady welcomes you at the door with a smile and a white, plastic, grocery bag. Anything you can get into the bag is on sale. Fill the bag and tie it. They are adamant that you must be able to tie the bag. Each bag costs $3.00. They have a limit of 5 bags per person.

Personally, I love thrift stores. I know for a fact, that no matter how much money I make, I will always go to thrift shops and second hand stores. I find all kinds of cool and interesting things there. If you are into anything "vintage", then you probably know what I'm talking about.

But on this particular day that I was in there, I found a mountain of brand new yarn. I was in crocheters heaven! I found balls and balls of matching lots. I found baby yarn, Red Heart yarn, Astra yarn, and gorgeous yarns for sweaters.

I filled the bags and I had about 4 bags full! WOWeee!

My head has been spinning ever since planning and deciding what to create with each different color. On Sunday, I spread all the yarn out that I bought and what I already have stored here at home to see what looks good together. Checking to see if I already had some of the same yarn types and weights to make a larger project and just reveling in the wonderful colors of yarns!

Okay I was a bit distracted off my original idea for this post by all that yarn. LOL

Not only did I find all that lovely yarn, but I also found more than 10 packages of brand new and sealed hem /eam facings. Many many colors and sizes.

You can see from the pictures how much stuff I crammed into those 4 bags. But I was taking it all! LOL

If you were to take the time to add up what I could have spent going to a retail store for the same amount of yarn. Whew!

Let's say each ball of yarn costs an average of $3 each (and that doesn't include taxes which is 12% here) and each seam binding is about $1 ea.
There were about 54 full balls of yarn. I counted only the ones that had at least 3/4 unused.

I would have spent a little over $160 dollars and another $10 for the binding packages.

I picked it all up for a mere $12.

So my point is, don't over look thrift stores. Sometimes people just want to thin out their collection of stuff and give it away. Im really glad they gave it to the thrift store though. It not only benefited me and my compulsive yarn habbit but it also helped a charity in my local area.

A win win for everyone!

Pretty Flowered Granny Square Blanket

Nothing is cuter than Granny Squares.

This is a blanket for a baby girl. Crocheted in a medium purple and multi mixed confetti colored 100% acrylic yarns.

Most of the squares are the traditional Granny Squares and some of the squares are Flowered Granny Squares.

Although these types of blankets work up fairly quickly, they do use quite a bit of yarn.

Sweet Lil Baby Girl's Rose Hat and Sweater Set

I have to say this has got to be the cutest set I have ever made. This is a 100% one of a kind creation of mine.

This is a medium weight sweater, perfect for spring or fall. Its been crocheted with a very fine yarn 100% acrylic in little tiny double crochet stitches.
When I finished the sweater and hat, they seemed to be missing something. It was already a very feminine looking set and I wanted it to have a splash of color. I could have added several other different accents to the set of different mediums but I wanted it to be easy to care for by its new owner. Pretty dainty crocheted roses seem to fit the set the best.

I think its the crocheted roses that make this a real eye catcher. I can see it on a precious new spring baby on Easter Sunday.

This sweater set will fit newborns up to 6mos old. Depending on the baby.

Measurements are approx.

My Favorite Beaded USA Flag Lighter Cover

This has got to be my favorite lighter cover I have done so far. Even though I am a Canadian, I love the bold, unique USA flag. It's stunning. So of course I created a lighter cover all beaded and cute. It certainly covers up those ugly bic lighters and turm them into beautiful pieces of art that stimulate conversation.

Every Farm Needs a Bull.

Every farm needs a bull.

My son has his own talents. Someone bought him some clay for Christmas one year.
He decided he wanted to make some fridge magnets with it. The smart little cookie took a bull off of an old trophy someone had from the 4H club. He pressed the bull into clay. Then he let that dry then painted and glazed it. Voila! A mold to make many many bulls. Wasn't that clever?

Then he pressed the clay back into his mold making sure every little nook and craney had clay in it. Ever so carefully he pulled the clay out and fixed any little cracks or tears that happened. He would then dry them, paint and glaze them and glue a magnet onto the back. Aren't they cute?

He did the same thing with horses, cows and cowboys riding horses. They are simply adorable.

This magnet is about 3.5 inches high with a good strong magnet to hold your grocery list on the fridge. His listing is here in my etsy shop

Ying Yang Cigarette Lighter Cover

Some of the things from the 60s decade are just as cool now as they were then. Even more so cuz now they are considered "Retro".
I designed this Ying Yang lighter cover and beaded it myself. Its a one of a kind item. I didn't even write the pattern out.

Its done in a pearlized white bead with regular white and black beads for the symbol. The ying yang is featured on both sides of the lighter cover. It will fit the standard size Bic Lighters.
