So, Sarah did get sick after her immunizations. Did you know that infant Tylenol has been recalled. I looked at 2 stores with no luck. They didn’t even have an off brand. Well, Starrie suggested Smiths and they did have a good off brand that we could use. What really sucked was that I was trying to get her medicine before work but I didn’t count in no one having any. Oh and I have to Thank Starrie who babysitted for me while i was at work even though there was a good chance that Sarah would get sick.
Anyway Sarah is a very cute sick baby. She did cry a little bit but it wasn’t too bad. Mostly she laid around and looked pathetic but a cute “I’m sick, feel bad for me” type of pathetic. She also had a cough and stuffy nose. She was less active. She still did baby talk but it had the “I’m sick” tone to it. Is it sad that I think she was cute when she was sick.I have high hopes that she will be a cute sick kid how likes to cuddle with mom and dad, not a annoying, complaining sick kid. Well, Sarah is feeling a little bit better now, she is a lot more active and seems happier. Well, that’s it.

Actually she is older than that, but I’m behind.

Sarah has done a lot in the last two months.

Sleeping- Sarah can sleep all night. She sleeps goes to bed sometime between 10:30 and 12:30 and usually wakes up around 7-8:30. Every few days she will wake up at 5 to eat but then she goes back to sleep and it’s not everyday. I am so grateful for the sleep. She also did it by herself so I didn’t have to “sleep train” her or anything like that. Yes, I know I am so lucky!

Eating- There hasn’t been any new developments on this matter because she is still too young to eat real food. Sarah eats anywhere from 4-6 oz when feed a bottle.

Playing- Sarah is still very active. She can still roll over from her stomach to her back (but that’s nothing new, she’s been doing that since she was 2 weeks old). Sarah’s new trick is that she will “walk”. Basically if you hold her up she will place one foot in front of the other. It is super cute.

Talking- Sarah now makes fun baby talk noises. She makes a lot of goos and woos and such. She will just talk for over half an hour.

Smiling- Sarah now smiles a lot. When you smile at her she will smile back like nothing you could have done would make her happier. Not to sound cheesy but nothing can warm my heart more.

Toys
Sarah still doesn’t like a lot of toys. She does like looking at two things: a mirror and the fish tank. She will sit in front of the fish tank and stare at the fish and start talking to them. It also makes her stop crying when she’s sad. With mirrors she will smile at her self. It is really cute.

July 29 and 30

On Thursday and Friday I got to hang out with Mark and Emily at Justin and Beth’s. I got to see both sets of twins! Mark and Emily had their 5 1/2 month olds named Elizabeth and Mark. Justin and Beth had their 3 day old twins Lindsey and Luke. They were so cute. It was also the first time Mark, Emily, and Beth got to see Sarah.

Friday July 30

We also got to hang out at Jared’s Mom’s house and see Jared’s sister, Nicia and her two kids Alyssa and Logan. It was the first time that Nicia got to see Sarah too. Sorry no pictures though

Saturday July 31

On Saturday we went to the Thanksgiving Point Farm with my sister Katie’s family and my brother David’s family. It was really hot but I think we had fun. It was the first time that Katie and her family had seen Sarah. I think the other kids had a lot of fun on the farm, but Sarah slept through most of it. Oh well.

Sunday August 1

Monday August 2

This was my first day back to work. I brought Sarah the first day back to show her off. She was alright, but it was still stressful to have her at work with me. Luckly, my sister-in-law volunteered to help babysit her while I’ll at work (THANKS STARRIE). Everyone at work said that she is way cute and looks like me. One person said that she had “intelligent eyes” and another said that she looks like a Sarah. Well, it was interesting, bringing her to work, but I’ll glad that I don’t have to bring her to work everyday. It was fun going back to work, I’m looking forward to starting back

Tuesday August 3

On this day we went back to Thanksgiving Point. It was $2 Tuesday. Where all the main attractions are only $2. We decided to go to the Dinosaur Museum. Let me tell you if you hate crowds never go to the Dinosaur Museum on a $2 Tuesday. It was packed. The line was out the door, inside was even worse. We had a huge group too. There was my Mom and Dad, Katie, Corban, Ariana, Joyce, Trevor, Elaine, Cory, Hailey, Brooke, Ryan, Aunt Kathy and her grandson, Bjorn, my cousin Jill, and her two kids. Oh and me and Sarah. I hope I got everyone. I think we had fun even if it was packed.

Afterward we had a picnic outside. The kids had a lot of fun climbing the tree.

After our lunch we decided to check out some of the gardens. After all it was $2 Tuesday. We only went to the water falls and then back, but it was fun. It wasn’t crowded like the Dinosaur Museum and was nice. So if you do the the Two Dollar Tuesdays at Thanksgiving Point (It runs through August) go to the gardens but not the museum. It was hot, but at least there were trees throughout the gardens. I liked looking through them. I’ll have to go back, it was my first time going.

Wednesday August 4

We went to the zoo. It was Sarah’s first time at the zoo. She did well, but I’m afraid that she didn’t appreciate it that much.  We had a huge group there too. Our group consisted of: Becky, Sarah, Justin, Nathan, Hailey, Brooke, Katie, Corban, Ariana, Joyce, Trevor, Elaine, Cory, my mom, my dad, Laurie, and Caleb. I hope I got everyone. I got there a little late and missed the bird show. But we got to see a lot of animals. The Tigers were especially interesting because they were roaming. Then I always love the giraffes. I would have to say those were my two favorites. We had a lot fun although it felt a little bit short, since kids get tired. It was my last day with my family in town so going to the zoo ended it with a bang.

I’m really excited about the 6 week mark. If you haven’t had kids, just know that 6 weeks is a pretty big benchmark. Six weeks is when the mommy should be mostly recovered from a vaginal delivery and can really start exercising and such. I unfortunately won’t have my 6 week appointment until Monday because the doctor that delivered Sarah won’t be in until that day. Six weeks is also when babies start to sleep more and/or you can start sleep training them. Anyway, to me 6 weeks is when you can really start to get your life back or at least figure out what your new life is going to be.

Sarah’s Development

Sleeping: Sarah has been sleeping so well this last week. At the beginning she did 3 consistent 4 hour stretches of sleep. Then we went on the road trip for a night (so that doesn’t count), then she slept 5 hours for two nights in a row and last night she got 6 hours of sleep. Hurray! That is so nice. I love it. She is progressing so nice by herself that I’m hoping it won’t take much intervention before she sleeps through the night, well even more. Hurray (knock on wood so there isn’t a relapse into bad sleeping habits.)

Eating: Sarah started out as only an okay eater. She would latch on, suck a few times and then unlatch so that I was consistently re-latching her throughout the whole feeding. I said okay because at least she would latch on, it just didn’t last very long. Now she can pretty much stay latched. It is so nice. Now I feel like she is actually getting enough to eat, that is if she doesn’t fall asleep. It also cuts the time it takes her to eat down significantly. And her efficiency allows me to be able to do more while she is eating, hurray for multitasking.

Playing: Sarah is very active. She has been active since she came home. She could get on her side a few days after birth. She rolled over at just over 2 weeks old. She is getting better at holding her head up and does so a lot. It’s not perfect or all the time but she does it a lot. She does the crawling motion with her feet when we have tummy time and seems really strong. I predict that she will be an early crawler but you never know. It is fun to watch her be so active and try so hard to be mobile. I’m sure when she is mobile we will wish she wasn’t but it is very fun to watch.

Sentiments:  It is so fun to have our little Sarah. It feels like more than 6 weeks that we have had her, but at the same time I can’t believe we are at the 6 week mark. When she was first born it felt like so far away and now I can’t believe I’m here. I can still say that it doesn’t feel like we have had her forever because I feel like I’m still learning how to be a mommy, but it is much easier. I guess that I will always be learning how to be a mommy though because she will be growing and changing so my mommy skills will have to grow and change with her.

July 6, 2010 We fed Sarah her first bottle

Jared fed Sarah her first bottle. Jared said she took it really easily, unfortunately I hadn’t pumped enough and had to finish off with breastfeeding.

July 9-10, 2010 Sarah’s longest road trip

Sarah went from Provo to Idaho Fall, about 4 hours. She did pretty well we stopped once each way to feed her, but overall it wasn’t a nightmare so I call it a success. To read more on the subject see our previous post.
