Pro-life Activist Murdered Outside School

A well-known anti-abortion activist was shot multiple times and killed Friday morning in front of a Michigan high school, and another man was shot and killed just miles away in what police are investigating as related incidents.

From Lifenews:

LifeNews.com has learned that the pro-life advocate is James Pouillon and the local Argus Press newspaper in Owosso has confirmed that to be the case. He was reportedly shot multiple times.
In the spot where the Pouillon stood, a portable oxygen tank lay next to a sign with a picture of an unborn child and the word "Life."
Father Frank Pavone, the director of Priests for Life, has commented on the shooting in an email to LifeNews.com.

"We do not know the motive yet. But this is a time to console one
another, and to renew our determination to organize peaceful protests," he said. "It is no time for fear."

Pavone called on abortion advocates to comdemn the shooting.

"And I am waiting to hear the abortion advocates condemn this killing," he said.

This Michael Jackson post is actually about the people of Iran

When news broke yesterday that Michael Jackson had died, I thought to myself, "Wow, Michael Jackson is dead. Crazy."

Within seconds the following thoughts proceeded:

If I was an Iranian protestor being shot at right now while fighting for my rights, I would be really pissed at the media right now. This would be worse news for me if I was one of them.
Hey, wasn't this the guy who was repeatedly accused of child molestation, mutilated his own face and dangled his infant child over the balcony of a building? Did I just hear him described in heroic terms just because he could dance and just died unexpectedly? Weird how that happens when famous people die...
Well, I guess it was unexpected to a point. Anyone who saw pictures of him in the last several years probably shouldn't be too stunned that he had some serious health issues that could reasonably lead to death. Really, it's not weird that someone with that lifestyle died in this manner, though it is unfortunate.
Jackson did have some fun music (though I have never wanted to buy it). I was reminded when my neighbors started blasting it last night. I get it. He was a HUGE celebrity. It's news.
But I'm still more concerned about the Iranians and how this could effect their cause in a global sense, even though our media isn't. Nor are some of my Facebook friends, though I theorize some of those same people probably never gave much thought to the news from Iran, let alone know what Iran is.
That makes me angry.
I'm over the gratuitous Michael Jackson coverage and celebrity worship. It's out of control.

In fact, there are a lot of things I'm more concerned about: Iran, Neda's family, North Korea, our troops overseas, Darfur, the kids waiting to be sponsored through Compassion International, our economy and the frightening government overreach that will only make it worse, cap and trade, thousands of unborn babies being killed each day in the US through abortion, etc. The list goes on, but you get the idea.

Today, I hoped people would get a grip on life and mourn the loss of Jackson with some self-control and perspective. Congress did what they've become too good at doing and ruined any hopes quickly by using taxpayer funded time to praise Jackson's "grace" and "mercy," punctuated with a moment of silence. Then, I turned on Fox News to hear a host say they have breaking news that Elizabeth Taylor reportedly collapsed at the news of Jackson's death. I'm not making that up. That was "news" today.

I had to dig past the Jackson coverage today to find the real breaking news at ABC news:

A senior cleric on Friday urged Iran's protest leaders to be punished "without mercy" and said some should face execution — harsh calls that signal a nasty new turn in the regime's crackdown on demonstrators two weeks after its disputed election.
Hard-liners have ordered long sentences and hangings before, and some fear those awaiting trial by a judiciary whose verdicts reflect the will of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei could face the most severe punishments the Islamic system can dish out.
"Anyone who takes up arms to fight with the people, they are worthy of execution," Ayatollah Ahmed Khatami, a ranking cleric, said in a nationally broadcast sermon at Tehran University.

I'm not the only one concerned about the coverage today. Some blogs and websites understand; just don't turn on the television. The Daily Beast is running an article with the headline "Will Jacko Doom Iran?" Click here to read the entire piece:

Rubin cited Sudan as an example of where international pressure, encouraged by heavy media coverage, helped force the government to significantly reduce violence.
“It's a sad commentary that celebrity still trumps national security in news coverage, but that’s the world we live in,” he said.
It's not just Rubin at the right-leaning American Enterprise Institute who has voiced concern. National-security blogger Spencer Ackerman, a prominent commentator on the progressive side, also raised the issue on his site.
“I think we can agree that the Iranian regime benefits from the media rush to memorialize, explore and reflect upon Michael Jackson and his legacy,” Ackerman wrote in a blog post last night. In an e-mail interview, Ackerman told the Beast that “anything that takes up Twitter bandwidth away from [the Iran election] is bad for the opposition, and anything that distracts the cable networks from showing images of the crackdown is similarly bad.” He added that the international media distractions could give the regime "more room to violently suppress its opposition during a critical phase.”

Look, I don't care if fans are out having their own gatherings to remember his music. I don't care if the radio stations and MTV play his music all day long. That's where the attention belongs. It does not belong in Congress on the taxpayers' dime, and it is no longer breaking news deserving of 24 hour, full banner coverage. There are more important stories for the media to focus on. Tonight, I'm giving my personal attention to the stories of women living under the repressive and violent Iranian regime. I'm going to see The Stoning of Soraya M. You should too. You can't bring Michael Jackson back, but you can become more educated about the ongoing situation in Iran and repressed people around the world, and we can stand with those fighting it to make a difference in people's lives right now.

After another unfortunate shooting at the hand of a crazy man took place in D.C. at the Holocaust Museum yesterday, the perpetrator was immediately characterized as a radical "right - winger" by the media and opportunistic liberal bloggers. How do they know he's "right - wing" though? Among the groups and people the murderer James von Brunn hated:

I noted yesterday and this morning that Holocaust Museum nutball was an equal-opportunity hater. He railed against Fox News and Rupert Murdoch.

The anti-semitism of von Brunn is the first thing one notices when visiting these bizarre websites. However, like those of most "white supremacists", many of von Brunn's political views track "Left" rather than "Right." Clearly, a re-evaluation of these obsolete definitions is long overdue.
For example, he unleashed his hatred of both Presidents Bush and other "neo-conservatives" in online essays. As even some "progressives" such as the influential Adbusters magazine publicly admit, "neoconservative" is often used as a derogatory code word for "Jews". As well, even a cursory glance at "white supremacist" writings reveals a hatred of, say, big corporations that is virtually indistinguishable from that of anti-globalization activists.
James von Brunn's advocacy of 9/11 conspiracy theories also gives him an additional commonality with individuals on the far-left.

The Weekly Standard:

Two other sources said two FBI agents arrived shortly after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the 17th Street offices of the magazine. They told staffers that they had found the address of the magazine on a piece of paper associated with the shooter, James von Brunn, and asked whether the Standard had received any threats.
The magazine is about a mile north of the Holocaust Museum, and there's no other indication that von Brunn had targeted it. Von Brunn's published rants included attacks on "neocons," and the Standard has been at the heart of the neoconservative movement.

If Von Brunn shared the anti-Christian hatred expressed by Revilo Oliver, he accepted the collectivist, socialist views of Francis Parker Yockey, a guiding light and philosopher of fascism unafraid of aligningwith Third World socialists.

The Other McCain:

Having done a bit of sifting of the facts on James Von Brunn, exactly how does a neocon-hating 9/11 Truther (e.g., Rosie O'Donnell) qualify as "right-wing," extreme or otherwise?

There's a definitional problem here, and when you blame Rush Limbaugh, Ms. Walsh, you are trying to have your neocon-hating cake and eat it, too. (Via Memeorandum.)

But all the contrary evidence has not stopped those who also hate conservatives from trying to label this an act of "right wing terrorism" with no evidence to back their knee-jerk claim. Here's just a few samples.

Desperate Abortionist Needs A History Lesson (and other Tiller news)

The late Dr. Tiller's family announced yesterday that Tiller's clinic, Women's Health Care Services, Inc.,will close for good. Despite the singular murder of Tiller, I am very happy his mill will be closed and no longer in the business of killing thousands of late-term babies. Jill Stanek reported on the developmen t. From KWCH:

In a statement released by Tiller's attorneys, the late-term abortion provider's family said it was "ceasing operation of the clinic and any involvement by family members in any other similar clinic."

Before you think any longer about my reaction to this news above, consider this: If Michael Vick was attacked for dog fighting, Heaven forbid, I would not expect anyone to mourn the cessation of his dog fighting rings afterwards. Nor would you. Greg Gutfeld, host of Fox News's "Red Eye", has some thoughts over at Big Hollywood about the ongoing media coverage of Tiller's death and priorities:

It’s not about Tiller’s murder being wrong. I get that. That’s not the issue. This issue is, when you make priorities of “stuff that’s wrong” - is it more wrong to kill a dumpster full of viable babies, than to kill the doc who fills that dumpster?

Then there was also this gem reported by the Washington Times on Monday, emphasis added:

Nebraska abortion doctor LeRoy Carhart called on the federal government Monday to treat all activities by "anti-choice domestic terrorists" as hate crimes after last week's fatal shooting of Dr. George Tiller.
"This is the equivalent of Martin Luther King being assassinated," he said of the killing of one of the nation's best known late-term abortion doctors. "This is the equivalent of Pearl Harbor, the sinking of the Lusitania and any other major historic event where we've tolerated the intolerable for too long."
Scott P. Roeder, 51, has been charged with first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action in the Tiller case.
"I think there is absolutely no difference in putting a cross in front of a person's home because of what race they belong to than there is putting a cross in front of our homes because we do abortions," he said.

Okay, abortionist Carhart ignorant jackass, since you can't see the difference yourself, we'll explain it for you. Hereditary traits such as race, gender, and height are inherently very different than career paths and actions chosen by individuals. One's right to choose certain actions that affect other people's health and lives is not on the same level as one's right to not be legally discriminated against on the basis of one's skin.

Martin Luther King Jr. was not known for killing thousands of babies for money; he was known for fighting for human rights and equal recognition by law for all living humans in our society. Much to Carhart's dismay, that's what pro-lifers are also fighting for every day, on behalf of unborn living humans. Tiller wasn't protested daily due to any trait he was born with or any condition he developed, though ironically, those are some of the grounds upon which he killed living humans in the womb; he was protested because of the job that he chose and for the loss of life he was willfully responsible for.

This abortionist, with an obvious lack of basic historical knowledge, also equated Cemetery of the Innocents displays with burning KKK crosses in people's yards. Yes, he thinks that old ladies and students putting crosses in the ground on public property near abortion clinics to represent abortion victims is just like hooded racist groups burning crosses in people's yards while encouraging lynchings of the residents simply because of their skin color.

This is all so asinine I know even Carhart himself doesn't really believe a word of it. He's just desperately grasping for a way to reinforce his own bloody abortion business.

King's niece Dr. Alveda King responded to this cry for sympathy from the abortionist. From CNSNews:

"For LeRoy Carhart to mention the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who worked through peaceful and non-violent means, in the same breath with that of George Tiller, whose work ended peace and brought violence to babies in the womb, is offensive beyond belief," Dr. Alveda King, pastoral associate of Priests for Life, said in a statement. "The analogy is just wrong."

And one more thing about that "abortionist like King" jargon: Anyone who argues that what Tiller did as an abortionist is "legal" and therefore above reproach (to say nothing of whether he strayed from Kansas law or not) should also consider that the segregation King fought was legal when he fought it. That didn't make the discrimination right, and it certainly doesn't diminish the fight against it in history. Abortion may be legal now, but that does not diminish how wrong the killing is or the fight against it.

He finally has something to say about the U.S. soldier being gunned down by a radical Muslim this week; however, as the Weekly Standard reports below, the statement and its delivery reveals a lot about the President's views on the difference between murdering an abortionist and murdering a soldier:

After two days of silence, President Obama issued a statement Wednesday on the shooting of two U.S. soldiers by a Muslim militant in Arkansas--but the White House didn't even email the statement to its list of national reporters. Rather, the White House appears to have quietly released this statement to a local AP bureau in Arkansas (via Michelle Malkin):
“I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss of their son.” (emphasis mine)
In contrast, the White House blasted a statement to reporters via email about five hours after news broke that third-trimester abortionist George Tiller was murdered on Sunday:
I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.(emphasis mine)
The contrast between Obama's statements is striking: He's "deeply saddened" by the murder of a U.S. soldier, but "shocked and outraged" by the murder of an abortionist? The murder of a U.S. soldier is a "senseless" act of violence but the murder of an abortionist is a "heinous" act of violence?

Back Off, Haters

Bill O’Reilly and many Americans consistently denounce child molesters and fight to prevent crimes against children with tough languageand legal action. If a random person who agrees with this anti-molestation sentiment kills someone charged with crimes against children, would O’Reilly and all anti-molestation activists be accused of having the molester’s blood on their hands? Would it mean that raving MSNBC anchors and blog readers would blame anti-molestation advocates for murder on the grounds that they called child predators exactly what they are and urged legal action against them in order to defend children from heinous crimes? No, that would be ridiculous.

Or try this: If someone passionately anti-dog abuse attacked Michael Vick, would everyone else adamantly against animal abuse need to feel responsible for the attack? Would anyone who accurately called Vick a dog killer be viciously attacked for those words? And would people instinctively jump to defend violence against dogs, rather than simply condemn a criminal attack on Vick? No, that would be rather sickening too.

That is what happened to the pro-life movement this week, after someone rightfully opposed to killing unborn babies wrongfully murdered Kansas abortionist Dr. George Tiller. Murder at either man’s hand was condemnable, but that isn’t how bitter people opposed to pro-life activism addressed the murder of Tiller. O’Reilly was verbally charged with contributing to the murder for speaking out against Tiller’s 60,000 plus late-term abortions. I was called a murderer on my blog, because I’m pro-life. Pro-choice radicals refer to pro-life activists, Christians and conservatives as terrorists for speaking truth about abortion, something they vehemently hate hearing and crave to silence, even by exploiting the murder of Tiller. This revealing display of bitter hatred this week was reprehensible.

Quick! Someone call Eric Holder and tell him to rush U.S. Marshals to military recruitment centers across the country! From katv.com today:

Little Rock - One person is dead, another seriously injured, and a third is in custody following a double shooting in west Little Rock Monday morning.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. at a U.S. Army Navy Career Center inside the Ashley Square Shopping Center at 9112 North Rodney Parham Road. According to Lt. Terry Hastings with the Little Rock Police Department, two enlisted soldiers standing outside the office were hit when the unidentified suspect drove up and began shooting.

Both of the wounded were taken to a nearby hospital, where one of the victims died a short time later, according to police.

In case you think U.S. Marshals would be an overreaction, consider that a) Attorney General Holder deployed them over the lone Tiller killing this weekend without many facts in and b) that violence and vandalism at recruitment centers is actually a frequent occurrence.

But seriously, pray for these victims and their families in addition to the family of George Tiller today.

Predicted Pro-abortion Exploitation Begins

Attorney General Directs U.S. Marshals to Protect Abortion Providers After Murder
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder dispatched the U.S. Marshals Service to protect "appropriate people and facilities around the nation" in the wake of the murder of late-term abortion provider Dr. George Tiller in Wichita, Kansas on Sunday morning.
U.S. Marshals spokesman Jeff Carter, who confirmed the new security measures, told FOX News, "I can not disclose the subjects of our security efforts as it is the policy of the U.S. Marshals not to comment on the status of any protective detail."

Oh really? I didn't know that was a normal reaction by the federal government to lone shootings. Maybe that's because when pastors are targeted, they don't send out the U.S. Marshals to protect churches and pastors across the country. Where was their U.S. Marshal protection, huh? I guess that's just a special action we save for those carrying out the liberal sacrament of abortion.

I am against anti-choice on people murdering abortionists or attacking clinics. And the truth is that this is an occurrence much less frequent than many other forms of targeted violence. In fact, pro-abortion violence is rather frequent, deadly church shootings are more frequent, and students at school know they are a most popular target. Admittedly violent animal right groups have strapped firebombs to people's cars. No U.S. Marshals to the rescue?

The U.S. Marshal order is nothing more than a move to exploit the killing of Tiller to intimidate pro-lifers and end their growing, peaceful presence at clinics, because it has has been so successful at saving lives by changing minds at clinics. The completely peaceful 40 Days for Life has been devastating to the abortion business, a large threat to those who truly are pro-abortion. Don't be fooled - some people are genuinely pro-abortion in the most meaningful sense. That's why they are against any policy designed to improve safety for women that would also decrease abortion rates. That's why they send out U.S. Marshals to abortion clinics after one nut kills an abortionist in a lone shooting, the first instance like this in 10 years.

The murder of Tiller is an opportunity for pro-aborts to seize and prevent the increasing success of the pro-life movement in recent years. This is an act of intimidation against the little old ladies and peaceful sidewalk counselors legally praying and talking with women outside of abortion mills; they hope that they'll pull back their efforts in the wake of this murder and the government's response. They hope everyone else will think nothing of this government action, since a man was killed. We can't let that happen.

I think it is clear that pro-lifers should have a reinforced dedication to their prayerful presence outside of abortion clinics and affiliated locations. And they better have some cameras handy to film the violence and intimidation they face, with no one there to protect them from threats (which I've faced myself on multiple occasions). But pro-lifers should not be scared and berated into believing that what they are doing is anything but peacefully calling out the truth and reaching out to people in need to save lives, having nothing to do with this lone incident of murder.

And there is still mass killing happening today, without any U.S. Marshals deployed to prevent it. It's happening inside these clinics. Go there, pro-lifers, and pray for all those inside. Offer love and alternative option counseling. Don't stop calling abortion out for what it is with activism, lobbying, and media. Pray more. The hand of God is far stronger than our own, and those babies and women deserve our courage to put this pro-abortion exploitation and intimidation into perspective for their sake.

Shocking News - Dr. Tiller Murdered

I got a call this morning from a friend in the pro-life movement, with this shocking news:

WICHITA - A search is ongoing for the suspect in this morning's fatal shooting of George Tiller, the Wichita doctor who became a national lightning rod in the debate over abortion.
Tiller, 67, was shot just after 10 a.m. in the lobby of Reformation Lutheran Church at 7601 E. 13th, where he was a member of the congregation. Witnesses, a city official and a police source confirmed Tiller was the victim.
Police said they are looking for white male who was driving a 1990s powder blue Ford Taurus with Kansas license plate 225 BAB. The vehicle is registered to an owner in Merriam, which is in the Kansas City area.

This article, from The Wichita Eagle, also went on to include this statement from Operation Rescue:

"We are shocked at this morning's disturbing news that Mr. Tiller was gunned down," anti-abortion group Operation Rescue said in a statement on its Web site. "Operation Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning. We pray for Mr. Tiller's family that they will find comfort and healing that can only be found in Jesus Christ."

My facebook feed is blowing up with pro-life leaders posting this story and condemning the murder of Dr. Tiller like Operation Rescue has done, because murdering someone in cold blood like this is not pro-life.

WICHITA, KAN - Nearly four hours after abortion doctor George Tiller was gunned down and killed in his Lutheran Church, Johnson County police pulled over a car matching the description of the suspect vehicle. The Associated Press reports police have the suspect in custody.

You must have thought the first, satirical story was pretty shocking and not possibly true, right? In the United States, we don’t send partial-birth abortionists to prison for killing thousands of unborn babies, some of them after they’ve survived abortions and been delivered. We don’t get the chance to see them leave prison for three years of probation and little chance of going back to their careers. Every dinner table and cocktail party in the United States has not produced a torrent of invective aimed at the cruelty of an abortionist, someone who kills scores of unborn babies for cash, the way they have for the purveyors of dog fighting.

No, we save such unanimous scorn for people who harm handfuls of dogs, rightfully yet hypocritically. After all, dogs are accorded physical protection under the law, at least far more so than unborn human babies with heartbeats and brainwaves. The second, real news story is obvious justice to anyone.

Don’t get me wrong. I love animals, and I think we should protect them from abuse, including the dog fighting in which Vick was involved. My family has dogs, which I adore. In fact, if you read through my last recent post, you will find that I have stopped my car to save frogs. Pro-choice on animal abuse I am not.

However, I value human life over animal life, especially that of the most innocent and defenseless members of our society. So, do I think it makes sense that on one hand, a person will lose their career, go to prison, and face widespread disgrace for killing a few dogs while on the other hand, abortionists like Dr. Tiller the Killer of Kansas go free? No, I don't.

Actually, he doesn’t just go free. He is celebrated and honored by feminist (and) pro-abortion organizations like the Feminist Majority Foundation, who haled him as a hero at the National Education Association, just down the street from the White House. I was there. He showed off pictures of the babies he has killed in their third trimester. They were fully developed little people, with abnormalities like an extra arm or autism. So he killed them and showed it off at the NEA headquarters in our nation's capitol.

What would Americans think if Michael Vick had continued scotch free after decades of dog fighting involvement and then showed off pictures of dogs he had killed? What if he did this at the NEA, explaining that the dogs needed to die because, otherwise, they would have needed extra medical attention? Of course you would be outraged! I can only hope your outrage for this would be matched, and then surpassed, with the outrage you should have over the status of abortionists in this country.

The hypocritical national furry over the crime of dog fighting is a tad overblown when Dr. Tiller is honored in Washington, D.C., for late-term infant terminations.

Blog Pox Allows Me To Talk About My Frog!

Suzanna has passed along some type of blogger virus to me, called “Eleven Facts About Me.” It seems less threatening than the pig flu virus and definitely more entertaining. I accept the affliction, which requires me to post eight random facts about myself here.

1) My only pet (aside from the many my family has) is a White’s Tree Frog named Herman. I got him while in college, and he could live at least another decade, making him a rather important household fixture. I adore frogs and toads, and I loved catching them when I was kid. The toads that live next to my mother’s pond once had hundreds, maybe thousands, of babies; they were the tiniest little things you’d ever see, all over the back yard. I wouldn’t let anyone walk anywhere near them for fear they would step on some of the pea-sized little guys. I have stopped my car to move frogs away from the road. Point is, I love the amphibious critters, which is why I think this story from last week is worth sharing:

A tiny frog that was sliced apart by a lawnmower has survived after extensive surgery in Australia.

Vet Stephen Cutter who admitted to having a 'soft spot for frogs,' saved the amphibian in a difficult 30-minute operation at the Ark Animal Hospital in the Northern Territory.

The female tree frog, which has been named Victoria after the Victa brand of lawnmowers, had the skin on her back cut off by the blades and had to be anesthetised then stitched up in the op…
'She has a very good chance of living a long and healthy life.'

2) There was a time when I was encouraged by an honors art instructor to study fashion illustration after high school. I considered it briefly. In fact, I wanted to be a fashion editor too. I realized both were not my destiny though, opting instead to study politics and pursue conservative causes.

3) I think tomato sauce is really gross. I love tomatoes, just not in sauce. I’ll wash it off my pasta if I have to. It’s acceptable only on pizza, if it’s not chunky or excessive.

4) I have every Vogue magazine since 1998…every single one of them.

5) When I was in kindergarten, or maybe first grade, we were assigned to write down what we valued most and why and to draw a picture of it. I wrote, "Jesus, because He keeps me safe.” The teacher said they wouldn’t put it in the hallway with every one else’s assignments. They wanted a new one that didn’t include Jesus. I said no and told my mother. They put the Jesus one in the hall. This became a pattern for my life, though I didn’t need my mom to help for long. I became an activist at a very young age.

6) I admit that I recently developed into a complete Mac snob, and I’m not ashamed. Apple is superior.

7) I love snow, and I learned to snow ski when I was very little. My dad tied a rope around my waist and had me ski in front of him.

8) I went to public school through 1^st grade, was homeschooled in 2^nd grade, went to a private Christian school for 3^rd through 10^th grade, and chose to go back to the huge public school for senior high. I truly understand the differences between private and public school education.

I now pass along the blog pox to The Other McCain, because I’m sure he has some pretty random stuff to share. Let's see if he's willing to play. It seems most others have already been infected. Besides, I'm new. I don't know many bloggers well enough to sneeze on them like this.

A Predictable Outcome

Quin Hillyer summarized Obama's agenda at The American Spectator today:

If somebody were deliberately trying to undermine the very fabric of these United States, he would first vow not just to change its policies but to completely "change America," and then would do just about everything Barack Obama already has begun to do as president...

In short, to undermine the United States, the president would, as fast as possible, create a massively debt-ridden, tax-ridden, regulation-ridden government whose prosecutors play political favorites but whose stances on the world stage are marked by weakness, self-criticism, and solicitousness towards one's enemies.

Surely this president has other motives. But even if his intentions are good, we all know the substance of the pavement on the road to perdition.

The article details this with each of the policies set in place by the administration in this short time. Before you dismiss this theory and evidence as partisan paranoia, remember that this is the man who doesn't put his right hand over his heart during the national anthem. His wife revealed she had not been proud of this country in her adult life until her husband was a front runner for the Presidency. And their long time Pastor, friend, and mentor was a man infamous for yelling "God damn America!" at the pulpit with no apologies. The President cannot even muster a good memento of American history for Gordon Brown, opting instead for a set of DVD's as a diplomatic gift. I wouldn't even want that.

These certainly are not ways I would ever choose to show my love of and appreciation for my country. No wonder his policies are falling in line with this record of patriotism, or lack thereof.

Planned Parenthood Celebrates Mother's Day...By Destroying Motherhood

Planned Parenthood naturally feels that the best way to celebrate Mother's Day each year is to take donations in the name of mothers and use the proceeds to pit other mothers against their own unborn children, stripping them of motherhood while killing their babies. They also work hard to tear down the rightful relationship between mothers and their children by spreading their rhetoric about "choice" and the ensuing, politically correct fear of the subject throughout society and among families.

Last year they used mother - daughter combo Blythe Danner and Gwyneth Paltrow as their appealers, and this year they are using controversial author Judy Blume. I received a second version of the same fundraiser, featuring Cynthia Nixon (of Sex and the City), in my own inbox this morning.

Jill Stanek had a post on the topic this week and provided the picture below, highlighting a rather ironic statement that appears in the fundraising scheme each year. Click here for a closer look.

The letter reads:

"There is no organization that I know of that supports motherhood and all that it means more than Planned Parenthood."

I don't think I need to explain the irony of the country's largest abortion provider claiming to be a bastion of motherhood. A more accurate statement is that there is no organization documented that does more to end motherhood and all that it means than Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood ends motherhood hundreds of thousands of times a year at an increasing rate (PP Annual Report 2007-2008, p.9).

Speaking of "the guts to give you the answers to questions you couldn't quite figure out how to ask" Blume speaks of, and in order to illustrate all that motherhood means at its core to me, I'll share a story about my own mother and what she said to me years ago about the kind of services Planned Parenthood exists to provide to women.

We were talking (or maybe I was just venting) about some abortion debate, and the subject of the big "exceptions" came up. We got to the ultimate life of the mother exception, and I went on about how abortion has never been illegal in the U.S. in order to save the life of a mother, nor does anyone I know of advocate a ban on abortions in such rare and extreme cases when the mother will likely or inevitably die otherwise. My mom and I think that one is between a patient and doctor, genuinely in order to save lives.

Despite this, I said that I wouldn't even personally lean towards one in that scenario, unless it was an ectopic pregnancy and the child was going to shortly die. And then my mother defined for me the most basic motherly instinct, the kind that lends itself to reports of mothers lifting cars to save trapped children or giving their lives to save their children in danger. She told me that if a doctor had ever told her that she could either have an abortion or risk her own life, and there was a chance the baby would have survived, she would have told him that he better not harm one hair on our heads; she also said she would have physically defended us against any doctor wishing to abort us to save her life. She's a firecracker like that.

But the truth is, I never would have assumed my mother felt otherwise, nor would I have a shred of doubt that she really meant what she said. My mother and father are pro-life to the core, and my sisters and I grew up knowing without a doubt that they would do anything to protect us and save our lives if such a situation presented itself, born or unborn.

But how does a child grow up with such secure knowledge of his parents' protectiveness? I'm sure there are many ways parents can instill this security in their kids, but I'm also sure that such means don't include raising their children to think that abortion would ever be an acceptable choice between them and their own children. And to take that stance, parents must be able to explain why. To teach them that it's not a choice for oneself but that it should be for others does nothing but confuse kids and reveal to them one's own disbelief in the reasons for being "personally against it." We're talking about living humans, or we're not. We're talking about ending lives, or we're not.

How does a child believe his parents would do anything to save his life if he knows they would have considered aborting him or his siblings? And how does a child know they wouldn't have considered doing so if his parents don't believe he was a living child in the womb, already deserving of their love and protection?

I can't help but think that such confusion and family insecurity is having a profound effect on the mentality of young people and society as a whole. But if we raised everyone in the United States with the outlook on life, motherhood, and family values that my parents did, the abortion profits for Planned Parenthood would quickly disappear. They know that.

So Planned Parenthood works to tear down this relationship between mothers and their children, not just by killing the children by the thousands; they spread their rhetoric about "choice" and paralyzing political correctness about the subject throughout society, targeting families. They actually fundraise annually through Mother's Day under the guise that they support motherhood more than anyone else.

This mother's day, I'm celebrating having a mother who doesn't support Planned Parenthood and would never accept abortion as a choice. And I plan to pass this along to my future children, teaching them that they are not just winners of my birth lottery, no matter how they may be conceived. From the moment of conception, they will have all been my children, who I will love and protect with all that I have, including my life. They can also thank their grandmother and great-grandmother for that someday, each and every Mother's Day.

One of my brilliant husband's birthday gifts to me this year was belated, due to a high volume of orders for the fabulous item. It finally came yesterday! Check it out.

Eat your hearts out, pro-self defense ladies...and take note, men in love with them.

This case is not just adorable, in pink faux gator; it's a tool for true female empowerment, not the fake, self-defeating kind forced on college students year after year.

Which reminds me of a few awesome news stories from the past year or so about women taking control of their safety through the 2nd amendment. I'm digging them back up and listing here, because they are well worth the reminder. Women do need a trusty (read: typically not our upper body strength against a man's) means to protect themselves at times, and for that, a gun can be a girl's best friend.

Christianity for Dummies

Robert Stacy McCain has a post on today's Destroy Carrie Prejean tactic. I'm not linking directly to the pictures, but there's almost no use avoiding links to them. Not only can the most basic net users access them in .000002 seconds; the entire country is destined to be barraged by them one way or another no later than 8:00pm tonight, if it even takes that long.

I think the pro-gay marriage gestapo is over-estimating the effect these pictures will have on Prejean's reputation among conservatives. Take their line of attack featured on the insufferably low-brow site peddling the pictures:

Exclusive: Self-proclaimed bible thumper Miss California, Carrie Prejean, should start pointing the finger at herself for her own indiscretions. TheDirty.com has received exclusive images of the homophobic debutante that would clearly strip her of her Miss California crown. So much for being a good role model for the state of California Carrie. Looks like your Dirty photo shoot makes you a sinner too. I decided.

Thanks, Dirty, for explaining to a Christian that she too is a sinner.

These people obviously don't know the fundamentals of Christianity very well, at least not as well as they know how to fish for nude pictures to hurt people's reputations. Let's fill them in on some Christianity 101.

Christians recognize that all people are born with a sin nature and therefore need to repent and be saved by the blood of Christ. Salvation is open to all mankind. Everyone sins. Everyone needs saved. If one doesn't believe that, then he is of a belief that defies any need for salvation for all, the very cornerstone of the faith Prejean and I both share.

Take Prejean's statement:

"Recently, photos taken of me as a teenager have been released surreptitiously to a tabloid Web site that openly mocks me for my Christian faith. I am not perfect, and I will never claim to be.”

She never claimed to be a non-sinner. Prejean made some decisions in her teen years I'm sure she's not proud of, just like the rest of us. It's not so far fetched that a model, with Prejean's looks, once modeled some underwear like this. If everyone looked like her, this particular mistake would probably be much more popular among the various infractions typically committed by young people. That's the truth, not an excuse.

If making a mistake in your life exempts you from taking a stance against other actions you disagree with for the rest of your life, then every person on earth would have to remain completely silent on every ethical or moral issue forever. Is that what they want?

So, Dirty.com, before you go calling people Bible thumpers and trying to play the part of one yourself mockingly, you best go read some of that book that's being thumped. Otherwise you'll never understand it, and you will continue to show your ignorance to people who do with statements like the one above.
