Also since it’s cold and rainy and my heat is on for the first time this fall… a look back at this year’s flowers that I haven’t yet posted on the feed.

Garden is still going strong despite light frost & I’m hoping it keeps going a lil longer.

I have a new obsession with striped/variegated foliage - started by peppermint zinnias. Also the deep red/black sunflowers rivaled the black tulips in dramatic bloom. My love for wildflowers & the meadow project continues but found myself cutting less of those this year, leaving more for the birds, bees, and other pollinators.

My happy place 🤗 the season is winding down. Trees are dropping their leaves, & I’m already planning what to grow and do differently next year (growing all my melons on trellises bc we lost a few to squirrels & racoons) Also directing my attention toward houseplants neglected over the summer that will keep my green thumb satisfied during the cold months. It’s nice to look back at pics and remind myself that I’ve come a long way from my window box of basil in the city that my upstairs neighbor used as an ashtray 🥴

Almost 4 tons of rock later… ✨

Can’t believe a few years ago I was struggling to grow basil on my windowsill (my upstairs neighbor would intentionally flick ashes into them). Start where you are, take steps, trust the journey and please if you have space plant a tree or something to support wildlife.

I wish I thought to time lapse more of our projects like planting hundreds of native saplings, our meadow, and even the build and filling of these raised beds. I thankfully have documented some of that on stories and they’re saved in my highlights 👌🏽
