I am very honest with every one, I did not finish my college education. And I never thought there would come a time that I can earn money, a decent amount of money. I know I can earn money through buy and sell or through direct selling. There was a time that I joined a direct selling company and earned a bit. What I did not know then was I can actually turn a hobby into something that is profitable.

I love reading books and composing thoughts, though I used to think that I am not a good writer (OK I am still not half the writer I want to be), in the end, I had a career in writing. Three years after my first writing stint, I can proudly say that I am earning now more than some who actually finished their schooling.

You too can start your career and earn money even if you are not a college graduate. You just need to focus on a skill and master it. A friend of mine is having a career as baker and like me, she also did not finish her course. IT's not too late to be the boss of your own small company, have a career now!

Smart, glamorous and hardworking women speak up on breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is one of the most natural and joyous acts of human love. And yet many Filipina mothers today, misled by a number of mistaken notions, continue to depend chiefly on formula milk to nourish their infants.

Beauty, Brains & Breastfeeding Inc. (BBB), a silence-breaking organization advocating breastfeeding, says only 34 per cent of mothers in the Philippines practice exclusive feeding in the first six months of their babies. Based on UNICEF statistics, BBB also reveals that nearly half of all mothers in the country depend on artificial milk in varying degrees.

The group would like to correct several misconceptions which discourage mothers with infants and young children to breastfeed -- main hurdles to having all Filipino newborns properly breastfed:

exclusive breastfeeding in the formative first six months of an infant is NOT a hindrance to a mother’s professional or personal goals;

exclusive breastfeeding is a commitment to give one’s child with life-nourishing food and a good start in life; to think of breastfeeding as only for the poor should be dismissed immediately;

continued breastfeeding DOES NOT cause a woman’s breasts to deform, sag or make her look haggard and unattractive; and

the act of breastfeeding in public places is not an act shame and therefore should be encouraged.

No matter the prevailing conditions and norms in any society, nothing best embodies the miraculous ties between mother and child than the act of breastfeeding, BBB asserts.

To correct misconceptions, a trio of smart and beautiful women has decided to speak out and recount their empowering experiences with breastfeeding. Billboards featuring breastfeeding advocates Daphne Oseña-Paez, Patricia Bermudez-Hizon and Iza Abeja with their kids will be seen all over Metro Manila within the month to help bring their strong and timely messages to life.

According to BBB, a total of five billboards will be rolled down: three along MIA Road in Pasay City which will be launched on October 14; one in Philcoa, Quezon City; and one on the DILG Building in EDSA. A few more billboards will be up soon with sites currently in negotiation.

Daphne Oseña-Paez

Media personality and UNICEF Special Advocate for Children Daphne Oseña-Paez is a proud advocate of exclusive breastfeeding in the Philippines. Through her work with UNICEF and BBB, Daphne shows mothers in the country how she found time to breastfed exclusively is simply a matter of proper time-management and freely asking others for help whenever one needs it.

With her demanding schedule as a celebrity, entrepreneur, and child advocate, you might think Daphne relied on mixed-feeding or formula milk to nurse her three daughters. This, however, was hardly the case for her, breastfeeding her kids in a span of eight years.

“I have three daughters,” she says, “Sophia is 8, Lily is 5, and Stella just turned 2 -- all were breastfed for at least 12 months. That seems a long time to be giving up my body for the sake of my children. But it was not felt that way for me at all. Those eight years have been the most beautiful and powerful time of my life.”

Why should a mother opt for exclusive breastfeeding until her infant is six-months old when there are more convenient alternatives?

“I don’t think I gave myself a choice… it was just natural,” Daphne says. “I never once considered giving my newborns milk formula.”

As to breastfeeding in public, which may be somewhat a performance or a subversive act, Daphne says: “I nursed my babies everywhere—in malls, restaurants, airports, cars, parks. I do not own a fancy cover-up bib. I simply use a shawl in places where I feel require discretion. People are still not comfortable seeing mothers nurse in public. But it is comforting to get smiles and approving nods from other mothers (and fathers) who are going through the same thing.”

The success of Daphne’s commitment relied a lot on the support of her family, her entire household, her doctors, colleagues and friends. “Everyone knows I was a breastfeeding mama,” she says, “I made it known to my friends and colleagues -- so they can help me.”

Like most successful endeavors, exclusive breast-feeding required collaboration and teamwork. Daphne made sure her house staff knew how to properly store and thaw the milk she pumped for future feedings. She also made her colleagues aware, during hectic shoots that she needed to take periodic breaks to express milk.

“They even sometimes stand as my human dressing room, holding up my shawl to help cover me up,” she says. “As much as I’d like to take credit for successfully breastfeeding all my three kids, I must admit I could have not done it without the help of the people around me.”

It's the place where people meet to do most important things these days, and if you don't know the unwritten social code, you can get roasted real fast. For all that, though, it remains an important social media site for anyone wanting to share or view videos. Why does that matter? Because video is the # 1 teaching tool in the entire world, of course!

1. "#5 Music Theory: Reading sheet music" is just one of a very large number of helpful youtube user lypur has uploaded (# 1 is "How to play piano: the basics"). In spite of his hairdo, which granted looks like he plugged in the hair dryer a bit too long this morning, his explanations are clear, his theory is right on, and his comedy is even funny (well, sometimes).
2. "How to Read Guitar Tab Tabs Tablature for Beginners Lesson on Guitar Notation" is fuzzymonkey777's answer to all the piano sheet music readers out there who have conspired to keep guitarists from being able to read sheet music. His comments fluctuate between gratefulness and adoration from guitarists, probably because the vid is nice and graphical with simple, clear explanations.
3. "How To Read Sheet Music Basic Stuff (Part 1)" is a classic example of why Youtube is the single greatest internet invention ever. Here's a guy who looks like he never graduated 5th grade talking fluently and fluidly about music theory, and in a way that's much clearer than the expertvillage maestro. Don't miss the "bank robber" dude @ 1:43—definitely a classic feature of this vid.
4. "How to Read Sheet Music for Piano : Piano Lessons for Reading Sheet Music". What she does do is an excellent job of describing how to read sheet music, beginning with middle C.

"How to Read Sheet Music for Piano : Piano Chords & Chord Progression in Piano Sheet Music" is a video lesson that focuses a bit more on chords and their relationships to music than it does reading sheet music. But if you're having trouble understanding the Every Good Boy Does Fine approach, your brain might wrap around groups of notes easier than single ones.
7. "How to Read Sheet Music : Understanding Rhythmic Notation & Quarter Notes?" is another video that may be difficult for some people to understand, while for others it may be the only thing they understand. This particular teacher on ExpertVillage stresses learning the rhythmic value of notes first rather than the note name on the staff. An easy way to learn to read rhythmic sheet music first, then go back and add melody to the mix.

Unilab taps youth to promote health and wellness in communities

One of my first online experience is with a forum. And for some reason, it was not that fun for me.. maybe I lack involvement or as on the wrong side of it.. or maybe I am not just sociable back then. Then I discovered social earning online.. then Facebook and from there, my life, in terms of socialization changed.

I was a member of a very close group in Facebook. close in terms of our relationship to each other and close in terms of privacy.. yep that page is for members only.. as in SECRET! Then we moved to forum.. argh! although I know forum has a lot advantage, Facebook group is very accessible.. but yeah, life has to move on and I need to learn new things.

It took me a while before I got familiar with the forum and even the first Forum contest was not enough to make me stay there more.. OK, we're talking about $30 here.. just by reaching 500 posts.. by being a full member..

Then one day.. I had a vertigo attack..and I can't blog! So I stayed in the forum and it's a good thing a lot members are also online that day.. and before I knew it, I am already a full member! and $30 richer! woot!!!!

What Is Tax Extension

April is a busy month here in the country, specially for accountants and tax payers. It's tax season here. Actually, filing of tax starts earlier than April but most people just start filling and paying their tax few days before the deadline. Some countries offer tax extension when a tax payer cannot file their tax on time.

Filling of tax extension differs from each country. In some, the tax payer needs to give a valid reason why they cannot file tax on time, to what is valid or not to them, I have no idea. In some countries, one just need to fill up a tax extension form and submit it to the proper authorities and their extension will be grant.

In the US, when a tax payer files for a tax extension, they were given an automatic extension of 6 months.
