Doesn't it make you feel a tad better to know that I'm not an over achiever? I suffer from talent blocks (as if that isn't evident in many of my projects) ? To know, try as I may, though I love my children more than myself, I'm not going to get a parenting award? And with all that said, aren't you glad that you're NOT the only middle aged woman who is addicted to "The Walking Dead"?

Yes I've been gone, I put off blogging for a while for many reasons...but the one I that is pertinent today is the show that I watch through my fingers, that really is a fantastic story, has rich characters, and alot of flesh eating (not my favorite part but hey it comes with the zombie territory and when you compare it to the world today-it is metaphorically scary true). I can hear you now...

1. Zombies are gross

2. Those people look like they smell REALLY bad

3. Besides all that dirt those men are really hot...

4. How does their hair look like that when they are covered in dirt and Zombie guts?

Okay so I'm going to show you the card I made for a friend before I get all talky. It's not the most amazing card I've made, but it sure was one of the most fun to make. Let me begin by telling you she was resistant to my suggestion to watch the Walking Dead...she eventually came around and ended the 1st season with a raised eyebrow and a comment "Daryl is very redneck" I told her just wait, he'll grow on you in a very uncomfortable teenage girl screaming way. As you might have guessed, she's now a Daryl fan and is a honorary TWD fanatic. I was so happy to finally have a another friend to talk to about it with. Now that the 3rd season has ended I will not suffer til October, alone.

I found the Crossbow Svg on the net, altered it slightly to cut easier, and found
the pic of Daryl and used photoscape to add a little something extra...

I used my tent card, ooey gooey svg, and paper scraps to make this...I used MTE stamps for the tag Mustache Mania and Mini Thoughts.

Here are my replies

1. Zombies are gross- Yes True that...run

2. Those people look like they smell REALLY bad- Yes I'm sure they do they film in Georgia in the summer, so on top of the smell there are ticks as well...just be glad we aren't subjected to smell-O-vision.

3. Besides all that dirt those men are really hot...Yes dear God they are! That is all.

4. How does their hair look like that when they are covered in dirt and Zombie guts?..Hollywood's influence, sadly, is everywhere, even in Georgia...but let's hope and pray that TWD NEVER starts filming in So Cal because that will ruin it for me. I don't want to see Sycamore Canyon in one more tv show! (Keep other states in movies-Please! Any other So Cal natives annoyed by that?)

It's a monster to have no inclination to craft isn't it? Although I want to craft it seems the universe is against that idea...instead it is encouraging me to do endless loads of laundry, to mop the floor, to pick up EVERYTHING that ends up on the ground. Apparently, the universe and I are having an argument about what REALLY makes me happy. Apparently the universe thinks that it will win an argument with me...I have news for it...you may be winning the battle but I will win the war.

I did this card last year not a big thang when you consider that last year was actually just a couple of weeks ago hehehe. I used Trendy Twine in Krazy for Kraft, My Thoughts Exactly Under the Sea sentiment stamps, some recollections paper in that great monstrous green and kraft brown (which I CANNOT find- Thanks Michaels for a lesson in frustration) and my monster svgs in the ooey gooey collection.

A portion of the cards & tags I made for my sister...

I was happily crafting last weekend, making Christmas Cards for my sister. She is generously taking my little family to Disneyland for Christmas, so this was the least I could do for her.

I used Holly Jolly Phrases & Holly Jolly Tags, spellbinders, Lettering Delights simple shapes- Christmas with a shadow layer for the tags, I used Trendy Twine in Blueberry, Peppermint Stick, Berry, Holiday Holly Berry. For the base card I used Kraft Brown from Michaels (which they are not selling at the moment-grrrrrr). The photo cards are my own design Window Cards on SvgsbyBee.com I also used the HollyMe Svg that I'm offering for free. It is in SVG and DXF formats so you may use it in Make the Cut, Sure Cuts Alot, and Silhouette Studio.

Your Holly Me file will be in a compressed folder- you will need to extract it before you can use it in your programs...

Do you have friends? I mean real friends? Really good friends? I hope you do, because we should all have those people that make us lighten up, make us feel not so awkward, help us find the funny in the maddening. I have friends like these, and guess where I met them, at my twins school. Volunteering. Yes... I found some hilarious, kind hearted and twisted women I can call my very own. My wish for you is I wish you friendship for Christmas, because you deserve it.

As any good friend should do, I got my girls chocolate and of course had to wrap it up in a nice little package. I have to say hearing them make "big" over the boxes made be uber happy,

you know that feeling :)

I used SvgCuts tied surprise boxes, MTE Holly Jolly tags, MTE Holly Jolly Phrases (both of which are on sale for $9.00 each!). I wanted to keep the box itself simple with kraft brown and add the bling. I did find some great little embellishments from K&Co, Trendy Twine in Holly Berry (enabler alert-It's on sale for $7.95!) & Sky in my great hoarding stash.

I used the Recollections paper that has a light sheen-It stamps
super easy and adds the lovely sparkle.

I sure enjoyed making these, they were just what I needed to calm my addled Christmas frenzied brain. Therapy in it's simplest form.

I know I know...I KNOW! It's not even Thanksgiving yet! I understand your frustration with the 'Christmas Creep' - for me it's completely logical to begin early, since the last week all I want to be doing is looking at Christmas lights, decorating my tree, baking cookies, planning my Christmas dinner....HEY that gives me an idea! Wouldn't it be grand if there was a Christmas Planner I could make JUST for ME..

Voila enter the the Christmas Planner from MTE.

I actually made this one for a sweet friend of mine who I thought would love a homemade gift. It's one of the first journal type gifts I've done. This one was all print and cut, and SVGs. I even used my good paper DCWV...I know I'm such a giver- sit down.

K&Co paper tape- I like paper tape because it doesn't need
to be all perfect to please my eye.

To embellish this little beauty I used MTC to print and cut on my Cameo which AFTER figuring out to change it to landscape, it all came together lovely. I used rubber cement to bind the pad together, of course none of the craft stores here carries the paper pad compound. (I did find a recipe on line however it does state to wait for the mixture to cool to room temperature, which is wise but the stuff hardened so I couldn't use it. On hindsight I will try it while it's still warm, and it should work just fine).

For the front cover I used lettering delights for the kitchen utensils, quirky trees, Classy Charms Alpha, and Felt Owl right. For the stamps I used The Holly Jolly Phrases.

I've always hated this saying, because of the visual it
gave me BUT it sure looks good on the bag ;)

So you've seen these adorable little flour bags right? You've seen the MTE Halloween stamps right?

It's like a sugar addicts dream isn't it?! Well first make sure you have some of these little bags from the Cotton Bag Company then make sure you have your MTE Halloween Stamps (I used the Fright Night Phrases, Ghostly Greetings, Fright Night Friends) Aren't they adorable together?! I think my favorite is the BITE ME...this just speaks to the side of me that is so freaking busy and stressed that I wake up with clenched teeth and fists.

My little pile of bags, truly it took me an hour to stamp them
all-I swear! It was Fun and they took the ink very well.

I used Tsukineko and Colorbox ink (hint the Cranberry looks perfect and bloody) and colored in VERY carefully (on a few, then I realized I had 40 of these little suckers to do, the rest are as they are), and I just want you to know that if you color while watching the Walking Dead...well...you just shouldn't color while you're watching the Walking Dead.

I didn't add twine just to show you the size - 3x5.

But I must add twine because it's AWESOME in
Black Licorice,Grape Licorice, Lime Licorice, Orange Licorice

Yes yes YES...it's ME, I'm a Spaz, why you ask? well I'll tell you....

this is one of my favorite cards, and one of the most annoying to make, NOT because the file was bad, BUT because of the most obvious component- me. I annoy the heck out of myself, and if I could I'd kick my own butt, I'd hurt my foot doing so. You see I am rash and move way to quick instead of making sure all my bases are covered. For example, I will just start stamping on the surface instead of first making sure that I'm not stamping on a uneven surface, not stamping on a pen, a pop dot, or even runt candy-don't ask. But really I'm just a klutz. ANYWAY besides all my hidden mistakes, I loved the effects with this card. I used Sugar Gems slider cards, Pretty adorable huh?

It took me along time to gather the courage to do this but it was perfect for this sweet little giant boy who had a BMX party. My son is now "totally into" BMX. Oh yet another investment...gaaaa

Just punches, spellbinders, paper and MTE Stamps a truly
therapeutic card

A while ago, WELL a LONG while ago I started following this amazing womans blog, because of the simply amazing things she did with paper, I'm sure you know her! Her name is Thienly and her blog is Mod Paperie, and we've become friends, in fact my family and her family are friends because we got to meet one magical rainy day at California Adventure at the Disneyland Resorts. We hit it off right away, our kids got along famously. Her husband and her parents are some of the coolest and kindest people I've ever met. They all hold a special place in my and my families heart.

Anyhoo so this year we got to meet up again at Disneyland, and it was just like old times. And her MOM...CHI is also very creative but she uses fabric, she made me a purse the FIRST time I ever met her, then this year she made me a apron to wear while I'm crafting! It was perfect! How did she know that I'm a total slob and always misplacing things? AND it matches my craft room and all of you will understand why this is SO important.

It's just perfect isn't it?

I had to thank her for it, so I made her a card I used only border punches, spellbinders, my MTE stamps and paper. It really is very nice to just start matching papers then glue it up instead of fussing with svgs...not that I could ever give those up but it's nice to make a pretty thing, simply.

Have you ever "smashed"? No! Not last nights binging but a journal of sorts of WHATEVER you want...you like to take pictures of gum on sidewalks, sandles with shorts and black socks, overly tan tanning booth victims, well smash it then! It's a personal scrapping/journal thing. But since I'm not so imaginative this particular project was my kids on Halloween, ya I know. (I have to say that I JUST developed the roll of film from my old camera...pretty sad huh? Yes if I had a digital fancy schmancy camera I wouldn't have anything to complain about now would I?) My kids were easy last year, store bought costumes are AWESOME! I've made many and last year was a year off. Now doesn't my son look gruesome? Have you heard my fave stamps are back in stock? Yep the sentiments are back and I would hurry if I were you!

For this card I used the Mothers Day Subway Art set, MTE Mini Thoughts and MME "fine & dandy" paper pad, spellbinders and a little dollar stamp from Michaels...(I always think I look like a transient pushing and shoving the contents of the dollar bins around as I mumble to myself, but in my bargain induced zombie state I do find some cuties).

I think the hardest thing about double sided paper is
deciding WHICH side you want to use!

I am so excited that last years Halloween stamps are back from MTE in stock, as well as this years! Which are adorable as well. I used the heck out of last years and this year is shaping up to be NO different.

I have a friend, and with that friend came a wonderful family network with her. They are wonderful and some of my favorite people on the planet...but most importantly they have a great Halloween party every year, last year we had to take a hiatus for the Doodle man but he's doing so much better after his cancer treatments, the party is BACK on! I decided to make her invitations since this way she HAS to invite my family if I make the invitations. If not I'll crash the party- it's that fun

Fright Night Friends

I have to say this little ghost is my favorite, I like to place him in such a way as to make him look nervous about what's behind him, as most of us are when we're walking through a Haunted House, a dark hallway, plant nursery, the grocery store...you get the idea.

I assembled the various stamps from the Grillin' & Chillin then used a sharpie to draw the lines. But really the LONGEST/Hardest thing for me to do was decide which papers I wanted to use.

Now truly, this was an easy card to make, the only hitch was my giant man hands trying to glue the wire coil to the wiggle THANG. BUT here's a clue for you, do the coil nice and even (cough- ya right remember it's ME!) and it will lay flat on your circle so you won't pop a blood vessel from the stress of trying to hold it while the glue dries...extra hint Zip Dry dries quickly so you will be popping less blood vessels. I used Ms.Becki's technique on making the wiggle mechanism.

Sunshine in a box or MTE Design Team post

Sunshine on my shoulder

Yesssss! Considering the heat and the amount of sunshine, I feel it's appropriate to share the sunshine with you all since I'm basking in it...we've had a very busy and hot week here in Southern California we went to California Adventure in 95 degree weather then off to Mammoth this week to enjoy some hiking, lakes, fishing, horseback riding with my Mom & Aunt.

But here is a little card that just tickles me, I really am not one to toot my own own horn but this one really made me smile when it all came together. You see my Grandma doesn't like fog (I don't mind it because it's the closest thing we have to an actual season here in So Cali) and we were steeped in fog the month of April. So I made her Sunshine in a box...wellll a tent card but definitely in a box per se. Here's another link to the freebee banners

I use the Mini Thoughts Stamp set from MTE on my little banner and my little sunshine with clouds and hung it from some pale yellow ribbon, and I used making memories paper, and MME paper...isn't it great? I cut all of this out with my Silhouette Cameo...it makes me SO happy:)

a Hawaii Hula Wobble Card always makes me happy so here's

a FREEBEE!

Aloha! I hope everyone is well and happy this fine Summer! I am enjoying the not overly oppressive heat here in Southern California, I'm not a heat loving person so as long as I can wear shorts and not feel like I'm in a sauna I'm happy.

I made this card for a little girl that belongs to one of my favorite family's to hang out with, it's just a plus because our kids get along famously. The family is a lovely mix of Caucasian and Hawaiian blood, hence the sweet hula girl which this little girl IS through and through.

I used Becki's wiggle wobble tutorial at the Happy Card Factory to make the wobble for my girl here, it gave me the effect that I was hoping for. The only change I did make was the adhesive, I knew this would get alot of 'play' so I knew I needed a hardy adhesive so I used Zip Dry Paper Glue which I managed to get ALL over me. (Did you know that the right adhesive can ruin your pretty manicure? I do now.)

I used Lettering Delights Mahalo Cut it Set, MTE Mini Thoughts, DCWV Playtime stack for the surfboard front, and Making Memories paper pack, Stickles and pop dots because I can ;). I used a banner that I've used previously and today it's yours for Free. It's available in SVG and DXF formats. To make it curved I used the conical warp tool in MTC to get that curved effect.

Here's the video of my hula girl in action...here's one suggestion though, make sure your card behind your wobble is larger than the svg in front...I had to make the back of the card a little heavier to withstand the weight of the svg.

Hellooooo Sleeping In!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my summer so far, how about you? We've been blessed with semi decent beach weather so other than summer school, we've been hanging out at in lovely Ventura. The kids have been boogie boarding, shoveling sand in ever orifice they have on their bodies, and having a grand time hanging out with their buddies.

With all this summer fun I haven't had time to craft too much, however with the new summer set from MTE I've managed to add some accents to already finished scrapbook pages that these stamps scream to adorn.

I initially tried to do emboss my stamp with the embossing powders I have but it kept attaching to the watermark sunshine so I pulled one of my fave products out, used a needle to trace over my Hello Summer stamp. I let it dry over night then spellbinded it.

Here's the great little set! It's only 2.95! Can you believe that?!

They went well with my scrapbook pages are from my favorite trip I've taken with my family to Kauai when my twins graduated from Kindergarten. I loved it, they loved it, my extended family loved it. One day I will go back, one day, sigh....

I also used my little set in my Smash book from my DC trip, I'm slowly adding my contents, Cute huh?

We celebrated a foggy July 4th at our local highschool firework show but we did some pre-show desserts. S'MORES, but with a little twist I had a taste for coconut. I toasted some (which if you've ever done this you now your house smells delicious), and used both the raw and the toasted on my S'more. It was heavenly..and I made extra's and threw them in the toaster oven for a couple of minutes for a little snack:) (For those out of towners from foreign lands a S'more is a roasted marshmallow over a square of milk chocolate, sandwiched between to graham crackers. If you do it right your chocolate melts, the marshmallow covers it = heaven)

Music of my heart- a card I made for my incredibly talented nephew..

I have a nephew, my very first one. I adored him from the moment he came into this world. He taught me so much about loving a little person more than yourself, how to enjoy making forts, how there really isn't TOO many times you can read the same book, being naked is better, a simple washcloth can become any animal in the bathtub, clowns are scary, the difference between a bald eagle and a chicken, Jim Carrey is very talented and last but certainly not the least- how quickly you need to move while you change a little boys diapers, you should never take alot of time without a duck and cover plan. Among all the other talents he is a musical savant. He can play more instruments than I can name, play any song by ear, he is wicked talented and one of my favorite people on this planet. Love you TT boy!

My crazy boy!

I used Lettering Delights Mahalo Nui Cut it SVG's,some standard shapes from the MTC library, spell binders, Trendy Twine in Chocolate Sprinkles, MTE "Big Thoughts", Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Autumn Nights ( I did this card BEFORE I learned that to stop the curl of the paper, just simply turn the paper over and spritz lightly with plain water-derrrrr), I found a pin on Pinterest that had a link for free digital music paper, and proceeded to make the heaviest card in the history of card making...

A Mustache Honey Do

I don't do many Father's Day cards, but I do love the father of my children very much, especially because he will go and do the chocolate run for me:) Or pie or ice cream.. AND he's never said "are you sure you should be eating that?" I think because he's got good sense... and wishes to remain alive. This is his father's day gift.

If I can do it so can the kids-I swear!

I used a 3 x 3 post it note pad...I measured my cardboard to be slightly wider then the note pad about 3 1/2 x 5, a recycled corn nuts box (little did I know how prophetic this box would be*). I scored it at the top for a quasi rectangle. 1 inch -1/2 inch- 1 inch- 1/2 inch. I folded my rectangle which enabled me to adhere the post it pad to the small area underneath. I punched holes in the top portion, then threaded Holly Green Trendy Twine through and knotted to hold in place. Now on to the really fun stuff- I used the MTE Pick a 'Stache and Mustache Mania words and letters to get my phrase. I thought about adding glitter but then it's really for my hubby, and I just can't see him saying "wow HONEY- it's so sparkly!" so I abstained.

I had a difficult time holding this little bugger in place, but
in actuality it lays nice and flat:)

*So some of you may know I was given a ticket to Washington DC from my sister, I came to the lame conclusion that it would be a good thing for me to take a red eye..which in fact, it was good for everyone else because they could sleep normally. I on the other hand, got to listen to a bimbo party girl 3 rows up partying with a boy she just met sitting next to her. They laughed,they took pictures and had a grand time as they drank til approximately 4:30 am. I finally put ear plugs in my ears but I could still hear. Then I smelled it...the tell tale sign of CORN NUTS being consumed...Corn Nuts in a metal shell at 30,000 feet. You see NOT only did this little group party while everyone else was trying to sleep, they ate corn nuts. For those people that are unaware of secondary corn nut air, it's something that you do to irritate a sibling when you're a teenager- eat corn nuts then breath on your sibling...it's cruel. Corn Nuts should only be consumed in a well ventilated area.

Thankfully, I was able to check into our hotel room (my sister knows how to do it right!) which had the MOST comfortable bed ever, and take a luxurious nap for 2 1/2 hours! It was amazing! Then I went on about my sight seeing till 9:30 pm! If you haven't been to DC I suggest you do it, I had the best time going from Museum to memorial, and was in my history heaven.

I know you're thinking I should be thinking Hello KITTY but I know it will surprise you but she doesn't fit my personality (hehehehe). I made this for my daughters little friend who actually who does have a sweet sunshiney personality and my daughter tells me she loves Hello Kitty. My son has been in love with her since kindergarten, of course now he won't freely admit it.

Before I go into my usual rant I'd like to let you know the Jellyfish under the sea challenge, the Tent card challenge at MTC, and a Very first in the history of MTE is going on at MTE right now!

Summer is coming, and I'm pretty snotty about it, 'Cue cat hissing'. Yes I love my children, yes I love to spend time with them, but I need the privacy glass when they start bickering, Serious privacy glass. Thinking of the future bickering makes me annoyed, I want to lash out at people that annoy me and I find myself making the faces that I am in my mind, you know a squinted scowl, a furrowed brow when an unfortunate person crosses my path.

There's this one idiot that lives in my neighborhood, she's up in everyone's business, she trolls the neighborhood looking for victims to spy, pick on and pontificate to. She acts as if she's nice but then you hear some of the amazingly distorted things she has conveyed to others, and I'm telling you my jaw drops when I hear of my super human fetes, like how I single handedly took the basketball net down. Not only did my uncoordinated and clumsy butt do this BUT I managed to do this without anyone in my cul de sac hearing or seeing, you see that invisibility cloak works! Oh and how I curse at children playing in the park, how I threw soda all over the court. So I feel compelled to tell you that when I see this woman I have very catty thoughts run amok in my head like throwing my soda at her or throwing my shoe at her after I've rolled over her several times with my dented and dirty mini van. Too bad I would never hurt a fly but boy it sure feels good to have that vision roll through. I know I know! It's not very Christian of me and I apologize for that but if I told you half of the crap this nutcase has pulled you would be asking for my keys and my shoe.

This was a very sad card to make...when you do paper crafts these are the saddest projects you'll do, but probably the most important, don't you agree?

I used the More Big Thoughts with some MME paper and some scraps from my stash. A cute little butterfly punch, and spellbinders. Lately I'm liking stamping on patterns. I used to ALWAYS scrap on solid light colors but now I'm breaking out:)

Aren't they great! My husband used to have a 'stache. I hated it but it sure is fun looking at pics of him with that giant broom in his nose:)

Please know that I did this card super late last night after the school carnival, it was a exhausting but FUN event that some amazing ladies worked hard at putting together! So I did my civic duty and thoroughly enjoyed myself and ate all the amazing baked goods these goddesses made...heaven.

Hello Muddah!

Happy Mother's Day

I'm still trying to make cards for the important people in my life, I wanted to do a few more but ran out of time. I did however get a little lifted when I saw the crowd of people at the card aisle of Target yesterday. I used to manage a Hallmark store SO long ago and I remember the men that would forget about this holiday and Valentine's day, the night before, they would come rushing in 10 minutes before closing time, frantic and plain desperate. It still makes me giggle at the difference between men and women in planning for holidays. Ahhh good times good times!

I made three cards so bear with me...

I used the Garden Shower's Collection from Lettering Delights &
my Loopy Layered Frame for the Captions with Sky Twine.

I used K&Co brad and just cut a strip of the MME pad quite contrary
I just cut it in a banner shape, and my spellbinders. No electronic cutter, just
scissors and the big shot.(If you look close you'll see that there's two layers to the banner- I screwed up and just placed another one on top!

I used my tent card, banner, clouds and insets(coming soon) &
lettering delights Balloon Craze enhanced with my I-rock tool

The Stamps I used are MTE, My Thoughts Exactly, the Big Thoughts and Mini Thoughts, I have used them non stop. You have the major events covered in each set.

When I make one card there is inevitably paper left over, if I have multiple cards to make I will use that paper that is left on the rest, do you do this? It tends to simplify things for me. Okay, so everyone knows I use so many different papers, but primarily for printed papers I use K& Company, My Minds Eye and Basic Grey....I use Recollections in solid colors mostly. These brands work marvelous with my electronic cutters. DCWV is a tough one because it's so uneven I have yet to be able to cut through that stuff, however the solid blue paper I used is the chalk paper and it cut great...I used a 4 setting on my Cameo for this paper, the rest was on 3. Lately the only ink I want to use is Tsukineko ink, I just love the colors and the texture is so silky. I added a tiny bit of Stickles with one of those picks that people use for their teeth...don't worry it never touched anyones mouth!
