"We are a family of four trying to pay rent and have enough food to eat.

My husband has been out of work for six months and I lost my job due to layoffs and was out of work for two months. During this time, we were both looking for work I got hired a couple of months ago and he's still looking. He has applied to close to 150 positions and gotten approximately 10 interviews in person, by phone or skype, but with no success.

My income alone is not enough to support us. Since summer, we have slowly been going into debt, using my line of credit and credit card to supplement my income. We're now at the point where our credit has run out and we are short of rent, money for groceries, gas money for me to get to work and any other incidentals that my kids may require. We're behind on bills as well. We've had to sell some of our belongings (some dear to us) to survive.

He has taken a paper route to supplement our income while he still applies for jobs in his field and goes to interviews. We keep thinking "this one will be the one" and then it falls through. We still feel like it will happen soon, but until then, we need help.

I have a very hard time asking for help, but I'm starting to feel desperate. We are doing everything we can right now just hanging in here. I believe in paying it forward and will be back here to be a giver once we're back on our feet.

Here's a heartbreaking story of needs. Please read it and try to help this couple. Good day, Thank you for taking some of your valued time in order to read my letter, it is deeply appreciated. Like so many people out there, me and my family has also fallen on hard times. What makes my situation different or direr than any of theirs you may ask? Honestly, I cannot answer you that. There will always be people whose situation and circumstances are far worse than mine. I still have a lot to be grateful for and believe me I truly am. All that i currently need is a little bit of financial assistance. Where do I begin? Let me try to give you a brief outline of my current situation, as I do not wish to waste any of your time. We were always able to pay our housing bond, utility bills, childminder and other expenses, until recently. My husband had a good job and was also studying part-time in order to finish his Law Degree. I was also in my first year studying for my Bachelor of Education Degree, when I discovered that I was expecting my third child. I continued with my studies until I went on maternity leave. I wanted to continue my studies the following year, but was unable to qualify for a student loan or a bursary as I did not finish my studies the year before. I did pass all my previous modules. Thus far, I have missed out on two more years, as I did not have the necessary funding to continue with my studies. My husband took out a bond on our home in the year that I enrolled at university. With that money he was able to cover all my study fees, pay for a childminder and extend our home. We both needed an extra space where we could study and do our work. Regretfully, things at my husband's workplace got so bad that I could not bear it to see him coming home looking so stressed out and sick. The new manager was giving him grief because he always covered and stood up for the people that he was supervising. I was then the one that advised my husband to resign from his work and to focus on his studies instead. I felt that the money we borrowed at the time would be able to cover our expenses for the year, and that by the following year he would have a new job and everything would be okay.

Needless to say, it did not work out like that and I blame myself for the predicament that we’re currently in. The money that he earns a s a Candidate Attorney is barely enough to pay our bond, never mind all the other monthly bills and our daily expenses. The bank has graciously halved our bond for the past few months in order to accommodate us, but can no longer do so. I am really at my wits end, as I can’t even help my husband to alleviate our financial burdens.

The jobs I was able to find could only cover my travelling expenses and was definitely not enough to pay for a childminder to take care of my children as well. Then I still had to worry about aftercare for my children that were attending school, as well as a carer for my bedridden father-in-law. So currently I am a homemaker, but I deeply desire to go back to university. I have been accepted at The University of the Western Cape to continue my studies in 2014, but I am worried about all the financial costs involved.

I can also only consider going back if I know that my children and father-in-law will be in safe, capable hands. It is my utmost desire that my children will be in very capable hands while I am attending classes during the day. I want to give my best in class, but not at the cost of my loved ones. Regretfully I started a bit later with my Higher Education, but I know that a person is never too old to further their studies and pursue their dreams. I believe that by obtaining my degree, I can build a better future for myself, my loved ones and my community as a whole.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would turn down this avenue in a bid for help, but I surely feel good just relating my story to someone.

I understand that you may receive many letters, like this one, requesting for financial support, and I would honestly understand if you are not able to assist me at this point in time.

"My sister Becky is a severe adult asthmatic and has struggles for 10+ years just to breathe. She has been told for years that her job was killing her slowly. But, as this was her only source of insurance she was unable to change jobs or quit. Her medical bills have been taking every spare dime she has, and no other company in their right mind would hire a person who cannot complete an interview without wheezing audibly. She has been averaging a hospitalization every 6 weeks for the past 2-3 years. Finally in March of this year her pulmonologist refused to allow her to go back to work and placed her on leave, she filed for her short term disability insurance and only received partial payment as this had already been mostly exhausted for previous hospitalizations. She has been without income of any kind since March of this year, and has moved in with our elderly Mother who is on a fixed income and unable to provide more than a roof over her head and food on the table. Her short term disability expired and she has applied for long term disability insurance but they are stalling and have been reviewing her records for 3 months and have yet to make a determination, they feel asthma is a kids disease and that she should be able to work, despite the volumes of information provided by multiple pulmonologists and frequency of her hospitalizations.

Becky is back in the hospital right now and received devastating news today. She is out of options as no medications work for her and her only option is Bronchial Thermoplasty. her insurance company has denied multiple requests for this procedure to be paid stating it is too "new". She would have to pay for the procedure herself. The pulmonoligist has stated he will waive his fees to perform the procedure but she will still be responsible for the hospital costs. The pulmonologist states her lungs are failing as we speak and this is her only option.

Is there any way I can get her some help? She is only 54 years old. She has had no life except hospitals and worry over medical bills for years and now she is told there is a possiblity of helping her but she can't have it done because her insurance company won't pay.

"Hi my name Is Mara Im 24 Polish girl and up to few months ago I believed that I had a good future ahed of me. I moved to Australia 2 years ago with my Fiance to start a new life. And thats when the things have changed rapidly. As soon as I was put on my Fiances visa he became very abusive and controlling knowing that I have no one to turn to for help he was able to get away with this. But after a year of constant abuse I finally got tired of this knowing that he will not change I finally got enough courage to leave him. “I am in need of a miracle. Last year my identity was stolen by one of 3 scam loan companies that took $5,000 the year before. Because of the scams and the identity theft my credit is terrible. I have ask Jesus for a financial miracle. I had applied for a $40,000 loan but got scam out a lot of fees. The company that told me I was approved have offices all over the world.I was already behind in all my bills from paying these fees. Within the last 2 months I have gotten 15 letters from various government agencies telling me that I owed fees and if I do not pay within 24 to 72 hours I will be arrested. The letters told that I had applied for a loan from a place that had money all over. They kept telling me I owe all these fees for taxes and fees that I did not pay. They kept telling I had to file different documents to show that I was not money laundering.

I am now over 4 months behind in all my bills. I need $10,000 to get current on my bills. I have been evicted once and my daughter twice because of these scams. I did not know that I was being scam by the government agencies. I paid out $10,000 on these scams. I am retired on disability retirement. I have lost one car and now they are ready to take the other one. I am a disable veteran who can not get service connect. I have not been able to pay my old bill for $460 to Va so now they are garnishing my check for 25% until bill is paid. I have not been able to get my medicine for 3 or 4 months. I have to go to Va for a lot of appointments. I have to take my sister to dialysis for 3 times a week . My daughter uses my car to go to work also since we lost hers. She do not get a lot of money. I do not have any more money to pay any bills. My creditors are calling family members and friends trying to get them to pay their bills.

My bills are on automatic debit so the bank is getting almost all my money. We are behind with the mortgage,utilities,water bill and garbage at least 2 months. I am behind in my car and car insurance by 4 months. We still have to pay my daughter's car off. The bank is selling it for a cheap price to everyone but us. They want us to pay $16,000 but hope to get at least $3,000 at the auction.

I do not have money to buy food,diapers and gas. I have taken the under pads that go on bed to protect the sheets and cut them down to make diapers. The Scam loan company has said they would transfer money in my account since May. They always come up with another fee or reason the money is not in my account. It is really terrible when you pay for a list of places that loan to people who credit score is bad and you get scam.

I keep praying that someone would trust me and give me a loan. I have tried to do the cyber begging but have not have any luck. I wish I could get the $40,000 to pay off most bills or $60,000 to pay off everything. Once I am current I can afford to pay $500 loan payment back each month if I got the $40,000 or $60,000 loan. I have tired to make money like empower network and pure leverage. I never made any money only paid out money. The people that was supposed to train me was in London. They wanted me to go all in which is $5,500 each month. I told them I only got a little over $1,500 a month so where did they think I was going to get the money from. Can you please add me to your prayer list. My blood pressure and daily migraine headaches are out of control because of stress. When I get too stress off. I turn to prayer and reading the bible and also start reading and studying various Christian books I have.

"This year has been a whirl wind for me and my fiance. first she lost a car due to her ex husband changing bankruptcy filing from a 13 to a 7 just before that bill was to be paid off without letting her know, then he and his new wife decided to try to take the custody of their 2 children away from her. He feels that his holy rolling self and his brand new wife that cannot have children deserve to have sole custody and brought many false accusations against her and myself. Here is the story Jim sent to us

"Hi my name is Jim. I am a 13 year veteran with an honorable discharge who has served during three conflicts. I recently got out of the Army in April 2013 I am on unemployment drawing $752.00 every two weeks. I do not receive any aid. My rent is $1195.00 a month. I have actively looked for work and have been unable to obtain a job paying more than minimum wage.

I have gotten behind on paying my rent due to paying for insurance that I desperately have to have because I have a wife with a medical condition. My unemployment barely pays my electric, water, vehicle payment, and insurance. I received a notice last week (Nov 8, 2013) stating that if my rent wasn't paid by November 15, 2013 the eviction process would be started. I have two daughters and I don't want to have to tell them that we are being put out in the street. I need help. I hate asking for help but I have no choice.

I have picked up Aluminum cans, tried getting odd jobs but still don't have enough to cover what I need. Any help would be much appreciated.

This is not something that I do all of the time and it is something that I hate to resort to but I have virtually exhausted all of my efforts in trying to seek help through veterans administration and other emergency agencies only to be told that I must be evicted or must have my electricity turned off before I can get any help. "I cry and pray everyday since my mother passed away due to M.S. about 8 ms.ago.. My son and I live inside of my van, and when I call agencies, it seems no one can help us.. I've even posted my van to sell which has a handicap lift in it. No such luck yet. I've been living off of crackers for 6 days now, I don't mind losing the weight, but honestly I'm hungry..I'm not even asking for a lot, I would use the money to put me n my son in the motel. I believe in God with everything I am , though lately I cry to my Lord asking him, am I not worthy to live in a home? Or to have money? N I mean that soo sincerely when I talk with God. I feel so alone like nobody cares.. And there's so many scams, and pwhen I do get my hopes up, it seems to be the same let down. Trust me, I'm trying everyday to find employment but it's hard since I'm disabled n still have to file with soc.sec. N you know that takes a long time. Please if anyone can help us please please do so, cause I've really tried n called everyone.. My son thinks it's because people don't like us, but you know how kids think.. This is such an urgent plea please,anyone?? I know ill be able to help you one day perhaps.. I'm even willing to send pictures or a number to show how serious n for real this is!! Please help! Desperate to Pay Doctor Bills

Here is a story of need, a heartbreaking story that will make you become a good Samaritan. Help this man pay his bill

" I am a 40 year old (will be in November) single white man, no children, no family of my own - just a few aunts and uncles scattered here and there. I have always tried to be a caregiver to my elderly aunts and uncles, I have stayed in my hometown because I know that If I left, they wouldn't have anybody to check up on them or get them things from town when they can't get out themselves. One of the aunts I try to take care of daily (2 sisters who live together) has been paranoid schizophrenic all her life, and I am the only family member who can and does help take care of her. They are the only reason I stay in this town. I have begun suffering problems of my own over the last few years - I have a chronic compression fracture in my lower back, and have been in active pain management because of it for the last 5 years.

I have just recently (in the last two years) begun to suffer from extremely high blood pressure and abnormally fast pulse rate. It is all I can do sometimes to get up and take care of myself each day - but I still try to take care of these two aunts every day as well. ( they are 76, and 68 years old). My problems have gotten me to the point where I can 't hold a job - I can't stay vertical enough hours of the day to go to work. I left my last job in May, because I just couldn't work 10 hour shifts anymore. I have tried at every available place I can here in my town - and every time I talk to Human resources, everything is just wonderfully peachy until they find out I have health problems. And the minute they find out I am in Pain Management it is a definite "Sorry - you wouldn't be a good fit here" situation. I have applied for disability but I was of course denied -because I can do "desk work" (i have been in the IT industry for all of my career - and that doesn't require any lifting. But the places won't hire me - even for non lifting jobs, because I am a liability that they are afraid they could get stuck with if I hurt myself while working. Basically I'm a risk they don't want to take. I don't know what else to do. I have consistently applied at EVERY job in my town - and they all say the same thing. But I can't afford to just pick up and leave my town, because my aunts wouldn't have anybody to take care of them.

So I am just stuck. And I now have about $2000 worth of Doctor Bills because of the testing I had to do with a cardiologist because of the High Blood Pressure and Tachycardia problems I have begun experiencing of the last two year. I don't know how long it will take me to appeal my disability - but I have to try to do that now, and of course, I don't qualify for any welfare assistance or anything like that because I'm a young white man in my prime. I should be able to just do anything - but I assure you I cannot. So as I continue to try to find a job every day-(the WIN Job center is getting tired of seeing me in there almost daily) and take care of my family - I have just used everything I spent the last 25 years of my life working for. I am hoping that something will become available by Christmas, if I can just hold in until then- but I'm not going to make it past the next couple of weeks if I don't get help from somewhere. I have always tried to be a compassionate and charitable person - and when I was working I regularly gave to charities. But now I am at the point to where I need someone to help me. I have gone past the point of being ashamed and embarrassed by my situation - I am almost at the point to where I'll have nothing left to lose. So that is why I am turing to the internet - the only place where I know more people than I do outside my front door, and asking humbly for help. I'm not ready to leave everything I have in my apartment and go start sleeping in a cardboard box in the alley - but that's where I'm headed if I can't find someone who cares enough to help me out. I'll take anything I can possibly get - but my main concern is the $2000 medical bill for my heart tests.

I am working almost 20 hours a day online as a "mechanical turk" on Amazon, doing "Human Intelligence Tasks" - like transcribing Audio and video for $10- $15 per job to make enough to keep the rent paid and the lights on. I only eat once a day, when I can afford to - but I can live a little without food as long as I have somewhere to stay and stay cool. I have always tried to be compassionate and giving, and I just hope that there is somebody out there who feels the same way, who can help me in this most difficult time. I don't qualify for public assistance because I don't have kids, and I'm just not the right type of person to be needy enough, I guess. I have worked every day of my life since I was 15 up until may of this year. And now that that I'm having health issues, it's like -"Oh, well, thank you for all you did, but we don't want to help you out anymore because you aren't important enough for us to waste our time on. We'll hire the new healthy young people to do your job and you can just go fade off into wherever, we don't care, and don't bother us anymore." I really hope that there is someone out there who feels like I am not a waste of space. Because if there isn't then I don't know what I'll do next.

I know that I am not begging for help for my child or anything (because I don't have children) but I don't think that I should be treated as worthless. So please, somebody, help me. If there is any God in this world who can hear my prayers, I hope that he will hear mine right now - because otherwise, there won't be any use to trying to keep on going every day.
