Happiness does not depend on abundance. It depends on something else. It depends on something deeper. The Bible says in Isaiah There is no peace to the wicked.

There will be no peace in your heart if you don't know God. You will be like a restless sea. If you look at the sea and see how restless it is, that like the heart of a person that doesn't know Christ. Be not deceived God

Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.(Romans 4:7) The word "Blessed" means happy! If you have your sins forgiven and your inequities have been covered by the blood of Christ, then there is happiness, there is joy, and there is peace. And God can forgive sin because of the cross. God send His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die on the cross and He put all of your sin on Him. Jesus was the sin bearer. He became the scapegoat. He took all the penalty for your sin.
