This is the part three of six making of (1993) “Jurassic Park” hosted by James Earl Jones with interviews with production designer Rick Carter, director Steven Spielberg, legendary visual effects master Stan Winston and special dinosaur effects Michael Lantieri.

“Jurassic Park” is a 1993 American science fiction adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton. It stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, Martin Ferrero, and Bob Peck. The film centers on the fictional Isla Nublar near Costa Rica in the Central American Pacific Coast, where a billionaire philanthropist and a small team of genetic scientists have created an amusement park of cloned dinosaurs.

Before Crichton’s book was even published, many studios had already begun bidding to acquire the picture rights. Spielberg, with the backing of Universal Studios, acquired the rights before publication in 1990, and Michael Crichton was hired for an additional $500,000.00 to adapt the novel for the screen. David Koepp wrote the final draft, which left out much of the novel’s exposition and violence, and made numerous changes to the characters. Filming locations were in both Hawaii and California.

“Jurassic Park” is regarded as a landmark in the use of computer-generated imagery, and received highly positive reviews from most critics. During its release, the film grossed over $900 million worldwide, becoming the most successful film released up to that time (surpassing E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and surpassed 4 years later byTitanic), and it is currently the 20th highest grossing feature film (taking inflation into account, it is the 18th-highest-grossing film in North America). It is the most financially successful film for Universal and Steven Spielberg. It won the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Visual Effects.

This is part two of five making of (1982) “Conan the Barbarian” with in-depth interviews from James Earl Jones, Aronld Schwarzenegger, Max von Sydow, Sandahl Bergman, Gerry Lopez, producer Buzz Feitshans and writer/director John Milius.

“Conan the Barbarian” is a 1982 fantasy film. It is based on the stories by author Robert E. Howard, a pulp fiction writer of the 1930s, about the adventures of the eponymous character in a fictional pre-historic world of dark magic and savagery. The film adaptation was written and directed by John Milius, and produced by Raffaella De Laurentiis and Buzz Feitshans. Basil Poledouris provided the music. The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, and tells the story of a young barbarian who seeks vengeance for the death of his parents. The target of his hatred is Thulsa Doom, the leader of a snake cult.

Ideas for a film about Conan were proposed as early as 1970. A concerted effort by Edward R. Pressman and Edward Summer to produce the film started in 1975. It took them two years to obtain the film rights, after which they recruited Schwarzenegger for the lead role and Oliver Stone to draft a script. Pressman lacked capital for the endeavor, and in 1979, after having his proposals for investments rejected by the major studios, he sold the project to Raffaella’s father, Dino. Milius was appointed as director and he rewrote Stone’s script. The final screenplay integrated scenes from Howard’s stories and from films such as Kwaidan and Seven Samurai.

Filming took place in Spain over five months, in the regions around Madrid and Almería. The sets, designed by Ron Cobb, were based on Dark Age cultures and Frank Frazetta’s paintings of Conan. Milius eschewed optical effects, preferring to realize his ideas with mechanical constructs and optical illusions. Schwarzenegger performed most of his own stunts and two types of swords, costing $10,000 each, were forged for his character. The editing process took over a year and several violent scenes were cut.

Conan grossed more than $68 million at box-offices around the world, though the revenue fell short of the level that would qualify the film as a blockbuster. Academics and critics interpreted the film as advancing the themes of fascism or individualism, with the fascist angle featured in most of the criticisms of the film. Critics also panned Schwarzenegger’s acting and the film’s violent scenes. Despite the criticisms, Conan was popular with young male audiences, and the film brought Schwarzenegger worldwide recognition.

This video is a PM MAGAZINE’s Halloween Special from 1982 the making of “Creepshow”. On-set interviews include Romero, King, Savini, Adrienne Barbeau, Hal Holbrook, E.G. Marshall and the movie’s bug wranglers!

“Creepshow” is a 1982 American horror anthology film directed by George A. Romero and written by Stephen King. The film’s ensemble cast included Ted Danson, Leslie Nielsen, Hal Holbrook, E.G. Marshall, Gaylen Ross, Adrienne Barbeau and Ed Harris.

“Creepshow” was considered a sleeper hit at the box office when released in November 1982, earning $21,028,755 domestically, and remains a popular film to this day among horror genre fans. The film was shot on location in Pittsburgh and the suburb areas. It consists of five short stories referred to as “Jolting Tales of Horror”: “Father’s Day”, “The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill”, “Something to Tide You Over”, “The Crate” and “They’re Creeping Up on You!”. Two of these stories, “The Crate” and “The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill” (originally titled “Weeds”), were adapted from previously published Stephen King’s short horror tales.

The segments are tied together with brief animated sequences. The film is bookended by scenes, featuring a young boy named Billy (played by Stephen King’s own son, Joe King), who is punished by his father for reading horror comics. The film is anhomage to the E.C. horror comic books of the 1950s such as Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror and The Haunt of Fear.

Five tales of terror are presented. The first deals with a demented old man returning from the grave to get the Father’s Day cake his murdering daughter never gave him. The second is about a not-too-bright farmer discovering a meteor that turns everything into plant-life. The third is about a vengeful husband burying his wife and her lover up to their necks on the beach. The fourth is about a creature that resides in a crate under the steps of a college. “Spies Like Us” is the title song to the 1985 Warner Bros. motion picture of the same name, starring Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd and Donna Dixon. It was written and performed by Paul McCartney, and was a top-ten hit in the United States in early 1986, reaching #7 on the singles chart, making it McCartney’s final top-10 hit in the U.S. to date. It also reached #13 in the UK.

Multiple releases were issued in the UK: a regular 7” single, a 7” shaped picture disc, a regular 12” single featuring extended mixes and the B-side “My Carnival” (a song by Wings from the Venus and Mars session) and a 12” picture disc.

The video for the song, directed by John Landis (who also directed the movie), was not aired by the BBC because Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase appeared in it playing instruments. British labour rules prohibit non-musicians from performing in videos, and Aykroyd and Chase did not actually play on the record. (Ironically, both actors were accomplished musicians: Aykroyd on harmonica and Chase on piano.) The video ends with McCartney, Chase and Aykroyd walking across Abbey Road, parodying the famous album cover.

“Spies Like Us” was released on CD in 1993, as part of the release of The Paul McCartney Collection, as a bonus track on the album Press to Play. The B-side, “My Carnival”, was released as a bonus track on Venus and Mars, and the 12” single was an exclusive to iTunes.

They are parachuted into Pakistan and eventually end up in Afghanistan, chased by the Russians, where they learn they are being used as decoys to draw out the Sovet defenses. Two real spies are sent in. Their mission is to Hijack a soviet Missile launcher, launch the Soviet missile and test the new US orbital defence laser. The missile is fired and while heading for an American City, the laser system misses it’s target. The contingency plan for this scenario, as set out by the Pentagon Nuts who planned it from deep within a secret underground bunker, is to let the 3rd World War happen anyway. Part three behind the scenes making of Guy Ritchie (2009) “Sherlock Holmes” included b-roll footages of Robert Downey Jr. fights Robert Maillet in the shipyard and in the factory, big bang explosion sequence with Rachel McAdams and also appearing are Jude Law, Eddie Marsan and director Guy Ritchie.

“Sherlock Holmes” is a 2009 action-mystery film based on the character of the same name created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The film was directed by Guy Ritchie and produced by Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and Dan Lin. The screenplay by Michael Robert Johnson, Anthony Peckham and Simon Kinberg was developed from a story by Lionel Wigram and Michael Robert Johnson. Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law portray Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson respectively. In the film, Holmes and his companion Watson, with aid from former adversary Irene Adler, investigate a series of murders connected to occult rituals. Mark Strong plays the villain Lord Blackwood, who has somehow returned after his execution with a plot to take over the world using an arsenal of dark arts and new technologies.

The movie was shot in a recreation of a 19th-century village outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, following Shyamalan’s penchant for staging his films near his hometown. The movie opened to reviews ranging from overall negative to mixed and was not as financially successful as some of Shyamalan’s earlier movies, although it did gross over three times its budget. Despite this, the film gave composer James Newton Howard his fourth Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score.
