So as the title indicates I’ve decided to bring the podcast to a close. This wasn’t an easy decision and one I have spent many, many months thinking about.

Essentially podcasting takes a lot of time, and I have less of it now then when I started. I’ve come to realise that my love of the show is being diminished by the workload on the podcast, and seriously the moment that this starts to feel like a job, then it’s time to get out. Plus the BBC do an amazing job of promoting the show online, something that most shows don’t do, something a podcast can normally fill a gap for; that gap just isn’t there.

Finally I want to discuss other shows, review other content, and as this podcast is tied to one show I can’t do that here. In the near future I plan to launch a new podcast which will give me that freedom, however I may occasionally air a BeingHumanCast bonus show; so keep subscribing…

This final episode wraps up reviewing the rest of S3 and the whole of S4. I’m joined again by the amazing Valerie who I’d like to thank for her support of the podcast over the years.

My final comments are to thank you the listeners, bizarrely enough this last episode was recorded exactly three years after the first episode aired. During this time there have been over 27,000 unique downloads of this podcast, which is amazing and all down to you that have supported us, so thank you….

Okay, I admit it’s been a while… However for your listening enjoyment here’s our review on the third episode of the third season, it was recorded a while ago, in fact before season four aired so don’t expect any great revelations

I’m joined again by my good friend Kari.

Episode three is all about Zombies, and if you’re a fan of Zombies I encourage you to check out Z*Con

Z*Con is about 14 year old Matt Moore, and his three friends, who attend a local comic convention to get interviews for their podcast but end up stuck in the middle of a Zombie Outbreak at the con. Using social media, and their wits, to report on what’s going on inside the four walls of the con while dodging all kinds of cosplay zombies.

Z*Con is the second film being produced by Big Damn Films. Much like their first film, Browncoats: Redemption, 100% of the total Net Proceeds from the film will be donated to a handful of charities.

Welcome back to Episode 33…

Yes after a longer than expected delay, and a few technical wobbles, I am pleased to be back with our review of the first episode of Season 3. I’ve already got the next two episodes recorded so hopefully we can get back to new content every two weeks…

As season three starts the consequences of the actions and decisions that our favourite characters made are starting to bite, Mitchell is having to deal with the aftermath of his dramatic falling off of the wagon, Nina and George are rebuilding their relationship and Annie is literally in hell…

I’ve a new guest this time, the awesome Kari, who as well as being a fan of Being Human is also one of the hosts of The Signal.

Hi everyone, sorry that our new episodes have been sporadic of late.

However while we are busy working on our review of the first episode of season 3, I wanted to share with you something I did recently for one of the other podcasts I work on, The Signal.

The Signal has a section called Broadwaves, where crew members get to review pretty much anything they are a fan of which is not related to Firefly and Serenity. So the weekend is here and that means that Season 3 is only a couple of days away for us folks in the UK.

So to get you in the mood the generous folks over at The Sun Buzz Magazine shared the following quotes from the cast, and guest star of the show Lacey Turner, previously of EastEnders fame, with us to share with you…

Annie [What can we expect for Annie this series] “Annie finds love. I must say I didn’t see it coming, but the rest of the cast saw it a mile off.”

[What was it like filming in Wales for the first time?] “There was a rumour the set was haunted. I still wonder if there were crew members who I saw that nobody else did.”

Okay at last we are back… Firstly sorry that we were gone so long, real world been keeping us all busy.

So to kick things off this is an episode all about you folks our listeners. In Episode 19 you first get to hear from Valerie at DragonCon, (where I didn’t recognise her at first in her Daisy outfit!). This is then followed by Lisa, Kinkyclawz and more from Valerie on why they love Being Human.

We’ve changed a few things around on the podcast so from now on we’ll be including WILBH’s in main episodes and use the mini episodes to focus on fanfic… Plus next main episode Suzi and I will be joined by our new crew member…

Note there are some references to the whole of S2 within this episode.

It’s been announced that Rob Kazinsky will join Aiden Turner in Peter Jackson’s new film ‘The Hobbit’. What’s interesting about this is that Rob used to have a role in Eastenders where he played Stacey Slater’s brother, Stacey being played by Lacey Turner, who will be appearing with Aiden in Season 3 of Being Human; small world huh!

Hi we’re back…. Although I warn you now, DragonCon is next week so that may well mess mine and Suzi’s schedule up so I can’t say yet if the next episode will be in two weeks time…

So here we are with the final episode of the first series of Being Human, three lots of apologies to begin with. Firstly sorry that we are late posting this… Secondly apologies for the poor audio quality in parts, we’ll hopefully have this fixed by next time, and thirdly most importantly; apologies to Carol. In BHC009 Carol commented on our question about what does Annie say to Owen. In the comment she reminded us that Annie refers to this in S1E6, I promised to look out for this, then completely forgot to mention it at all; woops! We’ll try harder next time…

It’s an awesome episode which takes you on a roller-coaster ride with Mitchell starting off on a real high having found himself in the world and finishing with him descending back into the world he’d left behind. Dotted with fantastic one liners and a story line that pulls no punches, this is one of the best episodes of the first season.

Being Human Series 2 Finale

Now as we have said before we really don’t want to post any spoilers on the second series before it has had chance to air in the US. However I could not let the end of Series 2 here in the UK pass without posting some comment. Frankly OMG is not enough, for those of you who haven’t seen it yet, it is worth the wait. Utterly fantastic, probably one of the best series finales that I have ever had the pleasure to watch. I for one cannot wait for Series 3, and more relevant to us here at the BeingHumanCast I can’t wait until Suzi and I work through to the end of Series 2 and get to discuss this one…

So for those of you who have seen what I have seen, hopefully you agree with my opinions, and for those who have it all to come; I envy you.

In the meanwhile while we wait for new episodes to air we’ll keep on posting new episodes of the podcast every two weeks, and if you want to share why you love Being Human, please contact us…

Okay so here it is Episode 3, our extended Christmas and New Year hiatus is over and behind the scenes we have been working hard to tighten up the shows format, firm up our schedule for 2010 and launch some new ideas.

Now this episode was supposed to have posted on the 29^th, that’s the bad, the good is that we are not going to slip back the overall schedule because of this. So this means that in a weeks time you will get another episode of the Being Human Cast, and this will be our first mini episode.

Being Human Series Three and Other News

So for those that don’t know Housebroken was cancelled as they couldn’t get the numbers up, but hopefully with the second series now about to air the fanbase will grow and support a dedicated con in the future.

Also have you seen this, BBC3 Press Release, seems to indicate that Series Three is already on the cards, although depending on your perspective you may view this release as a spoiler, you have been warned!

Being Human Live

Wow, Being Human Live was awesome. I nearly didn’t go as the weather has been terrible but I’m glad I risked it.

Can’t wait to watch it again on Sunday, remember UK folks, BBC3 21:30…

Now I would upload my photos but to be honest they are not great, my little camera phone did not do the event justice so instead I recommend you check out @bbcbeinghuman the BBC Being Human teams Twitter feed which contains some great images. Also checkout BBC THREE PRESENTS BEING HUMAN LIVE which contains some great video from the evening.

Unfortunately I didn’t see much of Lenora and Aidan but I did get to meet Russell and Sinead. Sinead is awesome, if you don’t follow @SineadKeenan on Twitter you must. She really took the time to talk and interact with the fans and I really want to thank her again for that, utter complete and total pleasure to meet her…

So what can I say about Episode One, well obviously not much as I don’t want to spoiler anyone, however as expected it’s a lot darker than Series One, but still has that ability to go from the depths of darkness to full on comedy sitcom and back again in a few minutes… I absolutely loved it. I really think it sets the tone for the series to come, and just like the episodes in Series One I cannot believe how much the pack into one episode. Arrrggg want to say more… Will do after Sunday

All I will say is that you won’t be disappointed…

Series 2 Screening, Launch, Ivan and Daisy

Firstly woohoo, I managed to get a ticket for the 7th January pre-screening in London and I can’t wait! Hope that I will get to meet some of you there.

Secondly after much confusion and dates being announced and then retracted the BBC have again announced the air date for Season 2, it will be on BBC3 on the 10th January from 9:30pm.

Plus if that was not enough if you’ve not seen the Ivan and Daisy promo, Ivan and Daisy you need to do so, it’s awesome. It really adds to the feeling that the BBC have raised their game for series 2, which given how great the first series is, is no small thing for them to have done.

You can really feel the excitement building now. Under month to go and I can’t wait…

The BBC’s press office have announced that series 2 will air on BBC3 on Sunday the 10th January… Can’t wait!!

Also good luck to any of you like me who are waiting to see if we got tickets for the screening on the 7th…

UPDATE

New press release today for Being Human Series 2 it seems now that the show is unplaced… So wait and see again, even more reason to hope for tickets to the 7th Jan airing…

Hi all, so what’s going on with the Being Human Cast.

Well last week Suzi and I recorded Episode Two. However sadly my dog died earlier this week which obviously threw my schedule in the air. I’m still sad and we all miss her, but I’m starting to get back on top of things.

So don’t worry it’s recorded and once I finish the edit it will be posted, hopefully by mid next week at the latest.

Hi all, okay I decided after some thinking and some feedback that episode one needs to be BHC001. So this has meant renaming all the files. I thought it best to do that now rather than after we publish episode 2.

Now I have no idea what this will do to iTunes, sorry if it messes any of you around.

So it’s bonfire night, I must admit that I don’t get too excited about Halloween but I really like bonfire night. I hope that if you are in the UK you are having / have had a great time.

Now if there is anyone who doesn’t know what bonfire night is, check this out:

Guy Fawkes

Essentially this is a very old English tradition, mainly consisting of a bonfire on which an effigy of Guy is burned normally accompanied by fireworks. It is also where the word guy, meaning a man, comes from in modern language.

Being Human – USA Style

Okay now I’ll be honest, I ignored this at first as I presumed it was a joke. However it does actually appear to be for real. As announced on the 29th October, Syfy picks up “Being Human” for U.S. remake

Now maybe this will be awesome, we should all be careful not to judge what we haven’t yet seen. Plus if it drives more global fans to view the original BBC show then all the better.

Obviously I have concerns as let’s face it other conversions of UK shows to the US have not always been huge successes!

My issue here is more about what’s the point of doing this. Firstly it’s not as if the BBC have stopped making the show, to some extent the BBC have only really just got started with it so there is plenty still to come. Secondly the demographics that watch shows like this are generally pretty tech savvy, they are the people that are fully aware of the differences between the UK and US versions of shows. The world has gotten smaller; Europe and the US are aligning far more than ever before when it comes to the things we like, (take the recent growth and popularity of European small vehicles in the US as example of this). So whereas in the past there were some solid cultural reasons for remaking shows, I really don’t think they apply anymore.

If SyFy have money to spend why don’t they create something new and original, in fact if they wouldn’t mind buying and wrapping up ‘The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ that would be appreciated, well by me anyway, oh and a few more seasons of Firefly would be good.

So as I said, until I see it I don’t mind them doing it, I’m not all outraged, just more bemused as to how anyone would think this a good idea…
