The purpose of the Program Officer role is to develop and manage a system which will effectively coordinate the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all SurfAid¢s programs. Key Result Areas

1. Monitoring

2. Reporting

Produce summaries of specific reports, in bahasa Indonesia, as required.

3. Program Management Methodology

Develop a handbook outlining SurfAid¢s program management methodology, to include program start up, program implementation, program monitoring and program reporting formats.
As required train other SurfAid staff in the use of the program management methodology and the appropriate reporting formats.

4. Knowledge Management

File and maintain program information in a logical systematic manner
Ensure program ¡comms¢ information is easily accessible, for input to
SurfAid publications (including press releases, website, other written materials)

5. Communication

Assist in compiling program material for SurfAid¢s publications
Where appropriate assist in the development of SurfAid¢s publications, using the program information and program systems developed Develop and produce a short, quarterly Program News summary.

6. Support

Provide support to Program Director in whatever format it is reasonably requested.
Establish and maintain a calendar which details the program movements of senior staff and their visits to the program locations.
Provide program-related support to other SurfAid staff.

Qualifications:

While an academic degree is important, it is more significant that the job-holder demonstrates an appropriate level of experience and intellectual capacity. Specific experience includes at least 2 years in a program/project coordination or management role. - - Experience in producing reports is essential and experience in the NGO sector would be an advantage.

Job Purpose

Assist in planning the design of water and sanitation infrastructures.

Work in accordance with the drawings and specification provided by the field/project engineer.

In February 2004, U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, sent a fund-raising letter with the "alarming news" that "right-wing politicians" had passed a law stopping doctors from stabbing half-born babies in the neck with scissors, suctioning out their brains and crushing their skulls.

Michelle called partial-birth abortion "a legitimate medical procedure," and wouldn't supporters please pay $150 to attend a luncheon for her husband, who would fight against "cynical ploy[s]" to stop it?

But that's not why Obama's opponent Alan Keyes said Jesus Christ wouldn't vote for him.

Obama recalled Keyes' statement in a recent USA Today opinion piece but omitted his reasoning.

As a nurse at an Illinois hospital in 1999, I discovered babies were being aborted alive and shelved to die in soiled utility rooms. I discovered infanticide.

Legislation was presented on the federal level and in various states called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. It stated all live-born babies were guaranteed the same constitutional right to equal protection, whether or not they were wanted.

BAIPA sailed through the U.S. Senate by unanimous vote. Even Sens. Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry agreed a mother's right to "choose" stopped at her baby's delivery.

The bill also passed overwhelmingly in the House. NARAL went neutral on it. Abortion enthusiasts publicly agreed that fighting BAIPA would appear extreme. President Bush signed BAIPA into law in 2002.

But in Illinois, the state version of BAIPA repeatedly failed, thanks in large part to then-state Sen. Barack Obama. It only passed in 2005, after Obama left.

I testified in 2001 and 2002 before a committee of which Obama was a member.

Obama articulately worried that legislation protecting live aborted babies might infringe on women's rights or abortionists' rights. Obama's clinical discourse, his lack of mercy, shocked me. I was naive back then. Obama voted against the measure, twice. It ultimately failed.

In 2003, as chairman of the next Senate committee to which BAIPA was sent, Obama stopped it from even getting a hearing, shelving it to die much like babies were still being shelved to die in Illinois hospitals and abortion clinics.

(As chair of that same committee, Obama once abruptly ended a hearing early, right before Scott and Janet Willis, the parents of six children killed as a result of Illinois' drivers licenses for bribes scandal, were to testify in favor of Choose Life license plate legislation. I was there for that one, too. The Willises had traveled three hours. Reporters filled the room. Obama stalled. He later killed the bill when no one was around.)

So, the reason Keyes said Jesus Christ wouldn't vote for Barack Obama was because of Obama's fanatical support of abortion to the point of condoning infanticide.

I have framed on my wall a Chicago Sun-Times cartoon published during the campaign. Obama is holding a sign with "LIVE BIRTH ABORTION" on it. God is reaching down from heaven to a baby in front of Obama, and the baby is reaching up to God. Obama is yelling at God, "You keep out of this!"

n his USA Today opinion piece, Obama admitted being "nagged" by the Jesus-wouldn't-vote-for-him statement, but only because he wished he'd given a different comeback.

Obama insinuated opposition to abortion is based only on religion, lecturing pro-lifers like me to "explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all."

I don't recall mentioning religion when I testified against live-birth abortion. I only recall describing a live aborted baby I held in a hospital soiled utility room until he died, and a live aborted baby who was accidentally thrown into the trash.

Neither do I recall religion being brought into the partial-birth abortion ban debate. I recall comparisons made to U.S. laws ensuring animals being killed are treated humanely. I recall testimony that late-term babies feel excruciating pain while being aborted.

Obama stated pro-life proposals must be "amenable to reason."

OK, Sen. Obama, let's reason. Explain why you support abortion for whatever rationale, at whatever gestation, by whatever means. Explain why you support infanticide, if banning it might interfere with abortion.

Then, since you brought it up, explain how, despite all that, you think Jesus should vote for you, either now or in the hereafter, particularly given His statement, "It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around the neck than to face the punishment in store for harming one of these little ones."

BackgroundSpanish Red Cross (SRC) Indonesian Delegation was established after the Tsunami in December 2005 in order to assist Indonesian Red Cross Society (PMI) in its operation for the reconstruction of the Aceh Province. Assuming the role of Participating National Society (PNS), SRC works under the coordination of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), supporting PMI to ensure quality services delivery. In all aspects of implementation, it provides capacity development services to PMI and implementing partners.

Community Based First Aid / CBFA Project
The main objectiveis to improve the health status of the population through awareness raising and education on health matters. It includes diagnosing, initial treatment at local level and (when needed) referral to qualified health institutions of 9 common diseases: diarrhoea, fever, acute respiratory infections, malaria, malnutrition, goitre, vitamin A deficiency, dengue fever and rabies.

The main activityis training and supervision of PMI Volunteer working as CBFA Monitor, and Village Health workers / Cadres working as CBFA Volunteer, who are responsible for education of their fellow villagers as well as for dealing with disease cases. This
project is supported by PMI, Spanish Red Cross and with external donor (Spanish Official Co-operation Agency, AECI).

PMI / SRC is looking for experienced person for the following positions according to the terms of reference below:

HEALTH Technical Support

Prepare the KAP survey and provide training for the Indonesian Red Cross (Palang Merah Indonesia) volunteers on how to conduct Knowledge Attitude and Practice (KAP) Survey;
Calculating on samples needed per village
Transfer the knowledge on SPSS database operation (how to input data and create baseline & monitoring data).
Making Baseline & Monitoring data report.
Ensure the activities about to implement by the communities according to the real needs of the surrounding community and meet with all requirements established by Spanish Red Crossand the AECID (donor). Make sure that all the activities have clear visibility on the program.

Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Reconstruction and Development (AIPRD) adalah program kemitraan antara pemerintah Indonesia dan Australia sebagairespon atas kejadian Tsunami di Aceh dan Nias pada tanggal 26 Desember2004. Khusus di Aceh, kemitraan ini mencakup tiga bidang atau program utama
yaitu pendidikan, kesehatan, dan kepemerintahan lokal.

Local Government and Infrastructure for Communities in Aceh (LOGICA) adalah bagian dari AIPRD yang bergerak di bidang peningkatan kapasitas pemerintah lokal dan masyarakat di Aceh yang dikelola oleh Hassal & Associate International sebagai Managing Contractor.

LOGICA membantu peningkatan kapasitas pemerintah lokal dan masyarakat Aceh melalui tiga bidang utama
(1) Perbaikan Pelayanan Kesehatan di Puskesmas,
(2) Perbaikan Pelayanan Publik, dan
(3) Pemberdayaan Pemerintahan Gampong.

Mengapa Masyarakat (Perlu) Menolak Kenaikan Harga BBM?

Penghapusan subsidi BBM adalah bagian dari agenda Konsensus Washington untuk
meliberalkan perekonomian Indonesia. Bersamaan dengan dilakukannya liberalisasi sektor
minyak dan gas sebagaimana terungkap dalam UU Minyak dan Gas No. 22/2001,
penghapusan subsidi BBM sesungguhnya adalah prakondisi bagi masuknya perusahaan-
perusahaan multinasional pertambangan minyak dan gas asing ke dalam bisnis eceran
minyak dan gas di Indonesia. Pendek kata, penghapusan subsidi BBM adalah bagian dari
proses sistematis untuk meminggirkan rakyat dan jalan lurus menuju neokolonialisme.

Pemberian subsidi BBM sama sekali tidak melenceng kepada golongan mampu dan orang
kaya. Sebaliknya, struktur perekonomian Indonesia lah sesungguhnya yang terlanjur
sangat timpang. Dalam struktur perekonomian yang sangat timpang, jangankan subsidi
BBM, subsidi pendidikan dan kesehatan, dan bahkan keberadaan pemerintah
sesungguhnya lebih banyak dinikmati oleh golongan mampu dan orang kaya daripada oleh
golongan tidak mampu dan rakyat miskin. Apakah kita juga perlu berpikir untuk
membubarkan pemerintah?

Subsidi BBM sama sekali tidak dapat dikambinghitamkan sebagai penyebab defisit APBN.
Sebagaimana terungkap pada berbagai edisi Nota Keuangan, volume subsidi BBM
terhadap Produk Domestik Bruto (PDB) terus mengalami penurunan dari tahun ke tahun,
yaitu dari 4,7% PDB pada 2001, menjadi 1,9% PDB (2002) dan 0,7% PDB (2003 dan
2004). Defisit APBN terutama disebabkan oleh sangat besarnya beban angsuran pokok
dan bunga utang yang dipikul oleh pemerintah. Jumlahnya mencapai Rp145 triliun atau
sekitar sepertiga volume APBN. Selain itu, sejalan dengan naiknya peringkat Indonesia
sebagai negara juara korupsi, defisit APBN juga dipicu oleh sangat besarnya volume
pembocoran dan pemborosan APBN setiap tahunnya.

Kenaikan harga minyak bumi di pasar internasional sama sekali tidak dapat dijadikan
sebagai alasan untuk menghapuskan subsidi BBM. Sebab, akibat kenaikan harga minyak
bumi di pasar internasional, pemerintah sesungguhnya menikmati rejeki nomplok yang
sangat besar jumlahnya. Sebagaimana tampak pada perbandingan ekpor dan impor migas
Indonesia tiga tahun terakhir: US$12,0 milyar dan US$6,0 milyar (2002), US$15,2 milyar
dan US$7,8 milyar (2003), US$19,6 milyar dan US$11,5 milyar (2004), hasil ekspor migas
Indonesia ternyata senantiasa lebih besar dari pengeluaran impor migas setiap tahunnya.

Penghapusan subsidi BBM dapat dipastikan akan memicu kenaikkan harga kebutuhan
pokok dan biaya hidup rakyat. Di tengah-tengah jumlah penduduk miskin yang masih
meliputi 60 persen penduduk, dan penganggur yang meliputi 36 persen angkatan kerja, hal
itu dapat dipastikan akan semakin memperberat beban hidup rakyat. Sementara itu,
sebagaimana tampak pada struktur APBN 2005 yang bersifat kontraktif, dan susunan tim
ekuin Kabinet Indonesia Bersatu yang dipenuhi oleh para ekonom neoliberal pemuja IMF,
sama sekali tidak tampak tanda-tanda bahwa pemerintah memang memiliki kesungguhan
dalam mengurangi kemiskinan dan pengangguran.

Hati-hati Perlakukan HP Anda

Terkadang, kita tanpa sadar memperlakukan HP (handphone) yang kita miliki dengan hati-hati. Tiga kasus berikut ini merupakan kebiasaan buruk yang tak disadari oleh pengguna HP. Kebiasaan-kebiasaan yang justru merugikan HP sendiri;

1) Jangan charge HP anda semalaman dan jangan menaruh dekat anda ketika HP dicharge. Jangan pernah menjawab panggilan masuk ke HP saat sedang HP dicharge! Beberapa hari yang lalu, seorang laki-laki sedang mencharge HP di rumahnya. Di saat yang bersamaan, ada telepon masuk dan dia menjawabnya saat HP tersebut masih tersambung ke kontak listrik.

Setelah beberapa detik, arus listrik masuk ke HP tanpa kendali dan pria muda itu terlempar ke lantai dengan kerasnya. Orangtuanya bergegas datang ke kamarnya dan menemukan dirinya pingsan, dengan detak jantung yang lemah dan jari terbakar. Dia dilarikan kerumah sakit terdekat, tapi jiwanya sudah tak tertolong lagi ketika sampai dirumah sakit.

2) Jika menerima panggilan telepon dari seseorang dengan nomor yang tidak dikenal atau terdaftar dalam phonebook Anda, dengan mengemukakan alasan bahwa ia berkata (pria/wanita) berasal dari divisi engineering/teknisi perusahaan salah satu vendor/operator cellphone yang ingin memeriksa sambungan telepon atau sinyal atau dengan alasan apapun. Selanjutnya ia meminta Anda untuk menekan tombol #90 atau atau nomor apapun (bisa juga dengan kode huruf), secepatnya matikan/putuskan sambungan telepon tersebut tanpa menekan tombol yang mereka minta.

Karena saat ini ada modus penipuan yang menggunakan peralatan khusus, dimana jika Anda menekan tombol Z atau maka penipu tersebut dapat mengakses SIM Card telepon Anda dan mereka dapat menggunakan line telepon Anda dengan dan atas biaya Anda.

3) Jika anda menerima telepon dan layar cellphone anda menampilkan display seperti ini: (LAN). Disarankan untuk tidak menerima sambungan telepon tersebut. Langsung saja matikan HP Anda dengan menekan tombol power (on/off) HP Anda.

Karena jika Anda menerima sambungan telepon tersebut maka cellphone anda akan terkena virus. Virus ini akan menghapus seluruh IMEI dan Informasi IMSI dari cellphone dan SIM Card Anda, dimana selanjutnya anda akan terputus hubungan sama sekali dari vendor/operator manapun (dimana anda harus mengganti cellphone dan SIM card anda dengan yang baru).

Informasi ini telah dikonfirmasi dengan perusahaan HP Motorola and Nokia. Saat ini terdapat lebih dari 3 juta penyebarelepon genggam/cellphone yang terkena virus ini. Anda pun dapat membaca berita ataupun informasi mengenai hal ini di situs web CNN.

HP memang adalah penemuan modern yang sangat berguna. Tapi, kita sebagai pengguna harus berhati-hati. Karena HP bisa menjadi penyebab kematian, penipuan dan penyebaran virus.

How to Make a Blog?

I've been getting numerous hits from various search engines about the question "How to make a blog". Well; since I haven't answered it generally in the past, I will make a feeble attempt here:

First of all - WHY to start blogging:

Because you have something to say
Because you want to stay in touch with new and old friends
A whole lot of other reasons
Next: So you've got something to say - now how do you get it online?

If you're starting from scratch and do not want to install either software, cgi scripts or any other techical things (you do not even have to know what those things are), try visiting any of the below sites, which will allow you to set up a blog either for free or at a very low cost:

TypePad - a brand new service that charges a (small) fee but gives you a lot of nice features. From what I hear it can be recommended!
Blogger - the original; provides you with free tools and a free website of your own (which they'll run advertising on, but you could always move on later (I did))
LiveJournal - less blogging, more online journals, free all the same...

If you already own a website and you'd like to funk it up with a blog, but without installing anything, Blogger (mentioned above) can be set up to upload blog-files to your website. Very handy.

All of these tools, and some of the below as well, allow you to instantly become a web-publisher simply by using your normal web-browser; no software needed. If you're looking for a tool for your desktop, try Radio.

If you own a website and you're into fiddling with your own HTML templates and not afraid of installing a bit of scripts:

Movable Type is the granddaddy of script-based blog software. It's the most widely used by top bloggers and very flexible (more about this later). Download it for free, but remember to donate to its creators if you like it (you will!)
Some people use Blosxom and are happy
Some people use other tools - there are loads

4 Most Profitable Keywords inside AdSense system

"Expensive keyword" (high CPC) isn't equal to "profitable keyword" (high earnings) due to the low volume of traffic expensive (niche) keywords produce. The best way to find really profitable keywords is to rank keywords by cost/day (cost per click X clicks/day) rather than cost per click.

Almost all AdSense publishers are looking for the most expensive keywords. Let's have a look at the top 100 most expensive keywords. But first let's add 2 extra columns to the list: clicks/day and cost/day by Google AdWords estimation:

AdSense Alternatives

The last 12 months have seen a lot more competition for AdSense. I have noticed a slight drop off in bloggers raving about AdSense partly because they’re now raving about other ad systems.

In my chats with bloggers I’m seeing a number of other income streams mentioned again and again. Here’s a few:

1. Text Link Ads (aff) - the team at TLA have gradually built a loyal publisher list over the past few months but providing an ad system that may not be as flashy or spectacular as AdSense in some senses but which works. Interestingly - I’ve chatted with a number of smaller bloggers over the past few weeks who say that TLA actually is their biggest earner. This is because it is not reliant upon clicks or traffic at all and is a very passive income for a blog that over time grows as more advertisers buy links. I spoke to an owner of a lesser known blog network recently and he told me that his network is earning five figures a month with TLA.

2. Amazon Associates - some publishers laugh off Amazon as not being worth the effort because the payouts are so small (4-6% in post cases) but I’ve chatted with a few publishers this week who are doing very well from Amazon. The advantage of Amazon over many affiliate programs is that they are a trusted brand. If you pick the right products to promote you can actually do quite well from them. I chatted with a publisher this week who is promoting lawn mowers and power tools on Amazon. Sell a $2000 tractor/mower a few times a week and it certainly adds up.

3. Clicksor (aff) - as unpopular as they became with some publishers in their early days of launching they continue to be a big earner for some bloggers. They continue to be neck and neck with AdSense for me in the earnings they bring in. They continue to improve their products and expand what they offer in terms of channels and I know of a few product oriented bloggers who make more from them than anything else. Can’t say too much but expect their range of advertising methods to continue to increase in the coming months.

4. YPN - Yahoo’s contextual advertising system is still in beta (it has been a longer process than many expected) and is yet to fully compete with AdSense. I’ve given it a go (via b5’s account) and wasn’t too impressed with how it converted here at ProBlogger but do know of some bloggers who continue to find that it does well for them. I think it’s a blog by blog proposition but is definitely an ad network to consider if you can get into the beta test.

5. Direct Sales - another emerging trend among bloggers (and networks of them) is the increased focus upon direct deals that are being done between bloggers and sellers (and their representatives).Willing to do deals as the word gets out that blogs are online real estate that converts pretty well for them. It’s not always easy to negotiate these deals as a single blogger with a relatively small readership but we’re now seeing networks of bloggers banding together which makes it much easier to negotiate such deals.

6. Product Bloggers - while there are not a lot of examples of this yet I suspect that 2007 will be a year that quite a few bloggers will launch products in their niches. Bloggers are starting to switch onto the fact that after a year or two of blogging on a topic that they are sitting upon a goldmine of information and expertise that can be reused in other forums. While this past year saw a number of bloggers release books I know of quite a few who are working up to releasing online information products, membership sites and coaching services in their areas of expertise. Whether they succeed or not is yet to be seen but it’s a logical next step for many bloggers.

Of course there are many other AdSense Alternatives out there for publishers also (with more coming I’m told). The variety of systems open to publishers surely is having some impact upon AdSense and what people are earning with it.

Good Traffic is Targeted Traffic

Assuming your business is motorcycles, my first guess at your target demographic would be 16-25 year old males and 50+ year old wealthy retired couples. Breaking it down further, if you sell Suzuki crotch rockets, you can safely discard the wealthy retired group. Narrow the demographic as best you can to target potential customers. Paying for traffic that isn’t dense with people interested in what you’re selling is a waste of your advertising dollar.

Once the demographic is well defined, you can begin identifying and sorting out perspective advertisers. Determining whether a particular advertiser or marketing group is going to work for you can be rather difficult, unless you’ve personally used them before. This is where experience and networking with other webmasters comes in very handy. Talk to other webmasters who’ve advertised with the company, find out what they were advertising, and ask them how the campaign went and if they plan to advertise on that website again. I don’t generally use an advertiser unless I’ve heard very good things from other webmasters or they have a trial ad setup, where you can commit a small amount of money to testing out the traffic before you make a real investment and buy several weeks or months of advertising with them.

An important consideration when buying ad space on a specific website is the focus of that website. If you’re considering advertising on a service oriented website, make sure your product or service compliments that website’s service. For instance, if you sell shoes, advertising on hotmail.com is going to be very inefficient and expensive. You’ll be paying to advertise to a bunch of people, the mass majority of which aren’t looking to buy shoes. However, if you’re selling a spyware removal tool, email services could be a great place to advertise. Most internet users have spyware on their computers, and most are aware of and concerned about spyware.

Advertising on content based sites

When I need to advertise, my favorite place to go is still a content oriented site with a close relationship to my product or service. If I’m selling Gregory backpacks, I’ll look for advertising opportunities on websites related to backpacking and hiking, such as outdoors guides and wilderness survival websites.

Web traffic at some content based sites is not particularly targeted, while others have a specific topic, like a gardening tips website. Finding a website with a very specific interest may or may not be as important, depending on what product you’re selling, or what service you offer. T-shirts may sell well on lots of different content based sites, while the gardening weasel isn’t likely to do well on places not related to gardening.

An update schedule of content based websites you’re considering advertising on is rather important, depending on how you advertise. A website that updates every other day or weekly will have many visitors who come for the updates and leave. A website that updates sporadically will have more people who come just looking for something new. When there is nothing new they’re more likely to look for other related links, which is where good advertising kicks into high gear. Of the three major advertising types, I tend to believe in doing my homework and paying flat rates for given periods of time. This seems to work best, because it depends more on you to build an intriguing advertisement, and rewards you for doing so.

Buying ad space on a per click basis can be a better bet if you’re trying to build a brand name, because your ad might get 50,000 impressions before the 1,000 click-through you paid for happen.

Conversion rates are key

For most of us on the web though, our main goal is to sell the product or service. This is why I contest doing your research, finding the best websites, and purchasing ad space on a weekly or monthly basis is the best method of promotion in the long run. If you’re smart, you’ll monitor your traffic from different sources and determine the cost per sale to see which sources are providing the best conversion rates. In the case of buying click through traffic, the monitoring program should give you the traffic conversion rate.
