June 19, 1923 – March 12, 2010
Duncan served in the Canadian Navy during the Second World War. Following the War he started his career in funeral service in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In the early 50’s he joined the Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home and later the Simmons and McBride Funeral Home of Vancouver, B.C. During the early 70’s he moved over to Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Burnaby, B.C. until the mid 80’s at which time he was employed at Hamilton Mortuary, Vancouver, B.C. until the early 90’s. He than retired to Green Lake, B.C. until 2005 upon returned to the Vancouver area. Duncan is survived by family. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.bellburnaby.com

In the morning of March 15th 2010 Umberto (Bert) passed away at the age of 84 years, leaving behind his beloved wife Anna, sons: Gino, Paul (Renata), brother Saverio (Agnese), sister Esterina and many relatives and friends in Canada and Italy. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 2025 Napier St. Vancouver, with entombment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Irma on March 11, 2010 at the age of 82. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Francesco, parents Pasquale and Maria Funaro, her sister Nilde (Antonio) Maio, brother Tony Funaro, and sister-in-law Alba Colistro. Survived by and lovingly remembered by her four children; Charlie (Margaret), Elvidia (Dave) Anderson, Marlene (Brian) Cowie, Joe (Frances); grandchildren Sean, Aaron, Tara, Francesco, Simona, Alessia; brothers Raffaele (Anna) Funaro, Joe (Joan) Funaro; sisters in Italy, Anita (Mario) Occhiuzzi, Silvana (Pino) Pietramala; sisters-in-law Lilia Funaro, Nella Iachetta; brother-in-law Lello Colistro and many nieces, nephews and friends.  Since immigrating from Grimaldi, Italy to Canada in 1954, Irma’s welcoming home was always filled with family, friends and neighbours.  Together with her husband Francesco, she enjoyed spending time with those they loved, sharing stories over bountiful food and freshly brewed espresso. Irma was a gentle, loving soul who always accepted everyone with open arms.  She was happiest when surrounded by all her children and grandchildren who brought her continuous pride and never-ending joy.  She will always be remembered for her enduring kindness and her unconditional love.  A heart-felt thanks to the very caring staff in the ICU at Burnaby General Hospital. Prayers will be offered on Wednesday, March 17 ^at 8:30pm at Saint Helen’s Parish in Burnaby with Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday March 18 at 10:00am. Joy passed away peacefully on March 9th at the age of 85. She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Bill and her sister Eileen. Joy is survived by her loving family, daughter Carol (John), son Brian (Betsy); grandchildren Allison, Rebecca, Tristan and Colette and her first great-granddaughter, Stella along with many extended family members and friends. Joy was a beautiful and lively woman who courageously fought, lived and struggled with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Whether it be dancing on the kitchen with Bill (Granddad) or setting off boating on the “Impossible Dream”, Joy will always be remembered for her love of music, dance , the arts and children. Even as her world grew smaller, Joy never lost the ability to sing! Beloved wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, sister, and loyal friend, Charlene passed away peacefully on March 10, 2010 at the age of 62 years. She is survived by her loving family: husband, Orest, children Tony (Hazel), Jason, Jennifer, and Jonathan (Korryn), grandchildren Jacob, and Koehn, sisters Heather (Leo) and Carol (Tony), nieces and nephews and all her many loving family and friends. Mom had a special gift to touch so many hearts in a loving way. She will be sadly missed and never forgotten. He is predeceased by his brother Giovanni and sister Enza. He is survived by his loving wife Amina, his daughter Maria Katsionis (Peter) and his son Domenico (Catherine), his grandsons who were his pride and joy Vincenzo, Matthew, Romen, David and Marino, his brother Franco and his sisters Eva, Lydia and Ines, many nieces, nephews and friends. Pietro was affectionately known as “Uncle Pete” by everyone. He will always be remembered for his sharp wit, kindness and big heart. Born September 10, 1910 and passed away peacefully at St. Vincent Langara March 4, 2010 surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her husband Michele, several children including a cherished daughter Vanda and is survived by sister Maria Tinaburri of Bagnoli del Trigno, Italy. Rosa will be missed by her children, Isolina (Pietro), Rina (Giovanni), Ada (Lorenzo), Fernando (Sheila), Dino (Sharon) and Maria (Jack); grandchildren Linda (Russell), Anita (Dennis), Cristoforo (Domenica), Lori (Royce), Michelangelo (Lorena), Randy (Sandra) and Marina and many nieces and nephews.
