Halloween Haunted House (Dollhouse)

Hi, I haven't posted in forever, but I wanted to share this Halloween Haunted House that I built with my 8 year old son:

It is made from 4 cardboard boxes, taped together. You also cut off some of the box flaps to make the roof for the house. (Link to instructions below).

Then we added candy corn lights and taped them to the box where necessary.

Next we took out all of our Halloween decorations and went wild!

You could do a different theme for each section, but we just sort of made it up as we went along, funner that way!

Pirate hat on the top, why not?

They're everywhere ;)

After Halloween, we will leave the candy corn lights and fall decor in the house. Then for Christmas, we will switch it over to a Christmas theme. I have even ordered tree lights from Zulily and I am hoping to punch a hole in each wall to have a lit tree in each section of the house.

The instructions for building this house are easy as pie and you can find them at Planetpals.

This looks like a pretty good deal for a digital picture frame. It's a 7" Memorex Digital Photo Frame. The original price was $109.99 and it's been marked down to $39.95! The reviews are mixed, basically people wish the resolution was better...but if you want a digital frame without paying $89 or more, than this one should do the trick. I love the brown and blue design, too.

Yesterday, I got the Sports Illustrated for Kids $5 magazine subscription for my older son and a PS3 game for him, too. Still looking for a few more things for him. My younger son is all set for Christmas.

HomeGoods Before & After and a GIVEAWAY!!!

Finally, I am posting my Before & After Room Makeover from HomeGoods! It took a little while because I needed help hanging a mirror...which drove me crazy because I am so compulsive, when I want it done, I want it done :)

OK, the cute doggies have nothing to do with this, they aren't even mine, but because of the way Blogspot uses your first photo as the premier photo of your blog post, I wanted it to be a cute one and not one of my "Before" pics ;)

So...here we go...

I was asked by HomeGoods to redo a part of my house with $100. I had a few ideas of what I wanted to do and where...but knew I really wouldn't know until I got to the store. And when I got there and looked around, I decided that it was my Half Bath that I was going to makeover....then the fun began!

Here is my Half Bath before:

Oak framed mirror and gaudy candlesticks that seemed like a good idea at the time!

A nice enough picture, but not really a standout in the crowd:

And a towel that sort of matches the tile on the floor...and a monogrammed nightlight:

And now for the After!

I love this new mirror! It's a nice warm, walnut tone with a chunkier molding than the oak frame and the detail is nice, too. It was only $39.99!

I do have one pet peeve though...why do they put the price stickers right on the mirrors? Does anyone know how I can get this off without scratching the mirror? Thanks!

The new candle and candle holder are so much prettier than the ones I had before. And the soap dispenser by Nicole Miller is nicer on the eyes than the Dollar Tree bottle of soap that was there before ;) I love the bling on the bottle of smelly sticks, too. What are those things called? I dug into the package so fast, I didn't even bother to read what it was ;)

I just love the crackled glass. I went for a more neutral candle color, too, than the striped ones that were there. Pretty!

If you must clean a bathroom (and we must)...at least it can be prettier...

I love this wastebasket, it's like jewelry! (Spoken like a true decorating dork, lol).

A dark brown wicker Kleenex cover...

I actually bought this picture in June from HomeGoods ($19.99!) because I loved it, but wasn't sure where to hang it...well, now I know! It's perfect and matches the floor tiles, too.

I borrowed this lamp from another part of my home. I do like the look, so I will be on the lookout for the perfect lamp for this spot soon. Need a GFI outlet, too...and since my husband is an Electrician, it will probably take MONTHS for him to do it ;)

And finally, I purchased this beautiful towel (that I won't let anyone use! lol). The colors are perfect and the tassels are a pretty touch!

I love the new look, it's so much prettier and gives the room a nice updated look. Notice that I mixed and matched colors, too and they work just fine together. Silvers, Dark wood, browns, coppers, creams, gold. You don't have to stick to one color to make a room work, even a small room like this.

HomeGoods - What's Your Decorating Style?

Hi Friends!

Well, today is THE day! I get to go shopping at my local HomeGoods store and transform an area of my home. How exciting! Most people would probably know exactly what area that they want to makeover. Not me. I have no idea! Or should I say, I have TOO many ideas!

So, I guess I will wait til I get to HomeGoods and see what catches my eye the most and go from there. I haven't been to HomeGoods since June (I only shop there without kids!), so I am excited to get back in there and see what new items they have on display.

HomeGoods also has a neat quiz on their site to find out what your decorating style is. My style is Bohemian Casual:

Decorative Table Top Rattan Cone Trees at Pier 1

I remember when I posted pictures of my Grapevine Cone Trees, that many of you liked them.

I just saw small (tabletop, mantel top) sized ones in a Pier 1 catalog for $16.95 and $19.95. You can see them here.

They're perfect for holiday and seasonal decorating because you can add holiday lights to them or seasonal ornaments or even ribbon.

Are you decorating for Fall yet? I haven't even started! My older son is in football and my younger son just started Kindergarten, it just seems like September is whizzing by!
