Ugly Chair Makeover

I bought this chair for $4.99 at the DAV, I actually bought 2. It had good bones and swiveled well but had a dirty, ugly seat. A little paint and new fabric and now she is beautiful. What do you think?

Dog Coats

These are some coats I have made recently for my new puppy Sophia. I knitted the black one and added a crocheted edge. The other two are fleece. The little pink one was 4.97 at Walmart and we use these for everyday sweaters at home because she is always cold. I added the bling.

Boston Terriers are Coming

I am becoming a foster mom for the Boston Terrier Rescue of Eastern Tennessee. I can't wait for my first foster. He is coming this Wednesday, but I am unsure how my Bella will handle all of this. If you are a dog lover, these bags are sooo cute! They have many different breeds too.

Valentine's Day Flowers A Little Late

My husband ordered flowers for me for Valentine's Day, but they never arrived. Finally, I received them today and just wanted to share because they are so freakin' cute.

Waterlogue Review and Demonstration

I may be behind the times, I am not sure, but I just found this really cool app at the Apple App Store.
The app is called Waterlogue and you can find a demo here. Basically, any picture that you have on your phone, you can upload and it turns it into a watercolor photo. I know there are other apps that do this, but the quality of this one is amazing. This is a picture I took this summer when we went on our cruise to the northeast.

A Little Nail Art

I decided yesterday to forgo my knitting and play with some nail polish. After trying on many colors, I decided to try something different. I was inspired by all of the nail art that I find on Pinterest. Those nails always look perfect and I have to wonder if they do them themselves?!

Steve's Knitted Scarf

This is how I always have to knit. Bella on my lap and usually all tangled up on my yarn. This is a basic knit one purl one scarf, casting on an odd number if stitches gives you a reversible scarf that is very stretchy. I used a black yarn he'd together with blue yarn to match my husband's coat.

Just finished this hat and cowl/eternity scarf. I didn't have a pattern but winged it from a hat I already had purchased on Etsy. I love how it turned out.

Jamberry Nail Fun

I ordered some Jamberry nails from a friend. Put one on my ring finger and copied and painted the pattern on the French line. I think I need more practice with the Jamberry nails because I used one not quite wide enough and have a little wrinkle on the end. Applying clear over the top helped hide the wrinkle. Looking forward to trying the others.

Boston Harbor

I just got back from a cruise up north to Canada and Maine. We had a great time. I must say that Boston was my favorite place. We left from there. The food in the north end was delicious. Italian and seafood, a can't miss combination. Here are some pics from the trip. These are just iphone pictures. More to come later.

I wanted a denim vest to wear over sleeveless dresses for summer. I found one for 3$ at Goodwill. I removed the sleeves, applied fray check to them. Then I glued on some buttons and lace. I used Fabri-tac for that. Here she is all prettified.

Braided Hope

I haven't been doing much crafting this week, but I thought I would share some pictures of my favorite pup. She always makes me smile. Happy Friday Everyone!

Spoon Holder to Shabby Key Holder

I found this at the Re-Store for $3.00 and knew right away that it would make a great key holder for our entry way.

Before-old spoon holder

First I removed the two spoon racks that were screwed in from the back.

I filled the holes with wood filler.

Then I painted it off white with my homemade chalk paint recipe. (I use plaster of Paris). Sorry no picture. I used a graphic from the The Graphics Fairy and added my own text.
I used the modge podge method, painting modge podge on the printed side, placing this face down on the surface and letting it dry. Remember to reverse your image before you print if you are using any lettering. Then I wet it and carefully rubbed off the top layer of paper to reveal the graphic. I will say that the first time it did not work out so well, so I sanded it off and repeated.


Shabby Key Holder

I wanted it to look old and weathered, so I dry brushed some ASCP white on top of the off white paint I used and also dry brushed some black acrylic paint on the edges and around the base wherever I thought it needed it. I finished it up with some clear AS wax.

I used a cow in the middle because when we move home to Kansas, we are going to raise some cattle.

I painted some brass cup holders with oil rubbed bronze spray paint and added them to the bottom.

Here she is all shabby and old looking and I love it. What do you think?

I am so excited. I finally decided to try and improve my photos on the blog. My husband has a new DSLR camera and I am working on learning how to use it. Today, I bought a light box

and some photo lights on eBay.

They were really reasonable, each under 15.00 and with free shipping. Hopefully, this will improve my photos of jewelry, knitting and smaller projects. We shall see.
