{Wedding Trend} Signs of Love

I can’t get enough of this oh-so-cute trend! I love how couples are incorporating a unique, personal touch to their wedding by adding fun and instructive signs throughout! Whether you’re directing guests to the ceremony site or saving seats for the new Mr. & Mrs., wedding signs offer fabulous photo props and serve as instructive décor. Here are 5 ways to add signs to your nuptials!

Pink Wonderland Wedding Decor

I have a guilty pleasure secret. I like to watch the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

And this week I saw how RHOBH star Lisa Vanderpump threw a lavish wedding for her daughter Pandora, and groom Jason on the grounds of their home in Beverly Hills and I have to share it with you. But, even if you don’t watch the show, but happen to be a hopeless romantic, this is one wedding I guarantee you’ll adore.

Event planner, Kevin Lee (who inspired Martin Short’s character, Franck Egglehoffer in “Father of the Bride”) and his team from LA Premier, pull off a beautiful affair. He transforms the tennis courts into a luxury resort with chandeliers, columns of flowers and elegant table settings. It was a pink fairy wonderland! (Images Sources: 1, 2 and 4 , 3)

Notice how there's only a couple accents of pink, like a few flowers and the napkins. Everything else is actually white or silver. The lighting is the element tat creates this pink wonderland effect without overwhelming the decor... Genius! (Images Sources: left, right)

Combining various types of centerpieces, linen and chairs within the same color palette plus adding tables in different shapes is the way to go on wedding decor. This simple step brings texture and dimension to any type of reception... you may want to try it on your own nuptials!

Can't think of something to do for the cake table at your wedding? Here are some of my favorite ideas. (Image Source)

Blanket of Flowers. Whether it is at your reception or at your ceremony, dressing up your chairs will take your event decor to another level. You don't have to embellish every chair, if your budget is limited or you want a clean look, consider making an investment on some strategic chairs... basically a little glam goes a long way! Depending on your budget you can beautify the chairs along the aisle or the first and second row at the ceremony, every other chair, every other table or at the edge of long tables at the reception or at your sweetheart table. {Wedding Trends} : Save The Date Video

There's nothing like a sweet love story to start the week with happy and this darling Save-The-Date stop motion video is that and more. My heart started to flutter when I read that this video isn't only the cutest STD idea I've ever seen, but it was also FREE to make.

It is a fab stop motion film composed by thousands of photos streamed together to form a story. An absolute perfect choice for tech lovers, eco-friendly and budget-conscious couples alike. And, like my Photo Save the Dates roundup, this lovely video is sure to inspire you steal the idea for your own save-the-date or at least it will leave you smiling all week!

From the Bride-to-be, Mindy Underwwod... I’m the writer. Ben, my fiancé, is the creative artist. So when it came to making our Save the Date, we knew we wanted it to be unique. We tossed around a few ideas, but none that really stuck. The idea of a literal “save the date” just hit me one day at work …and I mean, who doesn’t love a good pun? I sent my fiancé an email with a story line about a boy who sees a girl, girl then loses dog, boy saves dog, boy marries girl. But in this case, dog meant date. It seemed impossible to convey that story in just a picture Save the Date, so that’s when this thing really took off and we thought about making a video.
That’s when my fiancé and his production company, Millennium Productions, came into play and turned my elementary idea into something everyone could relate to and love! My fiancé and I came up with the idea of doing stop motion to add a little character. It was important to us to get a lot of different locations shot in this video, locations that we love in our city.
We were fortunate enough to have our wedding videographer, Rick Dilly, also film our Save the Date, too! So when it came to producing and editing, Rick really took charge. We filmed throughout the city using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II to get the stop motion “feel” without spending days shooting thousands upon thousands of photos.
Some advice and DIY tips: If others are considering making a video, my advice would be to ask your wedding videographer. Chances are they will include it in your wedding package. If you don’t have a videographer, ask a couple of friends to help film. You can use your own camera or rent an EOS 5D for $30 a day. There are so many inexpensive programs available online to produce quality stop motion videos these days!
This is your day to show your family and friends who you really are as a couple. What better way than to make all of the little details that go into a wedding personable. We don’t want this to be a “store-bought” wedding. We’re only doing this once so we decided to make it as memorable as possible!

10 Creative Ways to Add Frames to Your Wedding

Who knew simple things like frames could create such a smashing impact on wedding decor? Picture frames - plain or ornate - can be fun, fabulous details for you to infuse into your big day. Especially since there are so many different ways incorporate them. They can have a purpose or they can be purely decorative but I am loving all these creative ways of framing up your day! 1. Seating Displays. I'm loving this modern and this vintage frame displays.

2. Feature your love. Showcase pics of you and your hubby, maybe even your e-session. At the end of the day, you guys are the reason to celebrate. (pic#1, photo#2, pic 3, pic no.4)

3. As props at the photo-booth. (pic#1, photo#2, pic 3, pic no.4)

4. Fill them up with flowers. (credits: first, second, third)

5. Use them as props for your portrait session. (credits: first, second, third)

6. Place Card Settings. (credits: first, second, third)

7. Photo Booth Wall. If you're aiming for a vintage look I can't think of a better options than picture #1 and 2. A POC (pop of color)on your wall paper will give your frame wall photo booth a modern approach, option no. 3 is a great example. If you want to DIY a photo booth wall like these, head to Ruffled to get the tutorial.

8. Backdrops. When there is a need of a focal point frames don't disappoint. Hang some frames to create an interesting background for your ceremony or your sweetheart table at the reception. (credits: first, second, third)

9. Table Decor. Hanging frames in top of your reception tables gives the venue and the decor a multidimensional effect (pic no.1). You may also place frames around the centerpieces to create more texture to the arrangement, just like picture number two.

10. Say Something. You need signs to communicate with your guest. From, welcoming messages and menus, to labels on your dessert bar, framed signs are very practical and make great wedding decorations. To make your signs a bit more trendy go with framed chalkboards.

The Secrets of Successful Mismatched Bridesmaids -Part 2

My article "Secrets of Successful Mismatched Bridesmaids" was and still is one of Belle readers favorite articles. So, I decided to give it a little make-over... same secrets, just a few new examples and inspirations! So here is an updated mini-guide on how to let your girls wear different dresses yet still look like your team… your bridal party. Don't fail to visit Part 1 of "Secrets of Successful Mismatched Bridesmaids" to get the comprehensive guide.

Option No. 1: Same color, different shades.

Neutrals, including grey, are so hot, especially when it comes to bridesmaid dresses. Neutrals give mismatched dresses a more unified look than any other color. Try them all in a short length like the first 3 images (source) to give you, the bride, a more distinctive look. Long nude dresses (pic no.5) are the best choice for a black-tie event. Or for a more edgy approach mix long and short dresses like image #6.
For those brides who want their bridesmaids to match their wedding colors, the seventh image gives you the perfect example on how to do it in a radiant color. Same length and same bouquet are the elements this bride used to bring together her bridal party look. Almost the same case apply to the last photo... this one... this one is just pure mismatched beauty.

Option No. 2: Different colors, same style.

Some brides would like to follow the mismatched bridesmaids trend, but they still would like to choose their bridesmaids’ dresses. Option number 2 is for them.

Picking the exact same dress in the different tones of your wedding color palette looks amazing and gives your bridal party a refreshing pop of color (photo no.1). If you only have a couple of colors in your wedding color palette, check out pic #2, I personally love this one. You may also choose two or three different styles and colors and let your bridesmaids determine what fits them best, like the last two brides. (photo #4, photo#5)

Option No. 3: Same color, different style.

Give your bridesmaids the exact color or even the fabric you would like them to wear and let them came up with their own dress. Or you can personally choose a few variations of the same dress (image 1, image 2, image 3, image 4, image 5, image 6).

Option No. 5: Free Style

If you feel like your girls have a great sense of style give them the freedom to wear what they have on their closets. You can always provide some guidance about your wedding theme or colors to keep the look together.

Hanging Flowers

Happy New Year! Let’s begin this year with fabulous wedding inspirations. Last year on my predictions on wedding trends for 2012, I mentioned how I believed that hanging decorations would be very trendy during this year. Today I want to show you how hanging your main décor element, flowers, can take your wedding décor from Blah to Ohh La La. When it comes to flowers, hanging doesn’t have to happen in the entire ceiling– it would be a little (more like very) costly. Instead you can hang some flowers from chandeliers, branches or trees to decorate your ceremony. Or try suspended your centerpieces – they should end above eye level when sitting, to avoid hindering conversation – to create a unique and romantic look at your reception. Here are some of my favorite hanging flower ideas. (image source)

FLORAL CHANDELIERS. I'm crazy about the lavish look of chandeliers with flowers. They look amazing as a focal point on a tented reception or ceremony. Plus adding flowers to your venue's chandeliers are a great way to give a twist to the typical look of the ballroom. (sources: first, second, third, pic 4, pic 5, photo #6, picture 7, image 8)

SUSPENDED CENTERPIECES. The perfect to bring that multidimensional look to your reception decor without disturbing the conversation on each table. (sources: pic 1, photo#2, picture 3, image 4, pic #5, photo 6)

WREATHS OF FLOWERS. Floral wreaths have been part of church ceremony decor for quite long. But what I'm really loving is the new idea of hanging them sideways to create this floral chandelier effect. (sources: first, second, third)

Favorite Weddings + Engagements from 2011

I had the pleasure to feature so many beautiful couples and fabulous photographers during 2011. Let’s take a look at some of my (and your!) favorite weddings, trash-the-dress and engagements sessions from this past year…

Let's start with one of the most popular from last year, Georgina + Arturo by Nacho Guerrero. This classic affair may just be the chicest wedding ever and you are about to catch a glimpse of it. From the brides look (I love her shoes) and the most stunning church decor ever all the way to the amazing reception, this fête was nothing but pure gorgeousness.

Brittney + Cody. It cannot get much cuter than this Nebraska wedding. This rustic-loft affair literally took my breath away with all its sweet, DIY, vintage details. It’s got the crafty chic inside me jumping for joy. Dawson Tayler Studios captured this adorable couple and their equally adorable big day. A pretty soiree filled with buckets of charm.

Georgina + Fernando. I adore the barefoot bliss of a beach wedding and this lovely affair in the beautiful Rivera Maya is no exception. I love the perfect, perfect moments captured gorgeously by Danny Cuevas. It is almost as if I was there, sitting by the oceanside watching the festivities unfold. This wedding brings seaside romance to a whole new level. And their Trash the Dress Session is stunning, as well.... both oh-so worth to see!

Talking about Trash-the-Dress, don't fail to stop by Samantha + Salo. You are going to do a major swoon when you see this super cool Day After Photoshoot by Danny Cuevas.

Lindsay + Tyler by Kristen Swanson. This beautiful outdoor wedding mixes vintage, modern and natural elements like a champ. I'm obsess about most of this desert beauty! Stop by the original post and you'll discover why.

Crystal + Daniel. Now THIS is the way to do old Hollywood romance!! You know, I totally love a couple that let their style and personalities shine through on the big day. This vintage-glam meets bohemian wedding by photographer extraordinaire Kristen Swanson is what I call fabulous!

Let's move on to the Engagements. I had no idea that a vintage themed engagement could be done so freaking gorgeously (is that a word?) until I met Kristen Swanson and bride-to-be (now married woman) Angelica from Mint Weddings. They have taken vintage to an entirely new style level. Take a look at Angelica + Che e-session and let me know what do you think.

Chris + Jami. Hold onto your hats, because you are just going to love these cute love-meets-fun images captured by Kendal Jessup Photography. I adore the country side scenes and the pinwheels. What about you?

Bianca + Omar. I have said before that sometimes all you need to get beautiful images of you and your honey is a bucket full of love and a meaningful location... ahhh and an awesome photographer like Stephane Lemaire. Take a look at this pretty e-session and you'll agree with me.

Approachable, light-hearted yet totally beautiful, Brooke + Travis engagement session had all the elements I love, country site scenes, simple and pretty props, cowboy boots and a lovely couple. This e-shoot by Dawson Tayler Studios seems to be one of your faves, and one of mines too.

Ashley + Jim by Dawson Taylor Studio. This cozy and romantic e-session is all-around beautiful, with coffee shops, vintage cameras, handmade details, beautiful sceneries and plenty of love.

CARNATIONS. I never would have thought that carnations could look so lavish. And, after seeing these images I can assure you that you will be a huge carnation fan, too. RIBBON. Ribbon has always play a major role on weddings. But nowadays ribbon is more popular than ever. With so many traditional forms and the up-coming chic new ways to incorporate ribbon into ceremonies and receptions, ribbon details will be a super hot wedding element in 2012. OMBRE. Ombre literally means "shaded" in French. It usually involves a multicolored stripe, with colors graduating from light to dark. Since the beginning of 2011, this trend has lately gained a new popularity in the wedding industry and will continue to be super trendy in 2012. Click here, here and here to enjoy some ombre treats. NON-WHITE WEDDING DRESSES. Until recently, wearing a non-white wedding dress was just for very audacious brides. We have Reese Witherspoon to thank for the rise of wedding gowns in blush. Since Witherspoon, a symbol of classic, give her approval to the trend wearing this soft shade of pink on her wedding-day, blush has made its official debut as an acceptable -not quirky- bridal gown color. But, besides blush, many designers are using colors like light gold, nudes, champagne, and even mint, black and grey, for their 2012 collections. Here is my run through of some of the best blush wedding gowns and gold wedding gowns out there. COOKIES AND MILK. Milk and cookies are uber hot at weddings right now. And I predict that their popularity will only increase during the next year. Here are 15 lovely ways to include this yummy treat in your event. (image source)

PEONIES. Who doesn’t love peonies? They are so romantic and pretty! In all their fluffiness and colorful array, peonies certainly won the affection of brides as one of the favorites wedding flowers on 2011 and will be even more famous during 2012. ORANGE. Expect to see a lot of orange all over the wedding blogs and magazines, since Pantone announced the color of the year for 2012: Tangerine Tango! Over the past year, orange has grown in popularity and acceptance among brides and designers alike. A provocative attention-getter, Tangerine Tango is especially appealing in bouquets and decor.

If you’re an uber-trendy Bride, you can’t fail to feature Tangerine Tango on your upcoming 2012 wedding. Flowers, bridesmaid dresses and shoes on this orange shade would be easy to find next year. (image source)
