[4:31] But if you avoid the great sins you have been forbidden, We shall wipe out your minor misdeeds and let you in through the entrance of honour.

[4:31] जिन कामों की तुम्हें मनाही की जाती है अगर उनमें से तुम गुनाहे कबीरा से बचते रहे तो हम तुम्हारे (सग़ीरा) गुनाहों से भी दरगुज़र करेंगे और तुमको बहुत अच्छी इज्ज़त की जगह पहुंचा देंगे.

[4:31] اگر تم بڑے بڑے گناہوں سے جن سے تم کو منع کیا جاتا ہے اجتناب رکھو گے تو ہم تمہارے (چھوٹے چھوٹے) گناہ معاف کردیں گے اور تمہیں عزت کے مکانوں میں داخل کریں گے.

[4:29] ए ईमानवालों आपस में एक दूसरे का माल नाहक़ न खा जाया करो लेकिन (हॉ) तुम लोगों की बाहमी रज़ामन्दी से तिजारत हो (और उसमें एक दूसरे का माल हो तो मुज़ाएक़ा नहीं) और अपना गला आप घूंट के अपनी जान न दो (क्योंकि) ख़ुदा तो ज़रूर तुम्हारे हाल पर मेहरबान है.

[4:29] مومنو! ایک دوسرے کا مال ناحق نہ کھاؤ ہاں اگر آپس کی رضامندی سے تجارت کا لین دین ہو (اور اس سے مالی فائدہ حاصل ہو جائے تو وہ جائز ہے) اور اپنے آپ کو ہلاک نہ کرو کچھ شک نہیں کہ خدا تم پر مہربان ہے.

[4:26] ख़ुदा तो ये चाहता है कि (अपने) एहकाम तुम लोगों से साफ़ साफ़ बयान कर दे और जो (अच्छे) लोग तुमसे पहले गुज़र चुके हैं उनके तरीक़े पर चला दे और तुम्हारी तौबा कुबूल करे और ख़ुदा तो (हर चीज़ से) वाक़िफ़ और हिकमत वाला है.

[4:25] If any of you does not have the means to marry a believing free woman, then marry a believing slave - God knows best [the depth of] your faith: you are [all] part of the same family - so marry them with their people's consent and their proper bride-gifts. [Make them] married women, not adulteresses or lovers. If they commit adultery when they are married, their punishment will be half that of free women. This is for those of you who fear that you will sin; it is better for you to practise self-restraint. God is most forgiving and merciful.

[4:25] और तुममें से जो शख्स आज़ाद इफ्फ़तदार औरतों से निकाह करने की माली हैसियत से क़ुदरत न रखता हो तो वह तुम्हारी उन मोमिना लौन्डियों से जो तुम्हारे कब्ज़े में हैं निकाह कर सकता है और ख़ुदा तुम्हारे ईमान से ख़ूब वाक़िफ़ है (ईमान की हैसियत से तो) तुममें एक दूसरे का हमजिन्स है पस (बे ताम्मुल) उनके मालिकों की इजाज़त से लौन्डियों से निकाह करो और उनका मेहर हुस्ने सुलूक से दे दो मगर उन्हीं (लौन्डियो) से निकाह करो जो इफ्फ़त के साथ तुम्हारी पाबन्द रहें न तो खुले आम ज़िना करना चाहें और न चोरी छिपे से आशनाई फिर जब तुम्हारी पाबन्द हो चुकी उसके बाद कोई बदकारी करे तो जो सज़ा आज़ाद बीवियों को दी जाती है उसकी आधी (सज़ा) लौन्डियों को दी जाएगी (और लौन्डियों) से निकाह कर भी सकता है तो वह शख्स जिसको ज़िना में मुब्तिला हो जाने का ख़ौफ़ हो और सब्र करे तो तुम्हारे हक़ में ज्यादा बेहतर है और ख़ुदा बख्शने वाला मेहरबान है.

[4:25] اور جو شخص تم میں سے مومن آزاد عورتوں (یعنی بیبیوں) سے نکاح کرنے کا مقدور نہ رکھے تو مومن لونڈیوں میں ہی جو تمہارے قبضے میں آگئی ہوں (نکاح کرلے) اور خدا تمہارے ایمان کو اچھی طرح جانتا ہے تم آپس میں ایک دوسرے کے ہم جنس ہو تو ان لونڈیوں کے ساتھ ان کے مالکوں سے اجازت حاصل کرکے نکاح کر لو اور دستور کے مطابق ان کا مہر بھی ادا کردو بشرطیکہ عفیفہ ہوں نہ ایسی کہ کھلم کھلا بدکاری کریں اور نہ درپردہ دوستی کرنا چاہیں پھر اگر نکاح میں آکر بدکاری کا ارتکاب کر بیٹھیں تو جو سزا آزاد عورتوں (یعنی بیبیوں) کے لئے ہے اس کی آدھی ان کو (دی جائے) یہ (لونڈی کے ساتھ نکاح کرنے کی) اجازت اس شخص کو ہے جسے گناہ کر بیٹھنے کا اندیشہ ہو اور اگر صبر کرو تو یہ تمہارے لئے بہت اچھا ہے اور خدا بخشنے والا مہربان ہے.

[4:24] Women already married, other than your slaves *Allah has ordained all this for you. Other women are lawful to you, so long as you seek them in marriage with gifts from your property, looking for wedlock rather than fornication. If you wish to enjoy women through marriage, give them their bride-gift- this is obligatory-though if you should choose mutually, after fulfilling this obligation, to do otherwise [with the bride gift] you will not be blamed: Allah is all knowing and all wise.

*Islam regards women who breastfeed other people’s infants as their ‘milkmothers’, not merely ‘wet nurses’.

**Slave women were often unclaimed war captives, who would not be in a position to dissolve any previous marriage. An owner was not permitted to touch a slave woman whose husband was with her.

[4:24] और शौहरदार औरतें मगर वह औरतें जो (जिहाद में कुफ्फ़ार से) तुम्हारे कब्ज़े में आ जाएं हराम नहीं (ये) ख़ुदा का तहरीरी हुक्म (है जो) तुमपर (फ़र्ज़ किया गया) है और उन औरतों के सिवा (और औरतें) तुम्हारे लिए जायज़ हैं बशर्ते कि बदकारी व ज़िना नहीं बल्कि तुम इफ्फ़त या पाकदामिनी की ग़रज़ से अपने माल (व मेहर) के बदले (निकाह करना) चाहो हॉ जिन औरतों से तुमने मुताअ किया हो तो उन्हें जो मेहर मुअय्यन किया है दे दो और मेहर के मुक़र्रर होने के बाद अगर आपस में (कम व बेश पर) राज़ी हो जाओ तो उसमें तुमपर कुछ गुनाह नहीं है बेशक ख़ुदा (हर चीज़ से) वाक़िफ़ और मसलेहतों का पहचानने वाला है.

[4:24] اور شوہر والی عورتیں بھی (تم پر حرام ہیں) مگر وہ جو (اسیر ہو کر لونڈیوں کے طور پر) تمہارے قبضے میں آجائیں (یہ حکم) خدا نے تم کو لکھ دیا ہے اور ان (محرمات) کے سوا اور عورتیں تم کو حلال ہیں اس طرح سے کہ مال خرچ کر کے ان سے نکاح کرلو بشرطیکہ (نکاح سے) مقصود عفت قائم رکھنا ہو نہ شہوت رانی تو جن عورتوں سے تم فائدہ حاصل کرو ان کا مہر جو مقرر کیا ہو ادا کردو اور اگر مقرر کرنے کے بعد آپس کی رضامندی سے مہر میں کمی بیشی کرلو تو تم پر کچھ گناہ نہیں بےشک خدا سب کچھ جاننے والا (اور) حکمت والا ہے.

[4:23] You are forbidden to take as wives your mothers, daughters, sisters, paternal and maternal aunts, the daughters of brothers and daughters of sisters, your milk-mothers and milk-sisters *your wives, mothers, the step daughters in your care- those born of women with whom you have consummated marriage, if you have not consummated the marriage, then you will not be blamed- wives of your begotten sons, two sisters simultaneously- with the exception of what is past. ALLAH is most forgiving and merciful.

[4:23] (मुसलमानों हसबे जेल) औरतें तुम पर हराम की गयी हैं तुम्हारी माएं (दादी नानी वगैरह सब) और तुम्हारी बेटियॉ (पोतियॉ) नवासियॉ (वगैरह) और तुम्हारी बहनें और तुम्हारी फुफियॉ और तुम्हारी ख़ालाएं और भतीजियॉ और भंजियॉ और तुम्हारी वह माएं जिन्होंने तुमको दूध पिलाया है और तुम्हारी रज़ाई (दूध शरीक) बहनें और तुम्हारी बीवीयों की माँए और वह (मादर ज़िलो) लड़कियां जो तुम्हारी गोद में परवरिश पा चुकी हो और उन औरतों (के पेट) से (पैदा हुई) हैं जिनसे तुम हमबिस्तरी कर चुके हो हाँ अगर तुमने उन बीवियों से (सिर्फ निकाह किया हो) हमबिस्तरी न की तो अलबत्ता उन मादरज़िलों (लड़कियों से) निकाह (करने में) तुम पर कुछ गुनाह नहीं है और तुम्हारे सुलबी लड़को (पोतों नवासों वगैरह) की बीवियॉ (बहुएं) और दो बहनों से एक साथ निकाह करना मगर जो हो चुका (वह माफ़ है) बेशक ख़ुदा बड़ा बख्शने वाला मेहरबान है.

[4:23] تم پر تمہاری مائیں اور بیٹیاں اور بہنیں اور پھوپھیاں اور خالائیں اور بھتیجیاں اور بھانجیاں اور وہ مائیں جنہوں نے تم کو دودھ پلایا ہو اور رضاعی بہنیں اور ساسیں حرام کر دی گئی ہیں اور جن عورتوں سے تم مباشرت کر چکے ہو ان کی لڑکیاں جنہیں تم پرورش کرتے (ہو وہ بھی تم پر حرام ہیں) ہاں اگر ان کے ساتھ تم نے مباشرت نہ کی ہو تو (ان کی لڑکیوں کے ساتھ نکاح کر لینے میں) تم پر کچھ گناہ نہیں اور تمہارے صلبی بیٹوں کی عورتیں بھی اور دو بہنوں کا اکٹھا کرنا بھی (حرام ہے) مگر جو ہو چکا (سو ہو چکا) بے شک خدا بخشنے والا (اور) رحم کرنے والا ہے .

[4:22] Do not marry women that your fathers married 'with the exception of what has already occurred' this is indeed a shameful thing to do, loathsome and leading to evil.

[4:22] और जिन औरतों से तुम्हारे बाप दादाओं से (निकाह) जमाअ (अगरचे ज़िना) किया हो तुम उनसे निकाह न करो मगर जो हो चुका (वह तो हो चुका) वह बदकारी और ख़ुदा की नाख़ुशी की बात ज़रूर थी और बहुत बुरा तरीक़ा था.

[4:22] اور جن عورتوں سے تمہارے باپ نے نکاح کیا ہو ان نکاح مت کرنا (مگر جاہلیت میں) جو ہوچکا (سوہوچکا) یہ نہایت بےحیائی اور (خدا کی) ناخوشی کی بات تھی۔ اور بہت برا دستور تھا ۔

[4:20] If you wish to replace one wife with another, do not take any of her bride-gift back, even if you have given her a great amount of gold. Would you take it by slandering her and with manifest sinfulness?

[4:20] और अगर तुम एक बीवी (को तलाक़ देकर उस) की जगह दूसरी बीवी (निकाह करके) तबदील करना चाहो तो अगरचे तुम उनमें से एक को (जिसे तलाक़ देना चाहते हो) बहुत सा माल दे चुके हो तो तुम उनमें से कुछ (वापस न लो) क्या तुम्हारी यही गैरत है कि (ख्वाह मा ख्वाह) बोहतान बॉधकर या सरीही जुर्म लगाकर वापस ले लो.

[4:20] اور اگر تم ایک عورت کو چھوڑ کر دوسری عورت کرنی چاہو۔ اور پہلی عورت کو بہت سال مال دے چکے ہو تو اس میں سے کچھ مت لینا۔ بھلا تم ناجائز طور پر اور صریح ظلم سے اپنا مال اس سے واپس لے لوگے؟

[4:19] You who believe, it is not lawful for you to inherit women against their will, nor should you treat your wives harshly, hoping to take back some of what you have given them, unless they are guilty of something clearly outrageous.Live with them in accordance with what is fair and kind: If you dislike them, it may well be that you dislike something in which ALLAH has put much good.

[4:19] ऐ ईमानदारों तुमको ये जायज़ नहीं कि (अपने मुरिस की) औरतों से (निकाह कर) के (ख्वाह मा ख्वाह) ज़बरदस्ती वारिस बन जाओ और जो कुछ तुमने उन्हें (शौहर के तर्के से) दिया है उसमें से कुछ (आपस से कुछ वापस लेने की नीयत से) उन्हें दूसरे के साथ (निकाह करने से) न रोको हॉ जब वह खुल्लम खुल्ला कोई बदकारी करें तो अलबत्ता रोकने में (मज़ाएक़ा (हर्ज)नहीं) और बीवियों के साथ अच्छा सुलूक करते रहो और अगर तुम किसी वजह से उन्हें नापसन्द करो (तो भी सब्र करो क्योंकि) अजब नहीं कि किसी चीज़ को तुम नापसन्द करते हो और ख़ुदा तुम्हारे लिए उसमें बहुत बेहतरी कर दे .

[4:19] مومنو! تم کو جائز نہیں کہ زبردستی عورتوں کے وارث بن جاؤ۔ اور (دیکھنا) اس نیت سے کہ جو کچھ تم نے ان کو دیا ہے اس میں سے کچھ لے لو انہیں (گھروں میں) میں مت روک رکھنا ہاں اگر وہ کھلے طور پر بدکاری کی مرتکب ہوں (تو روکنا مناسب نہیں) اور ان کے ساتھ اچھی طرح رہو سہو اگر وہ تم کو ناپسند ہوں تو عجب نہیں کہ تم کسی چیز کو ناپسند کرو اور خدا اس میں بہت سی بھلائی پیدا کردے ۔

[4:17-18] [17] But God only undertakes to accept repentance from those who do evil out of ignorance and soon afterwards repent: these are the ones God will forgive, He is all knowing, all wise.

[18] It is not true repentance when people continue to do evil until death confronts them and then say, 'Now I repent,' nor when they die defiant: We have prepared a painful punishment for these.

[4:17-18] [17] मगर ख़ुदा की बारगाह में तौबा तो सिर्फ उन्हीं लोगों की (ठीक) है जो नादानिस्ता बुरी हरकत कर बैठे (और) फिर जल्दी से तौबा कर ले तो ख़ुदा भी ऐसे लोगों की तौबा क़ुबूल कर लेता है और ख़ुदा तो बड़ा जानने वाला हकीम है.

[18] और तौबा उन लोगों के लिये (मुफ़ीद) नहीं है जो (उम्र भर) तो बुरे काम करते रहे यहॉ तक कि जब उनमें से किसी के सर पर मौत आ खड़ी हुई तो कहने लगे अब मैंने तौबा की और (इसी तरह) उन लोगों के लिए (भी तौबा) मुफ़ीद नहीं है जो कुफ़्र ही की हालत में मर गये ऐसे ही लोगों के वास्ते हमने दर्दनाक अज़ाब तैयार कर रखा है.

[4:17-18] [17] اور جو دو مرد تم میں سے بدکاری کریں تو ان کو ایذا دو۔ پھر اگر وہ توبہ کرلیں اور نیکوکار ہوجائیں تو ان کا پیچھا چھوڑ دو۔ بےشک خدا توبہ قبول کرنے والا (اور) مہربان ہے - خدا انہیں لوگوں کی توبہ قبول فرماتا ہے جو نادانی سے بری حرکت کر بیٹھے ہیں۔ پھر جلد توبہ قبول کرلیتے ہیں پس ایسے لوگوں پر خدا مہربانی کرتا ہے۔ اور وہ سب کچھ جانتا (اور) حکمت والا ہے ۔

[18] اور ایسے لوگوں کی توبہ قبول نہیں ہوتی جو (ساری عمر) برے کام کرتے ہیں۔ یہاں تک کہ جب ان میں سے کسی موت آموجود ہو تو اس وقت کہنے لگے کہ اب میں توبہ کرتا ہوں اور نہ ان کی (توبہ قبول ہوتی ہے) جو کفر کی حالت میں مریں۔ ایسے لوگوں کے لئے ہم نے عذاب الیم تیار کر رکھا ہے ۔

[4:16] और तुम लोगों में से जिनसे बदकारी सरज़द हुई हो उनको मारो पीटो फिर अगर वह दोनों (अपनी हरकत से) तौबा करें और इस्लाह कर लें तो उनको छोड़ दो बेशक ख़ुदा बड़ा तौबा कुबूल करने वाला मेहरबान है

[4:16] اور جو دو مرد تم میں سے بدکاری کریں تو ان کو ایذا دو۔ پھر اگر وہ توبہ کرلیں اور نیکوکار ہوجائیں تو ان کا پیچھا چھوڑ دو۔ بےشک خدا توبہ قبول کرنے والا (اور) مہربان ہے.

[4:15] और वह उसमें हमेशा अपना किया भुगतता रहेगा और उसके लिए बड़ी रूसवाई का अज़ाब है और तुम्हारी औरतों में से जो औरतें बदकारी करें तो उनकी बदकारी पर अपने लोगों में से चार गवाही लो और फिर अगर चारों गवाह उसकी तसदीक़ करें तो (उसकी सज़ा ये है कि) उनको घरों में बन्द रखो यहॉ तक कि मौत आ जाए या ख़ुदा उनकी कोई (दूसरी) राह निकाले.

[4:15] مسلمانو تمہاری عورتوں میں جو بدکاری کا ارتکاب کر بیٹھیں ان پر اپنے لوگوں میں سے چار شخصوں کی شہادت لو۔ اگر وہ (ان کی بدکاری کی)گواہی دیں تو ان عورتوں کو گھروں میں بند رکھو یہاں تک کہ موت ان کا کام تمام کردے یا خدا ان کے لئے کوئی اور سبیل (پیدا) کرے ۔

[4:13] यह ख़ुदा की (मुक़र्रर की हुई) हदें हैं और ख़ुदा और रसूल की इताअत करे उसको ख़ुदा आख़ेरत में ऐसे (हर भरे) बाग़ों में पहुंचा देगा जिसके नीचे नहरें जारी होंगी और वह उनमें हमेशा (चैन से) रहेंगे और यही तो बड़ी कामयाबी है.

[4:13] (یہ تمام احکام) خدا کی حدیں ہیں۔ اور جو شخص خدا اور اس کے پیغمبر کی فرمانبرداری کرے گا خدا اس کو بہشتوں میں داخل کرے گا جن میں نہریں بہہ رہی ہیں وہ ان میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے۔اور یہ بڑی کامیابی ہے ۔

[4:12] You inherit half of what your wives leave, if they have no children if they have children, you inherit a quarter. [In all cases, the distribution comes] after payment of any bequests or debts. If you have no children, your wives' share is a quarter; if you have , your wives get an eighth. [In all cases, the distribution comes] after payment of any bequests or debts. If a man or a woman dies leaving no children or parents, but a single brother or sister, he or she should take one-sixth of the inheritance; if there are more siblings, they share one-third between them. [In all cases, the distribution comes] after payment of any bequests or debts, with no harm done to anyone: this is a commandment from God: God is all knowing and benign to all.

[4:12] और जो कुछ तुम्हारी बीवियां छोड़ कर (मर) जाए पस अगर उनके कोई औलाद न हो तो तुम्हारा आधा है और अगर उनके कोई औलाद हो तो जो कुछ वह तरका छोड़े उसमें से बाज़ चीज़ों में चौथाई तुम्हारा है (और वह भी) औरत ने जिसकी वसीयत की हो और (अदाए) क़र्ज़ के बाद अगर तुम्हारे कोई औलाद न हो तो तुम्हारे तरके में से तुम्हारी बीवियों का बाज़ चीज़ों में चौथाई है और अगर तुम्हारी कोई औलाद हो तो तुम्हारे तर्के में से उनका ख़ास चीज़ों में आठवॉ हिस्सा है (और वह भी) तुमने जिसके बारे में वसीयत की है उसकी तामील और (अदाए) क़र्ज़ के बाद और अगर कोई मर्द या औरत अपनी मादरजिलों (ख्याली) भाई या बहन को वारिस छोड़े तो उनमें से हर एक का ख़ास चीजों में छठा हिस्सा है और अगर उससे ज्यादा हो तो सबके सब एक ख़ास तिहाई में शरीक़ रहेंगे और (ये सब) मय्यत ने जिसके बारे में वसीयत की है उसकी तामील और (अदाए) क़र्ज क़े बाद मगर हॉ वह वसीयत (वारिसों को ख्वाह मख्वाह) नुक्सान पहुंचाने वाली न हो (तब) ये वसीयत ख़ुदा की तरफ़ से है और ख़ुदा तो हर चीज़ का जानने वाला और बुर्दबार है .

[4:12] اور جو مال تمہاری عورتیں چھوڑ مریں۔ اگر ان کے اولاد نہ ہو تو اس میں نصف حصہ تمہارا۔ اور اگر اولاد ہو تو ترکے میں تمہارا حصہ چوتھائی۔ (لیکن یہ تقسیم) وصیت (کی تعمیل) کے بعد جو انہوں نے کی ہو یا قرض کے (ادا ہونے کے بعد جو ان کے ذمے ہو، کی جائے گی) اور جو مال تم (مرد) چھوڑ مرو۔ اگر تمہارے اولاد نہ ہو تو تمہاری عورتوں کا اس میں چوتھا حصہ۔ اور اگر اولاد ہو تو ان کا آٹھواں حصہ (یہ حصے) تمہاری وصیت (کی تعمیل) کے بعد جو تم نے کی ہو اور (ادائے) قرض کے (بعد تقسیم کئے جائیں گے) اور اگر ایسے مرد یا عورت کی میراث ہو جس کے نہ باپ ہو نہ بیٹا مگر اس کے بھائی بہن ہو تو ان میں سے ہر ایک کا چھٹا حصہ اور اگر ایک سے زیادہ ہوں تو سب ایک تہائی میں شریک ہوں گے (یہ حصے بھی ادائے وصیت و قرض بشرطیکہ ان سے میت نے کسی کا نقصان نہ کیا ہو (تقسیم کئے جائیں گے) یہ خدا کا فرمان ہے۔ اور خدا نہایت علم والا (اور) نہایت حلم والا ہے ۔

[4:11] [Regarding distribution of inheritance] Concerning your children, God commands you that a son should have the equivalent share of two daughters. If there are only daughters, two or more should share two-thirds of the inheritance, if one, she should have half. Parents inherit a sixth each if the deceased leaves children; if he leaves no children and his parents are his sole heirs, his mother has a third, unless he has brothers, in which case she has a sixth. [In all cases, the distribution comes] after payment of any bequests or debts. You cannot know which of your parents or your children is more beneficial to you: this is a law from God, and He is all knowing, all wise.

[4:11] (मुसलमानों) ख़ुदा तुम्हारी औलाद के हक़ में तुमसे वसीयत करता है कि लड़के का हिस्सा दो लड़कियों के बराबर है और अगर (मय्यत की) औलाद में सिर्फ लड़कियॉ ही हों (दो) या (दो) से ज्यादा तो उनका (मक़र्रर हिस्सा) कुल तर्के का दो तिहाई है और अगर एक लड़की हो तो उसका आधा है और मय्यत के बाप मॉ हर एक का अगर मय्यत की कोई औलाद मौजूद न हो तो माल मुस्तरद का में से मुअय्यन (ख़ास चीज़ों में) छटा हिस्सा है और अगर मय्यत के कोई औलाद न हो और उसके सिर्फ मॉ बाप ही वारिस हों तो मॉ का मुअय्यन (ख़ास चीज़ों में) एक तिहाई हिस्सा तय है और बाक़ी बाप का लेकिन अगर मय्यत के (हक़ीक़ी और सौतेले) भाई भी मौजूद हों तो (अगरचे उन्हें कुछ न मिले) उस वक्त मॉ का हिस्सा छठा ही होगा (और वह भी) मय्यत नें जिसके बारे में वसीयत की है उसकी तालीम और (अदाए) क़र्ज़ के बाद तुम्हारे बाप हों या बेटे तुम तो यह नहीं जानते हों कि उसमें कौन तुम्हारी नाफ़रमानी में ज्यादा क़रीब है (फिर तुम क्या दख़ल दे सकते हो) हिस्सा तो सिर्फ ख़ुदा की तरफ़ से मुअय्यन होता है क्योंकि ख़ुदा तो ज़रूर हर चीज़ को जानता और तदबीर वाला है .

[4:11] خدا تمہاری اولاد کے بارے میں تم کو ارشاد فرماتا ہے کہ ایک لڑکے کا حصہ دو لڑکیوں کے حصے کے برابر ہے۔ اور اگر اولاد میت صرف لڑکیاں ہی ہوں (یعنی دو یا) دو سے زیادہ تو کل ترکے میں ان کادو تہائی۔ اور اگر صرف ایک لڑکی ہو تو اس کا حصہ نصف۔ اور میت کے ماں باپ کا یعنی دونوں میں سے ہر ایک کا ترکے میں چھٹا حصہ بشرطیکہ میت کے اولاد ہو۔ اور اگر اولاد نہ ہو اور صرف ماں باپ ہی اس کے وارث ہوں تو ایک تہائی ماں کا حصہ۔ اور اگر میت کے بھائی بھی ہوں تو ماں کا چھٹا حصہ۔ (اور یہ تقسیم ترکہ میت کی) وصیت (کی تعمیل) کے بعد جو اس نے کی ہو یا قرض کے (ادا ہونے کے بعد جو اس کے ذمے ہو عمل میں آئے گی) تم کو معلوم نہیں کہ تمہارے باپ دادؤں اور بیٹوں پوتوں میں سے فائدے کے لحاظ سے کون تم سے زیادہ قریب ہے، یہ حصے خدا کے مقرر کئے ہوئے ہیں اور خدا سب کچھ جاننے والا اور حکمت والا ہے ۔

[4:9] [Regarding distribution of inheritance] Let those [executors and guardians] who would fear for the future of their own helpless children, if they were to die, show the same concern [for orphans]; let them be mindful of God and speak out for justice.

[4:9] और उन लोगों को डरना (और ख्याल करना चाहिये) कि अगर वह लोग ख़ुद अपने बाद (नन्हे नन्हे) नातवॉ बच्चे छोड़ जाते तो उन पर (किस क़दर) तरस आता पस उनको (ग़रीब बच्चों पर सख्ती करने में) ख़ुदा से डरना चाहिये और उनसे सीधी तरह बात करना चाहिए.

[4:9] اور ایسے لوگوں کو ڈرنا چاہیئے جو (ایسی حالت میں ہوں کہ) اپنے بعد ننھے ننھے بچے چھوڑ جائیں اور ان کو ان کی نسبت خوف ہو (کہ ان کے مرنے کے بعد ان بیچاروں کا کیا حال ہوگا) پس چاہیئے کہ یہ لوگ خدا سے ڈریں اور معقول بات کہیں .

और जब (तर्क की) तक़सीम के वक्त (वह) क़राबतदार (जिनका कोई हिस्सा नहीं) और यतीम बच्चे और मोहताज लोग आ जाएं तो उन्हे भी कुछ उसमें से दे दो और उसे अच्छी तरह (उनवाने शाइस्ता से) बात करो.

[4:8] اور جب میراث کی تقسیم کے وقت (غیر وارث) رشتہ دار اور یتیم اور محتاج آجائیں تو ان کو بھی اس میں سے کچھ دے دیا کرو۔ اور شیریں کلامی سے پیش آیا کرو ۔
