1. Denim

Look deep into your closet, go waay in the back, hidden somewhere in the wardrobe abyss you’ll find a crucial summer staple, denim. We know you have that denim top or those denim shorts hidden somewhere. It’s time to take them out because denim is huge this season. The 80′s trend of paring denim with denim is back.  This season we’re also seeing colored and printed denim. Think Kelly Kapowski…. Ok! Maybe you don’t have to take it to The Maxx, but you get the picture!

Suggestions: Try mixing different washes together or traditional denim with colored/printed denim. Complete your look with modern elements so you don’t look like Punky Brewster, unless you like that sort of thing! Hey, we don’t judge!

2. Prints on bottom

Again we see an 80′s trend back in full effect! From leggings to denim jeans to casual business pants we are seeing this everywhere. Make sure you pair this look with the right print or solid colored top. Be very careful when pairing print on print, though we love the look not everyone can pull it off and it takes a certain je nais se qua to work it! What’s great about this trend is that it’s versatile, you can take the same printed pants from work to a date or straight on through to the weekend. 

Suggestions: Keep the color palette in the same family if you want to pair print on print. If not try pairing a solid blazer, with a solid flowy chiffon blouse to balance out the printed pants. For a more risque look go with a solid cropped top. Make sure to play around with a few looks first to see what fits your body type best.

3. Luxe Punk Accessories

Punk accessories are popping up all over the place, from shoes to bracelets to rings and even headpieces. The best part about this trend is how versatile  and affordable these pieces can be.

Suggestions: Slap on some classic pieces with luxe punk accessories to make the final look feminine with a hint of edge, what I like to call Edgyfem (feminine-edgy attire). This look goes great with classic ensembles. Think prep meets punk rock  and you’ve  got yourself the perfect summer look.

4. See throughs

Comfort is key for the summer which is why see through pieces are all the rage, from sheer tops to sheer skirts, this trend is easy to wear, mix and match and best of all it won’t make you sweat!

Suggestions: You want to make sure this look is subtle and feminine NOT raunchy. Pair a sheer top with jean shorts and flat sandals or wear a sheer long skirt with a tank top  and a statement necklace!

5.Waist-Tied Oxfords

Waist-tied oxfords are very popular right now!  To get the look, simply grab a long button down blouse and shorten it by unbuttoning the last 1 or 2 buttons, then tie each side together creating a knot in the center and you’re done!  This small detail makes it very easy to transition from one season to the next while completely changing your look and best of all  you don’t need to spend a dime in the process. Also you might want to roll up the sleeves for extra comfort and voila! You’ve got yourself a great summer look!

Suggestions: You can also create this look with a shorter length blouse. Create the midriff tied oxford and combine it with a long flowy skirt which is perfect for the beach.

We are very excited to officially launch the first swimwear line on our site. Peixoto swim & resort wear is for women of all ages who like to look and feel sophisticated chic! When we met with Peixoto designer, Mauricio Esquenazi, we fell in love with his line and instantly knew we needed to have it. We were able to get the scoop on Mauricio and get some insight into his swim line and what initially motivated him to become a swimwear designer.

Warning: Ladies, be for-warned you will fall in LOVE with the fit and style! We promise you! 

1. When did you decide you wanted to be a designer?

“I’ve always had it in me because the fashion industry has been in my family since I can remember, but it was not until a few years ago  that I found myself wanting to learn everything about the industry.”

2. Which designer(s) do you feel has influenced you in your career and work?

“Family ties and values, combined with extensive travels have influenced and helped me develop the sophisticated aesthetics and looks of Peixoto.”

3. What made you want to design bathing suits?

“I felt that women were not happy with their swimsuits, the bottoms were either too big or too small, too tight or too loose. I also noticed that there was not a swimsuit out there that my girlfriend would be able to wear around my family – a swimsuit in which she felt comfortable and sexy, that my parents would not judge for being too revealing, and that I would like how she looked.

Additionally, women often struggle to find the ideal swimsuit that properly fits their bodies and enhances their look while exuding youth and beauty. The age of the skimpy young bikini has passed and no one will ever be ready for mature-aged swimsuits. Peixoto offers women a swimsuit that will let them feel sexy, sophisticated and comfortable in their own skin.”

4. In three words how would you describe your designs?

“Sophisticated, Sexy, Timeless.”

5. Do your designs reflect your personal style? if, so how so?

“Peixoto definitely reflects my personal style and you will see once you get to know me. Less is More!”

6. Do you have a certain type of woman in mind when you’re creating/designing a collection?

“Peixoto is made for all types of women, but when designing, I am thinking about today’s elegant and sophisticated women who turn heads because of how they carry themselves. The Peixoto woman seduces through mystery, sophistication and elegance, without giving it all away at first glance.”

7. What can we expect for your upcoming line and when will it be available?

“The next line will be Summer 2013 and I can say that it will be more feminine and elegant. We will also be seeing a few of our signature styles back in new colors, prints and combinations. For example, Tito, Bella and Amore Puro will be reintroduced.”
