If you like Ronin (Robert DeNiro/Ensemble cast), about a freelancing
former US intelligence agent who tries to track down a mysterious
package that is wanted by both the Irish and the Russians then you are
going to love Killer Elite. Killer Elite has (Jason Statham/Robert
Deniro/Clive Owen/Dominic Purcell from Prison Break) Statham, a former
special forces operative trying to rescues his mentor after he is
taken captive. Stathams' mission should he accept it is to kill three
former SAS soldiers who killed a shiek's son the during the war of
Oman (for oil - what else). As Statham set off to kill the former SAS
soldiers, he himself becomes the target as a retired member of
Britain's Elite Special Air Service (Owen) is forced into action and
he dispatches his own assassins to head off Statham and his team.
Classic espianage thriller if you are into that genre i.e.: Bourne
Series, Ronin, MI 1-3, Hunt for Red October, Spy Games, Salt (Which
surprisingly was a really good movie), Mr/Mr. Smith, Columbiana (could
have been better).... If you like these movies you will like Killer
Elite out on Amazon streaming service - $3.99.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1448755/

IP Man a semi-biographical account of Yip Man, the first martial arts
master to teach the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun that Bruce Lee
later popularized is an instant classic. Aside from the the martial
arts scenes IP Man shows us triumph of the human spirit even in the
face of dispair. IP Man is a study in how to keep your dignity, honor,
and loyalty even when you backs against the wall. This movie will be
one of my all time favorites and if you like action (martial arts),
drama, period pieces, and movies that give you a reason to forward
this movie is for you. Note though this movie is subtitled but don't
let that stop you it's an instant classic.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1220719/

A couple of weeks ago Serena Williams was diagnosed with a pulmonary
embolism and you wonder how could an elite athlete get a embolism...
An embolism Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a blockage of the main artery
of the lung or one of its branches by a substance that has travelled
from elsewhere in the body through the bloodstream (embolism).
Symptoms include ymptoms of pulmonary embolism include difficulty
breathing, chest pain on inspiration, and palpitations. Clinical signs
include low blood oxygen saturation and cyanosis, rapid breathing, and
a rapid heart rate. Severe cases of PE can lead to collapse,
abnormally low blood pressure, and sudden death.
A pulmonary embolism occurs after a clot forms in one of the large
veins in the legs or pelvis. The largest clots are fatal in 30-60% of
the cases. The main cause of embolisms is prolonged inactivity such
are during air travel or recuperation from surgery such as the case
for Williams. Immobility decreases the amount of blood that circulates
thought the veins, increasing the risk for clots.
Hear a some things you can do to prevent embolisms:
Wear compression stockings or socks on long flights or car trips
longer than two hours if you are overweight or at risk for clots. The
compression helps exert light pressure on the veins, which helps
crculate blood back to the heart. Compression socks/stocking should be
available at your local pharmacies - Walgreens or CVS. Other
preventatives include: walking at three times per our and/or stretch
your calf muscles every 20 minutes to keep the blood pumping.

	Workout, Chest & Back, 12/20/11
Workout started out slow (2/5) after I performed a 4min warm-up on the
lifecycle I started the the workout with two sets of pushups superset
with pull ups (see below). As the workout progressed and the music
from personal Spotify play list (see below) picked so did my
intensity. My pre-workout meal consisted on medium sweet potatoes and
2-egg muffins (see facebook.com/activehealthywell photos) 1 hour prior
to the workout and Neurocore pre-workout powder prior to walking out
the door. My overall workout l intensity I would rate at 4/5 after the
initial set of DB Bench, I the energy and intensity kicked in combined
with the music made for a great workout. The 20 minute MetCon-Steady
state at the end added extra endorphins too.
Warm-up
4 min warm up on the lifecycle
Chest & Back Exercises
I performed a giant set consisting of the following exercises, sets,
and reps taking very little rest in between exercises. In a giant set
you perform exercises for the same of different muscle group moving
from one exercise to another taking very little rest in between
exercises – usually less than 10 seconds.
 Super Set Group 1
 Pushups: BW X 20 rep X 2 sets
Underhand grip Pull ups: BW X 10 reps X 2 sets
Super Set Group 2
 DB Bench Press: 90 X 8 reps X 2 sets
 Tbar Rows: 90 X 20 reps X 2 sets [45X2]
 Super Set Group 3
 Machine Incline Bench: 180 X 15 reps X 2 sets
 Seated Rows: 200 X 8 reps X 2 sets
Super Set Group 4
 Dips: BW X 10 / Underhand grip Pull ups: BW X 10
 Dips: BW X 10 / Underhand grip Pullups: BW X 10
Super Set Group 5
 DB Dead lifts: 60 X 5 / HyperExtensions-Front 10 reps /Reverse 10 reps
 DB Dead lifts: 70 X 5 / HyperExtensions-Front 10 reps /Reverse 10 reps
 DB Dead lifts: 80 X 5 / HyperExtensions-Front 10 reps /Reverse 10 reps

At the end of the workout, I performed a 20min HIT/Steady state cardio
routine on a life-cycle and not on a treadmill because I have bad
knees from years of football.
8 min – HIT= High Intensity otherwise known as Intervals where you
alternate; 1min High Intensity (200 watts) and 1min Low Intensity (70
watts)
12 min of steady state cardio at 70 – 130 watts immediately following HIT
Post Workout
Immediately after your workout you need to eat, drink, or both within
30 minutes to 1.5 hours afterward. You should strive for a 4:1 Carb to
Protein ratio. Why? After a workout is a critical time for growth and
recovery as your cells and hormones (specifically, Insulin one of the
most anabolic hormones in the body) are most receptive at that time.
Insulin is a hormone central to regulating carbohydrate and fat
metabolism in the body. Insulin causes cells in the liver, muscle, and
fat tissue to take up glucose from the blood, storing it as glycogen
in the liver and muscle.
Tonight I had 1.5cups of chocolate milk with the Gaspari Chocolate
Protein powder some of the best tasting protein powder on the market
right now. I chased that down with 1tsp of Creatine and 1tsp of
Glutamine, Mmmm good. Prior to bead tonight I will have another dose
of Glutamine and Liquid Amino’s for recovery.
This is a very important concept that I am not going to talk about in
depth here as it is a very extensive topic that deserves much more
than I want to talk about in this workout post. I will revisit the
concept in another post however if you want to know more check out
Nutrient Timing by John Ivy et al.
Music by Spotify
To assist with intensity, I usually listen to rap and that’s probably
the only time I listen to it. It serves its function in the gym to
keep me HYPE and INTENSE throughout the workout. Here’s the play list:
 Public Enemy: Bring Da Noise
*Busta Rhymes: Respect My Conglomerate
*Travis Barker Let’s Go, Give the Drummer
Lil Wayne: Lollipop
*Diddy: Angels
Freeway: Free At Last
DJ Khaled: I’m On One
*Pharoahe Monk: Simon Says
*Timbaland: Carry Out
FloRida featuring Timbaland: Elevator
*Right now my two favorite HYPE songs that I can play over and over
are The Game’s, One Blood and Busta’s, Respect My Conglomerate.
There’s something about those two songs that just make me want to
break through glass blocks and when I need that extra Umph – I replay
those two songs because the beat is so infectious and it take you up
one level and sometimes you need all the help you can get.
Diet
On workout days, my calories are higher as I follow the Cheat to Lose
diet methodology whereby I vary my calories based on my activities;
however my macros stay the same. My diet on workout days is as follows
and keep in mind this is a custom diet based on my body-weight and
goals.
Meal 1: Starbucks French Roast 3cups + 2 protein, oat, and pumpkin muffins
Meal 2: Protein drink blended with spinach, berries, and almond
milk using Magic Bullet
Meal 3: 2cups Brown Rice, 2cups Ground Turkey, Broccoli,
Cauliflower, Kidney Beans, 1/2 cup Spinach
Meal 4: Medium Sweet Potato, 2 -Egg muffins (with spinach)
Pre workout: Neurocore drink
Post workout: 2cups of 2% Organic Milk (I ran out of chocolate
milk) with 30gm Gaspari MyoFusion Chocolate protein powder
Meal 5: 1cup Brown rice, 2 chicken breasts
Prior to Bed: Glutamine, Liquid Amino’s
Yes I really eat all this stuff check out the pics here
www.facebook.com/activehealthywell.
My stats
: Age: 41 | Weight: 223 | Bodyfat: 22% (49lbs) | Lean Muscle: 174lbs
Benny Jones Jr., Fitness-Weightloss Consultant

On workout days, my calories are higher as I follow the Cheat to Lose
diet methodology whereby I vary my calories based on my activities;
however my macros stay the same. My diet on workout days is as follows
and keep in mind this is a custom diet based on my body-weight and
goals.
Food item Calories Protein (g) Carb (g) Fiber (g) Fat (g) Sodium (mg)
7am
PP 157 25 5 1 3 60
almond milk 40 1 2 1 4 180
 9.30am
1/2 oatmeal 150 5 26 4 3
1/2 berries 40 1 10 2
vanilla pp 130 23 3 2.5 50
1Tsp flax
 11.30am
1C Turkey Chili 236 22 27.6 9.6 5 194
1C mixed veges 35 1 6 2 25
1C B-Rice 216 6 44 4 2 10
 3.00pm
20oz Latte 130 12 18 6 140
Oh Yeah PB 380 27 30 5 20 110

6.00pm
1-Egg muffin 70 6 0 5 70
.5C B-Rice 108 3 22 2 1 5
 7.00pm
Atkins PD
 9.00pm
1C ChocoMilk 170 8 24 5 250
PP 157 25 5 1 3 60
Glut/Creatine 14g 40 9 28

10.30pm
2-5oz Protein 110 25 1 2 40
1-sm swt potatoe 103 2 24 4 1 41
1/2 avocado
Peanut Butter 95 4 3 1 8
 11.30pm
Coconut Oil 125 0 14
Liquid Aminos 80 15 5
Aminos
Glutamine
 Total 2572 211 264.6 36.6 84.5 1263
Grams Conversion 844 1058.4 760.5
Macro 0.3281493 0.411509 0.295684
In any event, my workouts tonight was about 60 minutes and it
consisted of the following:
1. I always perform a 4 – 20 min warmup on the lifecycle depending on
what I want to achieve during that workout session.
20 minute warm up to warm the entire body and loosen connective tissue
and prepare the body for the workout.
2. I normally superset antagonistic bodyparts because (1) its a more
intense way to train; (2) it saves time; (3) push-pull movements
(i.e.: Chest-Back exercises) usually move blood from one muscle to the
other mitigating lactic acid build-up; (4) however you must be careful
that you don’t overtrain with this method of training. I am listing
the weights below to show that I am lifting in the 80 – 90% of my 1RM
(rep maximum) and that’s no small feat to do within 30 minutes as I
take very little rest in between exercises.
 Super-set Group 1: Chest – Back
Dumbbell Bench: 2 sets: 90X10 reps X 2 sets
Tbar rows: 2 sets: 90 X 20 reps
Super-set Group 2: Chest – Back
Incline Machine Bench: 270 X 10 X 1
Seated Row: 190 X 8 X 2
 Super-set Group 2: Bodyweight Dips – Pullups – 2Sets
That’s it and after I finished the workout believe me I am spent. Now
this part is very important. Immediately after your workout you need
to eat, drink, or both within 30 minutes to 1.5 hours aftward
something with 4:1 Carb to Protein ratio. Why? After a workout is a
critical time for growth and recovery as your cells and hormones
(specifically, Insulin one of the most anabolic hormones in the body)
are most receptive at that time.
Insulin is a hormone central to regulating carbohydrate and fat
metabolism in the body. Insulin causes cells in the liver, muscle, and
fat tissue to take up glucose from the blood, storing it as glycogen
in the liver and muscle.
This is a very important concept that I am not going to talk about
indept here as it is a very extensive topic that deserves much more
than I want to talk about in this workout post. I will revisit the
concept in another post however if you want to know more check out
Nutrient Timing by John Ivy et al.
My stats: Age: 40ish | Weight: 223 | Bodyfat: 26.5% (59lbs) | Lean
Muscle: 164lbs
Benny Jones Jr., Fitness-Weightloss Consultant

If you like Happy Feet-1, Happy Feet-2 lives up to the original and
for a kids movie they sure do pack a lot of symbolism into it and I
not even sure that anyone under the age of 16 will get such as
courage, redemption, love, unity, team work, partnership, faith, hope,
strength and compassion to name a few - go see it with the kids, my
two year old didn't move the entire movie.
From IMDB
Mumble's son, Erik, is struggling to realize his talents in the
Emperor Penguin world. Meanwhile, Mumble and his family and friends
discover a new threat their home -- one that will take everyone
working together to save them.
Director: George Miller
Writers: George Miller, Warren Coleman (co-writer), and 2 more credits »
Stars: Elijah Wood, Robin Williams and Pink
link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1402488/

CNN, Black in America, Black Tech Entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley
Best Quote...Anthony Frasier, "Try not to do the same thing I did last
year" That's it dude keep pushing forward...
Second Best Quote... No Wack Demos (Yes I know there's a store)

The Show...I thought CNN did a good job not slating this as a charity,
hand-out, token, etc., etc. and I think Pius said it best (I am
paraphrasing) when he said you guys are intelligent, successful,
hard-working, entrepreneurs...
On Soledad O'Brien...I have watched other BIA shows and Soledad seemed
to be fishing for something, her tone and body language seemed to be a
bit off putting - something.... Maybe I am reading too much into it...
On Michael Arrington...Okay, wow - I read his blog post prior to
watching the show and he totally did himself a disservice. I am not
going to call him racist because he didn't exhibit that BUT he did
come off arrogant, egotistical, better than, and maybe that was CNN, I
don't know. According to his blog post he knows Black entrepreneurs
and business people so I am not sure why he drew a blank - STRANGE! He
has black folks defending him but I am not sure his actions are
defensible... obviously my opinion, I don't know him personally, maybe
he was nervous...

On Enlightment..The light bulb moment for me in the show was after the
Indian mentor (sorry I forgot his name) said, "I hired a white
pitchman..." That too me was not a stretch but a reality, fake it
until you make it. We shouldn't have to do that but the reality is
different than that those of us who have corporate and highered jobs
no that all to well. When you get funded, capitalized and reach ipo
who cares who the pitchman is/was... Then you do what you want a la
Tyler Perry...

On Entrepreneurship...The MBA in Entrepreneurship will never compare
to the experience of NewME with the direct connections, mentor-ship,
and demo-days, however, the one thing I do remember is that
Entrepreneurs connect people, process, and resources... They don't
build everything from start to finish they get people to believe in
their idea and passion etc... And that led me too to this
suggestion...
The Key...After the enlightening conversation with the Indian
gentlemen, Hank Williams had that Aha moment where he mentioned that
to be successful the NewMe entrepreneurs were going to have to help
each other... Chain is only as strong as it's weakest link so to
speak...The Asians are known for doing this within their community and
that is reaching back to pull up the next one and AA's will
undoubtedly need/have to do more so than any group - I think...

The Answer - maybe...
In my opinion, part of the answer lies in what Michael said which we
all know - EDUCATION!!! There is not enough minorities in the STEM
(Sci-Tech-Eng-Math) pipeline etc etc.

And...While a STEM background maybe the key to a good job in silicon
valley or elsewhere as entrepreneurship goes it maybe the ability to
evangelize, connect, and share your vision, passion, and mission with
others that truly gets you the funding a la Malcom Gladwell's Tipping
Point (Chapter 2: Connectors, Mavens, & Salesmen)

And...So I think funding the NewME accelerator is really the key to
getting more minorities access to Silicon Valley and VC's in general
because the more folk pass through and get that experience,
mentor-ship, connections, etc, etc the better that start-up will do
going forward AND it enhances, improves, the visibility of minority
tech entrepreneurs which presumably will change the mindset of the
valley and VC's in general... Yes, it may be take a couple of years
and by that time there will be a few minority owned start-ups leading
the way and setting the precedent...

Fund NewME and you fund minorty entrepreneurship. I hope you guys are
seeking investment/donations/contributions from HBCU's, Foundations,
and other deep pocket folk/investor/institutions...
On who got funded...
I didn't put in any real analysis into who I thought was going to get
funded but after finding out I was surprised but not surprised... Of
all the startups, I wouldn't have thought BeCouply would have gotten
startup funding as there b-model from what I know doesn't enthrall me.
Keep in mind we didn't get to see or hear all of the pitches in their
entirety. However, after thinking about it further I could see how an
Angel/VC could invest in the startup. Well Pius and his girlfriend
both have excellent educational pedigrees (MIT) and they have solid
real-world experience at one of the premiere consulting agencies in
the US (I forgot the name). Now, I am not sure what ROI there is the
personal relationship space but match.com and eharmony.com seem to be
hanging in there.
KloudCo, was a natural pick as a cloud player as all tech will be in
the cloud at some point or another. KloudCo aims to allow us to
connect and search through our clould apps - Dropbox, Box.net,
Pogoplug etc. Well that will be awesomeness however there's another
startup with a similar idea called dispatch.in that will be competing
if not directly then indirectly.
My pics would have been: KloudCo, Cued, Centrally, and 1oneschool and
you can read about them here
http://www.newmeaccelerator.com/startups/summer-2011-class/
More links...
In America Blogs: http://inamerica.blogs.cnn.com/
New Acclerator: http://www.newmeaccelerator.com/
Wayne Sutton: http://socialwayne.com/2011/11/14/black-in-america-4-silicon-valley-spoiler-a...
Diversity: http://28daysofdiversity.com/
Black Web2.0: http://blackweb20.com/
Brand CampU: http://www.brandcampu.com/

I made the move to the DARK side - Apple. At first I was sorely
disappointed because as you know (or if you don't) their philosophies
are different - Android: modify however you want and Apple: we know
what's best for you; however, after upgrading to iOS5 and getting
iCloud and Notifications, it's starting to grow on me......

Spotfiy; I am loving Blue Sky Black Death right now, although it's
perplexing why they don't have a Facebook page.
