Happy Birthday Cards

These are all made using Crate paper & Bazzill Cardstock. They are sized to fit in a CD envelope & have the pretty part show through the front. I’m sure postmen get tired of delivering junkmail too. Why not send something that would bring a smile to their face too?

I used a super giga mega punch (3”) for the circle, hand drew the scallop. Rubon is basic grey I believe, with a Dymo label.

Fiskars punch on top & bottom, MME letter stickers, rubons are Gen-X.

Fiskars punch again on the top, hand drawn arrow & brackets with ink. I used an old gift card for the middle.

Small circle punch (I’m sure I used my trusty ole Whale of a Punch), not sure who the stamp is. Gen-X rubons again.

Very simple here, just a MAMBI Threads.

This one also very simple, punch for the candle, the stem is handcut. Basic Grey rubon.

This time just a Making Memories embroidered patch

Basic Grey rubons with square punch. Probably used my Creative Memories dual square punch.

Back to the Ginormous 3” circle punch, a bit of ink, and a basic grey rubon.

7Gypsies sticker, with another Basic Grey rubon.

This is a mini-album that I did for my late mom-in-law for her first great-grandchild. Just so many fun, girly things here. Black ribbon is from those “hanging” straps off of an old blouse of mine. Campground Mini Album

This is a book I made about our summer at the campgrounds. So many differnet things used here, lots of media too, paint, modeling paste, as well as the usual. Another mini-album share this week…sorry it’s been so long since I’ve uploaded stuff, just been busy concentrating on other areas of life… This is a mini album I made the boys’ dad, for 008’s first year. Yes, even though we are divorced, I still make him albums of the boys. Not sure what he does with them, but that is his choice. Hope he enjoys them as intended.

I really like these little flip-style books; they are quick to make & fun to look at! I made these for my mom-in-law shortly after I moved back up here. It’s hard to call her my x-MIL as I never stopped thinking of her as a mom & friend. She loved each of her grandkids & great grandkids with such a big heart, she had a wonderful spirit that is missed.

Cute little card I made for a friend of mine who was turning 60. Some scraps of paper from the DCWV Green Stack and part of a flap from a cardboard box. The “stamp” was actually a homemade rub on. Next time I think I will not use it on such textured stock, as the 49 again part bled a bit & was hard to read. But still cute… Hope you enjoy!

Sci Fi Freak Layout

This was a little something I did up to have a layout about myself, it was in response to my daily journaling prompt. Paper was DCWV, flower is Prima, buttons & letters are Paper Studio, journaling Block is BenzillaDesigns, Journal BlockZ (found on my Etsy shop) and some ribbon & a slide mount cut in half. I scanned the magazine covers, then printed out, as they were a bit too big & bulky to include the originals.

I tried something different with the pictures I took of the book. Not sure I like them all combined together like this. I think next time I’ll go back to doing it separately. I had actually forgotten about making this one. It is for my ex-husband, just of him & the boys together.

So I've been hard at work here, but not so fast at getting stuff listed. I just finished listing the last of 4 new products, and relisted a bunch of oldies but goodies out on Etsy. I have been busy pulling out every supply I own & trying to find a home for it, either here or someplace else. I am almost done. A few years back, I lost a dear friend to melanoma. He was the music minister at church and quite possibly the most awesome man I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. While I know he’s finally at home, he’s left behind huge holes in a lot of lives. This For his daughters, I made them each a little keepsake book… His favorite color was orange, his favorite shoes were Chucks, and he was so full of the spirit. His favorite thing to tell you good-bye was “Jesus loves you baby, and so do I”.

Mini album share - Z&B

Z sometimes gets left out a bit on the whole scrapping thing, I suppose it is being the younger, or that fact that I work fulltime now, or something, but I do sometimes feel guilty for the fact his book is smaller or he has no minis of his own. So I made this fir his birthday 2 years ago, when I was laid off…. It’s also weird to see how my studio has changed, but that’s another story….

I generally like 10-12 pictures total for the minis I make, not sure, it just seems to be a goodly number. So here I have them laid out in the order I want them to be.

I then trimmed them to the size I wanted for the book, which was 4x4”. The book is 4x6 made from scrap chipboard I have on hand. I tend to save the backs of paper packs, notepads from work, or anything else that has the natural, non-bleached color. If you are concerned about acid, spray them first. I do not. So here you see my stack of chip and the trimmed photos, still in order.

I used coordinating paper from a DCWV stack, the text paper has “friends” words on them and liked that since this book is about them growing together as brothers.

I tend to be somewhat methodical about how I put everything together. Here you can see I have the photos on the paper that will be that page, and I’ve started to go through and decide what embellishments I want to use for each page & have laid them out accordingly. Notice nothing is adhered down, in case I change my mind. Sometimes I make my own, which is what I’m doing here, I wanted a star & I didn’t have one, so I made it & then covered it with patterned paper. I find it easier to embellish each page prior to adhering it to the actual page in the book. I can see the flow better & it allows for no prongs sticking out….

Once I do start adhering to the pages, I find using a brayer or some sort of roller really helps squash down the adhesive to get a firm grip. In this case, I know he’s pretty rough on stuff so it’s a bit more important.

I did sand the edges of the pages. For this I just have a foam sanding block that I use. I like it because it will fit to the contours. I just keep wrapping new sandpaper around it as I need to. A glue dot will keep it together. Also nice because I can adjust the grit as necessary. This is the cover, and you can see my practice journaling in the background too.

The last step is to punch the pages & bind it all together. These things do have a thickness maximum so sometimes I have to do the picture page separate from the core page. And then in this case I just used a scrap of a binder I kind of like the incomplete look.

Altered Letters

This papier-mâché letters I found at Jo Ann’s, they are kraft colored and about 24” tall and just begging to be altered. The M I did after I moved back home, but the R below I did while the ex & I were still together for our mantel. The stamping didn’t quite turn out as dark as I wanted so I went back over it with a sharpie & then put another coat of mod podge on it. I also did a J for a friend, but I can’t find the picture of it now…

The B is just of all the nametags & whatnots he’d collected from all of his meetings & events. I left the straps as I thought they were cool. I also had some leftover badge holders that I thought would be cool to stick some pictures in.

A clipboard I made for my youngest a few years back. It is perfect in the car when he wants to write or draw, or the occasional trip into church. Ben has one as well. Very simple & easy to make. The front just has the patterned paper so that it makes a good writing surface. Paper is MME, sticker is Pebbles, Inc. Freehand writing with a sharpie for his name. All of it is covered with generous layers of mod podge. You can see I had some trouble with wrinkling & bubbling. With the thinner paper you really need to be careful with you application of the mod. I’ve found I actually like the heavier weight paper (not quite stock weight) best.
