Apple has been dominating the Smartphone market since it released the original iPhone in 2007. Millions of consumers chose the said brand over its competitors and has set the bar for the competition. It drawn millions of sales and has revolutionized in the Smartphone industry. From the first iPhone to iPhone 4, Apple has done a great job in giving pleasure to its users. This year, Apple is bringing the new iPhone 5 into the table. Is it better and thinner? Let’s figure out on this iPhone 5 review!

Build and Design

iPhone 5 is quite similar to iPhone 4S to the point of not being able to identify which is which from a distance. Their shapes are similar and the latest model from Apple also comes with a metal band alongside the edges and with rounded corners. But all the similarities end there.

If iPhone 4S is thin, light and comfortable to hold, iPhone 5 is thinner, lighter and even more comfortable. The device simply feels good to hold. It only weighs 3.9oz and is taller than its predecessor with its 4.9 x 2.3 x 0.3 inches dimension. Its size is comfy enough even for a one hand use which you cannot feel in its competitors.

Another good thing is, its 3.5 headphone port is placed at the bottom of the Smartphone which is akin to the iPod touch. Thus, while iPhone 5 is not really perfect in terms of physical appearance, it is a sleek and gorgeous phone worth spending for.

Performance

What sets Apple apart from its competitors is its ability to deliver fast performance and iPhone 5 is no exception. The newest Smartphone in town is faster than iPhone 4S and with better battery life. Its graphics performance is even superb. All these are powered by the latest A6 processor.

While you cannot really notice an improvement in speed on applications that don’t require processor speed, Twitter and Facebook for instance, iPhone 5 has an edge over 4S when it comes to running Maps in 3D. iPhone 5 is relatively faster and performs without lags.

Maps

Fine! Apple Maps is still a disappointment, but the giant company has make up for it by making Google Maps downloadable to all iPhones and iPads. It brings all the features that users will surely love especially with the new addition of turn-by-turn navigations. Though a new interface has been introduced, the said app is easy to use.

On top of the map, users can see a search bar where you can find almost everything. Google Maps performs smoother and faster in iPhone 5 making your search for a location very fast and easy. More so, the 3D Flyover Mode is so wonderful. In the essence, Apple delivers the best map app thus far.

Email

As always, Apple remains one of the best providers of smartphones with best email clients. It still offer a simple and organized email clients but with the newly VIP box. With iPhone 5, you will know when a person you mark as VIP sends an email. It will appear as a pop-up notification and will be placed under the VIP inbox.

Siri

Siri, known as a voice-recognition system, delivers a new improvement this year. It now responds faster with more accurate data searching and speech recognition. You can already use it in posting updates in Twitter and Facebook. With Siri, you can also get facts on sports statistics and updates when your favorite team is playing.

Passbook

Apple’s Passbook allows you to have a virtual wallet. It helps you collect and organized digital tickets and coupons. Though it is still considered incomplete, many companies are now working with it including airports such as Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines, United Airlines and Lufthansa. When you checked-in over the internet, your boarding pass can be sent to your Passbook, so long your departure airport uses the said technology. Your boarding pass will be sent in an e-mail as attachment.

Cameras

Like its predecessors, iPhone 5 has an amazing camera. Even with its thinner body, it takes excellent and sharp photos. With its iOS 6, users can take panoramic pictures. It can even direct you in panning the cross ways of a large view and can stitch pictures to 30 megapixels. In terms of videos, iPhone 5 is awesome as well. It can record videos at 1080p resolution.

Additionally, the front-facing camera of iPhone 5 was upgraded from the earlier VGA cameras and was named the FaceTime camera. When taking self-portraits or video chatting, your face can be seen in a higher detail.

The bottom line

While some people said that iPhone 5 is not as ground-breaking as it should be, there is nothing wrong with the said smartphone. It is the best mobile device Apple has ever released. It is worth spending for especially with the upgrades the giant company has made, not to mention all the great features it possess. Besides, what more can you expect when Apple has already provided the best and has achieved what users need and anticipate? They are just upgrading to make things easier and more luxurious for us. Many people agree that the Xbox one could have had better reception. The fact however is that the console business is getting tighter even with the re4lease of the PS4. The idea behind the console was having one machine that dominates all your TV external device needs right form network gaming to playing the next generation games. The console is a movie player, Skype video caller, live TV and music player. This was received by many critics and praises from the gaming fraternity with various views. This is what you may call your entertainment in a box. The PS3 and the Xbox 360 already had enough multifunctional features. We all knew that this was to happen at some point anyway. PS and Xbox had planned on it. This was just a matter of time with consoles able to out date DVD players, decoders, internet routers and many other gadgets in the home. This may have the advantage of clearing up the space under the TV the question however is how does it perform with all these functions?

There is no much difference for the gamers as many reviews go, but this is a giant step for the TV users. This was a move in the bid to combine a gamers needs as they play away from the phone and the computer. A good attempt though. The affordability of Wii U, the PS4, Nintendo, Tablets and the Smartphone is a cost many may not be able to meet. This was perhaps the reason why this was put in one box to make the purchase easier. Xbox one comes with a Wii motion plus controller, a Nintendo ds charger and many other components like Wii motion pluscontroller which make it clear that the machine is a combination of many techs that one would otherwise have bought separately.

The disappointment registered by the gamers about the Xbox may not be fully warranted. Microsoft has also stated that their next production was about gaming and services. Seemingly that they kept their word, gamers can only wait upon the E3 gaming promise. Microsoft promises to produce a machine that is all about gaming ad nothing else but gaming for the fans. The size of the machine was not expected too. It is bulky but could be explained by the functionality it carries. It is a good thing that it does what all the gadgets under the TV should do.

The excitement is however far from over for the Xbox one. With the features providing an easy time for the TV viewers, others are not so impressed. The reason for this is that TV is going down the live TV lane either way. This means that this should not have been the main focus of the company as live TV is already a component in the current TV designs; channels like Netflix and Hulu being some of the main features.

The console however has provided a new feature in the home where everyone can a have a piece of it. This may be curse in disguise where the multiple uses will create a major divide n the home. It is however still too early to write off the functionality in the home.

The Film Overview

July 11, 2013 is the most awaited date by millions of Del Toro aficionados as it will be the time his latest movie, Pacific Rim, will be launched. This sci-fi movie is directed by Del Toro and was written by Travis Beacham. It has a $200 million film budget making it one of the biggest movies of the year and probably the best summer film of 2013.

The story of this sci-fi movie is about two separate worlds: the earth and the “Antiverse”. The conflict started when an alien attack jeopardizes the world’s existence. This assault is composed of a legion of monstrous creatures named as “Kaiju”. When Kaijus arise from the sea in Osaka, Japan, the earth has always been experiencing wars, resulting to multiple casualties to both human lives and their resources.

To battle against these alien villains, the human race has to do something. They create a special type of weapon in the form of gigantic robots called “Jaegers” that will need two simultaneous pilots for control. The pilots’ minds are locked in a neutral bridge.

However, this massive robot machines seem to be defenseless against the unyielding villains. Facing on the edge of defeat, mankind has no other option but to activate their abandoned former pilot and an inexperience trainee to be their unlikely heroes. They are played by Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuch. The two are teamed up to take over in this epic battle and drive the seemingly archaic Jaeger making them the last hope to solve this dilemma.

It almost took 12 years for Disney/Pixar to get a sequel of the 2001’s hit movie “Monsters Inc.” But on June 21, 2013, we will finally see the sequel entitled Monster University that would certainly make huge box office numbers.

Monster University Overview

The movie is directed by Dan Scanlon and this time around he replaced not just one, not two but three of the credited directors from the original film and the producer is Kori Rae. Voice talents are John Goodman (Sully), Billy Crystal (Mike), Steve Buscemi (Randall Boggs), Julia Sweeney (TBA), Dave Foley (TBA), Peter Sohn (TBA) and Joel Murray (Don Carlson).

The story revolves around two inseparable monsters, James P. Sullivan and Mike Wazowski. However, that wasn't always the case because before these cuddly scare experts become scream refinery top producers, they had to learn the ropes at college and they were used to be feudal college roommates.

In Monster University, it will take us of how these two overcome their differences and became the best of friends. Here are some stories that will be shed light or otherwise known as Monster University Spoiler.

Minor Monster University Spoilers Ahead

Monster University isn't just about life on the dormitory. It will take you into the raucous monster fraternity situation as well. It all started when Mike and Sully got kicked out from scare program at the University where they need to set aside their rivalry and team-up for them to get back into the program.

Moreover, the only way for them to get back is to join a fraternity known as Oozma Kappa and to compete in The Scare Games. Alas, this “okay” frat is far from being “okay”. In the raise against other Fraternities such as The House Bunny and Revenge of the Nerds, Sully and Mike soon discovered that the frat they joined is for the castaway monsters.

These castaways include Don Carlton, a middle-aged monster, Terri and Terry the Siamese monsters twins and Art, and Squishy, the Ubiquitous dorm stoner. These un-cool monsters dubbed their frat house living room as the “Party Central” which isn't really true.

Sully and Mike are not very pleased with their new frat brothers and realized that it was basically up to them if they want Oozma Kappa to join the Scare Games. When they are about to hit the hay, Mike and Sully heard strange noises coming from the basement, and so off they investigate.

They had discovered that their frat brothers were on the process of a creepy initiation ritual, dressed with cloaks and with carried candlelight. However, it was quickly interrupted because the lights were turned on revealing the basement to be a laundry room.

Fans from all over the world are waiting for June 14, 2013, when Man of Steel will be released. This superhero movie is produced by Christopher Nolan, scripted by David Goyer, and directed by Zach Snyder. This is basically a remake of the Superman movie series which is based on DC Comics’ Superman. Moreover, Brandon Routh took off the cape as this time Henry Cavill portrays Clark Kent/ Superman. The Hobbit : An unexpected journey

The story is set in the middle-earth and mainly evolves on the journey of a curious young Hobbit named Bilbo. The journey starts when Gandalf, a wandering wizard introduces Bilbo to a company of thirteen dwarves. He tricks Bilbo into hosting a party for Thorin, the proud, arrogant head of the company of dwarves who reclaims the Lonely Mountain and its vast treasure from the dragon Smaug who sleeps upon it. Gandalf reveals them a map showing a secret door into the Mountain and suggests Bilbo as the quest’s "burglar". Thedwarves laugh at the idea and Bilbo was offended that leads him to join the quest.

The group travels into the wild, where Gandalf saves the company from trolls and leads them to Rivendell, where it’s master and the sage Elrond who becomes their friend reveals more secrets from the map. As they passed over the Misty Mountains, they are trapped by goblins and driven deep underground and Bilbo gets separated from the others as they escape the goblins. Lost in the goblin tunnels, where he founds a ring and encounters Gollum, a wretched, hobbit-like creature inhabiting an underground lake who engages him in a game of riddles. As a reward for solving all riddles Gollum will show him the path out of the tunnels, but if Bilbo fails, his life will be the penalty. With the help of the ring, which grants invisibility, Bilbo escapes and rejoins the dwarves, improving his reputation with them. They rest in the house of Beorn, a man who can assume a bear form, after being chased by the goblins and Wargs and being saved by the eagles.

The company comes into the black forest of Mirkwood without Gandalf. In Mirkwood, Bilbo first saves the dwarves from giant spiders and then from the dungeons of the Wood-elves. Then, they are welcomed by the human inhabitants of Lake-town, who wish the dwarves will fulfill prophecies of Smaug's end. In the Lonely Mountain they find the secret door; Bilbo explores the dragon's lair, stealing a great cup and learning of a weakness in Smaug's armour. The infuriated dragon plans to destroy the Lake-Town as he presumes thatthe people living there help the intruders. A noble thrush who overheard Bilbo's reports of Smaug's vulnerability informs it to Bard, a grim but honorable archer of Lake-town who eventually slays the dragon.

When, at last the dwarves take possession of the mountain, Bilbo finds the Arkenstone, an heirloom of Thorin's dynasty, and steals it. The Wood-elves and Lake-men surround themountain and request reward for their help, reparation for Lake-town's destruction, and settlement of old claims on the treasure but Thorin refuses. He summoned his kin from themountains of the North as he reinforces his position. Bilbo tries to pay off the Arkenstone to head off a war, but Thorin is stubborn. He casts out Bilbo, and battle seems expected.

Gandalf reappears to warn all of an approaching army of goblins and Wargs. The dwarves, men, and elves group together, but only with the timely arrival of the eagles and Beorn do they win the climactic Battle of Five Armies. Thorin is seriously wounded and reconciles with Bilbo before he dies. In the end, Bilbo accepts only a small portion of his share of thetreasure, having no need for more, but still returns home a very wealthy hobbit. And this ends the quest of unexpected journey.
