Wedding & Wine

A wedding plus wine is already a good time...but having them both at a winery with a beautiful view is even better. I went to a lovely wedding at David Girard's winery this weekend. It's a local winery in Placerville. The ceremony/reception was perfect and the weather was wonderful. My little sister was the Maid of Honor and she did a fantastic job. The bride was beautiful and I FINALLY met the groom after hearing about him for 9 years. Congrats Amanda and Josh!

Little Terror

This is my parents' "Little Terror" aka Lady. (I found her a few years ago at the dog park.) She is 95lbs of dog. She is an American bull dog/boxer mix. Lady is a work in progress.....eats everything and anything.

Foot Bridge to Where?

We came across this little foot bridge on our hike in Juneau, Alaska. We didn't really know where the trail was going to lead us. We were just hoping it would take us back where we came from and also hoped we didn't come across any hungry bears.

Going back to Alaska in September. Hoping for more good pictures.

Well....I'm back! It's been about 3 months or so. I plan on taking more pictures and doing a lot more posting.

Here a picture to start the new season.....Tulips at the Zoo. Went to the Sacramento Zoo this past weekend. It's no San Diego Zoo, but it passed the time. The zoo was pretty crowded for not having much. I would definitely recommend going there for a family outing.....but I wouldn't bring a date there.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

This is a picture of the START LINE for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday morning, October 19, 2008. The picture isn't the greatest (the sun wasn't working with me), but it captures a great event and a local spot!

This year is our 6th year doing this event. The new team name has been changed to "Keepin' 2nd Base Safe!" The team outcome for walking wasn't the greatest this year, but I thank everyone who came and/or contributed to the wonderful cause. Next year we will do better on the attendance.

Spanish Pathway

I gave this picture to my friend, Justin, for his birthday last year. He's even named the picture. I forgot what he named it though (I would have used it as a title).

This is a pictures of some step in Parc Guell in Barcelona, Spain. I took this picture on July 4, 2002. Antoni Gaudí is the famous Architect of the park's features. Gaudí designed the pathway using local stone in its natural form and integrated it into the landscape. Another one of Gaudí's well known buildings is Sagrada Família also in Barcelona, Spain.

I remember the day we (me and Amy) went there......it was a little gloomy and overcast that day. We were both a little home sick, being 4th of July and all. The dang park was on top of a hill (which felt like a mountain at the time). To get to the park we had to climb lots of stairs and up the hill. But.....the trek was worth it. The view from the top was amazing. You had a beautiful view of Barcelona all the way to the Mediterranean Sea. If you are ever in the area, it's definitely a place worth visiting....plus....it was FREE!

Trinity Church

I took this picture on my way to Wall Street in New York. This is a picture of Trinity Church on Broadway and Wall Street in downtown Manhattan. When I went by the church I remember learning about it in my History of Architecture class. In the class we needed to remember building names, location, architect, type of architecture and history of the structure. I was pretty amazed what I did remember (which wasn't much). I remembered the name of the church and the architect's last name...which was "Upjohn". You don't want to know how I remembered that...it's not that kind of blog. The structure is an example of Gothic Revival architecture.

I still remember the eerie feeling walking in downtown Manhattan (at the time it was 5 years after 9/11). It was just neat to look up at the building and see the American flag right next to it. So....I took the shot. I read that on 9/11, a giant sycamore tree that had stood for almost a century in the churchyard of the church was knocked over from the debris of the World Trade Center. The roots of the were used for the base of a bronze structure outside the church. (I learned that on Wikipedia.) A picture of that structure is soon to come.

A City Landmark

This is a picture I snapped coming into San Francisco on our cruise ship. I took this around 6 am on a Monday morning. I thought it was a really cool sight. You really don't get to enjoy the view of Alcatraz too much. There is always fog blocking the view.....well at least whenever I go an see it.

A Memorial to Remember

I took this picture in May 2006 (Washington DC and NY trip). Probably about a billion people have taken this shot.

The Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall is dedicated to honor those who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. I just can't describe the feelings you feel when you are looking at the wall in person. I don't personally know anyone who died in the Vietnam war, but visiting the wall was still a very emotional experience. Pictures just don't give it justice.

Streets of San Sebastian

This is an oldie but goodie one for me. One of my favorites. I took this in June of 2002 in San Sebastian, Spain. A friend and I backpacked through Europe after graduating college. I couldn't tell you the name of the street, but the street caught my eye with all the brick work, buildings and TREES. This was taken late morning in the middle of the week.

This city had one of the best beaches (La Concha Bay). It was actually my first "European Beach" experience. Yes....that means naked boobs and speedos!!

It is a quite city with a warm and cozy feeling about it. Though the french fries are HORRIBLE, the people there were friendly and the sunsets were gorgeous.

This picture was taken with my 35mm black/white camera and scanned for your viewing pleasure.

Exploring Ketchikan

This is a picture taken during my 10-day Alaska Cruise. Ketchikan, Alaska was our first Alaska stop.

Ketchikan is the 5^th largest city in Alaska. This picture is looking down Creek Street. The Ketchikan Creek runs through the town. Salmon is known to travel up the creek during spawning season to lay their eggs.

This area was formerly Ketchikan’s infamous red-light district. The bright green building (shown in the picture) is known as Dolly’s House (a famous brothel). It is now a museum with original furnishings and a history the town’s famous madam.

Ketchikan is a beautiful town and I strongly suggest visiting it if you have a chance. I just wished I had a little longer to explore the town. We only had 5-6 hours or so.

Hi! I'm Bernadette! I'm 29 years old and reside in Folsom, CA. A friend of mine suggested I start a blog for my photography and post something with maybe a little story behind my picture. I thought it was a great idea (minus the initial set up of the blog itself). I am by far no professional photographer. I am an amateur who does it for fun.
