Energetic Jeff
Jeff was a little perky today, as if he'd actually tried some coffee. The big question on Jeff's mind is whether or not to have wine at the wedding? I'm all for it, I won't come if there's no booze, I think Zeb is all for it too (NOT).

The Return of Zeb
Zeb came back to us and was as lovely as ever.

Dale Says No
Randy asked Dale a lot of questions but Dale kept replying "no." He's not a big volunteer other than every 3rd Sunday AM. Dale also says "no" to his old job and started working at a new place.

Aaron in Monterrey
Aaron apparently went down to Mexico but didn't collect things for the Merrill Monterrey Mission. I'm just messing with you Aaron, I just couldn't pass up another opportunity to post a link to my brother's site, which is here by the way.

Zeb Sighting

Zeb
Whilst I was pitching for the Marlins, my wife wondered over to the other softball field and found old Zeb sitting there with his boy. As it turns out, Zeb missed Berts for a good reason. It was definitely a higher priority (family related). All I'll say here is just that we need to keep old boy (and the family) in our prayers.

Sadly, Jeff's stacked power plant team beat Aaron and Dale's family/Whirlpool team by 1 lousy point. Moreover, one of Jeff's ringers hit Dale with a nasty line. Usually I catch'em with my cat-like reflexes working at full matrix-like speed, but this time I was too slow and got nailed just above the knee. My feelings are hurt, but I think I'll live.

2006.05.31 - Poor Attendance
My 2006.05.24 entry, boasting about a booming 5 in attendance on the 24th was followed up by a poor showing on the 31st. We're hoping to rebound this week on June 7th.

Things Were Not Good in Dale's Belly
I remember, in detail, what I had on the 24th because I felt kind of queezy all day. I realize now that I should not be ordering Hungry Mountains. I don't think I'm man enough to contain it; to isolate it and control it; inside my belly. It affected my whole body; my equilibrium. So, I vow, from this day forward, I will refrain from eating Hungry Mountains. I'm not saying they aren't good; no, far from it, they are good (so good), but maybe they're not so good for me.

The Invisible Zeb
Something must be wrong because Zeb missed a Bert's and did not call for a Bert's makeup session. Could it be, that Zeb no longer needs Bert's fellowship? NO! "Father God, never let that happen; Please make Zeb love Bert's forever!" -- Amen.

I'm betting things are fairly busy at home with that new zeb-like baby girl. Zeb's a man that understands priority, and I'm sure he missed for a good reason.

5 Bertaholics?
That's right, there were 5 of us today. When a new guy comes in two weeks in a row, chances are, they're hooked. Now, when ole Lex came for one week, that was it. He couldn't take it, but it looks like Randy is in. So, a "good job" goes out to Zeb & Jeff for recruiting a new member.

A Congratulations In Order

Contratulations to Zeb! Zeb became a Dad (again) on Thursday morning. Zeb and his family welcome a sweet little baby girl to this world. May God Bless them for a lifetime.

Guess Who's "Spearheading" FCOG's New Website?
That's right, it's Randy. And, he's pretty excited about it. Looks like they're going with a nice portal / content management product called SiteWrench. I think their website is here. I think this is a good approach; because a portal product will provide a lot of out-of-the-box functionality and it can be managed and changed by non-programmers.

Back Packing Is On!
Both Aaron and Jeff are talking August backpacking trips to North Manitou. Hopefully they can respond to this blog with details. The church has some gear, which is very helpful if you know anything about backpacking.

The Beer Mirror
The Schlitz mirror Dale found in his closet and donated to the church garage sale ended up being snaged by Alex and is now sitting somewhere in the attic.

What Happened to Carl?
Carl was suppose to be at Bert's this morning but failed to show. We even sat at the big table. Come on Carl; what's up?

A Missing Zeb
Zeb had good reason to not show this morning. He is most likely at the hospital where his wife is having a baby! Congratulations in advance Zeb.

Software We Mentioned
Somehow, screen/video capturing tools came up.

RoboDemo
Aaron mentioned a $20 tool called RoboDemo. This apparently has been acquired by Adobe and renamed "Captivate." Oh, and it looks to be around $400 now. The website for that is here.

Wink
Dale just came across a freeware tool for this called Wink. You can find that here. Dale has only used it for a day but found it to be pretty awesome (especially considering the $0.00 price tag).

Other WebSites Dale is Promoting for Some Reason
GMail - clearly the best online email (with the fewest and most unobtrusive ads)
Pandora - a really neat customizable radio station using a real neat Music Genome concept.
PodZinger - a place to search on podcasts that uses some incredible technology to index audio.

Jeff comes at 7:50
Jeff came to Bert's really late because he's on a crazy shift at work. He had actually been up all night. Now usually, Jeff comes in very somber in the morning, and he doesn't really say anything. But, when he's been up for 10 hours, he's actually an entirely different person. I don't know if you've ever screwed him over and been on the receiving end of one of his nasty emails, but if you have, well, that's kind of the way he is when he comes in after working all night. In a word, I'd call it brash. It's really kind of neat, because it feels like an alternate universe; one where Jeff is a bad ass.

There used to be some contraversy here in this first post. I decided to strike it from history, as it gave the whole site a bad vibe. I want to keep this site free of contreversy; and focus on celebrating that which is most dear to my heart; Bert's Breakfast men's-fellowship.
