All interested parents are invited to our Kindergarten Open house on February 11, 2016 from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm.

Bessie Nichols School will begin accepting Kindergarten registrations for the 2016-2017 school year on February 2, 2016. When applying for Kindergarten, please indicate your preference for morning or afternoon Kindergarten. Although consideration is given to your preference, on April 15, 2016 if we are unable to accommodate these requests a random selection process will be used to ensure balanced class sizes which may result in a placement other than your preference. 

To register you will need to complete a district registration form. Information on how to register a child who is new to the district is available here: Kindergarten Registration

Step 1: Download the Student Registration form from the link above.

Step 2: Fill out the forms, indicate your preference for morning or afternoon classes (on the top of the document), print and sign in the designated area(s).

Step 3: Bring the completed forms to Bessie Nichols School to register, along with appropriate documentation required to complete your registration:

Verification of legal name and age (usually a birth certificate) 

• Confirmation of address for the student's parent or legal guardian (driver's license, utility bill). A minimum of two documents are required.

• In some cases, immigration documents may also be required, such as landed immigrant documentation or a Permanent Residency Card

A parent or guardian needs to present some legal proof of the child's name, citizenship and birth date the first time that the child registers in a school or kindergarten. The following is a list of vital statistics documents that are deemed acceptable for this purpose: 

• Canadian Birth Certificate

• Canadian Citizenship Certificate

• Canadian Adoption Certificate

• Passport

• Visa

• Permanent Landed Immigrant/Residence Document

Kindergarten is not funded as a full day program by the province. Bessie Nichols School only offers half-day kindergarten programming. Usually, schools that are able to offer full day kindergarten will have received a special allocation based upon the needs of their community. Bessie Nichols is not anticipated to receive any additional kindergarten funding and as a result will not offer full day kindergarten.

There is no Yellow Bus service to Bessie Nichols School.
