Just before I wrote this article about this iPhone DSLR lens adapter I have to admit I did need to check if it was indeed April 1st, as it does seem to good to be true. However a new adapter is currently on sale at the Photojojo website which enables you to use any DSLR lens from either Nikon or Canon with your iPhone.

The new adapter allows any DSLR lens to be attached to your iPhone, whether it be a Telephoto, wide angle, macro, or your fixed fifty lenses and then enables you custom control over the depth of field and manual focus.

The iPhone DSLR lens adapter even comes with two loopholes on each end of the case let you tie on a camera strap, so you can hang it around your neck just like your real DSLR.

The new iPhone DSLR lens adapter is now available to purchase for $190 for either the Nikon or Canon version from the Photojojo website.

Pentax Q is the World’s Smallest and Lightest Interchangeable Lens Camera

Pentax introduces its Q, the world’s smallest and lightest interchangeable lens camera that is pocketable and even fits in your palm. The camera uses the newly designed PENTAX Q-mount lens system for convenient interchangeability with a variety of specialty Q lenses including prime, zoom, fish-eye and more.

The Pentax Q is equipped with a 12.4 Megapixel backlit 1/2.3-inch CMOS image sensor, capable of producing 12 bit DNG RAW and JPG images. The camera features ISO 125-6400, sensor-shift shake reduction, traditional DSLR shooting modes such as Program, Aperture/Shutter Priority, and Metered Manual exposure control, Bokeh Control Filter and Smart Effects Mode. Pentax Q is able to record 1080 Full HD camera at 30fps and offers In-camera HDR capture mode that shoots 3 images of varying exposures, blending them to bring out the details in even the darkest shadows and brightest highlights of extreme contrast shots. It includes the DRII (Dust Removal II) mechanism to help reduce annoying dust spots from spoiling captured images

A dark shadow has befallen the Sony NEX-3 interchangeable lens camera, the shadow of being described as "no longer in production" by its maker's official website. Coming out in June of last year alongside its more celebrated NEX-5 brother, the NEX-3 enjoyed some decent success with critics, mostly owing to its oversized 14.2 megapixel sensor, and showed no signs of struggling commercially, however Sony has seen fit to halt production within eight months of its introduction. Reasons haven't yet been given, though we imagine people were willing to spend the extra cash to upgrade to 1080p video recording and a magnesium alloy body on the NEX-5, which is what rendered the NEX-3 expendable. At least we know the NEX-5 and the NEX-VG10 will keep E-mount lenses going into the future, so current NEX-3 owners should have little to worry about. If anything, their camera just became that extra bit more exclusive.
Sigma has announced its latest bank-breaking compact camera - the £600 DP2x.

Boasting a Foveon X3 image sensor (20.7mm x 13.8mm) that is approximately "seven to twelve times larger" than the sensors used in ordinary compact digital cameras (with a pixel size of 7.8μm) this is no simple point and shooter.

This retro looking snapper comes in at 14-mepapixels and sports a 24.2mm f/2.8 lens, delivering a focal length equivalent to 41mm in a 35mm SLR camera.

On the back it has a 2.5-iinch TFT LCD monitor, it can shoot in RAW data mode and also has an Analogue Front End (AFE) and high speed autofocus, which should help you grab quicker images and shoot in a multitude of varying environments.

If you're not happy with the built in flash you can use the optional EF-140 DG external flashgun or any of Sigma SD series electronic flashguns such as the EF-610 DG SUPER or the EF-610 DG ST. You can also use the hot shoe to attach the VF-21 high performance view finder.

Movie shooting isn't the greatest quality at QVGA (320x240) but you're likely to be a serious photographer if you're in for the DP2x rather than someone looking to get some good footage on YouTube.

No date has yet been revealed for the release, although we're told it will cost around the £600 mark.

Casio Exilim EX-ZR100 Digicam with 12.5x Optical Zoom

Casio announced the new Exilim EX-ZR100 digital camera with 12.5x optical zoom. As the older brother to the EX-ZR10, the new model offers more advanced features. The ZR100 features a 12.1 Megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor and a 12.5x optical zoom lens with 24mm wide angle. With Multi Frame SR Zoom technology, the ZR100 is able to offer a 25x optical zoom range.

The camera offers a 40fps high-speed burst shooting speed and can record fast-action events at a maximum speed of 1,000fps (224×64) for slow-motion playback. It includes CMOS-shift image stabilization for blur-free images, HDR function to capture high dynamic range images, Slide Panorama to capture 360-degree images, and the HDR-ART technology for users to create beautifully artistic photographs. The ZR100 supports Full HD 1080p video recording and offers users the ability leverage the camera’s full optical zoom and capture digital still images with high-speed burst shooting (10 megapixel), all while recording video.
Some interchangeable lens standards have been around for ages. Others, however, are rather more modern contrivances, and Sony's E-mount definitely falls in that latter category. We've seen it hit HD camcorders as well as the NEX-3 and NEX-5 compacts, but so far the greatest selections of lenses we've yet seen has come courtesy of a simple adapter. Sony wants that to change, releasing the "basic" specifications for its E-mount interchangeable lens system and doing so for free, a move that lens makers like Carl Zeiss and Sigma have all lauded -- though none went so far as to say they'd actually start making this particular flavor of glass. Oh, and the specs for the NEX-5 Lego viewfinder? Still totally free.
As CES 2011 is coming, Samsung has just made a pre-CES announcement about its new HMX-Q10 affordable Full HD digital camcorder.
The Samsung HMX-Q10 features a 5 Megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, Schneider-Kreuznach Varioplan-HD F1.8 10x optical zoom lens, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) Duo system, and a 2.7-inch touchscreen LCD with 2D S-Motion graphics UI. It records 1920×1080 60i Full HD video and 4.6 Megapixel still images. The camcorder offers face detection, Smart Auto mode, auto focus, and HD Time Lapse recording features as well.
The DSLR market just seems to keep on speeding up, and it looks like Olympus might be lagging back toward the caboose a bit with its latest full-body DSLR, the E-5. It's the successor to the E-3, jumping to 12.3 megapixels and adding 720p recording with full exposure controls, plus a handy swiveling LCD. But, according to reviews, it just doesn't quite compare to something like a much cheaper Nikon D7000. PhotographyBlog liked the improved image quality and the rugged build, but not the ugly rolling shutter effect in video recording and the poor high ISO performance. Similarly DigitalCameraReview says this $1,699 beast "feels like a modest update to the E-3," a sentiment shared by Pocket-Lint as well. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Amnesia? Alzheimer’s? Memory Loss? Bad hangover? Suffer no more once you hang this ViCon Motion Systems built camera around your neck.

Originally an initiative by Mircosoft with the help of university researchers, the Sensecam is a mini-recorder meant to help people suffering from short term memory loss. Now that the technology has become market ready, production has been licensed to ViCon Motion, who will build a multitude of these 94gram gadgets that have 2GB of memory.

Renamed the ViCon Revue, the wide angle lens on the automatic recorder takes three photos every minute which is then transferred to a PC with the requisite software via mini-USB. Though the target market for this gadget are the elderly, we imagine the ViCon Revue becoming a must-have accessory for narcissists of every stripe—you know, the kind of people who post nonstop about their mundane existence on Twitter?

Beyond narcissists, the ViCon Revue also appears doomed to become the tool of an introspective artist who wants to do Andy Warhol one better by recording several years of their life on this thing and making a movie from it.

Last, the ViCon Revue is also great for parties. If you wake up the next morning clueless as to what exactly transpired the night before, your ViCon Revue was taking pictures the whole time.

Iain Sinclair, creator of the Cardsharp knife has designed and is currently in the development, production stage of releasing a remarkably thin 14 megapixel camera called the Poco Pro.

The Poco Pro camera has a magnesium chassis measuring just 85.5 x 54 x 5 mm and weighs in at just 65 g. Its equipped with a 14.6 megapixel autofocus CMOS sensor, 2-axis gyro controller and 2.4 inch AMOLED 240 x 320 pixel (QVGA) display.

It also features DSLR style manual shooting controls such as mechanical shutter, continuous variable aperture and even has a built-in piezo speaker, twin microphones fitted with noise cancellation and a 3.5 mm jack.

The Poco Pro comes with 4GB of internal storage, that can be expanded via microSD cards up to 32GB and also has an optional microSD Wi-Fi card available for wireless transmission of images and video directly to your PC. Its amazing how Sinclair has been fitted everything into such a small footprint.

You can currently pre-order the Poco Pro camera directly from Iain Sinclair who plans to ship his ultra slim camera in June 2011 for around $307
