British Military Fitness (BMF) has released an iPhone app titled “British Military Fitness: My Fitness Instructor,” which is the users way of taking the famed BMF program with them wherever they want. Upon initially installing the app, you get the sense that you are in for some hardcore workouts that are going to get you in shape and feeling good about yourself.

Probably the nicest aspect of the entire program is that you can choose to do your workout wherever you please. With just a simple app in your iPhone, workouts can be done at your house, at the gym, or even on a sunny day in your local park. There are three different settings that you have to initialize in order to the workout started. You input the length of the workout, the intensity of the workout, and what type of workout you want to do. The app allows you to workout individual muscle groups or your entire body through cardiovascular exercises. If you’re really feeling upbeat and healthy, the app can take you through an entire 2-hour session of non-stop, fat burning workouts.

One of the nice aspects (or not so nice, depending on your point of view) is the presence of a countdown clock that is running while you do your workout. This allows you to see just how many more minutes of BMF instructor “encouragement” you have to go through. You can even hook up your headphones to your iPhone to listen to the instructor give his commands directly into your ear canal. Additionally, there are visual demonstrations by the instructor in case you are unsure of how to perform a particular exercise. It is purported that mixing and matching the different intensity levels, style of workout, and length of time leads you to over 5,000,000 different workout combinations, which should cover the user for the rest of their adult life.

There are also various tests provided throughout the process that allow you to track how you are performing from week to week. By running the same tests over and over, you will begin to see marked improvement over the course of your workout schedule.

“British Military Fitness: My Fitness Instructor” is truly a revolutionary iPhone app in that you have your own personal trainer right in front of you, at a fraction of the cost that you would normally pay a trainer. BMF has simply outdone themselves with this app, which should stand the test of time as the premier workout application for the iPhone.
