Best Backpack for School: Scooby 12 5in Backpack Machine Backpack

If you have an independent little wanderer, like I do, this safety harness backpack is a lifesaver. It keeps her from darting into streets or wandering off when my attention is divided between my two children or when travelling through airports, etc. and visiting children's gardens, museums, hiking, shopping, anywhere. I thought she might not like being tethered, but after practicing with it at home and around town for a couple of days, she loves it and wore it without fuss all throughout during our recent trip. Just be careful to not let the harness get wound around the body or neck! As with any other harness system, this requires constant attention and is NOT a license to let your attention wander off your children! The little backpack is a nice feature as well, to carry extra snacks, toys, clothes or diapers around and have right at hand.

Best School Backpack:s Cute Zebra Print Black White

This backpack is exactly as shown if not better! I got this literally 10 minutes ago and I couldn't get to my iPad fast enough to leave my comments! I know, over a backpack! But here's why, it is such a bargain. It is really as shown. It is roomy. It is nice and wide. It has 2 zipper closures for the main compartment! This was huge for me! And the price is such a great deal! I paid double the price for a backpack at a trendy tween mall store and got a poor quality hard plastic one main zipper backpack that really doesn't measure up to this one! Also, I paid for standard shipping and was a little disappointed that it looked like it was probably not going to arrive before the start of school so imagine my thrill to have it arrive in 2 days! That is awesome customer service! Thank you Coolstuff4u !!

Best School Backpack:s Rothco Deluxe Camouflage Waterproof Woodland

I purchased two of these bags for a vacation with my boyfriend (one in light blue and the other in black--at the time the black was the cheapest but I see now it has gone up in price). The bags performed well beyond my expectations!

We went to California and planned to hit up SeaWorld, Legoland, and the San Diego Zoo. I wanted something simple and lightweight, and I wanted something relatively cheap so that I could buy two. I thought something water-resistant would be nice (for SeaWorld and the Legoland waterpark), but I also purchased dry bags so it wasn't the most important thing. These bags actually held up in water far better than I would ever have expected! While we had our cell phones, cameras and wallets in dry bags, there were spare T-shirts and things in these bags that did not get wet at all, even after we rode the "Shipwreck Rapids" ride twice, getting pretty thoroughly soaked in the process.

The strings were a little long for me, but it's easy to adjust them by pulling the drawstrings shorter and then tying them in knots to keep them that way.

I thought these might be bags we used on this vacation and then tossed when we were done, but I will be keeping these around for future trips and will use them until they fall apart, which will probably be a pretty long time.

Best School Backpack: Stephen Joseph Green Hot Size

I had the monkey backpack for my son and after loving it, I chose this one for my daughter even though she isn't old enough to need it yet. It is incredibly soft and really cute! After reading the first review, I "tested" it out around the house with my son (he was willing to participate lol). I can't comment on long term use, but it held up with him finding it hilarious to try and "run away" with me still holding the strap which made it tug on the strap and him go backwards. You have to have some fun sometimes!! :) Nothing broke and he's 5 so I'm hoping it means that the first reviewer just got a dud. I'm giving it 4 stars and will update it if necessary whenever I use it for it's actual intended purpose.

Edit 12/28/12:

This has held up well! My daughter is 2.5 and hates the stroller. Living in FL and having passes to SeaWorld, we go often, which means this gets used often. I upped my rating from 4 stars, to 5 stars. I have absolutely no complaints. Also, my daughter who HATES being confined has no problems when we use this (probably because she knows that the alternative is the stroller).

Best School Backpack:s Sugarbooger Kiddie Play Vintage Alphabet

I did a LOT of research before deciding on this particular backpack for my son. We've been using it for almost a year now and have absolutely loved it. We also have a Sugarbooger lunch bag to match and a splat mat in another Sugarbooger pattern (Outerspace) and love them both as well. The backpack is just the right size for taking to mother's day out and short nursery stays, or on trips in the car. We pretty much take it everywhere with us; for the amount we've used it already, the price was extremely reasonable. I fit several diapers (sz 5), a travel package of wipes, an insulated sippy cup, a package of diaper disposal bags, at least one toy, some crayons, and usually a fruit pouch and/or fruit snacks in it at one time, so it's pretty roomy. The nice thing is that the flap with the velcro is the only fastener so you don't have to worry about overstuffing it and breaking a zipper or anything. There is a zipper pocket inside, but I've never actually used it. My son is almost two and still a bit young to carry it on his back, but the top handle makes it just as easy for me to carry around. I love that the style, size and pattern are such that my son will probably be carrying this around until he goes to kindergarten and maybe even longer. Just a note: I had this monogrammed with his name pretty large on the flap in brown and it looks adorable. There was an ID sleeve on the inside of the pouch that the monogrammer removed in order to monogram it, but that was no big deal and didn't cost extra. I've also washed this in my washing machine and just hung it up to dry and it faired just fine. The inside can be easily wiped out, but the outside is a durable fabric (almost like a canvas) that isn't as easily wiped down, but came out of the washer perfectly clean. I get lots of compliments on my Sugarbooger products because they're so cute and unique!

The Best Ever: Dakine 8210050 DAKINE Garden Kinzer

I usually lug around a messenger bag when I'm out and about, but I wanted a backpack for my recent trip to Vegas. I was looking around for a pack that was lightweight and rather small; much smaller than ones used by students. I discovered Dakine packs, and now I'm a fan!

There are several things I love about the 13-liter Grom Pack:

++ Just the right size--small, but big enough for everything I need, with plenty of room to spare. Its about 15 inches tall, about 10 inches wide.
++ Padded shoulder straps. These are essential for me when picking a backpack. Very comfortable. The much smaller Dakine 6-Liter Go Go Pack did not have this, which is why I decided to upgrade to the Grom.
++ Sternum strap. Makes the pack even more comfortable, and will stabilize the shoulder straps. I am able to wear my pack all day without much fatigue at all.
++ Padded back. Again, good for comfort.
++ Thick, rugged material for the bottom of the pack; its not hard/plastic, it just makes the bottom a little more stable than the slightly thinner material on the rest of the pack.
++ Love the color I chose, "Highland".
++ Bungee cord on the outside was used to clip all of my casino club cards; quick storage for hats, too.
++ Can attach my Timbuk2 cell phone holder to the left shoulder strap for easy access to my iPhone.

Some things I hope to see in the future for this line of Dakine packs:

-- Key clip/bungie in one of the external compartments.
-- Needs at least one internal pocket in the main compartment.
-- Ventilation for the padded back.

This is now my everyday pack; take it to work, shopping, amusement parks, pretty much everywhere I go. Its much more comfortable to use than my messenger bags and is near perfect for my needs. Definitely recommend the Grom Pack to anyone looking for a smaller-sized backpack.

Best School Backpack:s Backpack Elementary School Students Kindergarten

My six year old granddaughter needed a new backpack for school this year. I was already familiar with High Sierra products and felt this one would be great choice for her. She picked out the design, I ordered it and it arrived just in time for the first day of school. I was more than pleased with the quality and features and she loves it! The main compartment is very roomy and the zipper is heavy duty, zips both ways and has two easy to use pulls. A smaller pocket in front has the same zipper and pull and is large enough to hold thing a person would normally carry in pants or jacket pockets. A mesh pocket on the side will easily hold two 16 ounce drink bottles. A pocket on one of the straps baffled me until I realized it was designed to hold an Ipod! So while I purchased it for a six year old, it would be a great purchase for any age or size person. This is a full size, easily adjustable and full featured backpack. I feel this was a great purchase for the money and expect it last until she gets tired of using it!
