Coco Loco Island, Roxas, Palawan, Philippines

Turquoise blue water and a fine golden sand beach surrounds Coco Loco Island in Roxas, Palawan, Philippines. The snorkeling here is some of the best to be had in Asia. You can literally step into an aquatic world ten feet from the shore.

The tropical seaside beach town of Sihanoukville is known to have some of the best beaches in Cambodia. Located in the center of a small peninsula that extends into the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand, Sihanoukville boasts several fine white sand beaches.

The main attractions of Sihanoukville are its beaches and islands, and scuba fans will delight in underwater excursions around Sihanoukville’s outlying islands. The beaches of Cambodia don’t measure up to the serene beauty of the beaches in Thailand. Nevertheless, Sihanoukville is a a popular choice for beach lovers and a popular hangout with the backpacking crowd. Being a short drive away from the capital city of Phnom Penh, the best beaches in Cambodia can easily be reached in a few hours by bus or private car.

Ochheuteal Beach

Ochheuteal Beach holds the title for being the most popular beach in Sihanoukville. Formerly known as UNTAC Beach in the early 90s, Ochheuteal Beach is a long, narrow, sandy stretch of beach with a nice choice of hotels and budget guesthouses, restaurants and bars located either on or near the beach. In the evening, this is the place to be. Several roadside BBQ restaurants offer a nice mix of beats and fresh seafood and meat skewers.

Serendipity Beach

A popular hangout with the backpacking crowd, Serendipity Beach is located at the northern end of Ochheuteal Beach and it is well known for its budget beachfront accommodations. Little beach bars, restaurants and BBQ shacks are also strung out along the beach. People come here to socialize and take advantage of the beach parties which run late into the night.

Victory Beach

Victory Beach can be found at the base of Weather Station Hill (Victory Hill) and it is best known for its incredible views of the town and port. There are several budget guesthouses and beach bungalows for rent located on the side of the hill. Sun chairs and umbrellas, seafood shacks, restaurants, bars, and even a nightclub can be found right on the beach.

Victory Beach has developed a reputation for its incredible sunsets; the best vantage point being at the top of Sihanoukville Mountain. The western side of the mountain offers stunning views of the town, port, ocean, and several outlying islands.

Otres Beach

Pretty little Otres Beach may be furthest from the town center, but it is also the least spoiled of all the beaches in Sihanoukville. The sand here is fine and perfect for sun bathing, while the water is clear and perfect for swimming. Best of all, this beach doesn’t draw the crowds that Serendipity and Occheuteal Beach draw. There are plenty of seafood shacks and bars on this beach. Accommodations, though, are come few and far between.

Sokha Beach

Beautiful Sokha Beach is a wide sandy beach covered in fine, silky, sand, stretching over a kilometer in length. This quiet beach is owned by the Sokha Beach Resort, a 5-star beach resort offering luxurious beachfront accommodations. Sokha Beach is open to the general public as well as guests of the resort. A number of pretty beach gazebos and some upscale beach bars and restaurants can be found here, but if it’s cheap seafood that you are looking for, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

Independence Beach

The historic 7-story Independence Boutique Resort and Spa lends its name to this beautiful sandy beach. Locals know it as otel pram-pul chann, and in town, street signs point the way to 7-Chann Beach. The beach is best at low tide. At high tide, it is quite narrow. The beach has been closed temporarily due to new development projects, with only the south and north ends of the beach remaining open. There are a few drinks and snacks vendors at the southern end of the beach. The northern end allows access to Independence Resort, which sits on a rocky point overlooking the ocean.

Bamboo Island

If a deserted island experience is what you’re after, head to Bamboo Island. Basic accommodations are on offer here. If an overnight stay is not in your plans, day tours to outlying islands can be booked at a number of guesthouses in Sihanoukville. Visitors can spend the day snorkelling, swimming, and exploring.

Koh Rung Islands

The waters around the Koh Rung Islands are excellent for diving and snorkeling.

It should come as no surprise that the best beaches in Thailand also rank as some of the best beaches in the world.

Phuket

Patong Beach

Patong is the largest beach on the island of Phuket. It has been Thailand’s number one beach destination for years. Once a fishing village, it is now one of the island’s two cities. Patong is the main tourist and entertainment district on the island of Phuket, with a large number of pubs, bars, and restaurants catering to every nationality.

Patong Beach stretches 4 km in length and has a wide coastline with silky white sand and warm water. There are a number of water sports to be enjoyed here, including jet skis, windsurfing, wake boarding, water skiing, and para sailing. Hotels and accommodations here are significantly more expensive than anywhere else in Thailand, and there is a wide variety of budget to five star accommodations to choose from.

The beach is lined with lounge chairs and sun umbrellas which are available for rent. Food, drinks, and clothing are all available from hawkers who sell their wares on the beach all day.

Karon Beach

Karon Beach is the second largest beach in Phuket. Despite the large resort complexes in the area, there is not a lot of development on the beach itself. However, the ongoing development of bars, nightclubs, and luxury hotels in the area has already begun to wreak havoc on the environment.

Karon is less crowded than Patong and offers a full range of beach facilities and activities. There are also several fine dining establishments in the area. The sand here is a bit coarser compared to other beaches in Phuket.

The southern point of Karon Beach has a gorgeous stretch of coral reef which is perfect for snorkeling. Sun chairs and umbrellas are also available for rent here.

Kata Beach

If you’re looking for a quiet beach in Phuket, Kata Beach is your best option. Palm trees, warm water and stunning scenery haven’t found juxtaposition alongside massive shopping malls and luxury hotels just yet.

Kata Beach is well-known as an excellent surfing beach, but is less than ideal for families with young children, especially during the low season. There are a number of water activities on Kata Beach, including diving, banana boats, and jet skis. Kata also has several 4 star hotels, seafood restaurants, and shopping places located along the beach.

Similian Island

Surin Island

Phang-Nga

Khao Lak Image Source

Khao Lak

Beautiful Phang Nga, located just north of Phuket Island, is famous for its rugged limestone outcroppings jutting from the sea and its haunting landscape. One of Thailand’s most peaceful resort destinations, Khao Lak, can also be found here, and its gorgeous coastline is home to some of the best beaches in Thailand. This area also embraces three national parks, encompassing a tropical forest, wide white sandy beaches, and stunning beachfront accommodations.

After the area was hit by the 2004 tsunami, refurbished hotels providing quality accommodations have sprung up all over the region. Visitors here can now enjoy infinity pools, lush green gardens and serene lotus ponds.

Khao Lak’s proximity to a tropical forest draws nature lovers of all kinds. There are a number of eco-tours available here, as well as activities like rafting, hiking, elephant trekking, and exploring temple caves.

Krabi

With some 83 islands scattered within the area, all within short reach of each other, the islands of Krabi are an island-hoppers paradise. During low tides, some of these islands are accessible by sandbars and you can literally walk on water from island to island.

Railay Beach Image Source

Railay Beach

Clear blue waters embrace Railay Beach. You might be surprised to learn that this tropical paradise, accessible only by boat, is technically part of the mainland. Railay Beach is nestled amongst towering limestone peaks and surrounded by lush jungle. Although the beach here is small, it, it is still quite popular during peak season. Throughout the rest of the year, beach lovers looking for a quiet beach vacation will be pleasantly surprised by the serenity of the area. Facilities here are limited, as are hotel rooms.

Phi Phi Island

Phi Phi Island is well-known for its silky fine white sand beaches, stunning limestone rock formations, natural cave systems, clear trurqoise water, and a rich variety of marine life. There’s no small wonder that Phi Phi Island is the most beach destination on the Andaman Coast after Phuket.

Most visitors might be surprised to learn that Phi Phi Island is actually two islands. The larger of the two, Phi Phi Don, offers a variety of accommodations to choose from. Its clean, beautiful beaches are perfect for sunbathing and frolicking in the water.

Phi Phi Ley, on the other hand, is popular for its cliffs, natural caves, and water-filled canyon. Phi Phi Island offers just about everything you could ask for in an island. If it’s adventure travel that you’re after, scuba diving, snorkeling, sea kayaking, and rock climbing activities can all be found on this tropical paradise.

Ao Nang Beach Image Source

Ao Nang Beach

Out of all of the beaches in Krabi, Ao Nang Beach is widely considered to be the best. Despite being the most developed beach in the area, Ao Nang also claims the cleanest environment, and it is generally less crowded and quite a bit quieter than other nearby beaches.

This beach is also very kid-friendly, with a nice, long, shallow coastline for kids who love to play in the water. There is also a wide range of accommodations and facilities, including food, boat tours, and adventure hikes. When the tide is low, Pai Plong Beach is easily accessible on foot.

Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta consists of two islands: Koh Lanta Yai and Koh Lanta Noi. Most visitors head straight for Koh Lanta Yai, which harbors a number of tourist facilities and a wide range of accommodations. There are a number of beaches in the area, including Ba Kan Tiang, Khlong Khong, Khlong Nin, Khlong Dao, Kho Kwang, and Phra Ae. The headquarters for Mu Koh Lanta National Park are located at the southern end of the island. The eastern side of the island is also popular with visitors, who come to see the sea gypsy village and an old community of Koh Lanta. Koh Lanta Noi houses the district office.

Best Beaches in Thailand: The Gulf of Thailand

Hua Hin Beach, located in the beach town of Bang Saphan, is a popular beach destination for both locals and international visitors, and it is especially easy and convenient to reach from Bangkok. Being less than 400 km away from Bangkok, Hua Hin can be reached in under five hours traveling over land, making it a prime beach vacation spot for families.
Ko Mun Nok (Desert Island)

A white coral beach in Taiwan.

Some of Asia’s best beaches can be found on the tiny island of Taiwan. The months of May, June, July, August, September and October are the perfect time to frolic in the sun, if you can stand the heat, that is. Taiwan’s hot and humid subtropical climate can make the summer months of July and August extremely uncomfortable. However, if beaches are what you’re after, you’ll find that most of the beaches in Taiwan are geared towards water activities, such as diving, surfing, rafting, snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and fishing.

Taiwan’s beaches are rich and varied, ranging from fine white and golden sand beaches to black sand and sparkling white coral beaches. The beaches on the main island of Taiwan are generally quite crowded during the months of May, June, July, August and September.

Some of the very best beaches in Taiwan can be found on its outlying islands, which haven’t developed a strong tourist trade yet. If you’re lucky, you might stumble upon a beach that is beautiful and remote.

Northern Beaches in Taiwan

Fulong Beach on Flickr.

Fulong Beach

Fulong Beach is a gorgeous stretch of golden sand beaches on the northeast coast in Fulong Village, Gongliao Township. The river beach of Shuangsi River actually runs parallel to the sea beach. The two beaches are connected by a bridge. Shuangsi River, the body of water that separates these two beaches, is fairly deep, but it is a great place for canoeing and windsurfing. Fulong Beach, as one of the few beach resorts in northern Taiwan, is a favorite summer destination for residents in northern Taiwan. Trains from Taipei run to Fulong on a daily basis. To get to the beach, turn right along the main road after leaving the train station. When you come to a small stream, take the first left.

Tongsiao Marine Life Park & Bathing Beach

The bathing beach at Tongsiao makes a terrific family day excursion. As the largest bathing beach in central Taiwan, the park boasts beautiful forests and an artificial lake. The park is also a conservation area for mangroves. Visitors can enjoy a number of local and migratory birds that are found near Taiwan’s shores. Accommodations here are also quite popular with log cabins for rent and a large camping area. Activities at the Tongsiao Marine Life Park don’t stop during the winter when the beach closes. The park’s exhibition rooms remain open, featuring oceanic life including corals, sharks, jellyfish, and reef fish. Tongsiao Marine Life Park is located in Tongsiao Township in northern Taiwan’s Miaoli County. It is about 500 meters away from Take a train to Tongsiao Railway Station. The park and beach are about 500 meters away.

Beautiful Baishawan Beach (White Sand Beach)

Baishawan Beach lives up to its name. Located on the northern coast between Linshanbi and Fugueijiao (Cape Fuguei), Baishawan is a 1,000-meter stretch of fine white sand beach and clear blue water. There aren’t any deck chairs here or beach umbrellas, so bring your own if you plan on making a day of it. If relaxing in the sun and water activities don’t float your boat, there are also a number of other activities in the area that are guaranteed to keep you occupied. The beach is backed by a hill that is popular with hang gliders who come to take advantage of the strong winds coming off the sea. The western end of the bay has a gravel beach named Linshanbi. This beach is famous for its volcanic rock formations and hiking trails. Baishawan is easy to get to. Take the MRT to Danshui. From there, hop on any bus that is heading north around the coast. Your journey from Taipei will take about 40 minutes.

Chinshan

Chinshan is another popular beach resort in on the northeastern shore of Taiwan. Located just north of Keelung, Chinshan Beach is a popular place for families. Extending about 500 meters in length, the beach’s golden sand beach is perfect for sunbathing and sand sculptures. Just behind the beach is a large recreational area that is popular with locals for camping and barbecues. Chinshan doubles as a hot spring resort as well, with a nice indoor hot-springs swimming pool. This beach is usually quite crowded and noisy. If you’re looking for something a little quieter, walk along the coast. Go past the harbor and then cross the park on the headland above. The beach is on the far side. There is also another tiny beach in the area that is somewhat secluded. It’s at the end of the headland and can be reached by wandering down the cliff. Swim here at your own risk. The currents are strong here. Buses to Chinshan leave from the Taipei North Bus Station regularly and will drop you off right at the beach.

Feicueiwan Beach

Feicueiwan Beach, also known as Green Bay, is located on the northern coast. As one of the most developed recreational areas on Taiwan’s northern coastline, Green Bay boasts an enormous white sand beach over 1,500 meters long. Although the admission charge here is a bit steep, Green Bay is THE place to be in the summer if you like water activities. Water skiing, sailing, wind surfing, surfing, jet skis, snorkeling and scuba diving are just some of the activities you can do here. The area is also well-known throughout the island for paragliding and hang gliding. Green Bay is just one of six places in Taiwan where these sports are practiced. Call the Keelung Aerosports Association (tel: (02) 2966-3414) to fix up a tandem jump or arrange a full course. To reach Green Bay, take a bus or train to Keelung Train Station. The bus station is right next to the train station. Take a bus bound for Chinshan. The journey to Green Bay takes about 20 minutes.

Honeymoon Bay ‘

Honeymoon Bay in Ilan County is 90 minutes away from the city of Taipei by train. The beach here is very good for swimming, but it is one of the premier spots for surfing in Taiwan. Get off at Tahsi. Turn right along the main coast road to reach Honeymoon Bay in a couple of minutes. Beware: Currents here are strong.

Southern Beaches in Taiwan

Chateau Hotel, Kenting by Mandy Whale

Kenting

Kenting’s beaches, located on the rugged southernmost tip of Taiwan, hold the honor of being the best beach in Taiwan. The warm semi-tropical landscape of Taiwan has balmy breezes, beautiful sandy beaches for swimming, diving and surfing and an 18,000 hectare national park. With an average annual temperature of 20 – 28 degrees Celcius, Kenting is a terrific place for all kinds of water sports. The coral reeds here have a rich and diverse variety of marine life and attracts diving enthusiasts from all over the island. In addition to diving, other popular activities include swimming, surfing, windsurfing, water-skiing, parasailing, jet-sking and yachting. Whatever your pleasure, be it water sports or sunbathing, Kenting’s beaches are sure to deliver.

Best Beaches on Taiwan’s Outlying Islands.

The Pescadores/The Penghu Islands

The island archipelago of Penghu consists of some 90 islands depending on sea levels. Out of these islands, 64 are above sea level and only 20 are inhabited. Some of the best beaches in Asia can be found here, and that is why Penghu is often referred to as the Little Hawaii of Taiwan. Its beautiful beaches, blue waters and clear skies are perfect for sunbathers and water-sports enthusiasts. The waters of Penghu are world-renowned for wind-surfing. Wind speeds are fierce here, and Penghu has developed a reputation for being one of the windiest places on Earth. Windsurfing enthusiasts come from all over the world to race the winds and raging sea, and international wind-surfing tours and contests are held here regularly every year. In general, the islands in the Northeast Sea Recreational Area are the best place to go if you are looking for water activities. Jibei Islel, Xianjiao Islet (also known as Bikini Island) and Pengpeng Beach are the most popular islands.

Jibei Island

Jibei Island is one of the most popular beaches in Taiwan. In our opinion, this should also be listed as one of the best beaches in Asia. It is definitely one of Asia’s best kept secrets. Sand Bay Beach, also known as Jibei Beach, is quite famous. Its pale golden sand beach extends several kilometers in length and ends in a beak that extends 1500 meters into the ocean. The natural landscape here is magnificent to view from the air. On the southwestern side of the island is Baishawei Beach, which is renowned for its fine white sand. It is a popular place with swimmers and divers. There are all kinds of activities on offer here providing the perfect place to spend hot summer afternoons.

Bikini Island

Bikini Island, also known as Bikini Atoll, consists of mostly white sand and is famous for being surrounded by submerged reefs, making it a popular destination for snorkeling and diving.

Green Island (Lyudao)

Tiny Green Island takes about an hour to circumnavigate by scooter. The island is famous for its green mountains and plains, sandy white beaches and sparkling blue tropical water rich in colorful marine life. It is great for swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and shell-collecting.

Orchid Island (Lanyu)

Orchid Island has some marvelous beaches that are surrounded by towering mountains and lush rainforests. The beaches here offer a wide range of water sports. Dongcing Bay lies on the eastern shore of Lanyu. This beautiful white sandy beach is a perfect place to watch the sunrise. A visit to Orchid Island promises a rich cultural experience as well. The aboriginal inhabitants, the Yami, are the only oceanic tribe among Taiwan’s aboriginal cultures.

The beaches in Taiwan definitely have something to offer when you’re considering your beach vacation options.

Hong Kong’s Best Asian Beach Vacations

When you think of Asian beach vacations, Hong Kong is probably one destination that doesn’t come to mind. However, with over 200 outlying islands, and a long coastline full of spectacular bays and beaches, there are more than enough beautiful beaches in Hong Kong to frolic the day away at.

While there are several beaches that you might feel belong on this list, we have carefully researched the best beaches in Hong Kong and have only included those that come with a grade of 1 or 2, based on weekly water samples collected from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of Hong Kong.

To date, the LCSD has a total of forty beaches in Hong Kong. Eleven of them are located on Hong Kong Island and the southern part of the Kowloon Peninsula. The remaining 29 are located in the New Territories and include Hong Kong’s outlying islands.

Grading System

Beaches are graded according to the level of E. coli in the water of the beaches.

Grade 1 – Excellent. No related cases of skin and gastrointestinal illnesses that have been reported by swimmers at these beaches.

Grade 2 – Fair. 10 in 1000 swimmers have reported skin and gastrointestinal illnesses.

Grade 3 – Poor. 11 – 15 in 1000 swimmers have reported skin and gastrointestinal illnesses.

Grade 4 – More than 15 in 1000 swimmers have reported skin and gastrointestinal illnesses. Swimmers are advised not to swim at these beaches.

Best Beaches on Hong Kong Island

Turtle Cove Beach is situated east of Stanley and west of Tai Tam Reservoir. This Grade 1 beach is less than 70 meters long, but it is well-equipped with changing rooms, toilets and showers. There is also a small playground, a soft drinks kiosk, and seven barbecue pits. To get to Turtle Cove Beach, take bus No.14 from exit A of the Sai Wan Ho MTR station or the mini-van 16X from Chai Wan.

Shek O Beach is a beautiful beach on the southeastern end of Hong Kong Island. This fantastic little village has an excellent selection of restaurants. Lifeguards, shark nets, and changing rooms can all be found here. The water quality here is quite good. To get to Shek O, take bus number 9 from Shau Kei Wan MRT Station.

Big Wave Bay is a popular choice with the surf crowd in Hong Kong. The beach is north of Shek O Beach, and has a more rural setting. Big Wave Bay is Hong Kong’s only designated surfing beach, but there really is no comparison when taking other world-class surfing destinations into consideration.

Repulse Bay on southwest Hong Kong Island has one of the most popular beaches in Hong Kong. It isn’t the most beautiful beach, since there are so many high-rises overlooking the beach, but it is easy to get to and offers plenty of facilities.

Stanley Main Beach is probably the best-known beach in Hong Kong, but we’ve heard that the water here is mediocre at best. This small village on the south of Hong Kong Island is well-developed with excellent facilities. There are two beaches here, Stanley Main Beach and St. Stephen’s Beach. There are also a number of western style bars and restaurants lining the waterfront.

Best Beaches in the New Territories

Golden Beach has the honor of being the first artificial beach in Hong Kong and one of the few beaches in Hong Kong that boasts a volleyball court. There are several refreshment kiosks in the area, and a nearby hotel and shopping mall make this beach very convenient. Swimmers have reported that the water quality here is quite good. To get to Golden Beach from Kwai Fong, take KMB bus number 52M. If you are coming from Tsuen Wan, get on KMB bus number 53.

Sai Kung Beach is a nice option if you want to make a day excursion to the beach. Located in the eastern part of the New Territories, this beach is a fair distance from Hong Kong Island. The water quality here is very good and there is a wide range of drinking and dining establishments to choose from. Sai Kung Beach also draws a number of water sport enthusiasts, since the Sai Kung Sail Club is just up the road. To get to the beach, take bus number 92 from Diamond Hill MRT Station in Kowloon.

Best Beaches on Lantau Island

Hong Kong’s largest island, Lantau, has several beaches which are clean and relatively convenient to reach. For all of them, the first step is to simply take the ferry from Central to Mui Wo. Then, if necessary, one can just hop on a bus.

Silvermine Bay Beach is the easiest to get to and also has a reputation for being one of the cleanest beaches in Hong Kong. This Grade 1 beach is a 5 minute walk away from the Mui Wo ferry pier. This beach is an excellent family beach. The water quality is very good, and there is a swimming area here with several lifeguards on duty. Bicycles can also be rented here, and there are a number of refreshment stands and restaurants in the area as well. The Silvermine Beach Hotel, located right on the waterfront, is an excellent option for those looking for a weekend getaway. There are several other hotels and guesthouses in the area as well. To get to Silvermine Bay Beach, take the ferry from Central Pier to Lantau Island.

Cheung Sha on southern Lantau has two beautiful beaches. Both Upper Cheung Sha and Lower Cheung Sha are popular with surfers and should be avoided during monsoon season. Both beaches offer lifeguard services and changing facilities.

Tong Fuk is a one of the most popular recreational destinations in Hong Kong. The beach is a famous local attraction, where tourists can rent village houses to relax and enjoy the beautiful natural scenery.

Beaches on Cheung Chau

In Cheung Chau, two beaches along the eastern coastline, Tung Wan Beach and Kwun Yam Wan Beach, are thought to be quite good. Both beaches are classified as Grade 1 beaches. Kwun Yam Beach is a beautiful fine white beach with water sports facilities.

Po Yue Wan, also known as Italian Beach, is on the southwestern end of the island. It doesn’t have many facilities, but it is quiet and peaceful compared to other beaches in Cheung Chau.

Best Beaches on Lamma Island

Author’s note: There is no public transportation on Lamma Island.

Lo So Shing Beach is about halfway between the main villages of Yung Shue Wan and Sok Kwu Wan. This beautiful Grade 1 beach is clean and well-equipped with showers and refreshment facilities. Because of its remote location and a lack of public transportation, Lo So Shing Beach is a good option if you’re looking for a beach that doesn’t host hordes of sun-worshippers. To get there, take the ferry from Central Pier and travel to Yung Shue Wan or Sok Kwu Wan. Look for signposts to guide you on your way to the beach. The walk is about 40 minutes.

Hung Shing Yeh Beach is the most popular beach on Lamma Island. This Grade 1 beach boasts fine, powdery sand and clear water. The beach is well-equipped with changing facilities, a refreshment kiosk, and a barbecue area. To get there, take the ferry from Central Pier and travel to Yung Shue Wan. Look for signposts on your way to the beach. The walk is about 20 minutes.

To sum up, although the beaches in Hong Kong might not be rated among the best beaches in Asia, they are still a wonderful escape from the hustle-bustle streets of busy Hong Kong.

Fulong Beach

Fulong Beach lies on the northeast coast in Fulong Village, Gongliao Township. There are two beaches here. The river beach of Shuangsi River is a great place for canoeing and windsurfing. This beach runs parallel to the sea beach. As one of the few beach resorts in northern Taiwan, Fulong Beach is a favorite summer destination for residents in northern Taiwan.
Southern Beaches in Taiwan

Kenting

The beautiful southernmost tip of Taiwan holds the honor of having the best beach in Taiwan. Kenting’s beaches bring sun bathers adagio breezes, fine sandy beaches for swimming, and playing on and an 18,000 hectare national park nearby. Kenting boasts a number of water sports, and the coral reefs here attract diving enthusiasts from all over the island.

Some of the best beaches in Asia can be found on Taiwan’s outlying islands. The Penghu archipelago is often referred to as the Little Hawaii of Taiwan because of its beautiful beaches, blue waters and clear skies. The waters here are world-renowned for wind-surfing as well, and draw international windsurfing crowds every November.
