Today I was searching for articles on missing/unclaimed money through my daily Rss feed, and I have found an example for 2 different titles to the same post.

The titles were:

"State: Unclaimed cash could be yours" - Under the news section.
"It's your money, and the state has it" - Under the Communities section.

As a blogger, I'm not a stranger to the battle for the best title, a title which could bring your new post to the top of Delicious favorites.

BTW, between these two titles I think the first one is much more attractive for readers.

Beware of spammers - Google is everywhere

I wrote about it in my : "Banned from Google" popular post, yet after I was having 3 blogs with Pagerank 4, my email has started to be extremlly fulled with spam massages, few of them were like "Click on mine and I will click yours....".

Well, I guess the exchanging links season has just started, but not for me.

How am I reacting when a massage like "lets exchange.." enters my gmail?
First, I am checking the other website/blog for content and pagerank.
Then I am looking for the type of backlinks this blog gets.

In general:
If a website has no pagerank, it could be due to 3 reasons (2 of them I personally know) :

It is a new website/blog (less than 3 months on the road), so it hasn't been ranked yet.
It is a domain redirection, and the website has lost all its rankings and backlinks.
It is a spam.

So, if you will find a "nice" offer to trade the hell of your link, be cautious before fast-reaching conclusions.

A blogger has to do what a blogger has to do, and reading every article available about blog design, css, and other tricks through my favorite Rss feeds is my most favorite kind of stuff.

I have always had a major problem when I was trying to create a new picture in Jpg format, I mean, of course when I tried to create rounded corners and save it.
I don't use any Photoshop tools, and I don't even have enough money to be spent on extra hours of web design, there are certain things I could have been doing by myself.

Sooo, I have found a great website to make exactly what I needed - making anti-aliased rounded corners, after a quick easy formatting process of hight and width.

Best ways to solve your blogging problems

An old tale says that if you've just received a horse for free, don't be checking its teeth... Well, with a $240 billion market cap Google has, I think that we all have a part on how Google has became such a successful company.
Google is the most important player on search engines industry, it accounted for 60% of all U.S web searches.

So where is the problem?
Ever since I've decided to make money blogging, I knew I had to provide my readers with a good financial information about money-making, stocks investments, deposits, mutual funds and other money matters, so that was the reason why I have chosen blogger to host my blog and template, it was one of many other Google's great products.

Update - I purchased a new Google/Godaddy domain - 30/1/08

Maybe you should try Try Google pack to understand what I meant by saying the word great.
Unfortunately, from the moment I started writing my blog using blogger's template, I was having many difficulties with managing my blog.

The hardest thing to be understood those problems occurred despite the fact that most tools I was using were within Google itself - Blogger, sitemap, templates, w3 validation, and even sharing photos from my flickers account.

My question is why most blog companies offer hundreds of nice templates, and our big Googles' blogger offers us only few.
Considering as not-a-great-deal for Google/blogger, I think that placing a friendly nice menu bar, category bar, media side bar, hidden navigation bar and easy site-mapping are great tools to support bloggers.

Sitemap:
Creating a sitemap through Google Webmasters should be an automatic action for bloggers, because we are using a Google platform.
Each time I have changed my HTML template, or I created hundreds of errors in w3 validate, how come a widget does so bad to my blog?
A URL cannot be found... - Where is he? - I don't have it... those errors need to be fixed within great Google - we don't understand any of
those errors - Google robot crawled and didn't find a blogger URL..
Manging HTML tools must be easy especially for bloggers who don't know anything about HTML codes.

All those question are driving me crazy - How come Wet paint, wordpress, bloghr and other blogging companies offer a great platform for their bloggers.
I just hope that those validation errors will cause nothing to my rank (Update - my pagerank for my free blogspot hosting blog is 4) .
It will improve our blogging experience if our Google/blogger blog's will automatically be validated (less validating errors - faster pageloads).

Recently, I wrote about the research which problogger did, analyzing the articles of delicious most popular posts.
I've just been thinking how important it is for bloggers to give their posts attractive titles, it came up during my daily (hourly..) Google reader search, when I was just realized I kept reading only attractive-titles articles.
The point is,that the reader mostly shows only 2 sentences from the entry, so if those sentences do not contain any valuable information, the regular visitor would usually be skipping to next attractive title.
So, even for the sake of your rss feed traffic - give your articles attractive titles.

How to get a little bit of blogging reorganization - custom domain

Well, I was having terrible 3 three weeks having no one else around me - family wife kids, they've all gone, and only three of us have left - me, my custom domain and its lost Google rankings.

Unfortunately, as always, my Google rankings have won so I switched my custom domain back to my good old pagerank-4-well-indexed blogspot domain.

What has happened:
After I was having thousands of backlinks legitimately built through countless of man hours (me), switching to a custom domain have resulted all of my backlinks to disappear, worth yet, I've lost both my pagerank and my main top Google ranking of keywords like "free money" and "free money online", not to mention my adsense revenue who dropped sharply by 80%.

The conclusion:
It led me into an inevitable conclusion - think twich before changing your blogspot to custom domain, Google indexes a blogspot domain faster and higher then other domains.

So, what I did was to switch back my old blog, having the new custom domain which was already had unignorable number of backlinks replacing a new blogspot domain I've just created.

Surprisingly, his research indicates that given the fact those posts were favorited by most readers - titles of those entries were created by intensively thinking about how to get readers attention by using simple rules, quotes and promises.

How to be Banned from google index? - based on bloggers comments

Yesterday, I've read one of the most important and most commented articles I think every blogger should be reading.
No, it had nothing to do with sex, gadgets or ipods. In fact, the article writer invites bloggers and webmasters who were banned from being indexed by Google, to show-off with their private issues, providing them with tips on how to fill the reinclusion request, how to find it, how to discover what was the problem which caused the website to be penalized, and offering them help with gaining the website with its rankings again.

The article was basically published at the mega blog owned by the head of Google's Webspam team - MattCutts.

My comments:

* I've yet to be banned from Google since my blog has a Google-only ads but who knows...
* People began commenting on this article in 2005 and are still commenting today -2008 (3 years).
* Each of the followings described, is totally based on readers stories and their unknowing. Means that everything you are about to read is an assumption to what causes the problem, it is definitely not my personal knowledge nor my experience.
* I personally don't even understand what the hell "canonical" and "url hijacking" mean....
* Although it made me kinda sad reading all those problem other bloggers had, I've came up with an idea - why not try to alphabetically summarize what readers commented (374- updated to 8/2/08) and list all those mistakes bloggers often do, and help them with following Google webmasters guidelines to fully preventing them from being penalized.

Well - these were the mistakes readers made according to their own comments on the article - "Filling a reinclusion request" by Matt Cutts.

Spam comments - a new program called sezwho offers comments empowerment.
Building links through third party.
Automatic link trade programs.
Duplicate content.
Link bombing / keyword spamming.
Url hijacking.
Running questionable web services affiliate script.
Someone has downloaded your website.
important- 301s from an old site to a new site.**important**
Redirection of simple domain to other homepage.
Previous domain-owner was a spammer.
Colors / flash "games" / auto redirection/cloaking.
Javascript redirect's.
Hidden text/links/doorway pages.
page with “100% Frame” having a remotely hosted template for e-books search within.
Duplicated affiliate sites.
Using Ranking power.
Non-unique articles.
“page-only” website.
Using H tags / bolding the hell out of your keywords / creating doorways.
some URL’s for the same website.
Adding printable pages.
scrapers grabbed your adwords links.
Ha Ha... - "A bunch of funky pages with nonsense writing", "thousands of links to everywhere".
Phony address been included.
Someone has exactly duplicated your home page.

As an update, I have attached Google's announcement of bad scoring to long time loading webpages, means you have to be checking out reasons for your pages to get heavily loaded.
Using an automated link program.
Comments you've never left are linking to your Url.
Massive uncontrollable link exchange. ("it sandboxes you to hell...ha ha ha...)
Every single link has it’s own html index.
Using doorway pages in flash-only websites.( even if it used for the content of the Flash to be represented).
De-indexing yourself by posting your own duplicate content using your same templates.
Using notorious web position / questionable quality links.
Content served via both http and https has no separate robots.txt file for each.
Linking with banned sites.
Canonical URL. excessive reciprocal linking / bad neighbors/unrelated links.
Linking to a non-legit business / non-related to your content.
Link with vitamins, sex, questionable content.
Using message boards spamming.
Using network banner exchange.
Paid doorway/link page on a subdomain on my main domain,
Redirection has been dropped.
Using the Auto-removal tool.
Rss directory who publishes your content - might be considered duplicate content.
Plugins for search terms recording - might be considered keyword spamming.
Automated link generation / machine generated pages.
Duplicate content caused by sub domains.
Drop down menu was placed too close to Google ads.
Broken links.
Meta robots blocks your home-page.
Using meta refresh/redirect.

A great website/blog idea and a lot of traffic - a blogger couldn't ask for anything more. A major bank offers a bad credit-card debt consolidation loan or other debt management solution, Will the blogger be able to connect this content to his blog content? Could he take a chance of losing readers to its competitors just because he didn't have the knowledge on how to bring that information?

Pick someone who understands financial matters. It might cost you a few hundred dollars, but why not try to boost your blog traffic?
You can offer a new blog service that provides small business owners with an online financial advice, coloring your blog pages with words like equity loan, mortgage rates or how to manage stock investments.
By doing this little bit of improvement, the blogger could earn more traffic to his blog.

Blogging is a spiritual act to me, which even an old-but-still-young-at-heart people can like to do.

My blogs' traffic update:
2007 has officially ended and my 4 months old blog has just reached 100 daily unique visitors.

It took me a week to list my blog to 100 Rss submitters, 150 blog directories, 500 posts comments, 600 stumbles (I like it / I don't like it / I am the first to review it), 40 social bookmarking websites, 1500 different ping services, and 20 different search engines.

There were at least 100 other websites I thought might be helping improve my blogs' traffic.
So what's my point? in the last few days, 98% of my blogs' traffic came from Google Search results, the other 2% came from ehow.

The conclusion is inescapable:

Don't waste your time trying to build traffic from useless sources, work hard, use the best SEO tools (search engine optimization) to get a high Google ranking - it is the best source of stable and continuous blogs' traffic - (at least until a mega-blog will link to you) that's my opinion.

The most important thing to us, bloggers, is that number 5000, you will find blogs who are usually getting 200 unique visitors per day - so we still got a chance to be listed there.

Update 4/08 - My blog has just reached 300 daily unique visitors..

An interesting point to be mentioned - Among the top 100 blogs, there are only 10 different scripts explained by the fact that there are at least 2 big blog companies (for example - weblogs,Gwaker).

This is what I have found at Google's webmaster central:

Well, I have searched the web for you and I have found the solution written on TECHNO JUICE BLOG:

Every SEO guru and even pseudo guru will tell you the importance of Meta Keyword
and description Tag in SEO and it is obvious there are plugins to do just that in wordpress !

But there is no feature blogger to customize the Meta Tags.

Ever since I started my blog, I knew I had to be placing two sidebars in my blog if I want to succeed in blogging.

I then, took a long journey through hundreds explanations on how should I be doing that, what html code and dimensions I should use.

The secret of how to use two sidebars hides behind understanding the layout structure, header, main and outer wrapper, and the ability to translate margin and padding line on your scripts html code.

Don't you dare looking at my script and laugh. My trial and error experiment has started weeks ago, and had never actually ended. I know much more information now, then I used to know before, but I still know nothing.

So, taking advantage of the time I spent in front of my computer, I would be providing you with two valuable links. Using the explanation may help you on changing your blog from having one sidebar into two. The first one is a great blog I love to read, it has beautiful look too, called blogu. The second great explanation came from another good blog called "tips for bloggers".

How to fix googles blogspot sitemap problem

On Sunday Google has rejected my sitemap submission.

To your blog, having no sitemap is like someone who has no birth certificate...

So, I dedicated one day to resolve the "Url not allowed" problem, and finally I've found the solution.

Here is a tip which will help you not to spend the whole day as I did.

First, I searched for a webmaster forum and the best solution was:

Type this, change "wijoo" with your blog name.

You would get something like:

"Sitemap: http://wijoo.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?orderby=updated".

Then, you should kindly burn a new feed url using feedburner.

Place the new feed url on your blogger setting (add feed).

You're done feeding your blog.

Google webmasters tools:

Go to Google webmaster tools / sitemaps write "atom.xml" and go dancing.
