So I bought this player in summer 2005 and it still works. I don't really have that much against it because it has lasted all of this time. There were a couple of times I broke it by dropping it on the floor but after opening it and making sure everything is in its place, I haven't had any trouble with it. The only complaint now I have is the battery life but then again that's to be expected when its been used constantly for over 4 years. I'm really sad that they don't make it anymore or at least have a software that works with Windows Vista. But then again, nothing works with Vista. I know that this wasn't the most helpful review but if you're wondering if Creative mp3 players last- well they do even if you don't take the best of care with them.

This was a great idea but the design stinks. First off the arm band holder does not fit the mp3 player correctly. There are holes in the side of the holder and the only thing that lines up correctly is the head phone jack. The controls are not easily accessible when in the armband and the hold button lock on when inserted and is hidden when in the armband. It comes with some weird head phones that have a string connecting the two ear buds. I've never seen something like this and not sure if your supposed to wear the them with the wire in front, behind or around you neck. The head phone jack is not a standard size so they did include a clunky adapter if you wanted to use one of your own. The usb jack is non standard also with a 6 inch cord. This was my first clue that this device was suspect when they used a proprietary 4 pin usb connection. The device does not play all of my mp3 files instead giving an error Invalid Format. My sansa mp3 player had no problem with these files. It is very very hard and confusing to use. There is a rocker button on top that controls most of it but very hard to and not intuitive to navigate. This device instead has a RECord button on the front of it. Why would you want to record with an athletic mp3 player? They should have made better use of this button for something else. Overall I'm satisfied with it. I still don't know how to make a playlist. But I know how to play my songs. I haven't figured out how to make the mp3 player connect with the iriver software the player comes with. This provides a level of frustration for me, since I thought I would be able to organize my songs extensively. But I was the "informed consumer " so any dissatisfaction is my fault. For the most part I like it. Now would I recommend it? I don't know.

It is about 1 inch square, has a built-in clip for your shirt or gym shorts, comes with a USB cable and ear buds, and is reasonably priced. I have only had it a short time, and do not know about long-term reliability. Still, I like it a lot and do recommend it.
First problem: the included earbuds are pretty mediocre. If you are serious about music sound quality, you should use high quality earphones.
Mainly, though, is the "User Manual". The one in the package has several, rather obvious mistakes. I went to the official Sylvania website, clicked over a few times, and wound up at the Curtis International website. There, I was able to download the correct manual in pdf format.
Mainly, I could not figure out when the player was finished charging. The pdf manual has the answer: there are 2 LED's. The LED next to the on/off switch simply tells you that the USB cable is getting juice; the LED next to the earphone hole will turn off when the internal battery is fully charged.
I have since figured out that this thing, when plugged into a powered external USB hub, only requires a couple of minutes to fully charge.

I bought the 2gb version of this product initially. I bought it for it's water proofing. It it built sturdy. The arm band is of good quality. I had various problems with it. Some times it wouldn't start. It would keep initializing the database and would finally start after about 10 minues. The unit would reset. RCA took it back under warranty and sent me the 4gb version. It worked well for around 7 months. One day I loaded new songs on the unit. The next time I started it, it said 'initializing' and never got past that point. My PC no longer recognizes it. I'm not able to reset it. I don't recommend this product. You might get a year out of it. This player is not that bad. I am a big fan of the sansa MP3 players also because of their features and sound quality. But my niece wanted a white MP3 player, so the search was on. I like the Samsung S3 MP3 player and so did my 13 yr old niece. In fact, I wanted to keep it for myself since it was so unique looking and Samsung is no longer making the model too. The navigation is user friendly and responds well. I rate this player a strong B+. I thought I would buy this 2GB version so I could keep the original one loaded with all my favorites and use this one to expand on my listening options for when I take my daily walk. It works exactly as the 1GB version did, which is to say very nicely. Has a lot of options which you can customize to your liking and is very easy to operate. Operates on one AAA battery which lasts several weeks for me and I use mine daily. One drawback, and this definitely surprised me, the new 2GB eliminated the built in loop at the top from which you could use a lanyard to hang the device around your neck while out walking.
