Chrysler's subsequent sudden decision to sell the Bologna company to a group of unknown Indonesian investors seems far more difficult to explain. This change of hands became official on 21 January 1994, destabilising the company management.

Despite these problems, the Diablo was developed and many collateral models were derived from it, some of which would prove to be very popular with certain consumer ranges. Some of the most interesting were the 1995 SV, a lighter and more powerful model that placed a premium on driving pleasure over comfort, and the VT Roadster with a Targa-style removable roof, which was instantly a hit, particularly in the United States. Other special editions, such as the SE, Jota, Monterey, Alpine and many others, were derived from these models. Also in 1995, Giorgetto Giugiaro demonstrated the Calà to the trade press, and this was another car with a V10 engine designed to replace the Jalpa. Interesting as it may have been, however, it never left the prototype stage. In 1996, a single-make championship was also inaugurated thanks to the organisation of a series of races to be held in Europe, with regulations similar to the ones followed by established international championships. A circuit version of the Diablo - the SVR - was made for this championship. In 1999, its on-road evolution was announced (the GT an ultra-sporty road version produced in a limited series of 83 units) as well as the circuit model for the new cycle of races for this trophy GTR, with a 6-litre 590-hp engine, produced in a limited series of 32 units).

In the meantime, Luigi Marmiroli left Lamborghini for personal reasons and Massimo Ceccarani took his place. The need to develop new models and thus to make major investments along these lines was evident. By this time, the Diablo was more than seven years old, a very long time in this difficult market.

Lamborghini turned to several top-level carmakers, including Audi, to request their technical collaboration. The initial idea was to ask for the 8-cylinder engine of the 'A8' flagship to power the future 'baby Lamborghini', but Audi's technical staff went back to company headquarters in Germany with very positive reports on the status of the company, its newfound good management and the professional level of the development work being done on its cars.

The first letter of intents between Audi and Lamborghini was signed on 12 June 1998, and the contract for the complete and definitive transfer of all the shares from the last Indonesian shareholder to the German company was completed on 27 July of the same year, just 50 days later.

From a distance it looks like a vehicle built for the road, albeit a slightly unusual one. But on a straight stretch of tarmac or grass this machine transforms, giving it the ability to take to the skies. This flying car is made by Dutch company PAL-V, or Personal Air and Land Vehicle

The PAL-V took its maiden flight in March, and is certified for the air as well as the road. It needs only 165 metres to take off and, depending on weight, can fly for up to 500 kilometres, or 315 miles.
The top speed is the same on the ground as in the air, around 180 kilometres an hour, or 110 miles an hour.

Lift is generated by an auto-rotating rotor on top, forward speed from a propeller on the back.This configuration is known a gyrocopter, and the company says it's quiet, easy to fly and safe. Before taking the controls customers must get their private pilot's license. But PAL-V hopes to attract buyers beyond weekend flying enthusiasts.

Scheduled for launch early 2012 is the newest addition to Chevrolet’s high performance Camaro series, the 2012 Camaro ZL1. Not only will the ZL1 be the fastest Camaro offered by Chevrolet, it will also be the most technologically advanced. Some of the new technologies incorporated in the new Camaro are electric power steering and magnetic ride control. The ZL1 was definitely built around the concept of enhanced performance.

High performance driving is what the ZL1 is all about. The LSA 6.2L V8 supercharged engine packs an estimated 550 horsepower for optimal performance on and off the track. The power of the ZL1 is matched with a highly developed chassis and the world’s fastest reacting suspension system. The ZL1’s updated body kit makes it stand apart from its Camaro predecessors. Its aerodynamic design increases down force for better handling.
All of the colors are available from previous models of the Camaro are available for the ZL1, but the interior only comes in black. Advanced technology is also evident in the instruments used. The ZL1 will come with a rear camera system with the display incorporated in the rear view mirror.

The list of Porsche Cayenne tuners just got a little longer as Mansory has introduced a new styling and performance package for the love it or hate it SUV.

On the styling front, the widebody kit is constructed out of carbon fiber and consists of a new hood, modified fascias, revised side skirts, and wheel arch extensions. Out back, there's a prominent diffuser and two rear spoilers. Furthermore, the car is equipped with 22-inch forged alloy wheels and a sport module for the air suspension which can lower the ride height by 45mm.

Under the hood, the twin-turbo 4.8-liter V8 can be equipped with a power pack that adds larger turbochargers, a revised ECU, and a stainless steel sport exhaust system. Thanks to these tweaks, the engine produces 690 PS (507 kW / 680 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 190 PS (140 kW / 187 hp) and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the Cayenne Turbo to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).

Tata has introduced the new Pixel concept at the Geneva Motor Show.

Based on the Nano, the Pixel features an attractive design with a panoramic windscreen, scissor doors, and futuristic headlights.Despite the car's compact dimensions, Tata says the cabin can comfortably seat four adults. Furthermore, the interior is relatively minimalistic but has high quality materials and a tablet-based infotainment system.

Power is provided by a rear-mounted 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbodiesel engine which is equipped with start / stop technology. Performance specifications weren't released, but Tata says the Pixel has a combined fuel economy rating of 3.4 L/100km (69.1 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 89 g/km.

As far as birthday offerings go, this one's a goodie. To mark its 110th birthday, not only is AC Cars turning up to the Geneva motor show, but it'll be bringing its latest showpiece, the AC MkVI.

The stunning newcomer is staying loyal to the design and style of an AC Cobra and although it isn't bringing anything new to the party, (it uses the 430bhp V8 unit from a Corvette, for example) the curvy muscle car will at least benefit from a new cross-Atlantic partnership with AC Germany, which sees the company that recreated the Gullwing Mercedes coupe take charge of the MkVI's production - adding a good dose of Teutonic-build quality and hand-craftsmanship to the MkVI's hefty price tag of €109,000 (that's about £93,294 and doesn't include taxes).

However, it won't just be the Germans that'll be getting their hands on AC-badged cars. An AC Heritage Centre, located at the top of the historic Brooklands test hill in Surrey, will be formally opened later this year and will be home to a production range of AC classic cars, while displays of cars and artefacts will be on show for AC fans within the Brooklands Museum Complex.

Good news across the pond, too: Iconic Motors has adopted the AC brand for its ultra-high performance car, the Iconic AC Roadster (see picture below), which comes decked out with a stonking 6.8-litre Detroit V8 that puts out an incredible 825bhp and 680lb ft, giving it a top speed of 210mph and a jaw-dropping 0-60mph time of less than three seconds.

Anyone wanting to get their Corba kicks at the Geneva motor show should make their way to stand 1035, where they'll find the AC MkVI as well as an original AC Ace - the model which became the infamous AC Cobra.

This is the new Jaguar XKR-S - an uprated version of the quietly legendary XKR. Due to make its debut at next week's Geneva motor show, the XKR-S still sports the 5.0-litre supercharged V8, but power is up from 510bhp to 542bhp. There's also a boost in torque to 501lb ft (up from 461lb ft).

The hardcore XKR-S gets a new version of Jag's brilliant adaptive dynamics suspension with uprated dampers, active sports exhaust system, and new aero to reduce lift and assist the massive brakes, which measure 380mm at the front and 376mm at the rear - bigger than a Lamborghini Murcielago's. It needs them too because top speed is 186mph, and it should hit 62mph in 4.2 seconds. Jaguar also tells us the XKR-S will emit less than 300g/km of CO2, which means it'll be top of its class in the cleanliness stakes.

The BMW Mini. Modern, popular, great to drive. But it's not very small, is it?

The Rocketman, debuting at next week's Geneva motor show, should address that most familiar complaint from fans of the original.The first BMW Minis were 12ft 2in long, more than two feet longer than the dinky originals. And this year's Countryman came in at 13ft 5in. This concept is just 11ft 3in long and 4ft 7in high. That's small.Complex hinge technology means the 3+1 set-up will also - in theory - still seat three people and in the familiar euphemism for a human the size of a baby chimpanzee, 'a fourth adult for short journeys'.

The sliding seat system gives you the option to slide the driver and passenger seat back for a 'full-blooded driving experience', slide the passenger seat forward to reveal an individual rear seat, or slide the entire front section forward to accommodate the aforementioned 'short journey adult'.The two-part boot has a lower sliding section that allows luggage to be stored in a drawer, which can be locked in various positions to increase interior space.There are other cool touches: the hooped brake lights don't illuminate, but project the brake and indicators onto the bodywork using high-output LEDs. The electronics are accessed from a trackball on the steering wheel, and in keeping with the Italian Job nostalgia, there's also a Union Jack etched into the panoramic glass roof.

No news of engine plans, only that the Rocketman will be designed to offer 'enhanced sprinting ability' with average fuel consumption of 94mpg. Which is all very easy to say at this stage, of course."We will assess reaction to the Rocketman before deciding on whether there is a case for it to be a production car," said marketing director Ian Robertson. "Mini has a great past, but the best is yet to come."
