Secunderabad, twin city of Hyderabad, was founded after an alliance between Hyderabad’s Nizam Sikander Jah and the British East India Company in 1798. Following the treaty, secured by Major James Achilles Kirkpatrick, an area north of Hussain Sagar lake was made into a cantonment. Soon after the treaty was signed 5,000 British troops arrived and camped in the new cantonment of Secunderabad, which was laid out in 1806 and named after the Nizam. Initially it encompassed an area of four square miles and had a population of 5,000 troops plus several thousand civilians. However, 60 years later it had increased to 17 square miles and had a population, including the armed forces, of 50,000.

The town continued to develop as its military functions and business opportunities drew large numbers of people from the surrounding rural areas.

It is unclear whether the winner then ripped out the losers heart and ate it but I will go ahead and assume that, yes, thatis exactly what happened.

More so, considering that both of them were taken at the exact same place -the Ngorongoro Conservation area inTanzania. Immortalized by wildlife fanatic Thomas Whetten, the scene in the picture seems pretty self-explanatory. The lion was obviously all Hey, zebra, Im a eatu, K? but then the Zebra was all like ZEBRA KARATE and wham , off goes the lions jaw. Like I said, pretty self-explanatory.

The hippo is probably the greatest secretly badass animal inhistory. Yes it is pudgy and goofy -looking, but it is also one of the fiercest and deadliest predators on the African continent. So, you had assume that other residents of Africa, like the crocodile, would have heard enough about hippos to not go out of their way to piss them off. Apparently this croc did not get the memo.
The scene captured in the image above by Vaclav Silha shows a crocodile that ventured too close to a herd of hippopotami, was quickly surrounded by them and then proceeded to lose his freaking mind. Seeing no other alternative, the outnumbered reptile actually tried to escape with his life by climbing over the attacking hippos backs.
You know what? I take back what I said about #8. This is the perfect example of an Oh crap, maybe I shouldnot have done this face.

Open the door, hippo! It is the Karma Police ! Here we see another work by Steve Bloom, this time showing a hippo who ventured a little too far away from the water and was suddenlysurrounded by a pride of lionesses, all while being presumably taunted with You havecome to the wrong neighborhood, buddy.
The gals then proceeded to maul the hippo to death and, by the looks of it, the hippo just sat there and took it like a chump. It is probably worth mentioning that the lionesses did not attack him for food or anything like that, during that time there wereloads of zebras or wildebeests around. No&amp;iexcl;&amp;shy;they apparently tortured the hippo to death just for the fun of it.

One time in Zambia, Martin Nyfeler decided to photograph a mother elephant with her child, when he captured something far more powerful: a selfless act of motherly love&amp;iexcl;&amp;shy;as a killer crocodile jumped out of the water and tried to eat the baby elephant.
His mom, luckily, was having none of that nonsense. With the powerful jaws of the crocodile locked tightly around her nose, the mother elephant began to pull the croc away as far away from her child and the water as possible. For a long time, the reptile wouldnot let go of her, probably constantly pleading with the mom with lines like Come on, I will only eat him a LITTLE. Still refusing to let the mama go, the crocodile was finally pulled out of water and the elephants made their escape. Since that day, the baby elephanthas never refused to eat all of his vegetables or brush his teeth.

1. Buffalo vs. Lions vs. Crocodiles

And to cap off this tour de fear, we have a video! This particular animal fight came to be known as The Battle at Kruger but thatis only because the people who filmed it apparently have noimagination. This thing should clearly have been called Battle Royale : Africa.
The fight was filmed in 2004 at the Transport Dam watering holein Kruger National Park, South Africa, by David Budzinski and Jason Schlosberg and, if I didnot know any better, I had swear that the whole thing was staged because it is just so perfect. The video kicks off with a couple of lions approaching a herd of Cape Buffalo and ganging up on a young calf because, as we have clearly established, lions are dicks. Then, when they accidentally knock the buffalo into the water, two crocodiles tryto muscle in on their kill, and a regular tug of war between the lions and the crocs begins.
As the young buffalo was undoubtedly pondering just howmany toddlers he must have murdered in its previous life to deserve this faith, the lions won the contest and were ready to eat the hell out of their prey. That&amp;iexcl;&amp;macr;s when the buffalo herd returned and the whole scene went from Saw to Braveheart .
The charging buffalo attacked the lions like an angry hammer of the gods, even sending one of them FLYING into the air. And here is the bizarrely happy ending: the young buffalo lived and even got to witness his herd chasing away the lingering lion, probably hurling insults at them the entire way.

This was clearly the aftermath of the allied attack. During the World War II, the allied forces where ready and eager to have their retribution on the Nazis. The only way to take revenge was to order an attack on the Nazi controlled cities and the town of Pforzheim was one of them. 5.Dresden bombing:

Another chapter in World War II, the city of Dresden was one of the strongest bases of German army. The allied forces knew that, if they had to defeat the Germans, they have to take down their strongest camp, and that was the city of Dresden. The city held the center of transportation and communication for the German troops. In four raids between 13 February and 15 February 1945, 722 heavy bombers of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) and 527 of the United States Army Air Force (USAAF) dropped more than 3,900 tons of high-explosive bombs and incendiary devices on the city, resulting in a massive wipe out, killing over 25,000people.

4.Bombing of Hamburg:

Every war has an end, and so did World War II. The city of Hamburg was one of the strongest and centre of many German army bases. During the war, the allied forces planned Project Gomorrah on the city. The word Gomorrah is from the holy book Bible, where the cities Sodom and Gomorrah was wiped by God himself against the acts of cruelty held within the city. According to the Bible, God destroyed the city by flinging huge rocks of fire from the sky. The same simulation happened to the city, as Hamburg was completely destroyed via aerial strikes. The death toll is estimated tobe over 42,600 people.

3.Nagasaki Bombing:

The final stop in World War II, the atomic bombing Nagasaki. One of the deadliest attacks ever in human race, and attack that every human being should be ashamed of, the bombing in Nagasaki was perhaps denoted as the end chapter of the deadliest war ever. After Germany's fall in Europe, the allied nations had to deal the nations in the Pacific, and Japan was the first to come up on the list. Japan refused the surrender declaration and continued fighting. On August 9 th , just days after Hiroshima bombing, the United States and the U.K together planned the next attack on the city of Nagasaki. Fat man, nickname given to the nuclear bomb, was deployed in city, which later resulted in Japanese troops to surrender. The bomb was made of Plutonium and after-mathed a demise toll of over 80,000 deaths. The attack is still considered as the one of the most critical bombings in human history. Today the city is still suffering from the after-effects of bombing.

2.Bombing of Tokyo:

The allied forces knew Japanese stronghold was at Tokyo and that was their next major target. The capital city of Japan, Tokyo, based camps of many notable generals, soldiers and fleet forces of the Japanese army. The attack was carried out by the allied forces from 1942 to 1945. Also referred as 'firebombing', the bombing started inApril 1942, as U.S. did a small raid in Tokyo. Later Strategic and Urban bombing began in 1944, which later resulted in the arrival of long range B-29 Super fortress bomber. This aircraft almost took half of Japan with its deadly ammunition capacity. Among the raid, an operation called 'Operation Meetinghouse', dated 9 to10 March, 1945 is still considered to be the single most destructive bombing raid in history.
At last in August 15, 1945 Japan surrendered. According to the Tokyo Fire Department, the death toll was over 97,000 civilians, which still is an approximate value.

The bombing in Hiroshima was the first among two of the deadliest atomic disasters in human history, Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The Allied forces had to keep Japan down, even after the yield of Germany. So they planned to destroy Japan with the first ever atomic attack. Nicknamed Little Boy, the bomb composed of highly combustible Uranium as the fuel, and had a very high rate of impact. The bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima on 6 th August 1945, which later was followed by the bombing in Nagasaki, on 9 th August. The bombing in Hiroshima took more than 160,000 lives, both involving those who have been killed upon impact, and those who have experienced the post effects of the radiation. Medical reports say that today the city is still suffering as a result of the after effects from bombing.
Later after these bombings, Japan officially signed the pact called the Instrument of Surrender, which officially ended up the World War II.

Thank you, Google, for always reminding me whose birthday it is... September 13th, 1819, Clara Josephine Wieck, a German musician and composer, was born. Considered one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic era, her career lasted some 61-years. She was married to the composer, Robert Schumann.

The intensity in her eyes that tell us that this woman was an individual of immense character. Sadly, four of her eight children and her husband died before she did, with her husband and Ludwig dying in insane asylums due to mental illness. Her first male son, Emil, died at 1-year old, her daughter, Julie, and son, Ferdinand, both died young leaving behind young children, which she raised.

Despite the tragedies that befell her family and the eventual loss of confidence from which she suffered after not having time to compose, she continued to perform most her entire life. She was the first to perform her pieces purely from memory, a skill learned at a young age. She had been taught to play by ear and perform from memory, which she began doing publicly from the age of 13 forward.

The bravery and steadfastness of her expression harmoniously agrees with her actions, from which we may know of her character. During the May Uprising in Dresden in 1849, she famously walked into the city across front lines, defied a group of armed men who confronted her, went in and rescued her children, then walked them out of the city, right back through the danger zone.

Despite my familiarity with her work, I would not have thought of her were it not for the generous reminders presented by Google...supported, in part, by Wikipedia (the site people claim to dislike but visit almost daily for information).

So, not a funny ha-ha post this morning, but a soft chuckle in knowing that I received this information from a Search Engine... we speak of robustness and global control with respect to search engines, but rarely do we speak of personal growth in the same context.

So, Clara, on behalf of myself and an entire world that uses Google, we wish you a very happy birthday (Alles Gute zum Geburtstag) ...
