style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">

It seems that the phone isn't, quite dead yet, with the launch of the last "Star" "touch screen phone, the Samsung 3 star and Samsung Star 3 DUETAH. 3 star is not a million miles away from last year/Star II or y Galaxy in terms of features. It fails s worth, pointing out that the Star II though that currently sells for about € 80 a SIM-free, much cheaper than € 120 y's Galaxy, so we can expect a 3 star, to be under € 100.

3 display is "Panel 240 × 320 pixels, behind a 3.2 megapixel camera. 3 stars lacked supporting 3 g, but comes with WiFi and edge instead. There are of GPS, and isn3 star 't smart, although it supports a range of social media, Web apps

The DUOS adds dual-SIM support, but we would recommend that extends the most capable Galaxy Y DUOS if you can. Just 95 grams, the 3 stars is pretty lightweight. The Star measures 3102 x 58 x 12 mm, has a 1000 mAh battery and also supports microSD expandable memory and Bluetooth.

3 Star sales opportunity is likely to cost, because it has support for 3 G, GPS or ' t, then it doesn't have much cheaper than it would have its low-end smartphone. But we suspect that most customers would prefer an Android or Bada device instead. Star 3 should be available to Russia this month, followed by the rest of the world's most

Samsung is purportedly preparing to send two new Android
phones in the United Kingdom, prepared in Central and upper area. Although they
are not "News", as they were both formerly announced, this is the
first time, when we have verification on the national version for one of them.

First is the Samsung Galaxy ACE announced, just before the
start of CES 2012 plus, a phone, and blessed with a design, the shrilly similar
to the Apple iPhone 3 g/3Gs. An update now aging Galaxy ACE, it comes with a 3,
65-inch screen, a 5 megapixel camera and a 1 GHz processor.

Vodafone has announced its objective to carry the Galaxy one
positive from February, with prices also announced it would join with 710 Lumia
Nokia and BlackBerry Bold 9790 as new arrivals and network might prove accepted
as one of the original.

Then we got the Samsung HD II S Galaxy that appeared in an
advertisement for an online retailer, telling is headed our way quite speedily.
Interesting here is that until now, the S-II HD is your LTE available only in
the United States.

Of course, the UK version of the phone will come without
it's LTE radio, so what else makes this variant specifically? Quite a lot actually, because it has a 1.5
GHz dual-core processors, 4.65 inches touch screen with a resolution of 720 p
and a hefty 1850mAh battery.

That is a nice bump spec over standard Galaxy S II, and with
the Galaxy S III should give an emergence at Mobile World Congress, at the end
of next month, a launch of HD beside it will line-up of Samsung top very
amazing.

Along with ZTE Huawei is one of two Chinese producers that look like they're going to have a good year 2012. Both companies have been successful in obtaining phones on the market in 2011, or branded with the names of carriers, or more recently under their own names, too.

Huawei, in particular, has made a few nice smartphones top range, and (on paper at least) the new Huawei Ascend P1 and Ascend P1 S handsets are two of very high-quality devices that challenge the leaders of the class.

Huawei say that these will be Android 4.0 ( "Ice Cream Sandwich " or "ICS") devices at launch and press photos certainly show a device ICS, rather than an Android phone 2.3. Other manufacturers are late with implementation ICS and Huawei can also get a competitive advantage here.

Huawei P1 and P1 S coming with 4.3 "960 x 540 pixel super AMOLED touchscreen with a layer of Gorilla glass, 1.5 GHz dual core processor, 8 megapixel camera on the back with 1080p video capture capability and 1.3 megapixel one at the front for video calls.

The standard P1 is somewhat thicker in 7.69 mm, but comes with battery 1800 mAh more large in comparison to a battery's mAh 1670 in the thinnest phone. The P1 S weighs only 110 grams, with the largest P1 arriving even respectable 130 grams.

The back of the phone is covered with a material called PPVD to help dissipate the heat, and this comes in a variety of colors, including black metal, ceramic white and pink cherry blossom. P1 and P1 aren 't responsible climb ' t exactly was pretty, but we think "wow factor" will be how thin they are

All the usual features of Android here as 3.5 G connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. We don 't , for the time being, you know how much RAM is available or what is flash memory configuration.

Huawei say that Ascend P1 and P1 (S) should be available worldwide beginning in April 2012.

The manufacturer hasn said how much these smartphones will cost, but we must imagine that Huawei will be eager to undermine competition to achieve its presence in international markets.

The mobile phone is now considered an essential element of daily life, used on working hours, to update with social and even networks catch up on your favourite TV shows. In short, your phone is an excellent tool to help you in the day.

But what if your day includes a cocktail party in St. Tropez? Or a movie premiere in Manhattan? Your Huawei Blaze cut may not be the among the Glitterati, so we have compiled an update to our top ten list of the world's most desirable handset to showcase the ultimate mobile status symbols …

10 – Ulysse Nardin Edition diamond (£ 83,000) President

The President of the understated Diamond Edition with Swiss manufacturer Ulysse Nardin features subtle connection over 2000 diamonds, he White Gold and quite honestly ridiculous self-winding mechanism for reverse charge rate. The handset is sufficiently decent smartphone credentials, 32 GB of storage, a 3.2-inch touchscreen and Android running engine. You will have to hurry if you are thinking about the bags of one, as only 100 will be produced.

9 – Sony Ericsson Black Diamond (£ 162,000)

Black Diamond comes from the workshop of Singaporean designer Jaren Goh and is actually an impressive looking handset. Gathered from the ultra-exclusive materials such as Titanium with polycarbonate and mirror-finish cladding, phone surely goes on tour. However, the specification, including a 400 MHz processor and 4 megapixel camera seems a bit under-nourished on a device that costs the same as a townhouse.

8 – Vertu signature Cobra (£ 167,567)

Vertu, a brand of choice for billionaires, really gone to town with the Cobra signature. In connection with the French jeweler Boucheron is this phone about bling and features one PEAR cut diamond, round white diamond, two Emerald eyes and 439 rubies. Ugly mixture of somwhat is limited to 8 mobile phones, so we cannot expect that a full review soon (thankfully).

7-Goldvish Le million 7-(£ 640, 000)

For a long time considered the world's most expensive mobile phone, Le million even found its way into the Guinness Book of worlds Records. Done in Geneva from 18-carat white gold with 19th century PLUMBING-1 grade diamonds for a total of 120 carats, you could say that this device is targeted at exhibitionists, albeit very wealthy ones. The Tech spec travel a lot to be desired though, with only a 2-megapixel camera and no 3 G capability.

6-Gresso Luxor Las Vegas Jackpot (£ 641,000)

Much like its namesake from the hotel, the Jackpot in Las Vegas's Luxor of Gresso is said to combine the treasures of the ancient Egypt and modern aesthetics of Las Vegas. Basically, which means a lot of gold, diamonds and timber. Yes, wood. Handset features rear a panel that has been produced 200 – year old African Blackwood, with a case in pure gold, 45.5 k Black diamonds and 17 laser engraved sapphires. Classy.

5 – diamond Crypto Smartphone (£ 834,000)

Another mobile handset in the world's most expensive melt for a short time, this link between the Russian company "Ankara the Joint Security Committee" and the jeweller of celebrity Peter alwison evolution "Smartphone Swiss encryption". And more important than the technology that makes the phone from Platinum and made the key move of gold 18-carat rose, which also covered with diamond-cut round 28. Handset only run Windows CE though, where I'd probably struggle to update your Facebook status.

4 – Peter Aloisson iPhone 3 G Kings button (£ 1.5 million)

Another creation of the Austrian-based Aloisson, the iPhone 3 iPhone 3 g Kings button is a fierce handset the likes of which Steve Jobs never considered. The Apple-based smartphone is made of solid 18-carat yellow, white and rose gold encrusted all 138 brilliant cut diamonds. The real piece the resistance, however, is the ultra-rare 6.6 carat-diamond that serves as the home button phones and apparently carries "rare beauty with history". We are pretty sure you can still double-tap to bring up the your open apps.

3 – Goldstriker iPhone 3GS Supreme (1.9 million pounds)

Following is another iPhone, this time for specialists of Goldstriker International luxury goods. Commissioned by an anonymous Australian gold mining magnate, the Supreme contains 136 flawless f color diamonds, 271 grams of 22 carat solid gold and button navigation of a single cut diamond, 7.1 carats. Goldstriker Web site says that the phone comes completely unlocked, at least the new owner can get a good value contract only SIM phone.

2-Stuart Hughes iPhone 4 Diamond Rose (£ 5 million)

Another iPhone makes appearance at number 2, this time with studies of UK designer Stuart Hughes. 32 GB Apple handset is decked out with 500 different seamless, 100 a carat of diamonds around the edges, as well as increased Golden Apple logo with 53 more diamonds. Another portion of the Center navigation button, which consists of a single 7.4-Carat Pink Diamond cutting appears. Evidence remained elusive and 554 diamonds in your mobile phone actually improve reception above the rubber.

1-Stuart Hughes, iPhone 3s Patricks Gold (6 million pounds)

Stain our somewhat ostentatious list is yet another iPhone, this time, 4S, diamond and gold will come again from the fanatic Stuart Hughes. Handset functions (quite surprisingly) 500 white diamonds, which total more than 100 carats, diamonds, the Apple logo making up 53. Basis of 24 carat gold and home is 2,6 Carat Solitaire small diamonds, which may be carried as one additional 7.4 Carat pink diamond cut should be enclosed in a mood to you. Diamond tiara for Siri is, if we are aware, does not belong.

And finally, while the Nokia Lumia 800 has a unique curved piece of Corning Glass Gorilla on its beautiful AMOLED 3.7 inch Panel, which appears to raise the screen images, the Nokia Lumia 900 opts instead for a flat screen.

Originally heading for AT & T in the United States, the HTC Titan II is an update to the Titan announced several months ago, but this time with 4 g LTE support and the highest resolution camera is any device Windows Phone that we've seen to date.

4 g technologies are a big deal in the United States at the time with the carriers and manufacturers pushing devices LTE and HSPA +. The TITAN II follows this trend, so if you live in an area of coverage LTE then you can potentially get very fast download speeds. If you don 't t have LTE and then TITAN II also covers HSPA + and UMTS as well. Handily, the TITAN II should work quite happily in Europe and throughout the world due to comprehensive network support.

Another key improvement over the original TITAN is the camera, as the TITAN II boasts a 16 Megapixel snapper on the back. We said before megapixel counts aren't so important, and somehow we doubt that the photos are really twice as good as the original TITAN.

Most of the other functions are unchanged – TITAN grabs a large 4 7 II "480 x 800 pixel display, it has a 1.5 GHz processor, Windows phone 7.5 running 16 GB of internal flash memory and the handset." II has the TITAN of WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, plus a 3.5 mm audio jack and GPS.

Another small improvement is the battery, the cell 1730 mAh replaces the old 1600 mAh unit. TITAN II measures 5.2 x 2.7 x 0.4 inches and weighs 5.2 ounces (or around 132 x 69 x 10 mm and 147 grams).

HTC said that TITAN-II should be available for AT & T "in future months ". We do not see any particular reason why this handset should be limited to AT & T, so there is a good possibility, it may be ' rolled out a given other LTE don market too.

The 16-Megapixel camera has an aperture F 2.6, which is ideal for shooting in low light environments. It also has a backlit illuminated sensor. The camcorder can shoot up to 720 p resolution video. Since the Titan-2 has a single-core processor, it may not support 1080p HD video recording.

Last year, we waited and waited for the iPhone 5 and never showed. This, of course, certainly, it has been designed for completion in 2012?

We reckon so-and so does in the rumour mill.

In 2011 we have finished the iPhone were placed, after interminable iPhone 5 rumors – there were so many, in fact, that the receiver has in Google's top 10 most-searched terms last year! But firmly expected to be revealed at some point this year.

There was word that would come in the autumn of 2012 with a brand new design and larger display of the next-generation iPhone at the rear end of last year.

So, Apple fans, let's embrace all wonderful and investigate rumors when the elusive iPhone 5 is likely to land.

When will it be available?

Ah, the million dollar question. Before the current model, the company last October unveiled by Apple with the newest version of the presentation during its Worldwide Developers Conference (wwdc) June – set a trend in the past, its smart, original iPhone 3GS and announced the 4 models had seen at the moment. And we suspect Apple will return after this tradition in the intervening years.

One purported reason for the iPhone 5 never showed in 2011 is that there was not enough time to release it in time for the popular feasts so Apple shifted its attention were placed.

Now show recent rumors iPhone 5 will be released during the summer or early autumn. According to the note, written in the week, Morgan Stanley analyst Keith Huberty, the new iPhone will come "later this year» – is at the end of Q2, which corresponds to the expectations.

Pricing?

Details is naturally sparse at this stage but we suspect the iPhone 5 prices must be along the same lines as the 4S model. So if Apple released three versions of longer (16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB) You can expect monthly transaction to start from £ 35 to 16 GB handset free, or from £ 29 per month with a £ 300 + upfront fee for telephone 64 GB/from £ 35 monthly payments for under £ 200 upfront fee.

Will be called iPhone 5?

In all likelihood, Yes, but nothing is certain and there is no chance Apple can christen is something else, such as the iPhone (6).

Specifications?

This is where things get really interesting, because the thought, the next Apple device may be quite distinct from the new design, a larger screen and quad-core processor.

Research firm Morgan Stanley said that the iPhone will get 5 leaner, more powerful, with support of 3 g and 4 G, LTE capabilities, a quad-core chip from Qualcomm and 4 inches.

The guys over at Appleinsider is a Word that the analyst Kate Huberty said in the, quad-core-processor, that it would be able to "carry out all of the 3 G and LTE network flavors" as a source of power in the coming iPhone. However, he added, was "too early to know for sure".

It doesn't seem realistic that a device is the iPhone 5 quad core, however, as other smartphones with the power of 2012 is expected may well publish your headset HTC – quad core at MWC next month, so we expect that Apple will catch.

Hubert also had this to say: "what about iPhone 5 is clear that Apple and the supply chain are positively surprised by the demand for iPhone 4S, that confidence in strong sales for iPhone 5 increases later this year. On the whole supply chain looks stronger than the growth of the market for both the iPhone (50% + y/y vs. market 20-30%) and the iPad (20-40% growth, higher with a lower priced iPad 2). "

All speculation points to the root change in style for the next iPhone is different from the current iPhone 4S that successful iPhone 4 and focus on internal improvements as the Piper Jaffray Bloomberg report analyst Gene Munster writes in a research note earlier this week that highlighted his survey, the majority of iPhone users have ever thought of buying a new version – and with a new design may 5 to "upgrade to Monster"

In order to make sure I stayed tuned all iPhone 5 rumors, there will be rain more theories to surface!

We will of course keep you informed of developments, but in the meantime, would love to hear your views about this – what features are you hoping Apple will include in the iPhone 5?

Nokia has officially unveiled the Lumia, the third phone in the range Lumia 900 and the new high end model. It is a product only to the United States for the moment, but we would bet a bag of gums wine a virtually identical to this handset will return to the United Kingdom before too long. But it is worth taking offshore buying Lumia 800 for? We took the new Lumia for a spin to find out.

Differences between 800 and 900 Nokia Lumia Lumia new model has a larger screen of 2.7 – instead of 4 g lte connectivity 3.7 in – and. So the UK desperately our U.S. cousins 4 g front behind this model are our chances of coming to the shores of recently. Now, this is an exclusive at & t stateside.

Set aside these two differences are made at the end of the menu bar at the top of all in his power to keep a consistent design personality Lumia. All on the basis of polycarbonate unibody frame. It is plastic but may have never highly desirable phone plastic composition design.

The gripping, there is no mistaking his Supreme Lumia 900, build quality and finish is much more durable than most phones. Polycarbonate frame color is consistent all the way through the body. Scratch the surface and you will not see a white layer underneath a layer of plastic painted exterior. Treat it means and it should maintain its color.

The simplicity of the other defining characteristic Lumia 900 design. Just two sewing the edges and not handsome bears, and a microUSB charging headset socket – and there are for data transfer. This is a pretty thin skin, and with purity, 11.5 mm thickness, help to make the slim-line 4.3 in compact feel device number.

HTC has done its bit for improved audio on smart phones by
inking a deal with
Beats Audio -- the company fronted by hip-hop legend
Dr Dre -- which produces hi-fi quality headphones.
So far, two handsets incorporate the technology and this, the
HTC Sensation XL is the biggest one (the other's the Sensation XE),
measuring a really rather vast 133x71x10mm and weighing 163g.
Design
The phone needs to be that big to incorporate the 4.7-inch screen,
which dominates the front and starts to hint at mini tablet status.
That screen is impressively huge, and although quite sharp, could
be a little sharper. The 800x480-pixel resolution is the kind
you'll find on many smaller screens these days, and when stretched
out to this size it loses some of its sharpness.
Colours aren't as vivid and contrast isn't as pronounced as
you'll get on the best screens, such as the iPhone, Samsung's Super AMOLED models, or even
HTC's other Beats-packing handset, the
Sensation XE, either. That said, it's still very good, and the
sheer size of the display means it's great for viewing movies,
reading ebooks or browsing the web, and there's no problem with the
capacitive screen's sensitivity, making it a joy to use.
Sound quality
The Beats headphones include high-quality aluminium casings, and
noise-isolating grommets which expand to fit your ear. The branding
may come from Beats, but the technology is from Monster, the
cable company that has already done several high-profile headphone
deals with music stars including Lady Gaga and Gwen Stefani.
Bass in particular is a marked improvement over what we've come
to expect from supplied headphones -- deep and rumbling, but
controlled, so it never sounds thuggish, though it does tend to
dominate. This bass-heavy leaning does mean that it tends to favour
electronic dance music -- throw on some acoustic jazz or classical
and there's the feeling that you're not getting a true depiction of
the midrange, though there's plenty of detail on offer, and the
high end sounds beautifully crisp. You can choose whether or not to
enable the Beats Audio technology though it's unlikely that once
you've tried it you'll want to do without it.
Camer and performance
The 8-megapixel camera comes with an exceptionally bright dual LED
flash, autofocus and face detection and is one of the better
snappers you'll find on an HTC phone. It will record video at 720p
HD and there's also a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front for video
calls.
The phone is running the recent (but not quite latest) 2.3.5
Gingerbread version of Android, and
nips along nicely thanks to the 1.5GHz processor backed by 768MB
RAM. Disappointingly, there's no microSD card slot for extra
memory, so you're stuck with the 16GB it has on board. The
large 1,600mAh battery copes with the big screen and fast processor
but doesn't excel -- you'll get the usual day or so of heavy use
but not much more.
Conclusion
The big screen and enhanced audio position the Sensation XL as a
favourite for media monkeys and it delivers some great visuals and
sound. It's a hefty pocketful however, and you could argue that
other high-end phones can offer sharper screens and you could
improve the audio of your existing handset by adding a better pair
of headphones. Still, it's an impressively capable handset, and
you're unlikely to be disappointed. But if you're looking for a
close alternative, consider the
HTC Sensation XE.

Two dual-SIM variations of existing Android phones, the Samsung
Galaxy Y DUOS and Samsung Galaxy Y Pro DUOS look very
different but are aiming at roughly the same market segment.

The "Y" in the handset names indicates that this is
            a low-end device (remember "SRWMY - Samsung
Really Wants My Yak"). The current non-DUOS versions retail
for less than €150, and we don't expect there to be a huge price
            hike with these dual-SIM versions.

The
            Galaxy Y Pro DUOS has a 2.6" 320 x 240 pixel touchscreen display,
a QWERTY keyboard, a five megapixel camera on the back and a front-facing
camera for video calling (which the standard phone lacks), plus
dual-SIM capabilities. The handset runs Android 2.3, although in
our opinion you might struggle to use some common Android applications because
of the small size of the touchscreen. It looks almost identical
            to the standard Galaxy
            Y Pro.

If you compare the more conventional touchscreen Galaxy
Y and Galaxy Y DUOS the differences are rather more marked. The
DUOS version of the Galaxy Y has a bigger screen (3.15" compared
            to 3.0") with 240 x 320 pixels resolution, an improved 3 megapixel
camera on the back (the original has 2 megapixels) and a smarter
design. Again, this is an Android 2.3 device with dual-SIM support.

Dual-SIM devices such as this are popular in some markets and
very rare in others. In particular, Russian consumers like phones
like this and it is not surprising that these DUOS devices will
be available there first, later this month. Other countries will
follow, and hopefully Samsung will make more DUOS phones available
            in the months to come.

The MOTOLUXE is already available in China as XT615 and sports a 4-inch edge-to-edge 480×854 pixel display, 8.0 MP rear and VGA front cameras, 800 MHz processor and 512MB RAM/1GB ROM. It runs on a new Gingerbread update 2.3.7. Considering its specs, we think the MOTOLUXE will be priced in the Rs 20,000-25,000 range if and when it is launched in India. The Defy Mini, on the other hand, will certainly be an entry-level rugged Android smartphone that runs on Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread), has a 3.2-inch 320×480 pixel display, a 600 MHz processor, a 3.0 MP rear and VGA front camera and 512MB of ROM and RAM. Like the Defy, it will also be shock, water and dust resistant.

Source- BGR

The Apple iPad 3 is expected to hit the market very soon. Insiders are even reporting a new Apple Tablet could be beating the UK as before time as 2012! The iPad 3 is the very much estimated tablet device to be coming to the UK. Almost 70% of the Tablet enquires we receive is almost definitely aim in the trend of Apple's new toy.

So it's not going to be a Christmas release, but given that Apple would possibly want to shift their old stock during the Christmas rush, an early 2012 release was almost certainly going to be anticipated.

These reports come to us by Digitimes, who claim that “OEM production of iPad 2 will remain high at 14-15 million units in the fourth quarter of 2011 but decline to 4-5 million units in the first quarter of 2012, paving the way for the launch of the new iPads is ipad 3 or ipad 4, the sources noted.”

Apple are still and will remain very tight lipped about the new iPad 3 as they usually do, so I hope you wasn’t in the family way to get any official release dates out of this blog :)

I guess the question that is on everyone's lips would be, what can we expect to see featured in the iPad 3? We guesswork has led us to believe that the iPad 3 will support a 2048 x 1536 pixel Retina Display, Cupertino’s next-gen A6 CPU, iOS 5, front and rear-facing HD cameras and a all new design and new look, more features compare to ipad 2 and ipad, which we can only dream about at this stage to see.

flagship Windows Phone, likely to be called the Lumia 900, at CES in Las
  Vegas next week.

The new device is likely to be similar to the current top model, the Lumia
800, but will feature a larger screen, at 4.3” rather than 3.7”.

Nokia is hoping to
  build on the positive
critical reaction that the Lumia 800 garnered when it was launched in
London at the end of last year. Sources at retailers, however, say that
while sales have risen, Nokia’s marketing blitz, based around the slogan
“The amazing everyday”, has not provided the hoped for gear change.

Microsoft's new
Windows Phone platform uses an interface built on 'tiles' which both link to
applications and display some information themselves. It is aimed in large
part at users who are upgrading to a smartphone for the first time.

The US market, in particular, is vital to the success both of Windows
Phone as a platform and to the resurgence of the Finnish handset
manufacturer. The company's press conference at the CES
2012 electronics show in Las Vegas will also launch a US marketing push.
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop referred to the Lumia 800 as "the first real
Windows Phone", but it has not been launched in America.

The new Lumia 900 is likely to be marketed by AT&T in America as the Nokia
Ace, although it is currently using the codename Eloko, according to Pocketnow.com.
  BGR.com reported
late last year that “The handset will reportedly feature a 1.4GHz processor,
a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display and an 8-megapixel camera, and it will
ship with Windows Phone “Tango.” It now, however, appears that the phone
will, initially at least, use the current ‘Mango’ build of Windows Phone.

For the last years Apple, HTC, Samsung has set the bench mark for their improvement with mobile phones; in 2012 this is going to be the case once more. The touch screen cell phone is all the rage these days. Using this hot interface makes flipping through photos, navigating around web pages, selecting options and even typing, into a series of elegant gestures. The New mobile phones 2012 range from Samsung, HTC and Nokia is going to be their best yet by a long way as they try to give us handsets to surpass Apple!
Even the low end niche doesn't have as many phones!

If you want to get one of the most powerful smartphones to last you several years and more (beyond the contract), Christmas is the perfect time to do it - you can get yourself or your family and relatives a nice present, and the prices are discounted for the duration of the holidays, as well. And if you're already choosing a phone, you should know about the LG Nitro HD and the HTC Rezound, two very similar phones on different networks (AT&T and Verizon, respectively) and with slight differences in features that you should take into consideration.

Exterior design and the display

Both the Nitro HD and the Rezound are very similar when it comes to exterior design, actually. Both of them have the same form factor and overall look, with rounded edges, and a relatively ordinary finish. Both phones are made of quality materials, and unlike the Galaxy S2, which is mostly plastic, they're mostly metal with some plastic parts, which are also very sturdy. The screen is covered with sturdy Gorilla glass, which is very scratch resistant, and while the Nitro HD is slightly longer and wider, it is also thinner than the Rezound, which makes them feel pretty much the same in your hand.

The displays on both smartphones are simply great - both of them have a 1280×720 pixels resolution, although the 4.3 inch size of the Rezound means that it has a higher pixel density - not that it matters, since you can't distinguish individual pixels even on the Nitro HD's 4.5 inch screen. HTC's Super LCD and LG's IPS technologies are both great, but the IPS wins at color reproduction and viewing angles, although the HTC is not that far behind.

Hardware features and performance

The spec sheets for both the HTC Rezound and LG Nitro HD are very similar. Both phones also feature the same cameras - an 8 megapixels shooter on the back that can take 1080p videos at 30 FPS, and a 1.3 megapixels front facing unit for video calling. Of course, there's the usual Wifi N, Bluetooth 3.0 EDR, GPS, DLNA, HDMI out, audio jack, USB port, and the 4G LTE radio, which isn't all that useful at the moment, but the potential is there for extremely high data connection speeds - you'll just have to wait for AT&T or Verizon to expand the network. The drawback of LTE, however, is a significantly higher power consumption, which leads to about 5-7 hours of battery life tops if you leave it on all the time.

The smartphones use the same 1.5 GHz, dual core Qualcomm processor with the new Adreno 220 graphics adapter and 1 GB of RAM, giving them pretty much the same performance in apps and games, although the customizations done by the manufacturers and carriers may affect the overall feel of the device.

There is a difference in the amount of storage space you have on the phone - while HTC was kind enough to include 16 GB of onboard memory, LG only provides 4 GB of internal space, of which about 2 GB is occupied by the system and is not user accessible.

Software

zoth the HTC Rezound and LG Nitro HD run on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, and while it's a very good version of the OS, it's not even close to the newer Ice Cream Sandwich. But unless you're in a real hurry to use the latest and greatest version of Android (in which case you'll need the Galaxy Nexus), you can wait a few months until HTC and LG release an update, which they definitely will. The custom UI on each phone is pretty good (especially HTC Sense), but it's a matter of taste - you can always install your own preferred home screen app.

As I already said, both the LG Nitro HD and the HTC Rezound are great choices for a high end smartphone, and if you need the dual core power and high resolution, be sure to check them out.

During the last few weeks, Apple (AAPL) and Samsung (SSNLF.PK) have carefully orchestrated everything possible to maximize 4Q smartphone sales. Apple continues to take the high road with its latest iPhone 4S ad showing Santa getting a little help from Siri (video). Samsung, however, has taken another road with a parody of the iPhone 4S (video).
Yet Samsung hasn't stopped there. This quarter, Samsung launched a barrage of at least six new smartphones to chisel away at the monumental iPhone 4S sales expected during the holiday season. Here’s a brief snapshot of each:

Last week, Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus was launched with Verizon and has nearly the same bells and whistles a consumer can find on the iPhone 4S. Although the 4.65-inch display is not likely to appeal to women - because of its size. At $299.99 in a 32GB configuration with a new two-year agreement, this competes head-to-head with Apple’s 32GB iPhone 4S which is priced at $299.

At the end of November, Samsung launched the Illusion™ smartphone through Verizon’s online story even though it won’t be available until January within Verizon stores. At $79.99 with a two-year agreement, it refreshes the mid-tier of smartphones and provides a price point slightly less than Apple’s iPhone4 (8GB) which is priced at $99 with a new two-year agreement. Samsung’s Illusion has 2GB of memory pre-installed; the user would need to purchase a microSD™ card separately that could allow it to expand to as much as 32GB of support.

Early in November, Samsung launched the Galaxy S™ Skyrocket™ with AT&T featuring 4G LTE speeds ($249.99 with two-year contract). Samsung also launched the Focus S ($199 with two-year contract) and Focus Flash ($49 with two-year contract) during the same time period – two Windows-based handsets.

In October, Samsung launched the Stratosphere™ with Verizon ($139.99 with two-year contract), the first 4G LTE smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard.

Samsung launched all of these to combat Apple’s new tiered offering of the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. Yet, at least for 2011, it won’t be enough to slow down the iPhone 4S momentum because consumers still care about:

Apps: Apple has 500,000 Apps versus 200,000 available on the Android market.

Streaming Music: iTunes Match streaming music service allows a 25,000 track limit versus Google Music, which has an upper limit of 20,000 songs.

Simplicity: Despite the advances of Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich software that debuted on Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus smartphone, Apple’s Siri enhancement makes the iPhone 4S even easier to use than before.

Battery life: Now that the iPhone 4S has enabled a normal battery life with it’s iOS upgrade, a user would need to carry a charger to get a full day’s worth of battery life with Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus; recent tests show that one could only expect about four hours of usage under 4G conditions.

So which company has the edge for 4Q? According to IDC reports, Nokia (NOK), Apple (AAPL) and Samsung (SSNLF.PK) rank 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the year-to-date smartphone market share race. Give the apples-to-apples comparison of offerings and features above, the trends point to Apple.
The YTD snapshot of smartphone market share is shown below. (Click to enlarge)

Here’s what we know about the 4Q outlook and quarterly trends:

RIM (RIMM) reported last week that 4Q 2011 smartphone shipments will be in the range of 11 million to 12 million units; it will mark the first quarter-to-quarter decline in six years during the holiday shopping season;

On October 31, HTC (HTCKF.PK) reported that it expects to ship 12 million to 13 million smartphones in the fourth quarter- its first quarter-on-quarter drop in shipments since the first quarter of 2010.

Nokia sales have tapered off to a range of 16 million to 17 million shipments per quarter.

The “Others” category, the growing herd of Android smartphone clones, has grown from a quarterly increase of 5 million shipments per quarter to an increase of 8 million shipments per quarter.

Setting those players aside, we know that it’s a two-horse race toward smartphone market share leadership between Apple and Samsung. Samsung has been growing an astounding 200% to 300% year-on-year for all three quarters of 2011. Apple has been growing an average of 80% YOY per quarter, including the 3Q anomaly. If you exclude the 3Q, Apple has been growing an average of 125% YOY.
So to keep all data points consistent with IDC’s annual forecast of smartphones, the conservative market share scenario shows the following: (Click to enlarge)

The collective trends cited above would lead to Apple earning the gold medal for the 2011 smartphone race even though Samsung could have the edge for 4Q sales. Apple’s upside opportunity, however, is far greater because:

There was pent up demand for iPhone 4S that was not satisfied during the 3Q,

For the first time in the Apple vs. Samsung bout, Apple positioned a low tier offering of the iPhone 3GS for free (or for $1 in certain states).

Apple launched Siri that was dubbed as an intelligent assistant for adults with no other comparison in the marketplace. Yet Siri also became an entertaining companion for teens.

Thus, Apple iPhone sales will minimally revert back to the average growth that Apple achieved during the 1st and 2nd quarters- about 125%. That growth rate would yield a result of about 36 million iPhones to be sold during 4Q – and Apple would earn the winning prize for smartphone market share leadership in 4Q and for 2011. The projected upside would represent an estimated $4.5 billion of sales. That would be a memorable Season’s Greetings for Apple to deliver on top of its projected gift to shareholders of another record earnings to come.
HTC Rhyme Smartphone Review

Over the past few months we have seen some handsets from HTC which very much pushed the boundaries in the Android marketplace. The Sensation was a high end dual core handset which was release to compete at the top of the market and the Evo 3D took a similar specification and added stereoscopic 3D functionality for the true hardware enthusiast. Both products scored well with the Sensation being praised for its great performance and high level of build quality.

The Rhyme is a departure for HTC from previous handsets in terms of form and function. When looking at this model we cannot help being struck by its unique styling and it's out of the ordinary, for HTC at least, colour and bundled accessories. This is a very deliberate attempt by HTC to target their product at a specific consumer type, but how does it stack up? We will take a look at the HTC Rhyme today and find out if it is a handset of substance or just form over function.

Packaging and Bundle

Our initial reaction to the packaging of the HTC Rhyme was that it is very much reminiscent of the style used on perfume bottles. The plum coloured box is twice the size of the normal HTC retail packaging and has no images of the handset on it. On the right side of the box we find small plum coloured fabric loop which acts as the handle for a lighter coloured drawer.

Once we pull the drawer out, we find the handset suspended on a cardboard shelf above some of the accessories with the other accessories located in an adjacent compartment.

The bundled accessories consisted of a Quick Start guide, Safety and Regulation guide, Warranty Statement, international contact sheet, Optional Accessories guide, USB cable, mains adapter, plum coloured flat cable earphones and a cream phone cover.

Also bundled with the Rhyme are a plum coloured "Charm" and a Docking Station.

The phone "Charm" consist of an approximately 75cm long braided cable with a 1cm cube at one end. The "Charm" clips into the 3.5mm socket on the top of the phone and emits a soft glow when we receive a call or text message.

The Docking Station is slightly larger than the handset and has a concave surface enabling us to place the handset inside where it rests at a 45° angle, slightly taller than flush. The Docking Station allows us to charge the phone but it is also intended to enable us to transform the phone into an alarm clock and music centre.
Choosing between the Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC Sensation XE for your business is far from easy. Both are stunning smartphones, so let’s see how they compare.
The HTC Sensation XE is one of the Taiwanese brand’s latest powerful smartphones, built for pretty much any task – whether it be work or pleasure. The Nokia Lumia 800 is the phone Nokia that hopes will set a new standard in Nokia phones. And, it’s one of Nokia’s fastest yet. But can it cut it in the corporate world? Here’s a side-by-side look at both handsets.

HTC Sensation XE v Nokia Lumia 800: power

For getting things done, both the HTC Sensation XE and Nokia Lumia 800 are worth considering. The HTC Sensation XE sports a very quick 1.5GHz processor. This means that apps, documents and spreadsheets load quickly so that you spend less time waiting around, and more time doing the things that are most important. The Nokia Lumia 800 is just as capable. It has a 1.4GHz processor. Technically that makes it the slower of the pair, but most users will barely notice any difference between the two.

HTC Sensation XE v Nokia Lumia 800: screen

Screen size and quality is pretty important when it comes to using a phone for business. It’s likely you’ll spend a lot of time looking at it, so any screen will need to be large enough, and of high quality. Both the HTC Sensation XE and Nokia Lumia 800’s screens tick all the boxes when it comes to quality. But for that extra bit of screen real estate, the HTC Sensation XE is superior for working on. Its 4.3-inch screen (compared with the 3.7-inches of the Nokia Lumia 800) is great for viewing spreadsheets without having to strain for a closer look.

HTC Sensation XE v Nokia Lumia 800: memory

You’re going to need a healthy amount of storage to get the most out of your handset. Out of the box the Nokia Lumia 800 looks the more attractive proposition. Its 16GB mass memory appears to dwarf the 4GB of the HTC Sensation XE. However, the Lumia 800’s absence of any micro-SD card slot means 16GB is the limit of its storage. The HTC Sensation on the other hand can be upgraded via microSD card to house 32GB of storage – twice that of the Nokia Lumia 800.

HTC Sensation XE v Nokia Lumia 800: camera

Both The HTC Sensation XE and Nokia Lumia 800 carry reputable 8-megapixel cameras. The downside to the Nokia Lumia 800 is that it does not feature a front-facing camera – so video conferencing is out of the question. But if video calls don’t matter to you, the Nokia Lumia 800, with its Carl Zeiss lens, takes the better photos.

HTC Sensation XE v Nokia Lumia 800: operating system

It’s the Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) operating system of the HTC Explorer XE versus the Windows 7.5 Mango system of the Nokia Lumia 800. Deciding upon a leader here is tricky. Android has been a mainstay of some of the very best smartphones in recent years. Both Android and Mango are slick, and easy to operate, and both have features and applications that let you work on the move and the ability to sync your calendar for meetings and planning ahead. The Nokia Lumia 800 has Microsoft Office, while the HTC Sensation XE gets Google Docs. Business features-wise, both are on a level playing field. Though it must be said, Windows 7.5 Mango is the more visually appealing operating system.

HTC Sensation XE v Nokia Lumia 800: dimensions

The HTC Explorer XE features a bigger screen, but this comes at the expense of portability, so it will take up more space in your pocket – bigger than the Nokia Lumia 800 in height, width and thickness. It is also the heavier phone – weighing 151 grams compared with the Nokia Lumia 800’s 142 grams.

HTC Sensation XE v Nokia Lumia 800: the winner

Overall, it is difficult to separate the two handsets on business use alone. Both are well powered and fully featured smartphones. However, the HTC Sensation XE comes out on top in nearly every category, besides size. If not being able to fit your phone in your top pocket doesn’t matter to you, the HTC Sensation XE is almost certainly the business phone for you.
