Bad Teacher 2011 Movie Trailer & Movie Review

Bad Teacher (2011) : Review

If Bad Teacher is a vocational reworking of Terry Zwigoff’s masterful Bad Santa, with Cameron Diaz’s lazy, money-grubbing, breast implant-seeking schoolteacher filling in for Billy Bob Thornton’s lazy, money-grubbing, alcohol-seeking mall Santa, then it’s a curiously tepid cousin needlessly sanitized by its good intentions. Diaz’s Elizabeth Hasley drinks bottles of whiskey hidden in her desk drawer, bluntly informs a kid who wears his abandoned father’s sweatshirt several times a week that he has no chance with the prettiest girl at school, and embezzles money from the seventh-grade car wash (shortly after using her body to spike up the funds and causing a police car to crash)*. But Hasley isn’t mean and interesting in the way that Billy Bob’s Willie T. Stokes captured our attentions. Instead of having a fast-talking dwarf Marcus as a sidekick, Hasley has the passive Lynn Davies (played by Phyllis Smith, best known as Phyllis from The Office), who looks forward to her three months off in the summer (with numerous trips to the zoo) and sees a surprise milk choice at the cafeteria (“2%? 1%? Chocolate?”) as a high point. What Bad Santa understood was that having a seemingly modest character constantly criticizing a middle-aged loser made us more interested in why the latter lived the way that he did. Hasley has no such luck with Lynn. Indeed, it’s Hasley who is the one to encourage Lynn to talk with two cowboys at a bar. Which works against the idea that her character is supposed to be, well, bad.

Perhaps screenwriters Gene Stupntsky and Lee Eisenberg (both veterans of The Office) should be faulted because they’ve been working too long within the needlessly restrictive limits of American television. They don’t seem to understand that an R-rated movie featuring a mean character really should be dangerous, but their floundering wit is here in spurts. There’s one funny moment early on when Hasley’s man shouts about the need for opera to be passed on to the next generation. And when Bad Teacher was especially irreverent, such as Justin Timberlake’s squeaky-clean teacher making racially insensitive remarks about a new Ethiopian restaurant or an especially aggressive method of getting kids to remember the details of To Kill a Mockingbird, I longed for the film to transcend into additional cringe comedy. But then the film would present another weak or gutless or repetitive moment, not understanding that incriminating photos of a naked administrator or Lucy Punch’s chirrupy Amy Squirrel getting a few comeuppances were mere variations on hackeneyed comic situations we’ve seen too many times before.

Jake Kasdan’s flat direction is also a big problem. I don’t know what has happened to Kasdan ever since his fine work on Freaks and Geeks and his very underrated debut feature, Zero Effect, but I fear that Lawrence’s son is now a lost cause. I’m fairly certain that Cameron Diaz was slightly miscast, but I don’t know for sure. Because she delivers her lines with heavy aspiration on the consonants rather than hitting the vowels hard. And because Diaz’s voice is mellifluous, this disastrous direction causes Diaz to lose the authority she so desperately needs to win our attention, especially because Hasley is rejected by several men when she tries to use her looks and she’s someone who spends cash so wantonly. And while I recognize that Justin Timberlake has about as many dramatic options as a home pregnancy test, a good director will understand that mixing up the only two settings available (as David Fincher did in The Social Network) is better than sticking with one. There’s something deeply unpleasant about seeing a 30-year-old guy who believes he’s in sync with Stanislavsky resort to the same terrible stage-hogging case of the cutes that he used in his twenties. Sure, Timberlake isn’t much of an actor. But can’t he at least pretend to be an adult?

The one actor I can commend here is Jason Segel as an underestimated gym teacher persistently trying to woo Hasley. I liked Segel in Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and he seems to be the only actor in this movie who is having any fun, perhaps because he knows how to use his face to suggest a social awareness that other characters lack. But Segel isn’t a mugger: he knows how to enter a scene without dominating it and he knows how to make his fellow actors look good. If we’re not drawn to Cameron Diaz in this movie, then Jason Segel serves that role.

But enough about Jason Segel, who hardly needs any help from me. In our post-Bridesmaids landscape, the time has come for women to be rude, crude, mean, and dangerous in mainstream comedies without being kept on a leash. Bad Teacher cannot live up to this basic requirement, and, in failing to be even modestly subversive, it becomes an instantly regressive and instantly forgettable offering.

* — A brief note on this movie’s recidivist exploitation of the physical female form: If Bad Teacher has been designed in any way as a double X counterweight to male-dominated comedies, why are the filmmakers here so desperate to use Cameron Diaz’s body like this? Furthermore, why does she seek a breast implant rather than cold hard cash? Still furthermore, in an opening scene, there is one fellow teacher — a slightly overweight (that would be “normal” weight) woman played by Jillian Armenante, whom I remember playing a sensitive therapist from The Sarah Connor Chronicles — who appears, expressing enthusiasm. She raises her arm. We see the sweat spots in her armpits. And that’s it. There is an additional moment when a woman’s breasts are there to be ogled for their silicone perfection by all and sundry. And that’s it. I submit to the reader that a movie that maintains such a superficial interest in women instantly loses credibility, especially when Eisenberg claims in the production notes: “We would see so many funny women on Saturday Night Live and on talk shows, and they’d be hysterical and charming, and then we’d go to the movies and they’d be props to get two guys to become friends or whatever. We really wanted to write a project for a comedienne.” Eisenberg may have wanted to write a project for a comedienne, but the film clearly views much of its supporting women as props.

Movie Review

Everyone kept saying that this was the female version of "The Hangover". I disagree its much funnier than that. The best part of "The Hangover" was Ken Jeong jumping out of the trunk of the car. BTW, Ken Jeong is the man! I love his character Senior Chang on Community too. Getting back to my point; Bridesmaids was much, much, much funnier than "The Hangover". I haven't laughed so hard since "Something About Mary".

I like adult humor. I like potty humor. I will laugh at a fart joke. I'm immature like that. "Something About Mary" had the hair gel scene, "Bridesmaids has the bathroom scene. Something about Mary had the franks and beans scene and Bridemaids has the airplane scene. Speaking of which the airplane scene made me laugh so hard that I had tears running down my face. It has to be one of the funniest scenes in a movie in the last decade!

It was great to see that Kristen Wiig co-wrote and co-produced this movie. I'm glad that she and Maya Rudolph have escaped the POS boys club that is Saturday Night Dead. I have enjoyed Maya Rudolph's work since "Idiocracy". "Away We Go" is another gem starring Rudolph. So I was really pleased to see these two women coming into their own.

The supporting characters were a riot as well. Rhodes (Chris O'Dowd) charm was the perfect counter balance to Ted's (John Hamm) douchebaggery. Annie's (Kristen Wiig) roommates were funny. I recognized Gil (Matt Lucas) from Little Britain USA. Brynn (Rebel Wilson) was excellent as the roommate from Hell.

The other bridesmaids had their moments as well especially Rita (Reno 911's Wendi McLendon-Covey), but the breakout star is Melissa McCarthy who plays the groom's sister Megan. She has perfect comedic timing, and I like that her character was a plus sized woman who was confident, comfortable being herself, accomplished, successful, and she got her man in the end.

I already want this on DVD. That's how freaking funny this is. It's like a special FU to the @$$es that say "women can't be funny". I noticed during the credits that Judd Apatow is one of the producers as well. It surprised me to know that I have enjoyed another movie he had involvement in. To date I have only liked two of his projects; The Ben Stiller Show and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. I have not been able to sit through "Knocked Up", "Superbad", "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy", "Step Brothers", Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, and most of all "Funny People". All of these movies have played on cable and I just can't make it through them without getting really bored and changing the channel after 30 minutes. Because of this I have developed an aversion to anything Apatow related. When "Get him to the Greek" came out, I didn't even attempt to watch it.

For all intents and purposes "Bridasmaids" is a Kristen Wiig production. She has done a supreme job of creating a true comedy. A movie that makes the audience laugh out loud. The experience of watching this movie really brought me back to the late 90s and early 2000s when movies like the aforementioned "Something About Mary", "Bootycall", "Bad Santa" and "Napoleon Dynamite" (Your mileage may vary on this one, but when Uncle Rico threw the steak at Napoleon I LMAO) were making audiences laugh. I'm glad to see comedy make a comeback!

By the way there is a bonus scene during the credits that is also laugh out loud funny, so stay for an extra minute or two.

ETA: The scene when Annie leaves the reception and Rhodes is standing in front of his car waiting for her felt soooooo "16 Candles" to me. Rhodes was standing like Jake Ryan! Come to think of it, this movie was a throw back to movies like "Better Off Dead", "Real Genius", even "Beverly Hills Cop". those were all comedies that had a real plot and story arch that went beyond laughs. It featured film structure staples like character development, a conflict that the protagonist must overcome, and a resolution in the end. Imagine that!

FINAL DESTINATION 5 Trailer Video and Download torrent file

noreply@blogger.com (freedownlodcafe) — Sat, 09 Jul 2011 10:08:00 +0000

Final Destination 5 is going ahead with Avatar visual effects supervisor Steven Quale in the directors chair.
Quale worked as second unit director and visual effects supervisor on Avatar and Titanic, and was also involved in the effects of James Cameron’s pioneering Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
This will be his first time directing his own project, with Quale working from a script by A Nightmare On Elm Street’s Eric Heisserer. (Um, good luck there bud.)
The opening scene of mayhem and disaster this time around will reportedly revolve around a suspension bridge (youch), while another horrific scene will involve laser eye surgery.
Final Destination 5, which will be in 3D like the last flick, is set to start shooting this September and has a release date of 26 August 2011

FINAL DESTINATION 5 TRAILER

Like destruction? Dead teens? Over-the-top violence? Your luck's in – a new trailer for Final Destination 5 has just screeched online.

The latest in the death-defying franchise revolves around a suspension bridge disaster. Said tragedy should claim the lives of an ill-fated group of people, but they survive thanks to one young man having a premonition about it.

Death wants his dead bodies, though, and he’ll do anything to get his bony mitts on them.

This new trailer shows off FD5’s central disaster from different angles to the first sneak peek, and it’s mightily impressive, with near seamless CGI.

There’s also Tony Todd returning as a creepy, in-the-know coroner (“Death doesn’t like to be cheated”) and the promise of a new twist on the franchise, with victims being able to get their lives back by killing somebody.

Check out the new trailer below…

avast! Free/Pro/Internet Security 5.0.677 Final Free Download

noreply@blogger.com (freedownlodcafe) — Fri, 08 Jul 2011 18:09:00 +0000

ALWIL Software offers specialized security solutions designed for personal use on individual machines - either at home or in your office. These products combine high performance with exceptional ease of use and outstanding design. avast! antivirus has been awarded the highest "Advanced+" rating following tests carried out by AV-Comparatives.
avast! provides a package of applications that aim to protect your computer from a possible virus infection or other malware threat. If you use it correctly, and in combination with other programs such as data backup utilities, it will significantly reduce the risk of your computer being attacked or infected by a virus, and thus the risk of losing important or private data.
The Avast! Internet Security application comes with an antispam filter and built-infirewall. Once installed, avast! runs silently in the background to protect your computer against all known forms of malware. You don't need to do anything else - just install and forget!

Real-time shields. The real-time shields are the most important part of the program, as they are working continuously to prevent your computer from becoming infected. They monitor all your computer's activity, checking all programs and files in real-time - i.e. at the moment a program is started or whenever a file is opened or closed.

Virus Chest. The virus chest can be thought of as a folder on your hard disk with special properties, that make it a safe, isolated place for storing potentially harmful files. You can work with the files in the virus chest, with some security restrictions.

avast! antispam filter. avast! Internet Security includes a fully integrated antispam filter to detect unwanted email.
Spam delivered to your mailbox can result in your mailbox quickly becoming full, as a result which, legitimate emails may not be received. It can also unnecessarily increase the load on the email server, internet connection, local networks etc.

Firewall. avast! Internet Security includes a fully integrated firewall which can be controlled directly from the avast! user interface.
The firewall monitors all communication between your computer and the outside world and blocks unauthorized communication based on a number of "allow" and "deny" rules. In this way, the firewall can prevent sensitive data from leaving your computer and can also block attempted intrusions by external hackers

Command-line scanner. The ashCmd program uses the same avast! scanning engine to detect potential malware infections so the results are exactly the same as running a scan via the normal program interface. The avast! command-line scanner, ashCmd.exe, is normally installed in the directory C:Program FilesAlwil Softwareavast5.
A scan is run from the command prompt using various switches and parameters. To see a description of the parameters, locate the ashCmd file and double click on it. This will open a new window in which the various parameters are displayed.

avast! Internet Security Features:
• High performance antivirus engine
• Anti-rootkit protection
• Anti-spyware protection
• Script shield
• Process virtualization
• Command line scanner
• Anti-spam filter
• Built-in firewall

Changes in avast! Internet Security 5.0.326 Beta:
- solved a nasty memory leak in AIS (reported a few times on the forum)
- (hopefully) solved all the issues related to trial licenses and registrations
- solved scan areas in custom scans
- solved areas in boot-time scanner
- solved some Behavior Shield -related crashes in aswSP.sys
- solved some sandbox-related crashes in aswSnx.sys
- stability and functional improvements in the firewall

Internet Explorer 9 9.8006.6000 Platform Preview 6 Free Download

noreply@blogger.com (freedownlodcafe) — Fri, 08 Jul 2011 17:47:00 +0000

Microsoft has released the beta for the newest version 9.0 of their ever-so-popularInternet Explorer browser. The beta has all the features that will be seen come release, but does not however have the updated version 9 UI. Version 9 has some important new things about it. For starters, there is support for HTML 5 and CSS 3, and a new javascript engine. IE9 also has an "Acid Test" feature that will let you test the compatibility and compliance of a website with IE9. With IE 9, webpages perform and feel more like the programs you use every day on your computer.
Play in a more beautiful web. The improvements to Internet Explorer are as much about what you don't see as what you do see. Internet Explorer 9 has a streamlined design, fewer dialog boxes to click through, more intuitive navigation, and many new features that speed up your web browsing experience.

Additionally, this new browser is programmed to use your GPU much better: IE9 uses your computer's GPU to enhance hardware scalable vector graphics (SVG), javascript performance, and HTML5 performance. Which is a great thing, considering the natural, slow development of more and more graphic intensive websites as the WWW matures.
Windows Internet Explorer (formerly Microsoft Internet Explorer; commonly abbreviated to IE), is a series of graphical web browsers developed by Microsoft and included as part of the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems starting in 1995. It has been the most widely used web browser since 1999, attaining a peak of about 95% usage share during 2002 and 2003 with IE5 and IE6.
For Microsoft, the arrival of IE9 is an attempt to compete more fully with Mozilla's Firefox, Google's Chrome, and other browsers. Although various flavors of Internet Explorer are still used for one in three Web site visits, Microsoft has been losing share for years as rivals have moved ahead technically.
With IE9, Microsoft is trying to change that, while also bringing more of Windows 7's capabilities to the browser. The new browser allows users to pin a Web site to the Windows 7 taskbar, much as a user can do already with applications. Sites that are pinned in this fashion can then program "jumplists" that allow surfers to quickly move through various parts of the Web site.
You should consider downloading the Internet Explorer 9 Beta if all of the following apply to you:
• You like to use the latest software and enjoy experimenting with new technology.
• You feel comfortable troubleshooting computer problems yourself.
• You don't mind updating software frequently.
You might want to wait for the final release of Internet Explorer 9 Beta if either of the following apply to you:
• You prefer to install software once, and don't want to mess with it again.
• You get frustrated if software doesn't always behave as you expect it to.
