Dog Festival

We are having fun activities for dog on October 3 2010 from 12-3pm. We are having doggie contest: Best Tail wager, Best Kisser, Biggest lapdog, Best Costume and Silliest pet trick! We will also be doing free nail trimming, Face Painting, raffles, paw painting, and Canine Good Citizen testing. Run and Walk for the Animals

The Capital Area Humane Society is having an event to help raise donations to benefit over 6,000 animals that they service in a year. Pets and owner can attend and participate in a 5K or 1 mile fun walk. They will be having pet related demos, lunch and more. Best Friends Pet Care http://www.bestfriendspetcare.com/ will be a vendor at the event so come out and see us and help support the Humane Society http://www.cahs-lansing.org/. This event will be held on Saturday, September 11 at the Fitzgerald Park in Grand Ledge. The event starts at 11 am rain or shine.

Its almost time for the kids to go back to school and some times the family pet gets lonely when the kids are no longer around the house all day to keep them busy. A well exercised dog is a happy good dog, sometimes when dogs don't get the necessary exercise they will act out and chew or dig things around the house. Once the kids are in school make a point to play with your dog to take it to the dog park, a socialized busy dog makes a happy family.

Heat stroke

In the summer months it can get very hot and we need to make sure are pets are staying well hydrated and cool. Heat + humidity + activity can lead to heat stoke in pets. It is very important on those days you keep you pets activity leave lower in the middle of the day when it is the hottest. Try to get in the dogs walks in the morning or evening when it is cooler. Some things to be alert for are excessive panting, rapid and raspy breathing and dry red gums. If your dog has heat stroke take them to the vet right a way.bestfriendspetcare.com

Valentine Fundraiser for All-4-Aurelius 4-H Group

All-4-Aurelius, a local dog 4-H group, are holding a Valentine Day fundraiser to earn money for camp. The fundraiser will be held on Saturday February 13th at the Gier Park Community Center located at 2400 Hall Street in Lansing. Admission is $5.00 per person with a pet and $1.00 per person after that. For additional dogs it is $2.50, all children under 13 are free. Valentines photos will also be available for $5.00. Best Friends Pet Care will be present with our trainer Amanda, she will be on hand to answer training questions and help dog owners run their pet through the agility course. Amanda will also be giving agility and beginning-competitive obediance demonstrations with her German Shepherd, Apache.
