Beats Music Streaming Service Launched in January by Dr.Dre

January is the best momment for a launching a rival to Spotify with the rapper and headphone entrepreneur. It's featuring high-quality streams and curated recommendations, with Trent Reznor as chief creative officer.

Dr Dre is to launch a new music streaming service, Beats Music, following the extraordinary success of his Beats By Dre headphone line.

Dre first announced the service late last year under the name Daisy, and originally built it out of the streaming service MOG, but will launch it with the Beats Music brand in January 2014.

He previously appointed Nine Inch Nails bandleader Trent Reznor as chief creative officer on the project, who in an interview last year talked up the "intelligent curation" that would be a feature of the site – moving away from the algorithmically-derived recommendations of Spotify, and towards artist-curated playlists and suggestions. "It's like having your own guy when you go into the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn't necessarily have encountered," said Reznor.

In a blog post, the CEO of Beats Music, Ian Rogers, announced that as of today users can register their preferred username with the service, and that "we're providing a few artists and other influencers access to familiarize them with the service and get their early feedback."

A source told Reuters in March that Beats Music was at one point in discussion with Apple, whose own iTunes Radio streaming service launched in September, but it appears there has been no tie-up between the two. Beats Music raised $60m investment in March of this year, with a large proportion coming from Access Industries, owner of Warner Music Group. Beats Electronics, which manages the Beats By Dre lines, was valued at over $1bn earlier this year following a sale of a stake to the Carlyle Group, which made Dre himself around $250m.

Jimmy Iovine, CEO of Beats Electronics, said of the streaming service: "Right now, these things are all utilities. It's give me your credit card, here's 12 million songs, good luck... We have an entire generation that was brought up on sound being inferior, and sound is the only conduit for emotion that we have. We've had ten very bad years in the audio industry. So we want the best possible quality, and it will have global scale. So it will be a balance of those things."

Beats Music joins a crowded marketplace with Spotify still leading the pack and close competitor Deezer planning a US launch in 2014. YouTube is also planning a premium streaming service – essentially Spotify blended with music video.

Today we drape our fleshy sonic receptors in the special edition white Mixr headphones from Beats by Dre. These over-ear offerings are the product of Beats working with famed DJ and producer–David Guetta. No familiarity with either of these folks is needed to appreciate the totality of awesome that is the Beats by Dre Mixr DJ headphones.

The Mixr unit ships in a sturdy and sizeable red boxed packaging. You get the headphones, a rugged carrying case, company literature, instruction manual an two different cords to connect to your audio device du jour. Again this is the white version. The Mixr unit also comes in black. Both are dripping with elegance and style. The logos and accents are well placed, add charm and do not feel self-serving or overly indulgent.

Moreover, the craftsmanship is a showpiece all on its own. We have brushed aluminum, limited use of plastics and wildly useful pivoting earphones for quick sound checks and general spatial awareness without having to take the headphones completely off your musically massaged head. You can easily see, what went in to the design was equal parts beauty and brains.

Let’s turn our gaze toward function. I mentioned two cables are included… One cord is for audio-on-the-go and features Control Talk+ functionality and support with iPhone and Blackberry (RIM limited functions). You can answer, hang up and mute calls with ease. I should note that Blackberry users are limited to answering and hanging up phone calls. The cord also sports in-line mic controls such volume controls and skipping tracks. Using this cable on the go is great, where I saw no issues. It’s length is sufficient. The mic works as needed with all callers reporting clear reception. The buttons on the in-line remote are responsive with noticeable tactile feedback. Nothing eventful here. Audio on your mobile device benefits immensely when heard through the Beats Mixr.

The other cord is partially coiled like a DJ’s and features a removable (yet still attached) 1/4-inch connector normally used by DJs. Remove that connector and we find a familiar 3.5mm connector. I love the option to go either way. I don’t usually use headies when talking on the phone so I appreciate the second option sans the in-line remote. Also noteworthy: either cable can be connected to the left or right earphone, unlike most offerings. This option also allows for daisy chaining several headphones together for multiple listening from a single audio source–also damn cool!

So what does audio actually sound like through the Mixr set of cans? Presidential! Out of the consumer level over-ear headphones that have gone through our audio obstacle course, the Mixr from Beats by Dre and co-created by David Guetta are trendsetting pack leaders–shot callers, even… Every ounce of audio reproduction goes untouched by the competition. Lows, highs, midrange…you name it, it all sounds impeccable. The bass is so pure and rich, it’s amazing. I hesitate to say “deep”, while the bass does possess immense depth… The bass reproduction is so clean and rich that it stole the show and is truly what impressed me the most. Yet the Mixr unit goes beyond the boomin-system, night club thumb of which Guetta and Dre are known. With no fear they gracefully consumed Classical, Samba, Reggae, Jazz, Blues..etc, and spat out pure harmony.

Even still, I was ill-prepared for the aural ambrosia that was unleashed when I used the Mixr set for gaming. I could never get the in-line mic to work for in-game voice chat. It mattered little. The trick here was my Astro Gaming mixamp. The amp is connected to my PC sound card. So I connected the Mixr headphones to the 3.5 connector on the amp. The result was shocking. Positional audio was questionable. But the level of fidelity, clarity and richness was just as impressive in games as in movies and music. The Mixamp functions like an exosuit augmenting the existing might of anything that dares strap it on. Gaming “al carte”, or without the mixamp was filled with hollow echo sounds. Not surprising! This set is not made for gaming. But the lesson here: an appropriate amp can admirably extend the functionality of your Beats by Dre Mixr headphones, making a complete and nearly over-achieving package.

That package does have a few smudges. I will admit, some girth accompanies the Beats Mixr headphones, but they’re not abundantly heavy. The fit is quite comfortable for the most part. However I did notice they become too tight around my ears after about an hour of straight uninterrupted use. Also the band padding, which touches the top of your head, is a little deficient and could use a bit more cushioning.

But really I’m splitting hairs at this point. None of this unseats the new king crowned. I cannot recommend the Mixr headphone enough. They are a bit pricey, but lesser performers brandish equal or higher price tags. The V-Moda Lp2 headphones for instance, are similarly priced but come nowhere near the level of audio quality produced by the Mixr DJ headphones from Beats by Dre (-ed. That’s saying a lot SFYS).

The first thing that strikes you about Adidas Sennheiser headphones is the box. A box with no hidden agenda; it’s just some packaging to get the product home safely. Sennheiser aren’t playing any of those Apple games over the packaging here, these cans live and die by their reputation alone. It’s some reputation.

The original HD25 came out in 1987, and at the time were about the best and most expensive headphones you could get. Back in those distant days I was a photographer’s assistant I could barely afford shoes and these were well beyond me. How I longed for a pair.

I acquired my first set just over ten years later when a camera crew left a pair on my desk after doing an interview with me and I have been in love with them since. Aside from the blue branding and ear pads and Adidas logos on the earpieces, the Sennheiser Adidas HD 25-1-II are almost identical in appearance to that craftily acquired pair.

Designed originally as professional monitoring headphones they’ve become the choice of film crews and sound professionals around the world and are and probably the world’s most popular DJ headphones.

Given the intended clientele they are naturally built like tanks, and that must be one of the reasons the BBC uses these. That old pair of mine have kicked about in the bottom of various camera bags for well over ten years and they hardly show it.

It also follows that they would be comfortable; they are. That’s because their lightweight construction combines perfectly with the split headband design and really works to everyone’s advantage.

That combination means there are loads of possible combinations and adjustments to accommodate all sized heads, making sure the all-important clamping pressure that’s essential for ensuring a good fit is just right. Whilst they are supremely comfortable headphones they can feel a little tight during periods of extended use.

These are headphones that stand out for all the right reasons it’s not just the classic Old Skool styling, they built that Skool. The German designers may have only been following the design mantra ‘form follows function’ but in the process they created an icon.

So getting down to the nitty-gritty, how do they sound? In a word wonderful; but to elucidate further, this is a lovely rounded headphone that sparkles across the board.

All the subtlety a performer might provide in a recording there for the listening. The bass is punchy, rounded, tight and well defined. The mid tones and treble are articulate, polished and professional. I love them to bits.

OK they may not fold but they are small enough and robust enough to survive life like that in the simple supplied soft case.

They are great in loud environments like the Tube as they have a decent level isolation. Whilst they may seem expensive they do represent good value for money, for they are a truly mobile audiophile headphone.

It was only a matter of time before Beats by Dr. Dre rolled out a pair of Beats Wireless On-Ear Headphones. After all, it was the next logical step after introducing the Beats Pro, Beats Solo, and the artist inspired In-Ear headphones along the way. But can the new Beats Wireless live up to the expectations of its brethren, as well as improve upon them?

When Beats by Dr. Dre first announced their Wireless On-Ear Headphones last year, we were eager to get our hands on them for a review. Until recently, they were only available at the Beats pop-up shop in NYC and now, they have made their way to the Apple Store – exclusively, of course.

With the introduction of the Beats Wireless, this means that the insanely popular headphones can now enter into a whole new realm of the audio headphone industry by going up against the likes of JayBird, Sennheiser, Jabra, and numerous others that specialize in bringing wireless audio to the masses. JayBird in particular has been one of the only Bluetooth headset companies to actually add a bit of style to their line of headphones. Because until now, Ggenerally wireless headphones have all shared the same blah design aesthetic and have felt like bluetooth headsets first, and headphones second. But this isn’t the case with the Beats Wireless, which look and sound more like regular headphones that just happen to be wireless.

Keeping in line with the style of their diverse line-up, the Beats Wireless are only slightly bigger than the Beats Solo, but they are much smaller than the Studio and Pro. The ear cups still pivot to conform to your ears and are extremely soft and comfortable for long hours of use. They do tend to collect dirt, so you will want to clean them off after long periods of wearing them. The exterior of the right ear cup features the power/pairing button, track control and volume control all utilizing Monster’s engineering (and most certainly this was probably one of their last collaborations publicly). The ear cup also has a built-in mic.

Like with all wireless headphones, trying to remember the controls on the ear cup takes some time to get used too, but once you get the hang of it, it was easy to use and operated without a hitch. The Beats Wireless is also collapsible for easy transport, but sadly the construction of the headphones is probably its weakest part. It feels a bit flimsy and weak at the hinges and if stressed too much it might break. So we definitely suggest using the included touring case and not throwing them around too hard.

Sound

Let’s get into the meat shall we, and of course why you are reading this review, for the audio experience of course. The Beats Wireless is the best sounding pair of wireless headphones we have ever donned. In fact the rest of the Beats by Dr. Dre line of headphones should actually take a cue from these.

The headphones were also a cinch to pair with my iPhone, Windows Phone, iPad, Macbook Air, and iMac. Within moments any device I attempted to pair with it worked. All I had to do was hold down the power button on the ear cup to begin pairing. Once the pairing was completed, music started pouring into the headphones and it glistened with warmth and balance. In fact you can’t even tell that these weren’t wired headphones by how good they sound. Some songs sound a bit muddy but only when listening to a lower bit rate. On the other hand, while bass is certainly prevalent in the Beats Wireless, it isn’t nearly as strong as it is in the other Beats headphones. With the Beats wireless, the bass doesn’t drown out the highs or mids, but instead leaves you feeling cozy all over. As a matter of fact, the sound experience with the Beats Wireless is by far one of the best I have had with any of the Beats over-ear headphones. This is probably in part due to the fact I’m not a super fan of my music being drowned out with intense bass. However, those who love their bass will also love these headphones too because it’s an entirely new listening experience. All genres sounded impressive from Calvin Harris to Dionne Warwick.

Besides sounding rich when your mobile device is in reach, the sound quality stays on par if you decide to wander around with your Beats Wireless as well. I walked around my apartment (which is about 700 sqft) and the sound never gave out. I put my smartphone in the corner of my kitchen and walked to the bathroom, living room, bedroom and the Beats Wireless kept on going. When I pushed my luck and decided to go three flights down in my building, that is when the Beats Wireless gave up and just cut out. No static, no weakness, it just stopped playing the music.

The Beats Wireless exhibits minimal sound leakage and lacks any type of dedicated noise cancellation, so listening in noisier surroundings like an airplane or subway does seep into your listening experience, but not too badly.

Conclusion

Are you ready to cut the cord? Well if you are, then set yourself free with Beats Wireless. They sound great – especially for headphones operating over Bluetooth, they last long on their rechargeable battery, are very comfortable to wear, and they will let you roam aimlessly without being literally connected to your device. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the Beats Wireless, but what I got was a wonderful surprise. Certainly the durability of the headphones are still up for discussion, but overall, these are the complete package if you’re looking for a comfortable pair of wireless headphones with great sound. Report: iPhone 5 to feature smaller connecter, new headphone jack location

Apple’s iPhone 5 will shrink the classic 30-pin connector and relocate its headphone jack to the bottom of the device, reports confirmed today.

Reuters confirmed reports that Apple is indeed scrapping its 30-pin connecter for a smaller connecter dock in an effort to further update its design and make room for the headphone jack, which will make its way to the bottom of the iPhone, compared to its current position on the top left corner.

“The iPhone 5, Apple’s next-generation iPhone expected to go on sale around October, will come with a 19-pin connector port at the bottom instead of the proprietary 30-pin port ‘to make room for the earphone moving to the bottom,’” sources told Reuters.

Reports in the past month claimed that this shift in design was going to happen, basing the rumors upon leaked parts and insider sources. When larger media outlets, such as Reuters, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal begin reporting the findings, however, people tend to listen.

With a smaller dock connecter, third-party accessory gadgets for charging and syncing music, video and photos, will also have to be updated. iMore, who sparked the rumor about the smaller dock, confirmed after the Reuters report was released that Apple will produce an adapter that will allow users to continue using their 30-pin chargers

“While this seems like it should have been filed in the obvious drawer, because of all the questions we’ve been getting, and posts we’ve been seeing, iMore reached out to the original sources that gave us the new Dock connector story way back in February just to make doubly sure — and yes, there will be an adapter for the iPhone 5′s smaller dock connecter that will let it work with many of the accessories designed for the old 30-pin dock connecter,” iMore reports.

The key there is that it will work with “most” accessories. Apple has a knack of limiting third-party accessories after awhile. When you plug in certain chargers on certain devices, an error message could pop up saying the third-party accessory is not compatible with the device.

Apple has used its 30-pin dock in all iOS devices and early iPods since 2003.

Reaction Monday was mixed across the blogosphere and on Twitter to the news of the redesigned dock connecter.

“If they change the dock connecter every nine years, that’s fine with me,” one MacRumors forum writer posted. “This is quite normal in the world of computing. Nine years is a long time to keep using the same dock connecter.”

Others weren’t as forgiving.

“Earphone on the bottom?” One forum writer posted. “Cumbersome.”

“Is this a freaking joke?” One upset Apple fan writes. “You mean all the accessories that I have bought would be obsolete soon?” Way to tell people to use Android instead, Apple!”

Reviews for My new Wicked Audio Solus DJ Headphones play music with amazingly ear-bleeding volumes that sounds good too and offers both Stereo and Mono sound, supposedly to give listeners a DJ mode as they listen to just one side like DJ. They look good too.

I mostly listen to spoken word, from audio books to podcasts, but when I fire up some tunes, I prefer a nice pair of cans to ear buds any day. I look for three things, comfort, sound quality, and durability. In short the Wicked Audio Solus DJ Headphones matched my expectations on all three fronts.

Wicked Audio Solus DJ Headphones Offer Heavenly Sound
I’m not what musical snobs call an audiophile, meaning I’m not incredibly picky about the sound quality of my speakers and headphones. However, I do know what I like and I like these headphones for sound quality. They’re crisp and clear with good high-end and low-end sound. I noticed no tinny sound or any distortion even at high decibel levels.

The volume of these cans will blow you away. I cranked my music source to max and turned down the built-in volume dial that sits about a third of the way down the cord. I proceeded to increase the volume slowly from totally silent to about 70% when the music volume began to feel uncomfortable. My 18-year-old turned them up to about 90. He loves super loud music. At about 50% everyone else will enjoy your music too since the headphones don’t exactly keep the sound private. I listened to them at or below half volume both for comfort and the consideration of those around me. At that level I enjoyed using them.

Comfort
I’m a big guy with a big head. I need headphones with a big band to fit over my ears. The Wicked Audio Solus DJ Headphones barely fit, if I nudge the band towards the back of my skull a bit.

The large rubber-covered foam cups cover just my ears. They band holds them in place tightly without discomfort. I could sit and listen for a long time without a problem. They do get warm and I’m warm natured, so I had to wipe some sweat off as I listened right after doing some work around the house.

Build Quality
I like the cord housed in a braided red nylon. It won’t tangle. The cans swivel in their housing so the user can hold just one side over the ear to listen like a DJ. Flip the switch on the volume control to MO so all the sound gets piped to that one side. Flip it to ST for Stereo.

If someone needs an inexpensive set of headphones for amateur DJ gigs at a party at home or the dorm at school, this set will work well.

It’s hard to judge build quality when using a set of headphones for just a few weeks, but they should hold up. They don’t feel cheap or flimsy at all, and shouldn’t with a retail price of $125.

Design
Some people wear headphones as a fashion accessory. I’m not one, but I think they give the listener an attractive pair of headphones. Some nice red accents on the red cord and plug, red lining under the band and white Wicked Audio logo make them attractive to people who enjoy some flare. Those with wild tastes, like my son, will call them understated. I’m more conservative, so I think they’re a bit flamboyant for my tastes.

Dr Dre has succeeded in gatecrashing the London 2012 Olympics with an ambush marketing campaign that has seen British athletes including Laura Robson and Tom Daley endorse the rapper and music entrepreneur's Beats headphones range.

The brand, which is not an official sponsor of the International Olympic Committee or London 2012, has skirted strict rules on ambush marketing by sending British team members special versions of the Beats range branded with union flag colours.

Tennis player Laura Robson tweeted about receiving her headphones, although the post now appears to have been removed from her Twitter account, as did football goalkeeper Jack Butland, who tweeted: "Love my GB Beats by Dre."

Butland revealed in a message to another GB footballer, Karen Carney, that a Beats representative visited the team hotel on Monday, tweeting: "They are around, I'm sure they'll bump into you guys soon."

Beats headphones have been almost ubiquitous in the Aquatics Centre with swimmers including Michael Phelps using them to block background noise before races.

The stunt is unlikely to go down well with lawyers at Locog or the IOC, who have strict rules to protect official sponsors who have paid tens of millions of pounds for the exclusive right to exploit their association with the event.

In addition, guidance issued before the Olympics by the IOC stated that athletes were not permitted to promote any brand, product or service within a blog or tweet or otherwise on any social media platforms or on any websites.

The IOC and Locog had not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication. The official sponsor that is most likely to feel most aggrieved by the stunt is Panasonic.

England football players used the Dr Dre headphones at Euro 2012 to avoid the press. The headphones grew in popularity at the Beijing 2008 Olympics after the company gave them to basketball star LeBron James and he gave them out to members of Team USA.

The ambush marketing initiative comes on the heels of a protest – initiated by US athletes including 400m runner Sanya Richards-Ross – criticising rule 40 of the IOC code of conduct. The rule forbids athletes from mentioning their personal sponsors on social media during the games.

Dawn Harper, the Olympic 100m hurdles champion, posted a picture on Twitter of her track and field teammates and the statement: "I am honored to be an Olympian, but #wedemandchange #rule40." She also posted a picture of herself with tape over her mouth emblazoned with the words "rule 40".

On Friday, legal advisers to Locog decided not to take action against a global ad campaign by Nike, which is not an official 2012 sponsor, that featured everyday athletes competing in places around the world named London.

Giving insight into Locog's thinking, and perhaps whether not its legal team will react differently to Dr Dre's Beats headphones stunt, a spokesman said at the time: "Our approach to enforcing the 2006 Act has always been sensible, pragmatic and proportionate.

"We have to protect the rights of our sponsors, who have paid for exclusive associations with the Games in their sponsorship categories. We are tough on commercial abuse, but we don't want to do anything to dampen genuine enthusiasm and excitement about the Games."

Locog has also dropped its pursuit of Irish bookmaker Paddy Power, which is running a cheeky billboard campaign that trumpets its sponsorship of a sports event in London, France, but is still considering action against an in-store campaign by Oddbins. Astro A50 Wireless Headphones Review

Recently, the world is familiar with the term wireless. Almost everyone has been using wireless devices of any shape and type. This time we will discuss about a wireles headphones called the Astro A50. Unlike previous models that still use the Astro A40 plug into a separate MixAmp.

Define "Wireless"

The receiver will need to be plugged in to at least two ports (TOSLINK cable for audio, USB for power) at all times. The headset doesn’t need to be plugged in to the receiver though. But Xbox usage is especially messy, requiring you to plug your headset into your controller to experience Xbox Live chat audio, which sort of defeats the point of “wireless” headphones. If your console is out in the open, those cords will add up, all wiggling around like snake spaghetti.

There's no way to "fix" this, as wires are our necessary evil, but if you're hoping for an entirely cord-free setup, bad news: it still doesn't exist. When your headphones are charging on the included stand, they're going to be more wired than a robot ferret drinking Mountain Dew.

If you’re an Xbox-er who abhors wires as much as I do, you might want to wait for the Tritton Warheads, which are releasing soon and feature wireless game chat – even on Xbox.

What makes the A50s wireless is the subtraction of the worst of all cords - the one that winds from your headset to console. This is, indubitably, the one you trip on as you tumble into your candle collection and burn down your house.

Unless your living room is the size of the Taj Mahal, these things will transmit audio flawlessly. With a direct line of sight to the receiver, the Astro A50’s can transmit to about 30 feet without jeopardizing the sound or dealing with significant audio dropout. Even so, they have a tendency to dip audio intermittently for a fraction of a second. Astro tells us it’s is in the process of addressing this glitch, which should be fixed soon in a firmware update.

The Hardware

Of course, all this wireless stuff might not even be the A50’s biggest triumph. The most significant change in the A50s isn't the elimination of a single cord, but rather an entire mixer. Miraculously, the folks at Astro found a way to jam the A40's voice/game mixer into the headset without making the A50s significantly heavier or bulkier. Tapping on the front of the right headphone increases the game volume, tapping the back increases voice volume.

This will seem backwards for some. For the longest time, I couldn't get over the idea that voice should be in front - where the microphone is - and game volume should be in the back - where the headphones are. Changing the master volume is done by a spinning an easy-to-find dial that sits parallel to your right ear. Fortunately, after a week or so, you'll memorize what's what and always know what to hit.

This volume mixing is slightly less precise than that found on the A40 amps, but it’s arguably faster, and never requires you to take your eyes off the game. Though at times confusing in their placement, whether you’re adjusting game volume, voice volume, or muting your own voice, every feature is easily accessible. Speaking of muting, this is done by simply swinging the microphone to the upright position. In order to keep the A50’s as small and light as possible, Astro had to remove the ability to detach the mic and the option to add custom tags.

Perhaps more devastating is the non-removable lithium-ion battery. While it will last for hundreds of charge cycles (each good for about 8-10 hours of use), if the battery finally burns up you’ll need to send your $300 headphones in for work at Astro.

At 364 grams, the A50s are heavy (the A40s are 324 grams), but they're also supremely crafted. After hours of use, you rarely experience wearer fatigue. This is in part due to the extra padding in the headband - a soft foam that keeps the weight of the headset dispersed across the top of your head instead of a single spot.

The big, black, and plastic design of the A50s may well be a source of contention for many.. Comparably-priced headphones outside of the gaming sphere are usually much smaller and much sleeker - but those don’t have a mixer and microphone built in.

Finally, there’s the transmitter – a dead-simple black box with a power button and a Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound button. Both light up red when activated. Astro has opted for high-tech KleerNet 5.8GHz, which, besides enabling crystal clear audio, has the added bonus of making the Astros incredibly easy to pair with other wireless KleerNet hardware.

The Sound
None of this would matter if the headset didn't sound great, of course. But the A50s live up to the hype - and the price tag. The custom 40mm drivers can produce excruciatingly loud, pristine audio. Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound gives better directional audio than many speaker setups (though a physical surround sound speaker system is still the best).

While the A50s rock much of the same hardware as their predecessors, the redesigned cans offer a fuller sound, with less audio leak. There is no noise cancellation, besides what the puffy earcups block out - which is just about everything. While playing a game of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD on the couch, I was completely oblivious to my friends talking to me.

The 50s come with three EQ Profiles: “Flat,” for undistorted audio, “Astro,” for gaming, and “Media” in case you want to make your audio sound awful. It's just too punchy and distorted for most content. While we don’t recommend using Media for just about anything, Astro has outlined plans for custom profiles, which will be downloadable online. This will allow people to upload their own, allowing you to find one that best suits your ears.

Closing Comments
At US $300, the Astro A50s are pretty damn expensive. This is especially true considering that, at the basest level, the main difference between the A50s and the 40s is the design, which may not be enough to provoke a purchase from A40 owners.

But if you’re not already gaming with an Astro headset, you should consider picking up the 50s. They feature currently unparalleled audio, incredible surround sound and a no-brainer setup. While we wish they were a little sleeker and a bit better suited for music, the A50s are astronomically well built for gaming.

If you’re a serious gamer hell-bent on making your game experience better, your money is safe with the A50s. They’re worth every penny, assuming you have all the pennies.

Sennheiser HD 280 pro, you might to think that this an incredible headphones. Yes offcourse, HD 280 pro have a really good sound quality and are very comfortable. As an Audiophile, I will say that this headphones is still fabulous, as good as ever. Still clear and undistord. For me, the quitest and most comfortable headphone I've tried. They beat the spinach out of Bose for exculuding environment noise and at a third place.

Optimum impedance ensures universal compatibility, from home listening to studio monitoring. Every little note is accented from the pull of the bass string to the delicate slide of the brushes. The horns and piano are bright and crisp yet not overwhelming. Classical music also shines through with haunting clarity. I'll keep my rambling to a minimum by saying that the rest of the genres are accurately represented by these headphones.

Somebody said that 280 Pro has a perfect EQ, the highs and mids just glisten, but they're smooth. Bass is very tight, and not overwhelming int the least. This was a major concern of mine, because a thumping bass that drowns out the rest is my sworn enemy. If it's not enough for you, you can always just EQ it up. The impedance still lets you get pretty loud without a dedicated headphone amp, a versatility I'm sure I'll enjoy.

Just for the conclusion, this 280 Pro are really2 great headphones to collect beside the Dr Dre headphones.
