The following article is not a review by these site owners. We are therefore not attesting to the effectiveness of this product. There is a 60-day money back guaranteed return after you make a purchase.

                             Fat Burning Furnace- review

Designed by Rob Poulos, Fat Burning Furnace is a weight loss program that shows you how you can get slimmer and teaches you the 5 facts of permanent fat loss. Bob spent years trying to find a good fat loss program, and finally came up with his own based on his experiences.

The 128 page e-book has three different sections and is in digital format for instant download. The first section will give you some basic information about fat loss and introduces the program.

The second section covers the fitness aspect of the program and gives you relevant information about exercises and workouts. The last section of the book covers nutrition, so you know exactly what you need to eat with the exercise routine. You’ll also get many great bonuses and free tools, including email support. The book and bonuses cost $39.97 and you get a 60 day iron clad 100% money back guarantee in case you don’t like it.
Fat Burning Furnace System is basically a set of exercise routines combined with a basic eating plan, that aim to maintain pressure on your body to burn fat even when not exercising. The author does not believe in long workouts, or any sort of cardiovascular workouts, so his workouts involve just weights and can be completed in as little as 15 – 25 minutes a day.
The primary focus of the system is to perform some targeted exercises like curls for your arms, but perform them very slowly to maximize the impact they have. This also means you only have to do one set of the exercises, unlike the 3 sets most people are encouraged to do, which allows you to complete the workouts so quickly.
Since Fat Burning Furnace is not a crazy fad diet, you should expect to see more modest fat loss results. However, this doesn’t mean you won’t see great results quickly. Most customers show great results after only a week, losing around 3-5 pounds. After about a month, many lose 10-15 pounds. These seem to be pretty normal results for people following the Fat Burning Furnace program. While results depend on many different factors, you should see results close to these if you follow the program correctly.

The system could include more information on diet and nutrition, and it looks like this was added afterwards to complement the exercises as it is not as comprehensive as the information regarding the workouts.

Fat Burning Furnace is a fat loss guide that provides an easy to follow plan that is suitable for people with hectic lives. While it does focus on good nutrition and exercise, it won’t require you to make any dramatic changes to your life to see results. If you’re willing to put in the effort with this program, you should see great fat loss results.

Explanation of what Homeopathic Treatment is.

Introduction
Homeopathy is a safe, natural form of medicine, based on the practice of treating like with like. Homeopathy is derived from the Greek words homios, meaning like or similar, and italios, meaning suffering.

Homeopathy is concerned with treating the whole person rather than the illness alone. The homeopath will consider the patient as a whole, both physically and psychologically, taking into account the patient’s physical appearance, their likes, dislikes and their temperament. It is therefore a highly personalized form of treatment, so patients who apparently suffer from the same illness may be given advice for different medicines.

Homeopathy is a well-established form of healing. Today many of the leading pharmaceutical companies are researching and mass-producing homeopathic medicines.

Homeopathic Medicines
Homeopathic medicines look very much like conventional medicines and are taken in the same way, but the way they work is very different.

The medicines are not synthetic and are derived from natural sources. Over 60% of homeopathic remedies are prepared from vegetable or plant materials. Other remedies are prepared from naturally occurring mineral substances, including metals, non-metallic substances, and mineral salts. Animal sources of homeopathic remedies include Cuttlefish (the ink or juice provides sepia) and Honeybee.

Homeopathic medicines are prepared by obtaining the remedy in its most concentrated form, and then, through a long process of dilution, by preparing a medicine whose potency is sufficient to effect a treatment. The potency describes the measure of the dilution of the remedy, and the number, which follows the name of the medicine itself, denotes it. The higher the number, the greater the dilution (up to one part remedy to one trillion parts dilutant).

Homeopathic Medicines
Homeopathic medicines, commonly referred to as remedies, may come from the plant, mineral, or animal kingdom. Some common remedies include: arnica montana, from the Leopard’s bane plant; belladonna, from the deadly nightshade plant; calcarea, calcium carbonate from oyster shells; sepia, from cuttlefish ink; and the element, sulphur.

Homeopathic remedies today are produced using the same dilution principles as in Hahnemann’s day. In a common dilution of 1:100, one drop of the homeopathic substance is added to 99 drops of water and/or alcohol. The mixture is then potentized by a process called “succussion” – repeated tapping on a hard surface for a specific length of time. Remedies may be diluted up to 1000 times, leaving only an infinitesimal trace of the substance. Remedies are typically diluted 10, 100, or 1,000 times, which translate into potencies that are marked with the Roman numerals X, C, and M. Homeopathic remedies range from 6X as the lowest potency to 1M or more as the highest potency.

Remedies can be taken orally in pill, powder, or drop form, rubbed topically, or injected. There are usually no side effects from homeopathic treatments, but a patient can experience what is called a “healing aggravation,” a temporary accentuation of symptoms. This is seen as a positive sign that the remedy is working. Depending on the severity of the symptoms, a homeopath may choose an antidote, which produces the opposite effect of the remedy. The antidote may be another homeopathic remedy, or a strong substance, such as perfume, camphor, or coffee, which are known to block the effects of a remedy.

In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recognized homeopathic medicines as drugs since 1938, working with the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Convention to produce and update their reference book of homeopathic medicines. Over the years, the FDA has classified homeopathic medicines as either prescription or more commonly as non-prescription (over-the-counter), depending on their strength. In the United Kingdom, homeopathic medicine has been part of the National Health Service (NHS) since it began in 1948. There are currently five homeopathic hospitals in the NHS. Homeopathic medicines are available over-the-counter or by prescription.

Safety of Homeopathic Medicines
Because of the very, very small doses used in homeopathic treatment, the medicines are completely safe, non-addictive and have no unwanted side effects. The curative properties of the remedies are released even in extremely high dilution‹and render the medicine completely safe for the treatment of both children and babies.

Always consult a practitioner before buying homeopathic remedies, and make sure that they are kept safe and out of the reach of all children.

Where dosing instructions have been followed, no case of toxic action has ever been reported in association with homeopathic medicines.

Receiving Homeopathic Treatment
Homeopathic treatment is practiced by fully qualified Health Practitioners who understand the philosophy of homeopathic medicines well as patients’ emotional and daily situations.

While some homeopathic medicines are readily available in both regular pharmacies and health stores, you MUST consult your homeopathic practitioner before attempting treatment for any serious ailment or illness.

If you are currently on medication for a serious medical or psychological condition, you should NOT stop taking your medication in order to start homeopathic treatment. Your practitioner will advise you on the best course of treatment, often working with your internist or therapist.

How to deal with allergies and what products to buy to help alleviate the problem.

When you go to your local drugstore you will see a great deal of products professing to cure your allergies. This includes hard goods such as HEPA air filters, vacuum cleaners, bedding, clothing, cleaning supplies, washable toys, cosmetics, moisturizers, pills and vitamins, etc., etc. The list is quite extensive.

The question is, do they help? Do they really do what they say they can do? Well let’s have a look.

The first place to look is on the Internet. There you’ll find descriptions of various allergy products and antihistamines. Whatever you can afford there’s a product for you that will end your pain and suffering.

Don’t get fooled by all that you see on the Internet. It’s a good place for research and information, but when it comes to actually figure out what you need to help you, you have to dig deeper than the surface as it’s a complicated issue. That’s because there’s just so many different allergies one person can have. You can be allergic to cats and most dogs. You can be allergic to dust. You can be allergic to the medicines that you are told to take to stop being allergic. Then there’s dust allergies, perfume allergies, food allergies, outdoor allergies, indoor allergies, and the list goes on.

So what to you do?

First off you need to know exactly what you are allergic to. A doctor specifically in the field of helping people with allergies would be the best place to start. He or she will give you medical tests to see what allergies you actually have.

After you get the results back, it’s time for real research. Take your time learning about your specific allergy(ies) and reading about the various products purporting to be able to help you with your allergy(ies). Make sure the product matches your type of allergy. For instance, if you have airborne allergens, then an air filter would help you alleviate the problem. An allergy to pet dander is a good example of an airborne allergen.

If your problem is dust mites, are known to cling to bedding. Not only should you be using a vacuum on the, but there are new beddings that prevent dust mites from coming into contact with you. This includes inexpensive pillow cases, blanket covers, and mattress covers.

If your problem is with plant-based allergens, air filters will not do the trick. Allergens derived from grass clippings, ragweed, etc., are effectively kept out of your house by keeping doors and windows closed and using an air conditioner.

When your allergy doctor gets back the results of the tests, you will be able to discuss with him or her how best to solve your problem. If you want to go the homeopathic treatment way, there are doctors specifically geared to that type of treatment.

Wellness and fitness is an important ingredient in daily living.

Media is filled with health and fitness information. It’s in all the magazines, on all the radio shows, and on television. There are articles galore and advertisements wherever there is space around the articles. These articles and advertisements are meant to get you thinking about your own wellness, your fitness and health in the U.S.A. They are geared towards making you feel you must do something to yourself to get yourself in shape and healthy.

This leads you to wonder about what level you are on in the scheme of things. Are you absolutely fit and healthy? Can you do more to become more fit and healthy? How should you go about making sure you are as healthy as you can be? What you need is a health and fitness counselor who can test your fitness level. After your doctor determines you are well enough to undertake a fitness program, go to your local gym. Your wellness level and your fitness level are not the same thing, but they each rely on the other one to keep you fit and healthy.

Your immune system determines your wellness rating. Taking vitamins, supplements and your dietary intake helps your immune system to be healthy. Being fit doesn’t necessarily mean you are well. Not being fit doesn’t necessarily mean you unhealthy. However, exercising and eating healthy works together on your overall being. Doing both gets you on your way to good health and fitness.

It is very important when undertaking a program on wellness you incorporate both fitness and nutrition into what you do. However, as mentioned previously you are probably finding yourself bombarded with advertisements and articles on the subject. So how do you determine what nutrients to take and what type of exercise to do. Well your exercise can be taken care of by a counselor at a gym. However, you might not be getting the whole picture as to what you need. Maybe what you need is so inexpensive that it doesn’t pay for anyone to even tell you about it? After all, anyone can exercise—with or without a gym membership.

When you see our doctor they want you back as a patient. So it is not in their best interest to tell you the entire facts you need to stay fit and well.

As for wellness, it’s basically down to your eating habits and vitamin intake. You have to work daily on what you eat and what your vitamin intake is to remain healthy. This is true for both your mind and your body. As discussed in a previous article, you need good nutritional protein to keep your mind well. It comes down to this: No protein, no intelligence.

Wellness encompasses our state of being, mind, and health. It is a condition of the whole. Wellness is a condition of the mind, body, and soul.

This article focuses on the tests and diagnosis of Carpel-Tunnel-Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a condition arising from the compression of the median nerve innervating your fingers and lying along with tendons within the carpal tunnel. This tunnel is about the size of your thumb. When this tunnel narrows due to certain factors such as injury or swelling of the tendons this can apply pressure to the median nerve causing symptoms characteristic of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Symptoms associated with this condition usually have a gradual onset. These can include frequent burning, tingling, or itching sensation and numbness in the palm, fingers and wrist of the affected hand. Occurring usually in one or both hands during the night, you may wake up with a sudden urge to ’shake out’ your hand or wrist. And as the condition progresses, you may experience symptoms during the day as well. Chronic and/or untreated cases may be characterized by weakness and wasting of the muscles at the base of the thumb.

If you feel any of the symptoms above you should consult your doctor right away to determine whether or not you are suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome so that early and appropriate medical intervention will be given.

Diagnosing carpal tunnel syndrome

To prevent permanent damage to your median nerve, you need to undergo immediate diagnosis and treatment. Your doctor may do the following to establish a diagnosis of CTS:

* Physical examination

Your doctor will physically examine your hands, arms, shoulders, and neck to help him determine if your symptoms are related to your daily routine or to an underlying medical problem, so he can rule out other conditions with similar symptoms. Your wrist will be assessed to see if it is tender, swollen, warm, and discolored. The sensation in each of your fingers will also be evaluated, and the muscles at the base of your hand will be examined to assess their strength and to look for signs of wasting (atrophy).

* Routine laboratory tests and x-rays

These routine tests will show any underlying medical problems that may be causing your symptoms such as diabetes, arthritis, thyroid disorders, and fractures.

* Tine1 test

In this test, the doctor will tap or apply a little pressure on the median nerve in your wrist. When you experience tingling in your fingers or a shock-like sensation, the test result is positive.

* Phalen test

Also called the wrist-flexion, this test requires you to hold your forearm upright by pointing your fingers down and pressing together the back of your hands. If you feel any or all of the symptoms such as tingling, worsening numbness in your fingers within one minute, you are most likely suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome.

* Electrodiagnostic tests

Often times a more definitive diagnostic test is needed. Hence you may be recommended to undergo electrodiagnostic tests. Electromyography involves insertion of a fine needle into a muscle to measure its electrical activity as viewed on a screen to determine the degree of damage to the median nerve. A nerve conduction study involves placement of electrodes on your hand and wrist. Then minute electric shockwaves are introduced to measure the velocity of impulse transmission carried out by the nerves.

* Ultrasonography

Through ultrasound imaging, the impaired movement of the median nerve can be observed to establish a carpal tunnel diagnosis.

* Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

Although MRI can reveal the anatomy of your wrist, it has not been particularly useful in establishing a diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Learn the Risk Factors of Carpel-Tunnel Syndrome

You may have heard of someone you know who has just been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). It may be the first time for you to learn of such a medical condition. If so, you might have found out by now that it is a condition characterized by pain, numbness, or weakness in the affected person’s hands and wrists. Although such painful sensations may arise from other conditions, carpal tunnel syndrome is considered the most common and prevalently known among the various neuropathies that are due to compressed or traumatized peripheral nerves.

The carpal tunnel is a passageway containing the median nerve that innervates your thumb, index finger, middle finger, and the middle finger side of your ring finger. As such, it provides sensation to the palm side of your thumb and other fingers except for the small finger. It also innervates the muscles in those fingers that are responsible for their movement. The tunnel also contains nine tendons supporting the bones and muscles in your fingers. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition wherein the median nerve is compressed or injured as a result of various factors.

Learning about carpal tunnel syndrome, especially if you know someone who suffer from this condition naturally brings you to the question of its associated factors. You would certainly want to know whether or not you are at risk of developing this condition.

The risk factors associated with carpal tunnel syndrome include the following: Your dominant hand is usually the first one to be affected, and the symptoms it experiences are greater in severity.

* Sex

If you’re female, your risk is three times greater than the average male, probably because the carpal tunnel may be smaller and narrower in women than in men. A woman’s risk of developing CTS generally heightens after menopause, and a man’s risk also peaks during middle age.

* Genetic factors

If you have relatives with carpal tunnel syndrome, your risk may be greater too. This risk is more related to the physical characteristics, such as size, shape, and length of your carpal tunnel.

* Underlying medical conditions

Your risk of developing CTS is also heightened if you have other metabolic and hormonal conditions that have a direct influence on your body’s nerves increasing their susceptibility to compression and injury. Such health conditions include diabetes, thyroid disorders, rheumatoid arthritis and obesity. Hormonal changes brought about by pregnancy, menopause, and oral contraceptive pills may also increase your risk. Pregnancy-related fluid retention may also lead to carpal tunnel syndrome, which usually improves after childbirth. If you smoke cigarettes you may experience worse symptoms and delayed recovery than people who do not smoke.

* Type of work

Although the incidence of carpal tunnel syndrome is not limited to a single industry or job, and clinical data positively identifying repetitive use as a direct cause, this condition is prevalently seen among people involve in assembly line work such as manufacturing, finishing, sewing, cleaning, and packing of meat, fish and poultry.

A study conducted by the Mayo Clinic in 2001 revealed that heavy computer use of up to 7 hours a day did not result in increased risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome in the participants.

This is a 3-part article. This first part is an overview of Carpel-Tunnel-Syndrome.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a condition resulting from the compression of the median nerve that runs from the forearm into the hand. This nerve lies within the carpal tunnel, a narrow passageway that houses not only the median nerve but also the tendons that support the muscles that allow your fingers to move. When this nerve is squeezed, twisted, or pressed for any reason, carpal tunnel syndrome occurs.

Signs and symptoms

In most cases of carpal tunnel syndrome, symptoms have a gradual onset. You may experience the following:

* frequent sensations of burning, tingling, itching, or numbness in your palm and fingers, particularly the thumb, index and middle fingers. Although little or no apparent swelling is observed, you may feel your fingers are swollen and useless.

* Piercing pain radiating to the forearm or even shoulder, and down to the fingers

* A feeling of weakness in your hand affecting your grip strength usually causing you to drop objects

* Loss of sensation in your fingers may occur if your condition is advanced and/or left untreated

Causes

CTS may result from a combination of factors that lead to the compression of or increased pressure on the median nerve and tendons in the carpal tunnel. These causative factors include:

* Underlying medical problems such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, obesity, thyroid disorders, etc.

* Hormonal changes due to menopause, pregnancy, or oral contraceptive pills have also shown to cause narrowing of the carpal tunnel in some cases

* Repetitive and forceful use of the hands and wrists may also cause swelling of the tendons which can lead to the compression of the median nerve

* Injury or trauma to the wrist such as sprain or fracture

Diagnosis

To confirm a carpal tunnel syndrome diagnosis, your doctor will do any or all of the following:

* Physical examination

* Routine laboratory tests and x-rays to rule out any underlying condition

* Ultrasound

* Tine1 test

* Phalen test or wrist-flexion

* Electromyography

Treatment

Carpal tunnel syndrome may be treated with either non-surgical therapy or surgery.

Non-surgical treatment

Drugs – To relieve pain and inflammation, you may take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin, ibuprofen. Corticosteroids (prednisone) may also be prescribed by your doctor to reduce swelling. Lidocaine may also be injected directly into your wrist to alleviate symptoms.

Exercise – This should be done once symptoms have abated, and under the supervision of a physical therapist or an occupational therapist

Alternative therapies – These include acupuncture and chiropractic care although their effectiveness in carpal tunnel syndrome is yet to be proven

Surgery

This is usually recommended for carpal tunnel syndrome patients whose condition persists for over 6 months. There are two types of surgical treatment for this condition namely:

Open release surgery – Performed under local anesthesia, this traditional procedure involves making an incision (up to 2 inches) in the wrist and cutting the carpal ligament to enlarge the carpal tunnel.

Endoscopic surgery – This can either be two-portal or single portal surgery. A two-portal surgery consists of making two 1/2 inch-incisions in your palm and wrist, inserting a camera linked to a tube, observing the tissue on a screen, and cutting the carpal ligament.

Symptom relief is immediate after surgery, but complete recuperation from carpal tunnel syndrome can take months. After effective treatment, carpal tunnel syndrome rarely recurs as most patients attain complete recovery.

After being diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), you and your doctor naturally explore various therapeutic modalities for you to treat your condition. Depending on the severity of your symptoms and the extent of median nerve damage (if present), a treatment plan is laid out for your specific case.

In most cases, especially in mild uncomplicated cases, non-surgical treatments are prescribed, as these can usually lead to relief of symptoms. However, you may also wish to try alternative therapies and natural remedies to treat your condition. If so, then this article can help you in your quest for such alternative treatment for your carpal tunnel syndrome.

Natural remedies

Be sure to do the following to minimize your symptoms and prevent nerve damage:

* Have quick and frequent breaks from any activity to rest your hand, and perform slow circular motions with your hands to promote blood circulation and relieve pressure.

* Apply cold packs to minimize occasional swelling

* Immobilize your hand by using a simple splint which you can buy at a local pharmacy

* To help alleviate pain, apply a heating pad or a warm moist compress to the affected area

* Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) supplementation of about 50 to 200 mg daily for up to three months has been considered beneficial in providing pain relief and improving function in some CTS patients.

Alternative therapies

You can also try other alternative therapies to help alleviate symptoms associated with your carpal tunnel syndrome. Such therapeutic measures include:

* Laser acupuncture – This procedure involves the application of painless, non-invasive red-beam light and microamps transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) to the acupuncture points on the affected hand.

* Chiropractic approach – This treatment is generally targeted at finding out the underlying factors causing the symptoms rather than simply treating them. A chiropractor usually examines the neck area first, rather than the wrist, and adjusts the bones of the neck (the cervical vertebrae) to free the affected nerves from pressure. The neck is commonly involved in carpal tunnel syndrome affecting both hands.

* Physical therapy – Considered as the cornerstone in the management of CTS, this therapy aims to avoid surgery. Physical therapy may consist of the following: (1) gliding exercises that move your fingers in a specified pattern, (2) contrast baths, soaking your affected hand alternately in warm water and cold water may provide relief of symptoms, (3) deep pulsed ultrasound can alleviate numbness and pain and can help restore the strength of your hand, and (4) use of C-Trac, a traction device, has shown to be effective in relieving symptoms in some cases of CTS.

* Homeopathy – Among the most commonly recommended homeopathic medicines for carpal tunnel syndrome include (1) Apis mellifica for swollen, hot, or red joints, (2) Arnica Montana for sore, painful muscles due to overuse or trauma, and (3) Guaiacum for CTS symptoms that are relieved by cold compress.

There are many causes for Carpel-Tunnel-Syndrome. Please click on the "more" link to learn some of these causes.

Although some people might believe that carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a relatively new condition brought about by extensive hours of computer keyboarding, such belief is quite erroneous. Carpal tunnel syndrome is not new at all. Medical records that date back to the turn of the 20th century show evidence of people suffering from signs and symptoms associated with this condition.

Carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway located on the palm side of your wrist. This passageway, whose diameter is about the same as that of your thumb, is bounded by bones and ligaments on its sides. This tunnel also protects the median nerve, a main nerve innervating your hand, as well as nine tendons that enable you to bend your fingers. Any condition that causes narrowing of the tunnel may lead to the compression of the median nerve, which in turn, can result in numbness, pain, and eventually weakness of your and wrist.

Causes of carpal tunnel syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is mainly the result of increased pressure on the median nerve. Being a complex nerve, the median nerve has a dual function – sensory and motor. It innervates your thumb, index finger, middle finger and side of your ring finger that lies next to your middle finger. Thus, the median nerve is responsible for the sensation and movement of those fingers.

The compression of the median nerve can be due to several factors that result in the reduction of the space in which the nerve lies within the carpal tunnel. The narrowing of the tunnel may be caused by the thickening or inflammation of the synovium (lining and lubricating layer) of the tendons in your carpal tunnel.

Although no exact cause can be given for the narrowing of your carpal tunnel or the swelling of the structures around it, several conditions and factors such as follows may play a key role:

* Other medical conditions

Health conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid disorders, diabetes, menopause, pregnancy-related fluid retention, deposits of amyloid (an abnormal protein substance secreted by your bone marrow cells) may cause swelling of the tendons within your carpal tunnel.

* Recurrent injury

Frequent or recurrent injury to your wrist can also lead to swelling that usually results in the compression of the median nerve at several locations. Injuries such as trauma, sprain, and fracture, and mechanical stress in the wrist joint can all cause swelling that narrows the carpal tunnel.

* Physical characteristics and congenital predisposition

The physical characteristics, particularly the size and length of the carpal tunnel are variable in many people. Your carpal tunnel may be narrower than the average, or it may be shorter because you’re petite. A few cases of CTSe may be due to compression at more than one point along the median nerve as directly influenced by the size of the tunnel.

* Repetitive and strenuous use

If done forcefully, excessively and for extensive periods without appropriate rest, repetitive flexing and extending of the tendons in your hands and wrists can likewise increase pressure on the median nerve within the carpal tunnel. However, there is very little clinical data that show evidence of the association between repetitive use and carpal tunnel syndrome. Repetitive and excessive use generally leads to other conditions such as bursitis, tendonitis, or writer’s cramp rather than carpal tunnel syndrome.

Non-Surgical Treatment for Carpel-Tunnel-Syndrome - Please click on the "more" link

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) should be treated as early as possible. So if you experience the classic symptoms of this condition such as tingling numbness, pain and weakness of your hands and wrists, don’t wait too long before seeking medical consultation. Be sure to have your hands and wrists examined so that proper diagnosis may be established.

If you have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, you will need to discuss with your doctor the possible therapeutic options that are best for your specific case. If you suffer from a certain underlying medical condition like diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis that may be causing your carpal tunnel syndrome, that condition must be treated first.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is treated initially by resting the affected hand and wrist for at least two weeks, not engaging in any activity that may aggravate symptoms, and immobilizing the wrist by splinting it to prevent further injury due to twisting or bending. You may also apply ice packs on the affected area if it is swollen to minimize inflammation.

Depending on your specific case, your doctor may recommend the following non-surgical therapeutic modalities to treat your carpal tunnel syndrome:

Drugs – Various medications may be enough to alleviate the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome in certain cases. These drugs include:

* Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin, mefenamic acid, ibuprofen, and other nonprescription pain medications which may relieve mild pain and swelling due to a rigorous activity or symptoms characteristics of pre or initial stages of CTS.

* Oral diuretics to relieve fluid retention (called water pills) can also reduce swelling.

* Corticosteroids (prednisone) can also be taken to minimize swelling. However, these should not be taken without a doctor’s prescription, and prolonged use of these drugs should be avoided by patients with diabetes or at risk of developing diabetes.

* Lidocaine can also be injected directly into the wrist to provide immediate, but short-term relief of median nerve compression that is causing the symptoms.

* Vitamin B complex (particularly pyridoxine) supplements have also shown to help alleviate symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome in some studies.
