The place to go for absinthe (as did Hemnigway in his day) in a slightly shady part of town. Take care of your belongings and take in the bohemian atmosphere and lethal green liquid they are serving up at the bar!
- Sifó, c/Espalter 4
Across the street from Marsella is this very cool Argentinian bar/restaurant/club. Fully stocked bar, even the bar staff don't know exactly what they have in the shelves. Nice, tasty dishes and groovy club nights to boot.
- Boadas, c/Tallers 1
A classic. On the corner of Las Rambla, caters to a "grown-up" clientele who go there to be treated to no-nonsense cocktails made with care by professionals.

The Forum

With lots of paved open spaces and angled surfaces the congressional center and, sometimes, concert arena is ideal for these types of activities. The Forum won't win the award for "best smelling area" in Barcelona, though. The city council seems more concerned with overseeing the mushrooming of high-rise hotels in the area than dealing with the odeur of sewage that prevails. Still, not bad enough to stop you bringing something with wheels to roll around on....

La Festa Major de Gràcia
is Barcelona's biggest neighbourhood festival running between 15-21 of August. The charming Gracia neighbourhood is taken over by fire-runners (Correfoc), paraders, revellers, strange papier-maché creatures,tourists and general spectators. The fiesta is a great opportunity to experience the rowdier, fun-loving side to Barcelona and Catalan culture!
