The Azden transmitter-receiver system has operated marvelously well for me over scores of interviews. As an aspiring video maker it was a product I should have bought a long time ago.

Mine is the 9v-powered model, not the AA. But it has proven well-made, light and easy to use.

There's something neat about micing people with a lavaliere unit. I find that they enjoy the attention of attaching the mic and the professional touch that it brings to the taping.

Being able to range abut the room while taping and simultaneously retaining good audio is a remarkable experience. Another benefit of micing someone is that cuts way back on ambient noise. The din of voices surrounding your interview is a typical intrusion; using the lavaliere cuts out a great deal of the unwanted sonic information.

Overall, this is a good investment for beginning videographer. It works as described, yet I found that it's sound needed post work if it was going to be presaentable. My standards are not unrealistic, yet I was disappointed when I first worked with this mic. It comes with a lavalier mic, and a handheld. Of the two, the handheld pickup better, and is more manageable. Both only record in mono, so you have to set your camera to place the signal on the two channels, or do so in postproduction.

Still, if you wish to use a mic that is dependable, is inconspicuous, and has a small learning curve, this mic could serve your purposes.

Affordable and effective. Didn't pick up a lot of background music or talking, and got a good deep sound from the person wearing it. Used it for a wedding and the other wireless systems used didn't interfear with it's opperation nor did the background clog up the mic.

I ordered this mic/receiver for my kodak zi8 (note: the customer service people at Kodak told me the zi8 is not capable of using a wireless mic. They were wrong). I've been playing around with it for the last few weeks. It is REALLY nice. Although the mic is much bigger than a traditional wireless lapel mic, it's no big deal to me. Not to mention this thing is pretty sensitive. You can wear it on your pant pocket or some other "hidden" spot and it still picks up your voice no problem. I cannot comment on the battery life since I have not used it for an extended period of time. The distance is AMAZING. I have easily exceeded the 150ft max range and had no problems. At times the communication between receiver and mic is lost from a further distance if the line-of-sight is lost but if you find the line-of-sight it usually picks it up right away. I'm an instructor who is teaching an intensive course this summer. 4 hours of lectures each day for one month. As luck would have it I developed a cold and a nasty cough 1 week before this course started. Typically in this situation I will lose my voice after just 2 long lecture days. This course lasted a month, so I HAD to resort to using a microphone.

I started by using the college's VHF based PA system, which gave horrible interference and feedback. I then took this PA system and plugged it into our lecture kiosk computer using a 3.5mm which feeds the output into the overhead speakers. Because the system was VHF, there was a loud static noise if I walked too far from the system, and there was interference from the PA speaker from cell phones.

When I ordered this wireless lapel mic setup, it was for an interview with a congressman. One of those times when it just needs to work. Well when I received it one of the transmitters was not working.

I called the company and they had a replacement on my door step UPS Red in time for the interview. Audio 2000 get's a five star rating for customer service, very refreshing in today's world.

The day of the interview, they worked as advertised and the sound quality was good. My only comment is I would like to see a VU meter on the receiver instead of a flashing LED.

In a basic test the units worked well at about 100 feet with the receiver inside a building. I also found out from the company that you can purchase an additional hand held mic to go with the set.

I've been using these for a few months now.

Just before I forget - there is a #1 and #2 on these mics - so make sure you have the right one plugged in and the right XLR going out - it took me a moment to figure that out since my last mic wasn't a dual system.

I had a Shure mic before this set and it had amazing quality. These definitely aren't as amazing, but for the money they really do the job. I use them in a multimedia presentation room that has quite a bit going on (several PA/wireless Mics, remotes for laptops/laser pointers/projectors, etc) and I don't find a problem with interference. I probably film about 40-50 feet back from the speaker. Using both mics works easy and well.

The plastic on the mics and the way to open the battery casing feels a little cheap. The base unit seems strongly built. The squelch seems a little week but then again I don't really have a problem with it.

As a sound engineer for our church, I have worked with true high-end wireless microphone systems, both Shure & Sennheiser. I have also gone cheap on more than one wireless set-up for my own use, only to be disappointed every time.....except with the Pyle PDW-M5500! Wow....I was really surprised by how good these mics sound.

The microphones themselves have good balance with just enough heft to damp out some of the handling noise. Additionally, they are coated with a soft-feel coating, which eliminates the scratchy, hissy sound you get with cheap plastic. Fit & finish of the mics is good, and the windscreens are nicely made, eliminating most (but not all) breath & pop sounds.

Fit & finish on the receiver isn't quite as high, and the extruded aluminum faceplate has an 80's retro look. There are numeric displays for each of the 4 channel volume settings, with LED indicators for RF carrier and audio level, again, for each channel, which modernizes the... Read more

I work as a Karaoke DJ. I recently purchased the PDWM5500 after my old Audio2000's AWR6547DU met an unfortunate end. I wanted something less expensive since I'm frequently dealing with intoxicated people.

Out-of-the-box impressions:

Pros - The receiver has dual antennas, independent gain controls for all 4 mics, and a balanced XLR mixed output. It comes with rack mounting hardware for those who need it. The mics use AA's instead of 9V, and don't feel too light (once the batteries are installed).

Cons - As others have mentioned, the battery covers come off rather easily. I typically have to wrap a piece of clear packing tape around the base to keep them on. The antennas on the receiver cannot be removed and have no means of being locked down when not in use. The buttons on the front of the receiver feel cheap and one of them was almost pushed inside the unit, though it still works.

This is a very good setup for the money. One of the mikes picks up a local radio station but with three others working flawlessly I have no worries. I can get a range of better than 100 feet, even through steel stud walls. I have had to wrap each mike with some rubber bands to keep the battery covers on but those batteries last a good long time.

Although the microphone unit itself feels heavy and well-built, the wireless portion is junk. The base of the mic will accept either the included XLR cable or a wireless 'stub.' There is a small base unit with an extending antenna (about 12" long) which connects to your audio equipment. You'll need to buy an extra 1/8" to 1/8" mono cable to connect to a PC sound card.

The wireless reception is abysmal. If you move around while singing into the mic, it keeps dropping signal and emitting a loud static 'snow.' Even standing nearby (10 feet) and carefully orienting the microphone with the base antenna, the signal inexplicably fades in and out.

At least the unit was very inexpensive...not worth my time to issue a return. The mic may work fine with the XLR cable, but I didn't test it that way (that's why 2 stars instead of only 1).

Had to yell into the mic to get any output. I have other Pyle products and have been pleased with their performance. Not this one. Contacted Amazon for return and refund. Quick, easy, painless, no hassles. UPS came the next day with a return sticker. Got refund notice that day. I find Amazon has great customer interaction. I wish more companies took the time and and effort to please their customer base. Probably why I shop here instead of with those jokers.

I was looking for a wireless microphone system for home use; I wanted a front mount antenna so I can mount it in a 19 inch pro audio rack, the look of shure SM58 microphone grill. So, I bought this one and had this wireless GTD Audio system for over a month, it has been working really well for home karaoke, everyone who were using this microphone were all happy. The microphones are look like a thousand dollars worth, but cost less than $200. It has all the pro features such as, RF signal meter and audio signal level meter, battery indicator, channel frequency read out, infrared sync between the receiver and microphone, easy to set up. There are 200 selectable frequencies 100 per channel; you can choose the frequency that works best. I use the XLR audio out from the back of this unit and run each microphone to separate microphone channel on the audio mixer so I can adjusted the effect individually. I am happy to say this was a good purchase. This 8 channel microphone system is perfect. Really like the ability to control each microphones volume from its own separate control. The headsets are comfortable to wear, and as far as the mics go, great working range, clear sounding voice through this system. More channels than I need at the moment, we use 5 usually, but have used all 8 and been satisfied with the performance. A nice system for our office, well built and priced right for a good wireless system.

These are way cheaper than others I've seen and the work just fine for this price range. The mics have a surprisingly good sound- plenty of ability to handle sharp and loud vocals with out distorting or feeding back. I am honestly thrilled that these sound as good as they do.

I've had this set of mics for about one year now. I must disclose an amazing fact: there is absolutely no feedback no matter how close you stand to any of the speakers! I have 7 speakers around an area where I use this set of mics. I use them for Karaoke parties. Any one can have a mic standing right next to any of the 7 speakers and there is absolutely no feedback at all sound and mic levels. The Shure does know how to capture voice. This set of mic is very sensitive while not very draining on batteries. On another note, I did purchased a set of rechargable batteries from Amazon.com (You can serach my review to find it). I had generic brand, Panasonic, Sony, and few other types of mics before. None of them can come even close to the performance of this set of Shures! For the Amazon.com price, I highly recommend this product. I've been a very happy customer :)

Have been looking for a wireless set to supplement my old UHF Gemini dual system mics which are 5 years old. I must say they still work well with the exception of one mic has a mild radio hiss but that is old technology what I guess I am trying to say that is the Gemini products work well. But I chose Shure this time around and I am very happy. I even bought a second set. Yes these are expensive and I could have gotten the new Geminis at 1/2 the cost but I opted to go for the newer and higher end technology and have been very pleased.

They work well, have very clean sound, and are super easy to change frequencies.

The only negative is that they do eat 9 volt batts. For our medical conferences we use high capacity rechargeables and charge them out at every break 2-4 hrs. They will no way last a full day. Even alkalines didn't last a full day so keep that in mind. No battery indicator by the way they just die.

This is a fantastic deal. 4 UHF wireless mics that are of decent quality. For $350 They are not as high quality as say the Sure Mics, but these are perfect for my karaoke setup. Great reception, upside is that they use AA batteries instead of 9volts, so that will help in saving $$ and virtually the system will pay for itself in battery savings.

The range on these mics is decent as it picks up lows mids and highs very well. Feedback on the microphones is easy to control with the squelch and volume settings on the receiver. The weight has a nice feel in your hands. Color coding on the bottom of the mic helps identify what channels to adjust when you have multiple singers.

Also I was pleasantly surprised to see that this comes with a professional looking silver carrying case. When I placed the order I was all set to go out and buy a case to custom alter to the Mic system for transport. I opened the box and there was the awesomeness of the carrying case... Read more

I have been using these mics for a couple weeks in rehearsals and for church. So far they have been pretty reliable in use, though they do have problems when too close to the receiver. So if that will be a factor for you you may want to consider it. Sound range and reproduction is very good. I have not been able to get quite as much gain out of them as I like. For example, when this mic is handed to an inexperienced singer or speaker who holds the mic down by their bellybutton, you are pretty much lost. All in all I am happy with the functioning of this system, and very pleased considering the cost. Oh, and the case is a very nice touch.

Boy, am I ever disappointed in Shure. I've been in the business for 20+ years using Shure products, wired and wireless. I'm also a licensed professional engineer to give some comfort in my credibility. My church recently started having some issues with our old Shure UHF wireless transmitter (10+ years old). I thought it was time to purchase a new unit. After reviewing the specs between the PGX and SLX systems I couldn't see any difference in the printed specs other than some bells & whistles in the receiver unit. I chose to purchase the PGX24/SM58 unit to save a little money as we didn't really need the extra bells & whistles. Got the first unit, hooked it up, sync'd the mic, set the gain structure, ready to go. During the service I noticed a lot of audio distortion coming from the unit, and I'm thinking maybe low batteries came with the unit. I put in new batteries after the first service. This microphone does the job!....great sound, easy to set up, and haven't had a single problem with it! I certainly don't get any "extra noises" from this microphone as I ever did with a wired microphone! It doesn't pick up every single "puhhhh," "sssssss," or "plunk" when touched or tapped. I'm very happy with it....Only thing though, I recommend getting rechargable batteries...as you'll need to have an extra pair or two if playing long shows as do I....usually 4 hours plus. Most batteries and brands last a good 4-7 hours....but sometimes it just seems that some brands don't last as long as the others...cheaper in the end to just buy the rechargable ones....it doesn't take long...and they last a good while!

Thanks Shure for making such a wonderful microphone!!! Will certainly stay with company forever!

First the good: The tonal qualities are great, I'm running about 62% on the gain (50% is straight up) and getting good volume. Even with shouting I'm not getting any overloading. You can optionally order beltpacks (headset or lavaliere) on the same frequencies to mix and match wireless hand-held and wireless beltpacks. And a high-end headset is optionally available for guitar vocals. VocoPro also has matched form-fitting windscreens in 5 colors, which don't match the frequency colors for some reason. Also love that the metal case has foam cut-outs to store the mics.

Now the bugs: Our church is moving away from 700Mhz, and this is the first 600Mhz equipment I've used. I've heard there might be a few hiccups with signal strength in this less desirable frequency band, and that's what I'm seeing. Even though the receiver is only 65ft away (vs 150ft max), with the stock screw-on antennas you can forget about mounting it in a rack. Even with direct line of sight... Read more

I used all 8 of these these mics at a religious musical performance outdoors and at a Pre-school children's year end concert indoors and they performed satisfactorily during each event.

When use in cramped spaces close to other equipment, they tend to give dead spots. I also noticed a bit of RF hash trailing words, if the trebles are accentuated.Hence use them with Treble at flat ( non boost ).
An improvement I would have liked is signal strength levels for each mic channel, so that I would know which channel is needing boost / bucking, when all are singing at the same time.

Extremely pleased with this product, and think it is an excellent and value buy for what it delivers. I ordered from the UK where equaivalent systems would cost in excess of �1300 pounds. Extremely durable, hard wearing and very easy to use. We use it for school productions with young children who consequently mishandle the mics. The microphones can pick up voice from 1 foot away if put on max and the range is also very good. It even comes with batteries and a nice foam box to hold the microphones. We have broken 3 systems to date but this one is heavy duty. I would recommended it but am not a professional. You will need to organise your microphones though when on stage so you know which one is 1,2,3 etc. I cannot fault the product nor even the dispatch time. TOP marks to Pyle!

We have this on our karaoke system and it works fine. With the mics in the charger it's a little on the tall side and difficult to fit in a cabinet, so we just charge the batteries on another charger. The included batteries are only 600mAh so plan on replacing those. The sound quality is good and voice is clear (no static). I'd give it 5 stars for value.

These mics work very well. The receiver unit is very ample, and the construction of the microphones is very impressive. Anyone who can't figure out how to hook them up shouldn't own them. The vocal quality is excellent, and if you kill the batteries its your own fault... shut them off when you are not using them (the microphones themselves.) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

As an author and professional speaker, I've known for years that a high-quality, wireless portable PA system would be a tremendous asset--if I could find a top-notch unit at a price I could afford. That was a big enough "if" to keep me straining my voice through several decades of readings, workshops, and presentations in school and college classrooms, auditoriums, senior centers, banquet halls.

I might still be procrastinating, if sudden and severe vocal cord damage hadn't made it clear that I could no longer afford NOT to own a portable wireless PA system.

After considerable research, I settled on the Hisonic HS120B--and the only regret I have is not having bought this remarkable unit decades ago!

All of the features work as advertised and I'd have to say its design is better than another competitive product I've also used, the Nady WA120. I expect it will turn out to be more durable than the Nady as a result. However, there's on big caveat; the amplification is not a powerful as the Nady.

For those who want to use it for large room with 40-60 people, the lack of power may be a deal-breaker. If, however, one is just looking for a unit that will help with a small group in relatively small rooms, this still may be the best choice.

I was tempted by the low price of this item. The only reviewer before me gave it a 5-star rating. Although aware of the unreliability of a single review, I decided to gave it a shot, and paid $10 for shipping--no other way since it's sold through a third party. $28 later, I was holding the biggest $#!* I've seen in a while! The construction feels very cheap, and the instruction manual makes absolutely no sense as if written by a 3-year old. And the worst of all, only one of the two microphones worked. Even the one that works is horrible--the sound out of the speaker is very weak unless you cup your hand around your mouth and the mic. It uses a 9-volt battery in each of the two mics, and that's another 5 bucks out of my pocket. You know what? I'll probably have to eat the $33, since the seller does not refund any shipping charges and charges a hefty fee for returns. Well, I learned a lesson...things are cheap for a reason!

Ok, so it's not the best wireless microphone. But I paid a total of $24 which includes shipping. Two wireless microphones for $24 is great. The hissing sound can be bothersome at times, but it's not really distracting. You do get a few interferences here and there, but it's only once in a while. It's not perfect, but it performs well for the money.

And like a previous reviewer said, beware of the instruction manual. It's a disgrace. The grammar is horrible and there are tons of typos. Whoever wrote that needs to go for writing lessons really badly.

Overall, it's worth the money. If you're looking for something perfect, you might want to save up for something better.
