Re: I am sad....

Clover is very easy to deal with. Don't despair over clover.

Also don't be so sure it's Annual Bluegrass. Kentucky bluegrass is putting up seedhead about this time of year in Pa. So just because you see seedheads you shouldn't assume it is Poa.

Now assuming you can be certain that it is Poa Annua (and not KBG), I'd suggest a selective killing of it before it does put out more ...

Oh it's certainly more expensive. But the upfront cost to try it out isn't ~$300 it's a much more reasonable $80. It's not that I wouldn't pull the trigger on an upfront cost if I knew I would use the product regularly and that it would perform as advertised - but a 4 year investment the first time out seems... excessive to me.

Re: 1.91 inches and we aren't done...

No, according to the squirrels you are merely allowed to maintain things so they have food and water.

Cylindrical rain devices from any Home Depot or Lowe's or garden store will measure the rain but exclude the squirrels. Ditto with most digital devices, but you may not want one depending on your setup on the deck.

You might want to avoid the area around azaleas and rhododendrons with that, they tend to be rather boron-sensitive. Amounts that small won't hurt, but better safe than sorry.

Re: Tony!'s Soil Test 2012

+1 Andy. In either case, a pretty nice soil. The exchange capacity is a bit lower than I like, but workable, and the number is consistent with the results from the jar test. Just for funsies, I'm calling it 50% sand, 50% silt, an even split, with no real clay to speak of.

Re: Birch's soil results 2012

Spreader's great, and I do find the hand whirlybird spreaders work pretty well for potassium sulfate. I did it by hand, but most people don't want to do that...

Although you can put the micros and the potassium down at the same time, there is a slight potential interaction with 20 Mules. It's nothing I worry about, as you get the bound up K back eventually and it's not all ...

Re: Just overseeded, need advice on watering.

It sounds OK on the watering, but the overall plan has some major leaks...

The chances of successful KBG seeding at he end of May are pretty low. All right, they suck. And even if some is successful in getting a root system established before the hot weather arrives, you've got the long-term issue of KBG not doing well in a mix that includes grass mix that includes ...

I have been following this thread from the beginning, and here's my take. The close up pics are clearly not examples of normal turf behavior or morphology. If it was, then most people would have it, and there probably wouldn't be a thread about it. So let's say it's fungal in nature and let's rule out all the warm season diseases; summer patch, brown patch, fusarium, dollar ...

You need to learn to watch the signs and put it down when it needs it and not just because it is Saturday, or the first of the month, etc. Conditions change, and you adapt to what the ...
