The Canadiens are at home to the Buffalo Sabres, up 3-2, and coming off a huge win.

The Knights vs Avalanche series, the Western Conference Finals, kicks off on Wednesday.

Let’s get to what will hopefully be the final game of this series!

Canadiens vs Sabres Game 6 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Sabres were leading 3-2 after the 1st but the Habs scored the next 4 and came away 6-3 winners in Buffalo. The intensity was still there but there wasn’t any penalties in the 1st. The Habs went a percect 2-2 on the powerplay.

With game 6 in Montreal I would think that the Canadiens should get the job done here. They surely don’t want to let it go to 7 games where it’s back in Buffalo.

I picked them to win the series so I guess that’s what I’ll be playing tonight Canadiens win in regulation. There hasn’t been a game go to overtime yet in this series. I would much prefer including overtime but the odds for that are below our minimum so have to add the regulation win.

Graeme: I’m happy to stick with advanced metrics, especially in a game like this, and go with player props. Had the nice one last time out with Zucker getting at least a point.

Going to go with a different logic here from the Ducks/Knights – in that I expect Sabres to play their game more, with the Habs feeling the pressure a bit more at home to wrap it up so will focus on a player prop from them.

So based on advanced metrics on the road – lets go with Jack Quinn at least a point at 2.10 odds.

A hard one for Minnesota fans, but a fascinating game to watch. Just the way the Avs grinded away and worked at them was impressive, and really makes me think they might just take the cup.

We’ve got two games tonight. Sabres vs Habs and Ducks vs Knights.

Sabres vs Canadiens Game 5 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Sabres went with Luukkonen in game 4 after Lyon was beat in games 2 and 3 and the Sabres won 3-2. There was a fluke goal that had it not when in it would have been a different outcome.

With the series back in Buffalo it’s tough to back the Habs here. I’ll go again with a player prop. He has been a huge part of the Sabres success and has 6 points in his last 5 games so I’ll take Benson to register at least 1 point

Graeme: I’ve no idea what the scheduling logistics will be – all I know is I will be in Montreal next week for the F1, and there is the potential of a Habs game one of those nights so I am cheering on Montreal like I haven’t cheered them on before in this series.

Game 4 was such a disappointment. Habs power play was not good at all. But this series has been all over the place and if one team was over 2.00 odds I’d probably back them as it does seem to be 50/50.

I’ll go with a player prop based on Sabres home advanced metrics. He actually has a pretty terrible record for the playoffs thus far, bbut going with Zucker to get at least a point at 2.55 odds. From everything I am seeing, he is good for tonight but definietly keep an eye out for that prior to making the bet. One I’ll be placing later on this evening.

Ducks vs Knights Game 6 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Knights won game 5 in overtime and it was the 2nd game in a row to be decided by a single goal.

Tough to call a winner here. They have traded wins so if that continues then it’s the Ducks turn to win. He’s on a 3 game point streak and has 5 points in last 5. I do expect the Knights to try and end the trading of wins so Dorofeyev to register at least a point

Graeme: It was a tight one last time out. It’s a very hard series to call, and now the Knights go to Anaheim looking to wrap it up. It’s a perfect flip at the bookies as they don’t have a clue either.

Ducks will likely alter their game a bit with it being backs against the wall, so I’ll go with a Knights player prop. I’m on Pavel Dorofeyev at least a point at 1.76 – so same as Scott.

They had all the power plays in the world, but still lost at home to Buffalo as the series is tied up 2-2. That was a perfect spot for them too.

The Knights needed OT annoyingly, but they were able to overcome the Ducks and now head to Anaheim with a 3-2 lead looking to wrap it up.

One game tonight. It’s a potential series ender.

Avs vs Wild Game 5 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Avs got back to winning after losing game 3. It looked worse than it was though as 2 of their goals came with the Wild goalie pulled. The Avs also started Blackwood after Wedgewood was pulled in game 3.

With this game back in Colorado the edge does go to the Avalanche. But the Wild are a strong team so it won’t be easy. I’ll go with Kadri to register at least 1 point again. He is on a 5 game point streak and with each game in this series being high scoring that if this continues, which I expect it will, he will show up on the scoresheet.

Graeme: I think this one is going to be too much for Minnesota. In my head I am just picturing a couple goal win for the Avs. I’m going to go with Avs in Regulation.

They thumped the Minnesota Wild 5-2 which was a confidence boosting win, and you have to think it will be a surprise if they blow it in Game 5.

That takes place tomorrow night.

In the meantime we have two games tonight. The Habs, up 2-1 in the series, host the Sabres. And the Knights host the Ducks in their 2-2 series.

Let’s get to it:

Canadiens vs Sabres Game 4 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Canadiens dominated the Sabres in game 3. This was also the first time in these playoffs that the Habs have won 2 in a row. This was the first road loss for the Sabres in this postseason.

With game 4 still in Montreal and with the momentum of a rare win streak the Habs are going to be a tough team to beat here. The Sabres should win here to tie the series but it’s not something I’m going to tip. I expect a big effort from them here so I’ll go with Josh Doan to get at least 1 point for 2.20 odds. He’s on a 4 game point streak and has 7 points in 9 games during this postseason.

Graeme: At the 1.83 odds, happy to take Demidov to get a point again. I did the analytic analsis last time, he proved it right, his odds are good – why not.

Knights vs Ducks Game 5 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Ducks responded to getting blownout in game 3 with a much better looking game for them in game 4. Dostal looked alright too after getting pulled in game 3.

For the Knights Stone missed the game but Marner continues to shine picking up 3 assists after his hat trick in game 3. I can see the Knights having a big bounce back game here. For that to happen they’ll need goals. So I’ll take Brett Howden to register at least 1 point. He has points in last 2 games and in 4 of last 5.

Graeme: I won with the Ducks last time out – but I just have a strong feeling Vegas takes this one comfortably and am going with Knights in Regulation.

Not basing this off anything specific. Just one of those things. I don’t believe Stone will be playing and that is obviously a factor – but I still think the Knights take it here.

We had 4 different bets, none of which conflicted with the other, and all four came in! That would be about a 13/1 accumulator.

We had the Habs to win with Demidov getting a point. He got a key assist as the Habs ran out 6-2 winners.

And with us backing the Ducks to win and over 6.5 goals, we got the perfect result as the Ducks ran out 4-3 winners.

Great little night for betting.

One game tonight and it’s an interesting one as the Wild host the Avs in Game 4.

Wild vs Avalanche Game 4 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Wild got themselves back on track with a convincing win. They now have a chance to tie the series up. Kaprizov and Hughes looked great.

With them taking their first loss of the playoffs I do expect a better effort from the Avalanche. But now that the Wild have gotten a win do they follow that up and tie the series. Kadri is on a 4 game point streak so Ill go with Kadri to register at least 1 point

Graeme: This is such a difficult one to call. I mean by the odds and how the last game went, you’d want to take the Wild at about 2.20.

But then you think about how lop-sided Game 2 was and I guess Game 1. And it’s a weird one too because the Avs series was pretty tight against the Kings too and now this is completely open.

I will say overall metrics for the series, over 6.5 looks good but I really don’t know if we see a different game from either team now after the way the last game went.

I like the idea of a player prop again and I enjoyed yesterday how I approach it from home performance advanced metrics. Just felt good when that came in ya know? So going to do that again – Landeskog at least 1 point based on Avs road advanced metrics in the playoffs. Which isn’t a lot of games but by the regular season advanced, he’s jsut behind MacKinnon there in a lot of key categories.
