Fight Analysis: Frankie Edgar is a machine… a cardio machine and an attack machine. But BJ is the prodigy. He didn’t get that name by chance, but is just a natural fighter. He is stronger than Edgar and he is more talented than Edgar. He is just not as fast and can tire out. What will happen on this second fight? BJ will be mad. He will be more conditioned and will take this fight to Edgar like he has never seen. BJ will get him to the ground in this matchup and use his excellent flexibility and BJJ skills to end the fight.

Fight Analysis: Toney has more than a punchers chance in this battle… he has power behind those hams that is likely not seen in the UFC in any division. However, he is going against a seasoned veteran in Randy Couture. Couture definitely has to watch out for the explosive fists, but he can handle it and will take Toney to the ground. Couture is also very, very well conditioned. I see Randy taking Toney to the ground fairly easily and tiring him out. By the second round all the fight will be out of Toney and Randy will submit him with ease. Could be the first round.

Fight Analysis: Even after the Silva debacle, Maia is a well-respected and dangerous fighter. He has serious skills both standing and on the ground (especially dangerous on the ground) and while Miranda has excellent takedown defense, it is just not up to par with the caliber of fighter Demian Maia is. This fight will go to the ground rather quickly, IMO, and this (eventually) will be where Maia finishes.

Fight Analysis: I believe that most will pick Florian for this fight and I am no different in that respect. Florian has seen the Gray Maynard type over and over again and truly knows how to deal with him (IMO). While Gray has the potential against Florian, Kenny is a bit quick and agile. He will keep Maynard standing and frustrate the crap out of him.

Fight Analysis: Most are saying that Nate Diaz is too young, quick, and talented for Marcus Davis. However – I believe that Marcus Davis may be a little too tough for the current talent-level of Diaz. While Diaz definitely has the reach and the ground game – Davis will get inside that reach and land some power punches that will rock Diaz’ world.

Fight Analysis: While there has been a lot of talk around this matchup (mostly by Sonnen), this is one that (on the surface) seems easy to predict. Sonnen will keep Silva off balance (or at least try to) in the first round (early part of the round) and then when Silva finds his reach, he will put out some minor punishment. As Chael keeps attempting to take Silva down, he will get caught with some blows and that will be the end of the story here.

Fight Analysis: If the Clay Guida fight isn’t fight of the night, this one will be. John Fitch sets and amazing pace and Thiago Alves is brutally strong. Fitch will weather the early storm and continually frustrate Alves with attacks upon attacks. Alves will be strong at first, but will be worn down by Fitch’s aggressive style. Fitch will eventually control Alves on the ground enough to get the decision….. if Alves doesn’t catch him with a power strike.

Fight Analysis: This may be the fight of the night. Nearly every fight that Guida takes part in has this potential, though. Guida is quick and doesn’t mind trading blows in a very unorthodox fashion. Dos Anjos is a good grappler with good submission skills and plenty of cardio. Guida has both power and cardio on his side, but add a bit of ground and pound to this and you may begin to see where this fight is headed. To the ground. Guida’s pace will get to Dos Anjos and after a ton of quick blows, the fight will go to the ground with Guida forcing a stoppage.

Fight Analysis: I see this as a very boring matchup, in reality. Both fighters are not top strikers, although Ricardo definitely outclasses Hughes in this area with quickness and youth on his side. Almeida will edge out this win on the ground, but it will not be a dominant fight for him. Just a win.

Fight Analysis: This is a very interesting matchup with Junior Dos Santos, who is strong and with great abilities takes on Roy Nelson who, by all appearances, is just fat However – there is a very deceiving element to this fight. Roy Nelson. He is much quicker and tougher than people give him credit for. Dos Santos is exactly what people expect and want from the UFC – A tough fighter with tons of power. Roy Nelson also has a lot of power and even skills on the ground which will help him edge out the win. While this fight may start off with some devastating blows by Dos Santos, Nelson will shrug them off for the most part and look for a ground-game setup.
