I am one of theses bloggers, and sadly I am well aware how correct Cassini is, I'm just posting the facts, trying to change, trying to develop the correct mindset. Not easy, but I won't quit until I do. Btw, be thankful for muppets like me, I fear we may provide for some of the jam you put on your bread and butter.

Also, 500-5000 questioned the veracity of my claimed loss on the NBA. I have heard of people make false claims of profits, but surely false claims of loss are rarer?. Unfortunately, the selective memory Cassini refers to in my case seems to apply to profits. I cannot forget the losses.

Back to Basics

Once again the demons are near the surface. I found myself scanning betfair @ 2.30 am this morning looking for ANYTHING to bet or trade on, I fucked away 70Euro on NBA basketball, what a muppet. I withdrew my bank and decided to start again. I limited my deposits to €50 (just re read the post, I had a typo of €450 earlier) per week as I know what's potentially round the corner.

I decided to trade the gee gee's today with that 50€ bank. I changed the toy setup and removed all the charts and indicators that I have been using and decided to trade with a total bank of €50 pre race.

I traded 11 races and won a small few quid.What was my strategy ? €25 stakes , all back bets (very important change for me, I instinctively lay horses putting huge chunks of my bank at risk) and just waited for them to come in. If they didn't I got out, if they did I greened up.

Look at the set up, no charts, no indicators just watch the market. Proximity to certain prices (I call them threshold prices as the tick sizes change at these prices, an example is 10.0, below 10.0 each tick is 0.2, above it each tick is 0.5). Just watch the movement, back it if it "feels" right, not very scientific I know but I am getting no joy from indicators or stats. I've got loads of notes and records from Jockey / Trainer / Track combinations regarding tendency to shorten in price but I now feel they are all bollox. The markets are totally unpredictable, pick one back it, if he drifts to a red of about €3.50 , get out, if he steams in wait for the price turn and green up. Not very scientific is it ?

Here's the results below, you can see a red for €7, that is because I'm actually a dumb fuck, it was a green trade about 4 minutes before the off. I got up to answer the door and didn't green up, returned afer buying a raffle ticket and was down 7€. I hope to fuck I win the €4,500 as the ticket cost me an extra €10 instead of the face value of €2 due to my stupidity. If T,M,D and C come up I'll be smiling.

I constantly got in and out of the market, based entirely on feel, no charts, no graphs nothing just relying on he thousands of hours I have spent staring at these markets. I want my instinct to guide me as I have tried everything else, and failed.

Once is unlucky, twice is careless, three times is just plain dumb. US racing, I am well aware the off times are not as quoted on the cards so I have got caught a couple of times trading races that were not on the TV screen. Guess what, I had a nice trade going in the 19:30 Turf Paradise - 1st race tonight. One of the 2 likely favourites was steaming so I got on as was waiting for ATR to go back to the race to lay for a tidy profit.

Before ATR came back to Turf paradise the dreaded "SUSPENDED" flashed and the race was off. I did it again, all my own fault. Another days profit (€47) gone, just as I was making a bit of progress. I'm livid with myself, and here's the rub, the horse fucking won, for €207 profit. Luck, lucky me.I am blissfully aware that this doesn't detract from the fact I'm still a fucking muppet.

Signing off now, I have just broke €300 for the day, (another 1/2 to be settled on top of below screenshot), although €207 was pure luck, nearly €100 more wasn't. Are things improving ?

Today - My Finest Hour ?

Started today with €266.11 in the account as I'm operating under a deposit restriction I withdraw any real winnings (got €200 from Munster yesterday and I took it out).

I don't what a good profit for this bank would be for pre race trading but as I speak I'm getting to what I would consider a decent return. I always said if I had the discipline and could have a bank of €200 I'd be happy with €10 a day. I'm not posting the profit yet but am occupying myself as the current race is the bumper in Fairyhouse and I don't like the market. I'm trying to stay out of it so I'm drafting a post for the BLOG. Half an hour now to the next Kempton race and I'm finding it hard to concentrate, note to self, STAY HYDRATED (thanks to A. Heathcote, LOLOLOLOL), so I'm going for lots of Guinness - 95% water ?

By the way , it was not my finest hour because I won 50 quid, I've won and blown multiples of that on single races in the past. It's the fact I'm starting to anticipate the markets and I accepted multiple reds. Should have gotten out of some of them earlier though and I got out of one trade way to early and won €11, should have been about €25. Overall, as it happens, I'm thrilled.

Sunday morning coming down

My own version this morning is, it is not my head that is throbbing but being a full blooded male, well , you know. Problem is, my wife's clock of amorisity (I hope I just invented that word) is not synchronised to mine, so, as she pretends to be in the depths of the deepest sleep in the history of man since Snowwhite, I've removed my self from the boudoir, much to her relief I'd say. I suppose there's something complimentary in the fact she currently feels unequipped to cope with the 30 seconds of unbridled lust I was about to embark on, if given the license.

Anyway my in depth knowledge of sport was highlighted again yesterday pm when Munster pummelled The Saints, away. Two post ago I expressed my fears for an ageing Munster side in decline and gave them no chance of a home quarter final. Up pops Simon Zebo with three tries and they now qualify as top seeds, take that you D4 "Guoys"(posh part of Dublin). The strange thing is as I watched the highlights, having seen the game live, my wife entered the room and I offered switch the channel just as Zebo celebrated try number two. As the camera focussed on him she instructed me to "Leave the rugby on".

Here's a picture of him, I wonder why she just developed an interest in rugby. If I piece together her "deep sleep" this morning and his emergence yesterday, I could suspect there's something going on, but that would be paranoid, wouldn't it ?

Oh yes, finally the point of this post, thanks to the punter who put €200 on Northampton Saints @ 1.12 when leading the game with about 10 minutes gone. Even had Munster lost I would lay the bet again, around 70 minutes left, Munster unbeaten, O'Gara on the pitch, are you fucking crazy ?

Homer trade,how to select and act - Results now updated

Been a bit of discussion on trading football on the TOY FORUM and I'm trading a game I like the look of tonight.

I use BSN (see link on side of page) to select games with suitable prices for the strat to work. I must point out this is not necessarily a green light to trade as 2 games fit the homer price criteria tonight but I'm ignoring the second game selected below.

Above screenshot is from Betting System Notes and is shows how handy it is to scan ALL the betfair Games on tonight to select the ones that meet THE HOMER strategy criteria.

Tranmere don't score enough home goals for me as per image below -

Kilmarnock do, so I'm trading the homer.

If Kilmarnock score a goal during the first half I win ~ €20, if not I lose ~ €20 (unless Dundee win 3-0 and there's another story,- the perfect result) , there are other eventualities during the game I can adapt to but the staking strategy predefines the profits / loss.

Don't believe it but I won, only won 18 on the homer as I traded out a bit early to use the green to trade a basketball match. My liability was the green on the soccer and I could have greened ot for €14 profit but got greedy. In the end I settled fora virtual scratch. Then Traded 2 US horse races while waiting for other markets to settle.

Summary :
Kilmarnock won for the homer : Profit
Tranmere didn't score but I didn't trade as I didn't like the stats - Yippeee
Traded 2 horse races and won €12 : Profit.

No trading or any form of betting since Friday. I went to Thomond, froze my nads off and watched the worst game of rugby I have ever night. When I compare the Munster performance to that of Ulster Friday night I think that Munster's journey in Europe this year is almost over. Home draw or not, I just don't think they are good enough, and I pray they don't meet Leinster at any stage because a trimming awaits.

Dismal Game but an upside

Had a straight bet on Liverpool tonight Vs City. City without Silva and Kompany are not quite the same and I suspect their motivation would not have been quite that high. Absolutely dismal game and as Hansen said, Liverpool went to a flat back 9 after half time, but I suppose a win is a win.I'm slowly learning and withdrew the profits immediately to prevent the inevitable idiocy. My deposit limit is still absolutely necessary and still in place.

I finally think I have a strategy that may bear dividends on pre race trading and hope to pursue over the next week. Funny thing is that I'm comfortable using it on Betdaq and it really is only applicable in the last 5 minutes before races. I'm not really concerned about the trading itself, it's the gaps between races that my silly mind needs to fill. The importance of stake size, queue position and entry points is absolute and still can't believe after all the hours I've spent watching and participating in markets how little I know. Entry points that are NOT near tick change prices are also critical. I also learning not to try to predict how markets will go as I believe it is a pointless exercise. I will leave them develop and react, if I'm wrong I'll exit, if I'm right, I'll exit. Just gotta guess more rights than wrongs and have been doing that quite well in Betfair test environment over the past few days. I hope my behaviour remains consistent with real cash.

I wont be trading (euphmmism for losing money ?) Saturday as I have just secured tickets for the Munster Vs Castres European game and am looking forward to the usual Thomond atmosphere.

For any fans of the BLOG I will be available to sign autographs, breasts or anything at all outside the stadium from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm. I will erect a sign proclaiming my availability and excellence so please form an orderly queue. I expect to be gone by 3:30 though, as my sporting wisdom will undoubtedly be requested by the SKY Sports commentary team. Back to the same old rigmarole in that I'm starting with a lot less than I should be. I lost 75% of my bank over the last 2 days through impulsive stupidity and crazy punts.

Gotta face the fact I can't do this. I also feel that's quitting. I'm the kind of person who doesn't accept "I can't" or "it's too difficult" from others so why should I accept it from myself, so, as the gambling addict once said, I'll give it one more go, again. I can't even watch a market without getting involved as I'm convinced that there's cash to be earned in every single market. I'm not naive enough to believe I will profit in them all but do believe I should be able to profit in more than I lose in. I seem to control my winnings by cutting them short but when it comes to losses, that's another story. From an objective point of view and if I were an outsider looking at my behaviour I would despise myself and my actions. Idiotic beyond belief yet I still do it. No more self analysys as it's just retrospective crap. Do it or don't do it, no excuses, I'm an idiot or I'm not.

BTW, I felt City were unbelievable value @ 2.38 but am just hearing the team, maybe not , the market has shoved City out from 2.18 to 2.38, am I missing value and overcautious as I fimly believe United are in sharp decline. Maybe my logic as a Liverpool fan is clouding my opinion of United but I'm glad to say I feel a fallow period lies ahead.

This is not a pessimistic post on the ups and downs of trading. I traded very little for the last week and only reloaded €200 yesterday cos I deliberately lodged and withdrew my limit in case I got stupid during the festive season. I wasn't out much because I got ill but I couldn't trade until yesterday 'cos I couldn't lodge. Anyway, nice couple of days but tempted to withdraw before fuckwit me returns.

Had a nice day today , my oldest turned 21 and I have just deposited her to a night club to meet her mates. We went ice skating with her 8 year old sister. My lack of coordination was shocking and I gave in timidly and left the ice when I looked up and a 5 year old Nigerian kid asked me if I needed help getting up. Correct me if I'm wrong but they don't get too much ice in Nigeria so how bad must have I been ?

As I left, one of the ice marshalls told me between hysterical giggles that I resembled a 2 day old giraffe with one leg, nice, and he was only about 12.

Just noticed the "L" key is jammed on the keyboard thanks to my daughter managing to get half a crunchie lodged under it while on Moshi Monsters. Tried to find all the missing L's but I fear they will become prevalent as the year progresses. I cant thing of too many swear words that contain "L" so I should be OK.

Maybe that can be my new years resolution, learn to express myself in a more eloquent fashion, now there's a progressive thought. Ah, fuck that, when your brain resides in the cesspit of emotions that mine resides in it is impossible to describe one's discontent in a befitting manner without resorting to the lowest realms of expression. Posting this to report on my miraculous recovery and behavioral change, but I wont tell lies.
I have had a bad run lost back quite a bit of the money I recovered from the 270 I lost stupidly. I have eroded the recovery and have only won 90 of the 270 back, in other words I have lost €190 since my last post. This was initailly due to poor trades but now I see the old me beginning to resurface.

Some nasty behavioral issues, starting to punt rather than trade, typically having 2/3 winning trades for 5/6 Euro, then lose 10 on a red trade. Next thing I know I have a bet in the race and so the cycle begins. I have just now withdrawn €200 and left in enough to trade with as I begin the quest again.

I'm lodging 200 also, then withdrawing immediately. Why am I acting like a crazy man ? I have a deposit limit of €200 per week so by lodging now then witdrawing immediately I'm perventing any further injections for a minimum of a week. As I have said, I keeping enough to trade with but not leaving the door open for the rash of impetuous stupidity I feel simmering at the moment.

Internal acrimony is present, self loathing building, nasty times ahead I fear, not moaning or feeling sorry for myself, just observing emotions.

Bored at work and so sick from drink. I still have 370 hours to take for holidays so I took the afternoon off, and traded. As you may know I dumped €270 through stupidity the other day so I'm trying to win it back.

Now I have to turn on the TV to see how the neo-con pricks that run our once fair isle propose to take it back off me. It's budget day today in the land of thieves and spoofers, but our fucking idiots are so self important that it's spread out over 2 days. Why they didn't just forward us the email they got from Hitler's Bunker (sorry , that should have been the ECB, Freudian slip) I don't know. Maybe they needed to translate it from German first, after all it's not our mother language, yet.

Haven't being spreading my verbal slurry for a while so it's time I posted.All well with the football trading but it's boring as hell to be honest. To somebody who has the compulsive gene bubbling very near the surface I have struggles to trade and not gamble. I know there are many that will say there is no difference but from somebody who in the past could amass a bank of €1000 in an hour, then lose it again in another I would completely disagree. Trading is a structured approach to trying to make money by placing a series of bets in such a manner that will, hopefully, provide a green outcome. If not there is a structured approach to "getting out of the trade" at a predetermined loss point. It could be argued that a person who only places win / lose bets in certain markets with a predefined staking plan is doing no different to trading. I admire these people, like patient speculation but it is not for me and frankly, bores me shitless.I like to play with larger amounts but cannot afford to lose larger amounts so with trading I can place a back bet of €300, then a contradictory lay bet at a smaller price and generate small profits, if I get the market direction correct. It's simple, get in and out before the start of the race, take the profit/loss and move on to the next one.

So, what can go wrong, I lost quite a bit by being unable to accept a loss and allowing the event to start with the intention of getting the loss back in running. This worked numerous times but as with an 1/8 shot, they do not win all the time. I learned through the painful loss of banks not to go in play trying to recover a pre race trading loss, and don't any more.

So that's it then, I have it sussed, what can possibly go wrong ? I'll tell you what, you could be trading with large amounts in the US racing market pre race and become so absorbed you don't notice the off and with US racing there ain't no in play market. So, here I was , I had been trading a 3/5 shot with a back bets to the tune of €270 on him when the race started. Being a 3/5 shot he naturally lost and so did I, €270 down the tubes, abso-fucking-lutely fucking great.

No one to blame but me, none of the pathetic hard luck stories I used to rely on after backing another 3 legged donkey like I used to in the punting days. I have one excuse, terminal stupidity and laziness, not enough attention to the "now" and probably more crucially, stakes much too large. I felt like throwing the rest of the bank on the next race but tried to trade, got fed up and got out.

I mentioned it on a post on the geeks toy forum (My handle there is PC0845) and found I wasn't the only idiot in the room. The ironic thing was I actually commented on the dangers of trading US racing and the race off times about 1 hour before I lost the €270 due to that very issue. As I said there, don't do as I do, do as I say.

The only positive thing is I didn't just piss away the rest of the bank and have now begun the long road to recovery of the €270. Not very well sadly.

Funny thing the psyche, well mine anyway. I feel like I'm in a good place, dunno what it is, it's not work, it's not my home life, I'm really lucky that way and have no problems there. I'm no better off financially than I was when I was semi psychotic, I can't explain it. I think I feel that I am slowly learning trading and it has a positive impact on me. I don't mean that I am oscillating from depression to ecstasy as is my normal behaviour, rather I feel a kind of satisfaction, like I've stumbled on a kind of mental equilibrium.

I hope it lasts because I'm not used to it. Doing a little trading and trying out stuff and surprised at the relative ease at which small sums can be frequently made with multiple market entries. To explain, my normal pattern with pre race trading is to take a position, lay or back and then sit there and wait to be proven wrong or right, I usually win a mediocre amount or lose a large amount. Obviously, for this to be profitable I need to guess correctly a lot more frequently than I guess wrongly. I am careful here in the choice of the word "guess", the more I seek enlightenment via indicators, market behaviours and other awesome variables the more I am convinced I cannot predict the moves. I have therefore decided to simply nip in and out of markets frequently at qualifying points that require very little analysis. Messed around with micro stakes on the dogs and "proper stakes on the horses", look below, food for thought.

A BID to have Fine Gael TDs, Senators and their staff adopt a formal protocol for addressing each other in Dail Eireann has provoked the ire of one blue blood representative.

Leinster House is not Downton Abbey said Senator Paul Bradford in response to a direction to address parliamentarians correctly.

An email sent following a Fine Gael staff information meeting instructed members: “Staff are at liberty to use first name terms, if appropriate, within offices. However, in the public areas of the House staff should address members with their correct title (Deputy/Senator) as they may be in the company of businesspeople/constituents/representatives of public/private organisations.”

Former Cork East TD Mr Bradford, who is married to Minister of State Lucinda Creighton, was not best pleased, according to a report in today’s Irish Times.

He replied: “I appreciate that Downton Abbey has become a must-see TV drama for many, but I was rather surprised that its last century ethos appears set to invade the parliamentary party.

“I am referring of course to the ‘Good Morning Deputy, Hello Senator’ regulations which have been outlined. I’d like staff to know that I can always be addressed on first name terms as I have been during all my years in Leinster House,” he said.

“A simple Paul is good enough for me.”

Gone through the wringer with gambling over the years and lost a hell of a lot of money..

Trying to trade now and moderately successful (I'm not losing and thats successful for me).

Yesterday, set myself up for a full afternoon trading the horses as I had an empty house (women went shopping) and At The Races.

Trades a couple of races well and realised even though I had won, I didn't care, no emotions , no highs, no lows just bored, so fucking bored.

How does this happen ? Why do I only seem to get emotional when I have a losing trade, a green screen prompts no response while a red flicks some switch in me. Was so bored I actually stopped trading , shut down the PC , went to the pub to watch 'Pool Vs Chelsea and got absolutely hammered. I went at 2pm to be sure I got a good seat.

Why is only losing trades that trigger emotion for me ? I fear this is not good for the long term.

Just read the last few posts this am and realized there's a lot of bad language and frustration and anger in me. This is a dangerous mental state for trading for me, might just shut everything down until equilibrium returns, but I'm mad to try the new toy today. What to do ?

The betdaq bit is also important, I had an ancient account that had not been in use as I love the toy (you may have gathered that by now) so I used betfair to lose my money. Their new charges PC, and PC2 sadly don't affect me now but that's not the point. The principle of losing 60% of hard earned profits simply because you are good at something is wrong. Anyway, I rang betdaq, reactivated the account and will pay 2.5% commission (already better than bet fucking fair) so hope it goes well. I'm going as soon as the purple toy (sounds like a vibrator) is available and hope to stay away.
