Kim & Mike are getting married Saturday! In their honor, I am finally posting their sweet McConnell’s Mill engagement session. No, I wasn’t aware of the weight limit sign on the red covered bridge, but someone on facebook was so kind to point it out. But, Kim & Mike never complained. I have the best clients. And seriously, might be my favorite outtake so far. I still laugh out loud when see or even think about it.

Orlando, FL Wedding at the JW Marriott | Allison & Arno

Our friends, Allie & Arno had their wedding at this gorgeous resort called the JW Marriott in Orlando, FL! We are so lucky to be able to capture this day for them because we absolutely had a blast photographing everyone having SO MUCH FUN and then Sam & I were eventually able to take turns playing the air guitar or holding a limbo stick. No room for words here, just pictures.

Pittsburgh Engagement Session | Sewickley Park | Amanda & Shane

Amanda and Shane are getting married this Friday! It seems like yesterday we shot their engagement session on a gorgeous summer evening of 2011. I just finished re-reading their responses to my “get to know you questionnaire”. I will just admit that I have this really dorky smirk on my face as I type this, because their answers were so sweet. It’s like I’m watching the end of a romantic comedy, the part where FINALLY the guy and the girl kiss after all they’ve been through to get to one another. And we’re all cheering in our heads (well, the girls anyways).

I send these questions to my couples after we finalize the booking process for me to understand them a little better. I usually read them right away, again before the engagement session, before I blog (ok, so forget that one) and before the wedding. I find the answers full of unique stories, experiences, likes, dislikes, dreams and wedding anxieties so interesting to read. I have always been someone who likes to be armed with information before setting out to complete a task. When I understand even just a little more about a couple and the two individuals that make it up, it validates what I’m capturing through the lens. Them. And that’s what the wedding is about. I can potentially capture any shot a million ways. I have endless choices with settings, lenses, flashes, composition, and editing. Having a sense of who a couple is, makes it much easier to bring focus to that real-ness of, well, them.

North Park Lodge Wedding | Pittsburgh Wedding Photography | Rachel & Marc

Sam here! Yesterday may have been wet, grey and cold… but the chemistry between Rachel and Marc was enough to break through all of that. It stopped raining just in time for us to go out and get some great pictures of these two newlyweds outside of the North Park Lodge. Thank you both for letting us help you celebrate your awesome wedding day! We had a great time, and from the looks of it, so did everyone else!

While we were in Florida the last couple of weeks, we had an awesome experience shooting an Indian wedding with Sona Photography. Stephana has been a friend since the freshman dorm days (you know when we were studying restaurant management and nursing.) She has this unique mix of creativity, intelligence, drive, and free-ness. I always love being around her, and it was quite amazing to watch her in action.

Congrats Ria & BG! Sam & I were so lucky to be a part of this day. Here are a few images – a very small peek at our team effort from the day!

Pittsburgh Wedding | The Priory | John & Rachel

Hey there! So, are you ready for the longest blog post in the history of ever (for Beth Insalaco Photography)? I simply can’t choose. It was cold, but Rachel & John kept each other warm. In fact, the whole bridal party kept each other warm. There was hugging EVERYWHERE. I won’t lie, I like photographing hugs. I also enjoyed getting to know them prior to the wedding day:

Q. How did you and your fiance meet? (Asked by me on a very deep-thought-provoking questionnaire my clients receive after they book.)

A. We met on the steps of his fraternity house at Washington & Jefferson College. I had just returned from studying abroad, and it was one of the first weekends of the year. We went to the house and I was literally mesmerized by his smile. After a few weeks of on campus and Facebook stalking we finally crossed paths again on Homecoming Weekend when I decided I would go talk to him. Unfortunately the only think I could think to say was “I would like to have 9 of your kids…” which was a very awkward introduction. After that I thought we would never talk again (I was pretty embarrassed), but instead John took to Facebook stalking me, and finally had one of my sorority sisters introduce us (minus the alcohol and partying of Homecoming). Pretty much after that its history.

Good lord, I love this girl. And I love how it’s so obvious that John loves her (see below).

Kennywood Park Engagement Photos | Rachel & John

Rachel & John are getting married next weekend and it’s our first wedding of the year! I’m so excited to start 2012 wedding season off with these two. As you can see, they are incredibly fun, making each other smile non-stop and so obviously in love. I predict smiles, and lots of them.
