Bethel is hosting, THE RESPONSE: A CALL TO PRAYER FOR A NATION IN CRISIS prayer service Saturday, Aug 6th 10:00AM—11:30AM

The leaders of Bethel are gathering for a prayer service 10:00am-11:30am in the Sanctuary.

The Sanctuary will be open for “come and go” prayer until 5:00pm.

American leaders
have issued a call to prayer for our nation in crisis. Join with thousands that will

gather in Houston’s Reliant Stadium and across the nation.

What If?

What if . . .

What if tomorrow’s gathering of God’s people could be MORE THAN JUST THE NORMAL . . . more than routine, more than just another Sunday.

What if God’s people came with hungry, repentant hearts . . . what if faith was stirring, and hope was thriving . . .

What if there was a sense of expectancy in the air? A sense that “God is here and He desires to meet us. He longs to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. He longs to bring wholeness not only to our spirits but to our minds and spirits as well.”

I write this morning, asking you to pray with me for tomorrow’s services – both AM and PM.

In the morning I will address the question, ‘Is There Hope For Healing?” I am well aware that the gifts of healing are largely non functioning today in the Lord’s church, at least not in America. I am also aware that there is great need among God’s people as well as the people of our community. Needs for healing. Needs for the miraculous.

What if . . . what if God wanted to demonstrated His holiness and His power right in our midst? Right in our service . . . right in our hearts and families.

Please pray with me. Fast a meal today if you are able. Get alone with God, seek His face.

Tomorrow evening, as you have heard me announce, there will be prayer for the sick. Both those who will come and those who will be “stood in for” by someone.

I am asking you to be in tomorrow night’s service -- come with expectancy, come with faith believing. I plan to be in the sanctuary at 5:00pm for an hour of prayer before the service . . . you are welcome to join me.

I am convicted by the words of Andrew Murray,

“The Church of Christ needs to hear clearly announced that it is on
account of her worldliness and unbelief that she has lost these
spiritual gifts of healing (I Cor. 12: 9) and that the Lord
restores to those who, with faith and obedience,
have consecrated their lives to Him.
This grace cannot reappear without being preceded
by a renewal of faith and of holiness.”

In the morning I will be asking the spiritual leaders of our congregation to set aside time tomorrow afternoon to seek God’s face and THEN COME TO THE SERVICE AT 6:00PM with a readiness to pray for the sick, hurting, discouraged, trapped, stuck and more . . . all those who need a touch from God.

And I am certain we all do in some measure.

Scripture passages for each of us to read and meditate upon:
Ps 103:2-3; Ex 15:26; Jer 30:17a; Mt 9:5; Mal 4:2; Acts 3:6; James 5:14-15; Is 53:4-5; Mat 8:16-17

One final quote from Andrew Murray:

“After being stopped for more than two years in the exercise of my ministry, I was healed by the mercy of God in answer to the prayer of those who see in Him ‘the Lord that healeth thee’ (Ex. 15:26). This healing, granted to faith, has been the source of rich spiritual blessing to me. I have clearly seen that the Church possesses in Jesus, our Divine Healer, an inestimable treasure, which she does not yet know how to appreciate.”

May we grow to appreciate fully and deeply, the treasure we have in Jesus, our Divine Healer.

Gratefully and Expectantly,

68% say it makes them feel physically healthier,
73% say it lowers their stress level,
92% say it enriches their sense of purpose in life!

*from Success Magazine, 9/10

This gives us three great reasons people should volunteer; even with its frustrations and challenges, serving is fulfilling! Nearly 100% of people who serve will feel "enriched in their sense of purpose in life." Wow... that's a great deal! When you add to that the spiritual rewards that come from serving what an incredible opportunity each one of us has.

There are many volunteer opportunities available at our church. Some only requiring a couple hours of time and not a life long committment. If you want to have a rewarding experience, talk with Pastor Ron.

ER Youth Relaunch

Hey Bethelites, The youth have been diligently working on a relaunch. They have been painting, cleaning, and taking part in a month long fast. We would like to ask you all to partner with us to give us that last little umph - I bet you thought we were going to ask for money didn't you? No, we need your prayers! Would you spend some extra time praying for our youth group relaunch?

Please pray that we complete the redesign of our youth room.
Please pray that the students invite their friends.
Please pray that the students have a strong finish to their 30 day fast.
Please pray that the Holy Spirit's presence is strong during the relaunch.
Please pray that the youth group has a spiritual breakthrough.

Thank you for partnering with the student ministries.

In the summer of 1996 Chrystal's world came crashing down around her. Overtaken by severe depression and an inability to continue coping with the pressures of life and ministry, she sought professional help and was eventually diagnosed with Bi-Polar disorder with rapid cycles and psychotic episodes.
While working with a psychiatrist and psychologist, she also sought God’s healing for the pain lodged in her heart. It was this combined process that brought a miraculous and medically documented healing in 1998 which resulted in new life emerging within her. Since that moment Chrystal’s passion has been to see people live fully as Christ designed.

Out of her personal journey through brokenness, the message of hope and life emerges. Her book “God Can You Love Me Even When I Can’t Love You”, is her story about that journey.

Join us for three separate sessions, you will laugh, and you will cry as you listen to her teaching, but most of all you will identify with her message of hope for the hurting and desperate
