Pumpkin Pete

Pumpkin Pete is a great seasonal wall hanging, layered on burlap,

with covered chipboard, topped with a festive raffia bow and sassy sunflowers.

I drew him from inspiration of an old party bag I was given,

with a darling illustration by Beth Yarbrough.

Pete is printed on glossy photo paper and the whole center section is

layered together with Mod Podge.

After our amazing Fall=O=Ween crop, I have several complete kits and tutorial available.

I just love Halloween decorations and cards, and this one, inspired by a design on Pinterest, just caught my EYE! HAHAHAHA!

It is a standard A2 black top fold card, with a white lining, (it is photographed against orange).

The speech bubbles and text were done in Word, cut out and popped up on foam dots.

Here's a tip... regular quick dry glue doesn't hold these eyes very well,

so I used MEGA TACK Stretchable Extreme Adhesion glue.

Now the eyes are staying put!

Stamp your favorite sentiment inside and you're done!

Can't you just about smell that yummy bacon?!! Every morning Bob The Babe fixes breakfast for us, and I knew this technique would make a card that he would appreciate :)

There is a video on Splitcoast Stampers on how to make the bacon. It is created with satin ribbon, alcohol markers (I used E09 and E21), and a heat gun!

But what is bacon without sunny side up fried eggs?

Punch the yolks from yellow paper with a circle punch (I used 1 3/4 inch, but they were pretty big!), and lay them flat on a foam mat. Use a large stylus or round paint brush handle to gently roll around and around pressing them out in the center. Lay them onto Versamark and then coat with clear embossing powder and heat. Use glossy paper or photo paper to hand cut the egg white. Distress edge lightly with brown ink. Glue edges of the yolks and place on egg whites. Don't forget the pepper and salt! For salt I just dotted on white glue and it dries clear :)

Halloween is upon us, and I have a few treats to share... mostly cards that I have made for family and friends. I hope you will enjoy, since we ghouls just want to have fun!

A new stamp I picked up at Michael's this year.

Colored with Copics. Love this cat!

The Count is from a Close to My Heart set and you can get it here.

The sentiment about Candy Corn is a very old one from my stash.

The Spider and Drippy Goo punches are Martha Stewart.

This one is for my Grandson P who has decided to be something

"scary" this year... a bat! The stamps are

Studio G Soloz collection (sorry about the glare).

The bat punch is from K @ Co. and the

paper is from DCWV Ghosts & Goblins stack.

I used Copics Opaque White and Smooch for the cloud and moon.

More Studio G stamps, Copics, and DCWV paper on this one,

along with a bit of Glaze from Sakura.

Our Jack-O-Lanterns are super easy this year!

This is a 3 liter soda from the Dollar Tree,

(about 2/3 of the soda was gone and I just filled it with water!)

Add a vinyl, paper or drawn-on face,

a nice green bow,

color the lid with markers

and you have a "no muss, no fuss" punkin!

This fun fellow was cut from the

"Pumpkin Carving" Cricut cartridge.

Make a whole family with different size bottles :)

O Holy Night

It's hard to believe that I am posting Christmas cards as I am still making Halloween and Thanksgiving cards... but I'm excited about all of them!

This gorgeous card is 5 x 5.5 and makes a stunning presentation of the night sky.

There is a black layer 3.75 x 4.

Using the Martha Stewart City Skyline punch, add two strips of skyline across the bottom third.

The bottom layer is attached with dimensional dots.

The top white card is 4 x 4.25. Cut a center hole with a 3" die cutter.

Use dimensional dots to center over the night scene.

Add a 1.25 inch Star of Bethlehem, with a small gem in the center.

Dot the night sky with white ink to indicate background stars, then

use Silver Stickles to dot on some stars, and Crystal Stickles to add luster to the roof tops.

Use the Martha Stewart Branch Punch to cut out approximately 25 branches.

Layer them to create the wreath around the opening.

Top with small green holly leaves cut from a Martha Stewart Holly border punch. Use a stylus and foam pad to round the leaves for dimension. Glue two to a cluster around the wreath.

Add three small seed beads to each pair of holly leaves to represent berries.

Stamp "O Holy Night" in the margin at the bottom of the card. Use Silver Stickles to dot right in the center of each starburst on the lettering.

Stamp desired sentiment inside.

Bendy Card Crazy!

I have been inspired by several talented blogging friends, like Emma Fewkes and Cards by Bird, as well as a wonderful tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers... and now I am all over making Bendy Cards!

These great cards create a scene, yet fold flat to go into a regular envelope!

I have made my own adjustments to their designs, and I cut my paper to 4.25 x 11.

Score at 5.5. Then cut the left side (facing the card) down to 2.5 inches, leaving a 2.5 inch tall "front" on the card. The remaining piece that you have removed is 1.75 x 5.5. This will become the "right arm".

Score the "left arm end" at .25 of an inch. Then score the 1.75 x 5.5 inch piece .5 on the right end and .25 on the left end. Use double sided tape to attach the .5 inch end to the back of the card, creating the two "arms". The left arm is taller than the right, as shown in the photo below.

I have taken a pencil and free hand drawn the "hill". Cut with scissors.

Cut a tab into the .25 inch scored section on each arm.

Measure 2.25 inches from the left scored edge, and cut a slit for the right tab to fit into. Measure the spot, and use the tab to mark the top and bottom of the slip. Cut with craft knife.

The slit for the left arm tab is 1.25 inches from the right side, cut into the back wall of the card. Again, use the tab of the left arm as the guide for exact fit of the slip.

Distress and add decorations as desired!

This birthday cake is an adaptation, because the "arms" wrap all the way from side to side.

Cakes have straight layers, and I wanted to be sure it looked like a beautiful cake,

with frosting inside and out!

It will not fit into a regular A2 envelope, as the candles add a bit of height,

and the "arms" add length,

so a 5 x 7 envelope is needed...

but so worth it!

Legions of Minions!

At our Friday Try-Day class last week we made this card, and it was so much fun seeing how many different faces and personalities these little fellows had! I sent one right off to my Grandson T for his 12th birthday. I hope you will enjoy making them, too!

The sentiment inside was

You're One In A MINION!

Cut yellow cardstock 4.25 x 11 and score at 5.5, creating a top fold. Use corner rounder on top edges.

Distress all around with dark yellow ink. I used Close To My Heart Creme Brulee.

Add a black stripe .25 inch wide across the width of the card to create the band for the goggles.

Make the goggles by punching a 1 3/8" circle in Tanzanite Gemstone paper by Co'ordinations.

Then carefully punch a 1.75 inch circle directly over the previous circle, creating a silver ring. Repeat if your Minion has two eyes :o)

Punch out the appropriate number of 1.75 inch white circles and .5 inch black circles for eyes.

The mouth is made the same way as the goggles, but a slightly "wonky" circle works best. Cut a part of the circle, and arrange the mouth as desired.

Using blue paper for jeans, cut two rectangles and two "straps".

The rectangles are 1.5 x 2.5 and 1.25 x 1.5. The straps are .25 wide and fit to length.

Distress ink with darker blue.

Add stitching lines and "buttons" with black fine line marker.

Frosty Friend

Using straight and wavy crimpers is a great way to add dimension and interest when creating a scene.

Begin with a 4 x 5.25 blue background. Emboss with small dots. (Cuttlebug Swiss Dots here).

This stamped snowman image is set upon two "hills" created by tearing a 2 x 4 rectangle diagonally. Run each piece through the wavy crimper. Turn the ends so they create overlapping hills. Secure the sides and bottom to the base.

Add two evergreen trees, which have been folded down the center line, and also run through the crimper. This gives them dimension and the impression of having branches.

Add a section of die cut fence.

Add the colored, stamped image.

Stamp a "Merry Christmas" sentiment on a stamped oval, which is attached with dimensional foam dots.

This Cool Yule card is easy to reproduce with many different products on the market.

I have a new love for Washi Tape! It is available just about everywhere, even Walmart, in great colors and designs. I have started a nice little collection (er, obsession) and this is a fun, easy note card in one of my favorite color combos....

Cut base cardstock 4.25 x 11, scored at 5.5, folded at the top.

Use corner rounder on the bottom corners.

Cut two white pieces 4 x 5.25, also rounded on the two corners.

Add three strips of color coordinated washi tape.

Stamp the cat first (Studio G stamp)

Then stamp "hello" (Studio G)

Add second white card to inside as liner.

Great in any color combo :o)

Friday Try-Day started off with three great cards they expected and then

the ladies got a special surprise of a

Christmas In July Card!!

This Splitcoast Stampers inspired card was so much fun to make,

and they loved using the traditionally "halloween" Drippy Goo punch for the candles.

Here's how to make one for yourself!

Begin with an A2 background in red... 8.5 x 5.5 folded to 4.25 x 5.5

White 4 x 5.25 embossed with Snowflake design by Cuttlebug (Provo Craft)

Red cardstock cut to 2.75 x 3.75. Add strip of punched Drippy Goo across top.

Cut red/white piece into three - 1 x 2.75, 1.25 x 2.75 and the remainder is 1.5 x 2.75.

Use corner rounder (I used We R. Memory Keepers 1/4 Chompers) on candle edges.

Distress sides of candles with Vintage Photo Distress ink for depth.

Layer candles to desired positions and trim bottom edges evenly. Glue together.

Place as single unit on card, 5.8" from the bottom of white card.

Punch out four holly leaves and six branch punch pieces. Mold with ball stylus. Adhere.

Use standard office hole punch for berries. Mold to cup shape, invert and glue in place.

Add flames cut from flower petals.

Accent with red and silver Stickles.

Simple Silhouette Images

This month's Friday Try-Day cards featured several varied techniques, as usual, and I'll start with this trendy look of using a detailed stamp, and blocking it out to make it a silhouette.

We started by punching a sticky note "sun" and deciding where we wanted our horizon to be.

Sketch in a very light line with a permanent pen.

Using a stencil brush and yellow ink, brush back and forth to add the yellow layer all the way across the card. Place the sun mask along the horizon in desired position.

Now begin brushing in layers of orange, pink, and purple for the sky.

Add blues and greens for for the water.

Stamp the bird, tree and grasses.

Color in all open areas with a marker, creating the silhouettes, extending any areas to edges as necessary..

Use a fine line pen to add water movement lines.

Add your sentiment of choice to the water area.

This technique works best as a card front layer, as the marker will bleed through the cardstock.

Mat and add to folded card for finished card ready for presentation.

This works very well with all sorts of stamped images, including ones that didn't give a good impression the first time, and can be saved this way!

Yudu Cardmaker Projects

Who can resist a great sale? I found a super sale on the Yudu silk screen CardMaker, and have been having a lot of fun working on some cool projects.

With silk screen you get crisp, clean images with extraordinary detail.

The Cardmaker offers pre-burned screens with images and sentiments.

You squeegee ink over the screen, making as many copies of the image as you want.

This image was screened with a mask, allowing use of both pink and chocolate inks.

It can be used on lots of different surfaces, like this soft pink cotton.

This baby onesie needs a bit of heat setting with an iron,

and the image is permanent!

Friday Try-Day Cards and Projects

Last month our Friday Try-Day project was a Card Box ensemble to hold cards for all occasions.

It is nice to have an organized place for all of the cards we create as we are learning all of the new techniques we try out, and those great designs we CASE from Pinterest! LOL

Today I am sharing one of our Friday Try-Day cards from April, which was waiting in the box for a time, sadly, when it would be needed to cheer someone in need.

"Just a Little Prayer"

The inside sentiment says "That God will keep you in His care".

That seems appropriate for the

I FEEL THE LOVE PROJECT for this month.

This blog, and the work they do is very precious to me.

Madison, the teenage founder of this Non-profit organization is a talented

young woman with a giant heart. Since she was 16 years old she has chosen a different family

each month that could benefit

from receiving handmade cards.

This month's story is of a 6 month old angel named

Baby Mason

who was born with special needs,

and then tragically died at the hands of a drunk driver.

My card will be delivered to his grieving parents.

I hope you will take a moment to check out this website, and

perhaps join in sending a card...

There is a new mission every month.

The lace stamp set as well as the sentiments are available from Close To My Heart.

The lace was heat embossed in white onto pale gray cardstock,

then distressed with Sapphire Blue ink over the top. Use a paper towel

to buff the image and bring the white back to brilliance.

The butterfly was cut from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge, also from CTMH.

The pearl brads are from Making Memories.

Mat with black, and mount on a blue card.

Line with another gray insert with the sentiment stamped in blue.

Springtime in Paris

Ah, is there anything more romantic than thinking of Springtime in Paris? I hope the flowers are blooming, and the fountains are flowing ..... well, at least they are here!

I started with an Inner Stair Step Card (4.25 x 5.5) ,

paper by Authentique, Seasons: Spring

and Hero Arts stamps

Two different Martha Stewart Punches added the layers in front.

The Deco Fan punch created the shimmery fountain

and the Tulip Garden punch added another layer of flowers

The Boujour plates are cut from Art Philosophy Close To My Heart Cricut Cartridge

Add two flying butterflies on tiny strips of acetate

fly around the beautiful image of the Eiffel Tower

which has been accented with soft green and blue chalks.

Martha's branch punch is the perfect base for tiny star and circle punch flowers

along the front of the fountain and at the edges of the sentiment.

Add tiny spots of liquid pearls for flower centers.

Are you ready to chase "Old Man Winter" out? How about sending some cheerful, springy tulip cards with gingham or polka dot bunnies to usher in the warmth? "Cards By The Yard" are ones that are such fun to make in multiples, and I bring you these today that will be perfect for welcoming Spring!

I am using standard A2 size bases, Art Philosophy cartridge by Close to My Heart for the frame and tag, and Martha Stewart punches for the flowers and butterflies. The bunny is my design from last year's Decor Bunny Project shrunk down to 1 1/2 inches.

Journaling Jigglers

Yesterday, it was my pleasure to present a program on Preserving Our Family Stories in Venice, Florida. As part of this presentation we discussed journals, and their uses in telling our personal stories, starting family conversations, and as triggers for successful interviews with our ancestors. Roses and Lace

Nothing is as feminine as beautiful lace and gorgeous roses. I am delighted to share both with you tonight. This is a card I have made for a special friend, and it features a new die I have from Heartfelt Creations.

The roses are handmade from punches and Cricut cuts, with a delightful new twist. Watch for a YouTube video coming soon!

Mustaches and Vellum

It's Valentine Week, and I hope you are enjoying time with loved ones in your life.
This is a CAS card that I did for my 4 year old grandson, along with about 50 mustaches
for his friends!

The mustaches have a hole in the center for sliding up over a lollipop and Mommy can use my

word program for making tags for all of his Valentines.

He is one very excited little fellow! His little sister looks adorable in her 'stache, too!

I was at StampFest this past weekend, and it seems that Vellum is making a big comeback...

as if it ever really went anywhere! But there were lots of vendors using vellum in their projects.

Monochromatic Cards with Embroidery

Monochromatic cards are done with all one color papers and trims.

This time I have added a beautiful piece of embroidered embellishment

(made for me by a special friend on her embroidery machine)

which adds a delightful pop of surprise color.
