Former Beverly Hills, 90210 charmer Brian Austin Green is considering an offer to move to Wisteria Lane to bring romance to Desperate Housewives. Sources confirm to me exclusively that he would play Keith, a single playboy who makes the women’s jaws drop.

Brian (who just wed Megan Fox in real life) turns 37 this month, but doesn’t look a day over 30, the age the character was originally envisioned by creator Marc Cherry. Gaby (Eva Longoria Parker) is known for falling for young studs on the Lane (let us not forget Jesse Metcalfe), and with Bree getting left by Orson, she could also be a contender for a little B.A.G. lovin’.

As for Mike and Susan, who have had to move off the Lane and into a dingy apartment, they’ll have some new company to play with as well. Susan will befriend an old neighbor lady named Maxine — and that role has been offered to Lainie Kazan, 70, of My Big Fat Greek Wedding fame.

Actress Hilary Swank says that her ouster from teen drama ‘Beverly Hills 90210? boosted her career. The Oscar winner for ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ and ‘Million Dollar Baby’ believes that her success came from the opportunities, which came in the months after she was axed from the US teen drama series.

“Being fired from ‘Beverly Hills 90210? was most definitely a milestone because two months later I got ‘Boys Don’t Cry’, but at the time I was devastated because I thought, ‘Wow, I’m not even a good enough actress to be in ‘90210?, the eighth season, when it wasn’t even a hit anymore!’ ” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

The 35-year-old star thinks her success has a lot to do with “fate”. “I’m definitely spiritual. I wasn’t baptised or christened or anything. I didn’t grow up going to church but I definitely believe in a higher power. And I do believe in fate,” she said.

“What happened with ‘90210? is a great example of fate and destiny. Just trusting that when something happens, it might not feel great, but knowing the future has something else in store for you.

“I also believe you change your fate by choices you make everyday. A lot of people maybe feel they’re destined to do something or be something, but you can’t sit back and wait for that to happen. I believe you play an active role in your fate,” she added.

90210 vs. Beverly Hills, 90210: Spreading rumors and getting a bad reputation

In this week’s episode of “90210” (To Sext or Not to Sext), the main storyline focused on a “sexting” scandal, which back in the days of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” they had to rely on good-old word of mouth to spread rumors and give their friends a bad reputation.

“Beverly Hills, 90210“/Then: In the early 1990s, West Beverly Hills High School student Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth, who has reprised her role on “90210″) had a bad reputation for sleeping around with guys, in which she was dubbed a school slut. We found out a few years later that the rumor mill was started by her friend, Steve Sanders (Ian Ziering), who was mad at her for their break-up. Kelly spent many years trying to overcome this bad reputation.

“90210″/Now: In 2009, Annie Wilson (Shenae Grimes) was dubbed a skank by her frenemy (ah, how the vocabulary has changed), Naomi Clark (AnnaLynne McCord). Naomi believes that Annie slept with Liam Court (Matt Lanter), who was Naomi’s prom date, at their after-prom party in the season finale. Even though Annie didn’t sleep with Liam, Naomi maintains she did and vows to get revenge. And in 2009, technology makes it much easier to make your friend’s life miserable.

A photo of Annie having sex with a senior, which was taken on his cell phone, gets into Naomi’s hands. She ends up anonymously spreading the “sext” all over school (although Annie knows she did it), instantly ruining Annie’s reputation even further. Annie was already hated by classmates for calling the police on Naomi’s after-prom party last year and has been called a skank by Naomi publicly, so now with nude photos of her circulating the school, she is really going to have a hard time overcoming her bad reputation.

But it seems there is one person who can help Annie: Kelly Taylor. Kelly is now the guidance counselor at West Beverly Hills High School, and she should know more than anyone what Annie has been through. Granted, it took Kelly a few years to overcome her bad reputation, but it did happen. Annie’s circumstance is a little different because aside from the whole bad reputation thing, she is battling with bigger demons stemming from her hit-and-run crash after prom, in which a man was killed.

So, if Kelly does take on Annie’s problems, she certainly will have her work cut out for her. Kelly is expected to return in episode three of the season, which airs next week.

The show followed the lives of a group of teenagers living in the upscale, star-studded community of Beverly Hills, California and attending the fictitious West Beverly High School and, subsequently, the fictitious California University after graduation. The original premise of the show was based on the adjustment and culture shock that twins Brandon (played by Jason Priestley) and Brenda Walsh (played by Shannen Doherty) experienced when they and their parents, Jim and Cindy moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Beverly Hills. In addition to chronicling the friendships and romantic relationships of a group of close-knit teenagers, the show also addressed numerous topical issues including date rape, alcoholism, domestic violence, gay rights, drug abuse, teenage suicide, AIDS, teenage pregnancy, and abortion.

The series gained popularity during the summer of 1991, when FOX aired a special “summer season” of the show while most other series were in reruns. The series became one of FOX’s top shows when it began its next season that fall. Viewership increased dramatically and the cast members, particularly Jason Priestley and Luke Perry, became teen idols, while the series would make actresses Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling household names in the US.
