I look up at the sun and she smiles and asks "why are you shining so brightly today?" The world is so open and wonderful, I couldn't help but notice all the beautiful thing in my life. I started seeing people for who they really are accepting life, flaws and all. She said "but what about the rainy days, don't those dark clouds get you down?" Why would they when the rain washes away all my sorrow and I know that no matter what, the sun is ALWAYS shining. I no longer have to worry about what might be because I accept my path and ride the wave willingly. Im in LOVE with MY LIFE!!!

Why Am I Afraid?

Why am I so worried about what is to come or what might be? Will I ever be able to control my path of success? It seems as though the road blocks come at you with lightening speed and you are left there paralyzed with fear. The unknown awaits you and you keep crossing these broken bridges and it seems as though you should just stop where you stand and push no further. You hold on to all the hope and cling to the very memories you have that are sufficient for life. But it's not good enough. Steady fighting to make a difference and create the change you were meant to bring...Struggling with life, gasping for air and feeling the heavy weight upon your chest. You are desperate to fly free but there are so many things holding you back...You can't let go, you WON'T let go because you fear...you fear being alone. How can you cross that road alone? How can you do what needs to be done standing ALONE? And then you realize, you are NOT alone. There is a higher power beckoning you to let go...to breathe, to exhale because it is okay. It will be okay. You can finally face your fears because you realize the only thing holding you back is YOU. So you let go of what was... all fear, pain, strife, worry, nonsense, regret, despair...nothing is left except FAITH. This is your moment to be who you said you would be and what that higher power is expecting you to become. The fear of heart and mind is removed and you can think clearly about your future. So WHY AM I AFRAID? I'm not...I'm ready.

A close friend and I JUST sat down and were talking about relationships, the misconceptions of women, & the ROLE of a man. We let it all out. All the things that were wrong with women starting with everything from their attitude, the finances of a relationship, the "independent" category, the subject of "support" and when enough is enough! Why is it that men can play the blame game when things don't go as planned? Why is this acceptable and when did men STOP BEING MEN?!?

It is frustrating to see women walking around saying that "men aint shyt" and "Ill never find a good man" when there are sooo many GREAT men to be found. The problem is that women keep falling in the trap of what they SHOULDN'T be dating instead of seeking out what they deserve. Women don't know their WORTH.

This is very clear because I have witnessed women that think it's ok for a man to put his hands on her and she's out here concerned about who he is cheating with... REALLY?? 0_o That's your biggest problem? "But I LOVE him!" Love doesn't have anything to do with your current situation and you need to stop kidding yourself and be a WOMAN and respect yourself! There are certain things a woman shouldn't have to put up with and it's time we as WOMEN learn what a REAL MAN looks like.

Why I Smile....

I'm known for being the chick that is ALWAYS smiling. And when I say smiling, I mean cheesing from ear to ear for no apparent reason. Honestly, I have heard so many times how goofy I am, how I bring so much joy to the room, how my aura is so full of life and energy. So it surprises me when people ask me why I smile so much, why am I so HAPPY? I mean, would you rather me walk around and be a bitter black woman? Isn't that the black women stereotype anyways? That we are all angry, mean, bitter, and want to see everyone around us, especially our men, miserable?? First off, I REFUSE to misrepresent black women that way. I know that we are STRONG, INDEPENDENT, NO NONSENSE type of women but we are also nurturing, instinctive, & complicated.

However, none of this is really about color. My happiness has nothing to do with my race. I have joy on the inside and it shows on the outside. Some may say I'm being sneaky...it's always a possibility, but I wouldn't put money on that if I were you. I enjoy the simple things in life. Here are some of the reasons why I smile. (This list could be a mile long so I'll keep it short!)

I smile because I am love
I smile because people love me
I smile because the birds sing in perfect harmony and never seem to miss a beat
I smile because I have hope that it will be contagious
I smile because I love to see other people smiling
I smile because there are ppl out there who feel they have nothing to smile about & I want to prove them wrong
I smile because God gave me lips, what else am I supposed to do?
I smile because I'm blessed and highly favored
I smile because it's the universal language
I smile because I make a difference in peoples' lives
I smile when things go wrong and when things go right

No matter what the occasion, 90% of the time you're going to see me smiling. It's hard for me sometimes to put on my serious face but of course I have one!! I don't want to be unhappy, I want to live as thought there is truly nothing but pure joy in my heart. So when you see me smiling, instead of asking why are you smiling, ask "how can I feel the joy you feel?"

The Lies Men Tell...

What does it feel like when a man lies to you? Do you cry, stare, scream, shut yourself out from the world, or do you FIGHT?? Honestly, I hope the answer is NONE OF THE ABOVE. A female approached me about her lying cheating boyfriend. I really had no interest in him like that. It was what it was. But the crazy thing about the situation was he forcefully expressed his dislike for this women on many occasions. He would tweet her all these things but would tell me things like "I LOVE her but I dont LIKE her..." "I'm trying to get over her and I thought you were trying to mend my broken heart..." "She's my ex, I found out she was married and I just didn't wanna put her business on Twitter..." Did I buy ANY of this.. No... Did I care?? HELL NO! He served one purpose and one purpose only. I'm not the type of girl to kiss and tell but after talking with this female I learned that I was his "Groupie" and was paying his bills!! (Do I LOOK like I'm about to be paying a bum's bills... yea I didn't think so) Not to mention the front he put on for this chick calling me all kinds names... 0_o So wrong, so off, LIES!! lol But she went on to tell me all the lies he's told her and I'm sitting here thinking, this guy is a BUM!! But now she wants to call me names (But when we got off the phone we were cool...phony twitches) On Twitter its MY fault they broke up (Really, when I didnt know she existed?) But there were about 5 other females carrying on relations with this BOY... She also informed me he's a woman beater... I would NEVER fight for any man that puts his hand on ANY woman (No matter how ratchet she may be) Not to mention he's a criminal... Who could possibly want to be this guy's groupie?? I'm pretty sure it's the other way around...

This situation really got me to thinking though. I had nothing to do with any of this but you see how easy it is to pull people into your lies? I don't understand the Lies ~~Men~~ Boys Tell! Once you lie, you have to keep up the lie until it spirals out of control. What's the point?? I couldn't even waste my energy on ignorance. When people lie to you, know that they don't respect you. They don't respect how you feel, how they've affected you, they're only there for their own personal gain. (Ha! I used all 3 "there's" in 1 sentence for those who don't know the difference!) The truth will really set you free and I'm going to pray for all the individuals involved. "Starts singing Mariah Carey "Obsessed" =-) "

Are You Creating & Maintaining a Functional Relationship?

Relationships.... Everyone wants one but not everyone knows hows to really stabilize a HEALTHY relationship. So I've comprised a few tips to help you stay on the right track! Ready? Here we go!!!

1) Texting emotions: A smiley face and a simple "thinking of you" lets your partner know they're on the brain!! It's cute, it's sweet, it's a PLUS! However, do NOT text bad news, hateful messages, and any other form of anger in text messages! I think that technology these days have us losing our minds a bit. Don't fall into the trap because it almost NEVER ends up good.

2) Lying: This is one of the top priorities! Cut out all this lying to one another! There are couples I know that every other word is a LIE. They have to lie about where they're going, where they've been, who they're with, and even where they're CHILDREN are. Lying to one another is one thing, but bringing the children in it is just downright insane! Cut it out! If you have to lie, you're not being honest about who you are with your partner. And if you're not being honest, what's the point of the relationship? Ponder that.

3) Encourage one another: Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE likes to hear that they've done a good job. And in most situations, they want to hear it from the people they are around MOST. When you're in a relationship, that means your partner. Men love it, women love it, encouragement is UNIVERSAL. Tell him what a good job he did working on the car, and PLEASE tell her that her dinner last night was the best you ever had! (even if it wasn't) The little things go a long way.

4) Be open & honest: Tell each other how you FEEL. Ladies, we sometimes keep things bottled up to the point that when we explode, men don't know WHICH way to run! If you open up about things at that moment or schedule some talk time and get things off your chest, you're not carrying around yesterday's burden into today. Men, I know that talking "feelings" isn't your thing, but we NEED to know how you feel. We get tired of assuming and your thoughts are just about as complicated as our own. If we're nagging, TELL us! You can't get anywhere in a relationship without open and honest communication. Don't be afraid to build a STRONG relationship.

5) Trust one another: "Keisha said that Rodney told her that Tracy saw you at the movies with some girl!" Ok. Many of you have had this situation go down so many times you couldn't count. We don't even want to get to this point. If you have suspicions, keep them to yourself! Until you have collected evidence, I honestly don't advise lunging attacks at one another and that goes BOTH ways. Searching through text messages, phone calls, emails, social networking stalking, all of this is absolutely CRAZY! If you feel you HAVE to do this to keep up with your mate, there's NO trust and this relationship is going nowhere! Maybe in your mind, but in reality, nope, NOWHERE.

6) Be dynamic, not static: You've been dating since high school, however you haven't really changed since high school? FAIL! Relationships are about nurturing, changing, and GROWING! Women, we specifically have to change it up every now and then. We have to be his girlfriend, the girl from the strip club, that girl from the porn you watched together, that girl on the corner, and on and on!! Think it's a lot of work? You're right! but that's what keeps him interested. Switch up the game. Fellas, be open to stepping outside your comfort zone. In a relationship, everything's not about YOU. You want to please your woman, if not, then why are you with her?? You need to be just as spontaneous and keep the excitement going! This doesn't mean changing each others' personalities and characteristics. Some things just make a person who they are and you never want to ask them to be someone completely different on a normal basis. That's not fair to anyone. Work together to create different fantasies and BE each others' fantasies.

7) Keep your sex life to yourself!- I'm going to say this once and once ONLY! It is inappropriate for you to talk about your sex life when you are in a relationship! Period! Your homeboys, homegirls, the guy at the bank, the lady in Wal-Mart...NONE of them need to know what's going on behind your closed doors. You can ask advice, but even then I advise seeking PROFESSIONAL help! So many things can go wrong and I honestly feel that I don't have to sit and explain to you guys all the things that could POSSIBLY go wrong from doing this. Just don't do it.

8) Give 100%: Each party involved in the relationship needs to give their ALL. Not 50% and not 75%, 100%!! NO EXCUSES. It's really hard working on a relationship and only 1 person is putting everything they have into making this the best possible relationship it can be. It's difficult, stressful, tiresome, and ANNOYING. If 1 person quits, you might as well both call it quits because it's not going to work. You have to be in it to win it!

9) Love and respect one another; I feel this is so self-explanatory but ironically, this is the most missed point in a relationship. Know that when you get in a relationship, there are certain things you should and shouldn't do. You always have to go with your gut feeling. Learn how to sense how the other is feeling, even without words. Don't sit around being mean to one another. Give all your love and respect your partner as you would want to be respected. Don't take each other for granted.

10) COMPROMISE: Sometimes you won't always agree with what the other has to say. Learn how to meet your partner in the middle. Know that you cant always be right about everything and even if you have to feel you are right, STILL make a compromise. This means a lot to the other person and you can go so far by just compromising.
